But we take great offense when our sovereign nation is dismissed as just another U.S. state, ignoring our 150+ years of history and the sacrifices of our soldiers who fought on the frontlines—often before the U.S.—in WWI and WWII. After 9/11, we stood by America, fighting and dying alongside you in Afghanistan, just as we did in Normandy. Canada has been the U.S.'s closest ally for the last 70 years, and the idea of a fentanyl border crisis (until recently) is simply misleading.\n\nIf the roles were reversed, would you boo at a hockey game? Trump has been in office for a few months and not only managed to turn their biggest ally and one of the most friendliest and peaceful countries in the world against the USA, screwing over all of America, but also managed to piss off the Europeans… in what world was it a smart idea to start a trade war with a country you get most of your gas, oil, electricity, water and minerals from?

Donald does not, nor has ever, understood politics or geo-politics. He approaches things as 'business deals' amongst businesses but Countries are not businesses. Yes, the Tariffs are one more thing to put Americans in the street, turn off their electricity, take away their heating system, and make America into a poor 3rd world country. Trudeau and Canada are protecting its workers - federal and private and yes, all of Canada. Canada is United. Americans better find Unity like the Canadians are doing versus worrying about who voted Red or Blue.

It would have been better to call the move “ill-advised”. Cars, for example, are made by american countries anyway (Ford, GM etc). Australia is being punished for aluminium exports to the US. And the largest company involved in this.....ALCOA. This means your vote and opinions DO count.
