Tariffs are taxes. \n\nHe taxes us to death. 1) We have 13% sales tax. \n2) We have 53.53% in income tax. \n3) Average property tax of $7k a year. \n4) 50% capital gains tax\n5) 10% luxury tax on new cars, boats and aircraft\n\n\nHe wants to add more Carbon taxes. \n\nAnd yet, he makes a big fuss over this.\n\nIDIOT.

What a nauseating twit. Hey Justin...tariffs on American goods are a tax on Canadians! I forgot-- you love taxes, because you're a socialist. You were right when you told Trump Canada can't survive this--because Canada isn't a real country.

With tariffs being an import tax set up to deter local business from buying outside the country, then why put tariffs on american goods save for the 25% that goes directly to the Canadian government ? When we could keep prices down for our businesses and imports, it just seens to bump prices up for the microcosm of businesses and puts money in the hands of our federal government, but directly takes money out of contractors,businesses and so on....\nIf there are no contracts for instance with energy flowing to NY, why not bump the price 5% or 10 % ....

Please keep in mind, that all the issues we have in Canada are because of Trudeau. He's been in power for almost a decade. The widespread drug abuse and crime is because of him being weak on policy and handing out drugs like candy paid by tax payers. More people died from fentanyl in Canada than our soldiers in WWII. That is all on his watch. He is only making these changes because of Trump. What kind of a leader is Trudeau to only become Canada first when a person from outside the country threatens him? I heard a person on the Jake Tapper, C NN, this afternoon say all the companies are coming to the USA not Canada, he didn't mention that they come because they don't have to pay a lot of taxes. As an American, i am embarrassed and stand with Canada. It's gotten so expensive to live here in California it's ridiculous and the IRS still wants 2-3 thousand in taxes every year if you don't have any dependents to claim.

Tariffs bring in cash INSTANTLY to his treasury, so that he can spend it instantly on tax cuts. Any other income generating taxes need laws to pass Congress and will not produce CASH for years...

So Trump invited Canada to become a member of the most successful and powerful union of sovereign states in history, something that even our own territories of Guam, Puerto Rico, and all the others do not have. An invitation to be a bona fide member. Why do you think that is? Minerals? The USA has all the minerals we need. We have more oil, coal, and natural gas than any nation also, and we can produce and refine it cheaper than any country can. Yep it's going to be interesting \nAs I work for an international Automotive injection molding company based here in the US\nWe import Raw materials from Europe and China plus within the US and who knows where these materials come from.\nBut we also export finished products and materials to Europe, China, Canada, Mexico just to name afew.\nThat is a lot of tariffs placed on these products and that doesn't include tax, cost of labor, manufacturing costs\ngoing to be interesting what the future holds

A message to Trudeau. Put an export tax on the Oil and Electricity sold to the United States. Open up new European Markets for Oil and Natural Gas product and sell directly to Europe and Japanese markets. China needs oil, there is plenty of market around the world for our products. The Tariff's imposed by Trump is only going to make product to the US more expensive for their own citizens, and with Tariff's on all American imports, if they can't make it, or they don't have the raw materials to make it themselves, they will have to pay more. It is not necessary to impose Tariff's on USA Products to penalize Canadians, but Canadians will find new markets to replace the US, and we won't even notice it happened. We have alternatives. The southern islands are great vacation locations, and with the weather disasters they have suffered over the past few years, they could use the tourist support to help rebuild, and, their people are friendly and don't carry guns.

The real reason for the tariffs is because it has never been fair for the United States we pay more taxes for products in Canada in Mexico in Europe and it's always been like that and it's sad that it has to come to this in order for everybody to pay their fair share. That's the real reason. it'sad that countries are mad because they can't continue to rip off the United States. if there's fair trades there are no tariffs period

Somewhat right but not exactly right. According to Trump admin, Trump is actually trying to stop the circumvention of Chinese goods and Chinese drugs coming from Canada. Trudeau promised Trump to work on the drug issue, but I guess he did not if we are seeing the significant import tax on Canada now. And come on Trudeau, you dislike Trump and aren't exactly his friend. You talked back on him on many international stages.
