Everyone complaining should ask themselves a few questions. These Indians and by extent all immigrants have significant barriers. I'll refer to only indians here. They have names which are hard to pronounce. Some of them have a look only a mother can love. They cant speak as well as we do. We cannot understand them. Majority of them come here w nothing. Yet...yet...they have become THE Richest diaspora in America and they are not doing too badly here in Canada as well. Now you have to ask yourself why is this the case. They start frombthe bottom and in 20 years or less they end up at the top. I think most rational sane ppl will know the answer, other immigrants will know the answer. The answer is: they work hard at educating themselves and then they work hard at their jobs. Some of you will say they get tax breaks and child tax subsidies etc. But those things are handouts...its not designed for you to become rich from, just to keep from drowning. So its not handouts. They literally work hard all their lives. Do you see any of them at the ball game? Or out partying? Or out having a grand time. The same ones delivering your uber eats in 20 years will be richer than you. Even with all the barriers I mentioned before. I am an Eastern European national whos been here for the past 40 years.

this is a common thing in Canada. Canada is full of head cases like this. if u are an Indian student in Canada u are at the bottom of the food chain and u are treated like one.

When I moved to Toronto 20 years ago, it was more pleasant and people in general was polie and good manners.\nFor the last 10 years and especially the last 5 years, it’s worst and worst.\nDon’t expect someone say Hi to you in your building. Exception, if you have a pet.\nNo one will look behind in case there’s someone for the door.\nEveryone stuck with his community, don’t expect to have discussions with people if you’re not form the same community .\nTake the subway, you see people put their own bag in an empty seat. \nAnd people with feet on the seat.\nIt become a very selfish city, only for me, me, me.\nI travel in differents parts of the world and, Toronto is the most unfriendly city.\nExpensive for apartment, insurance, groceries, cost of living.\nHope it will change again but I have no hope and I prefer to be away as much as I can or move away\n\n.

One would think learning a new culture when moving to a new country would be something to look forward to. Definitely not the case with Indians.

Singapore Airlines is an absolute treat to fly on. I gather in a microcosm, it is interesting to compare Air Canada and Singapore airline or all Nippon airways, with Air Canada. Air Canada is very expensive for a one or two hour flight, not so in Southeast Asia. Air Canada service is horrible, intimidating, and nasty. Singapore airlines and all Nippon airways, is exactly the opposite. Air Canada makes it very difficult for you too make claims on cancelled flights, broken luggage, and breaches of contract. Singapore airlines and other airlines in Southeast Asia go out of their way to advert a claim. The taxes on a ticket with Canada is horrendous, both indirect and direct taxes, in Singapore and all Nippon airways, much more reasonable. I think when you compare to airlines or multiple airlines against Air Canada, Air Canada is a microcosm of economics, workplace normality, and courteousness. Canadians will always say “I am sorry. “but let me assure you for somebody that is both, culturally Asian and Canadian, they don’t mean it a bit. The culture is more passive aggressive than anything else. Canadians are distant, and have a very, very remote education on their own country. I also have to give credit to the Singaporean pilots. There is usually the captain, first officer, and a second officer or two upfront. Excellent training for the up-and-coming first officers and captains. In Canada, of course we don’t do this. I feel at the safety upfront, especially in an IFR environment, is being sacrificed in Canada and North America. cost is everything, will safety seems like it has taken a backseat. Second officers should be mandatory on all Air Canada flights. This is not the case anymore. Also, on a visual approach to hit the button, I would definitely give the Singapore captain the edge. The hands and feet of an air. Canada pilot has deteriorated beyond belief where, if they don’t have their flight management system and auto pilot going in full tilt, they start sweating and second-guessing themselves. I’ve witnessed this many times.

One of the scariest things in Canada is Canada law is so generous for criminals, see Peng and Eddie case in Vancouver. Eddie go to jail for 14 years for killing Peng ,his friend go to jail 7 years and some of his team jail free. That why Canada is one of the most destination for immigrants and criminals.

This country is utterly ludicrous. Bureaucrats and politicians exhibit sheer madness and political opportunism. I believe both Liberals and Conservatives are responsible for this situation. As a skilled migrant myself, my family and I migrated here 25 years ago. Let me illustrate with an example I'm aware of: A young woman obtained her student visa from Seneca College and arrived here with her husband and two children. Her husband secured an entry-level job (I believe that entry-level job should go to a Canadian youth), and subsequently, she brought her mother to look after their children. These children are enrolled in the local school board, and Canadians are footing the bill for their education. I don't know what economical benefit Canada is going to get out of this kind of situation. This is just one of many cases I've personally witnessed. I fail to comprehend why Canadians tolerate such foolishness.

I think everyone is missing the point here. I Don’t support Israel’s retaliation, but I wondered why the Arab world has not taken in a single refugee. Poland didn’t condone Russia’s attack by taking in hundreds of thousands Ukrainian refugees. If Egypt, jordan, Quatar, to name the immediate Arab Neighbors would rally together to get the women and children out of harms way, surely the outcome would be better for these poor people. \n\nSadly this is not the case and it appears as though this conflict will never find a solution, as long as both parties are not able to set aside their millennia aged quarrel, acknowledge each other’s deep roots and belonging to the same land, and accept that they both come from the exact same bloodline. The exact same seed of a man named Abraham. Both parties need not to like or even tolerate each other, but they both need to respect each other’s right to co exist within that space. I’ve heard some disgusting vitriol from both sides, honestly. Both sides have and are behaving like animals. Infact animals are more civil, as their disputes are settled in a more humane manner, without the casualties within their communities. Yet, despite being created in God’s image with the ability of sophisticated communication, both sides are unable to get past their own hurt pride, at least for the sake of the innocent lives that have and continue to be lost on BOTH sides, to finally squash this matter once and for all.\n\nGrowing up I had a cousin . We both were the only Sons of our respective immediate families’, born to identical twin sisters, 3 months apart. From\nA young age everything was competition between us. Who ran faster, jumped higher, threw further. Every thing we did, and we spent a lot of time around each other, was constantly turned into a “who does it better”. This resulted in us usually throwing down as one of us, feeling like we may be on the losing end of any given task, would just get frustrated, and start soccer punching the other. And my cousin and I from the time were off the diary to the day we both matured, would THROW down. We would literally just start throwing punches at each other, it was honestly impressive how we both would manage to land equal amount of hits to look like literal bloody hell, and guess what, even those fights became competition as even our dads would throw money with the others pitching for their favourite. Fortunately, our moms, the only adults in the our community, looking back, people would just pick a side and watch as go at each other, than pull us off each other, would come stomping out of the house grab each one of us by our ears, gives us a good smack in the back our heads and sit us down, look each one of us straight in the eye, and say something like, “cut it out, you two are family, more brothers than cousins” they would demand that we both go hug it out, have a bath, if we managed to do that peacefully then we were allowed to partake in dessert that evening or allowed to stay up a little later watching tv, or whatever . My point with this overtly personal analogy is that both the Palestinian and the Israeli sides should be dragged off each there by their figurative ears pulled, sat down, scolded and reminded of their ancestrial ties to each other and to the very same land. \n\nBe honest with yourselves, some how amongst all this hate, vitriol, unnecessary death of innocent lives, are you, and those you rally with be truly ok with your opposing side coexisting harmoniously beside each other? If the answer to this question is no, the other side can not have any claim to this land and needs to be removed to god knows where, if not off the earth all together then it’s your people, not mine, that are doomed. We’ll still be chilling in North America, horrified at the unfolding events but chilling nonetheless. Although it somehow claims to not be doing so, the actions of Israel demonstrate a gruelling callousness towards Palestinian life or right to life, and the staunch calls of the constant pro Palestine protests, calling for the eradication of Israel, none absent of a deep, hate and disgust towards the Jewish people. Both are in need of serious internal reform. Honestly as a complete outsider, SHAME ON BOTH OF YOU. I don’t care who started it, or who said or did what, at this point it is imperil that this end immediately. And as an outsider, I think it’s is important that pressure be applied to both sides to put their weapons down. I don’t recall the last time anyone even mention the Israeli hostages, putting any pressure on Hamas to do the one thing that would definitely appease the Israelis. In the same breathe, Israel needs to be further pressured to stop being so trigger happy and lay off of it. \n\nI can only hope, I guess. In the meantime i should really refrain from ranting on YouTube.

I am a Canadian Citizen but I cannot get a minimum wage job. I've submitted over 200 online applications for minimum wage jobs and every time I go out I apply at any store or restaurant along the way, but it's been about six months and I still haven't gotten one, get any feedback for an interview. It's so sad and disappointing. The problem is, when a company recruits people, the company asks the person they just hired if they know anyone and brings them to work. Another case is that there are some international students or foreigners who agree to work and receive a salary lower than the minimum wage.???

Where i live , 90 percent of businesses are owned by non canadians. They only hire their own culture in most cases or they dont hire at all. They will leave you standing in line to pay until they are ready to help you, due to having only one worker.\nMy best advice is to start your own business if you can.

I live in GTA for a decade, and I have never experienced any hate. My wife wears hijab and she is welcome everywhere. If you want to leave Canada that your choice, and nobody is going to stop you! Based on your statement, I feel you should live in Saudi Arabia. In case you feel residency is the problem, better marry with one more Saudi woman and then sponsor your existing wife too!

Coming back to a land where general caste people Living with no reservation, labor laws, no work ethics, dirty politics and corruption where your kids will smoke 150 cigarettes per day due to the deteriorating air quality . No surprise there, \n\nCanada is NOT attractive to migrants anymore due to multiple reasons.\n\nSoon a 1 bedroom apartment will probably cost 5000$/month for rent in the Major Cities making it impossible to settle here for newcomers.\n\nThe healthcare system has serious problems due to a lack of Doctors and Nurses who left for better paying jobs in US or Europe.\n\nIf you need immediate Specialist care you will probably have to pay hundreds of dollars just to see someone in the Private sector because the Public Health System has huge waiting lists and is understaffed.\n\nYou won’t be able to get a Government Family Doctor because the remaining ones have thousands of patients already so they’re swamped.\n\nYou can wait even 10 years for a Family Doctor and still won’t get one.\n\nYou can’t be bumped up on waiting lists for Doctors or Specialists even if you are in a critical condition because you aren’t a Celebrity / Politician / Millionaire.\n\nOnly those with a lot of money, status, power get immediate medical attention in case of an emergency.\n\nMost of the traditional medical costs like and eye exam, treating an ingrown toe nail, Physiatrie treatment are NOT covered by the Provinces anymore so you will have to pay out of pocket hundreds of dollars again.\n\nSome Provinces are already copying the US healthcare system which is 100% Private and for profit so don’t be surprised if you you’re gonna have to pay even for an infusion.\n\nThe minimum wage is only 15$/hour in most provinces when in reality you need at least 40$/hour to survive the ridiculous cost of living.\n\nYour typical salary will go 45% to taxes and 45% to rent leaving almost nothing for food / bills / gas / insurance etc. \n\nYou will struggle to make ends meet and possibly starve a week or two every month just to say that you’re “Canadian” \n\nThat is the sad reality but Canada is in a deep hole right now.\n\nUK is in a similar situation too.

In general, you will definitely find something to keep yourself busy.\n3) Affordable medicine. Russian citizenship can be obtained after 5 years of permanent residence, BUT foreign citizens have the right to obtain a medical policy for themselves after obtaining a residence permit. There are cameras everywhere in Moscow, on shops, on poles, and video recorders on cars. And I still remembered! Summer holidays for children are 3 months, so where should they go? Summer camp, give mom and dad a break from your nasty whims))\nIf you want to send them to the Black Sea, if you want to send them to Altai to a health center, you can send them to a city camp (They brought the child in the morning and took them away in the evening). Previously, I was constantly sent to the black sea on a permit that was given to my father at work (Shipyard). Now this is only possible in special cases.\n\n7) Vacations. You are required to go on paid leave for 28 days a year. 12 public holidays.\n\n8) Sexual minorities. Compared to Europe at $5000-6000 per acre. A well-known foreign representative is Justus Walker if anyone is interested.\nIn general, Russia is open to new citizens of the country, the state gives everything to create a unit of society, on your part you just need to be a law-abiding citizen and live a quiet life. I'm an immigrant and my immigrant friends and I were talking about exactly this just the other day. I'd like to add some context on why so few international students stay: they can't. Schools prey on this very fact. In international recruiting, these schools use the promise of thriving local industries and trot out graduates working locally as major draws to these expensive programs. Then once students are in Canada, many of these schools couldn't care less: they offer little or sometimes no housing support, no immigration advice (or in my case and many of my friends' cases: they give straight-up false immigration advice that can screw you over or even get you in trouble). There absolutely needs to be regulation and accountability for these predatory schools; I think a good starting point would be capping the number of visas they can apply for based on the number of housing units available (either on-campus or via local development subsidy and homestays). Tons of students come to Canada completely unprepared due to false promises made by these schools, and then get spit out into an egregiously inefficient and broken work visa system.\nMy immigrant friends and I are all highly skilled in our specific field. There are only a handful of people in the world (let alone in Canada) who can do what I do at the level I do it, so I would be incredibly difficult to replace if I left Canada. Despite that, and despite being Canadian-educated (Canadian resources invested in me that you'd want to keep in Canada), remaining in Canada has been a massive struggle for me and my friends. We individually spend hundreds and even thousands of dollars every year to apply for permits that have to be renewed annually, but take the government 6+ months to process. Because the government is so backed up, we have to apply for *extra* permits to bridge that gap (more money, and more work added to IRCC's already-long line of applications). I'm in limbo for the majority of the year where I can't switch employers, can't leave the country, etc. It's horrible. \nBut I have it better than most. Of the international students in my year, only I and one other student are still in Canada because the transition to work permits is so needlessly long and difficult. Even a graduate who does manage to get a work permit might have to sit unemployed for 6 months or more before that permit is active. How is a student supposed to survive without work for that long? In order for employers to even apply to sponsor a graduate, they often have to do a lengthy labor market impact assessment, and so these graduates are stuck in a holding pattern, and they're the lucky ones. Immigration is absolutely vital to Canada and I hate how quickly these stories turn to xenophobic rhetoric, but we have to make space in the conversation to take a look at how schools are exploiting students and policy loopholes, and why they're doing it, and address those problems. The current system isn't fair to anyone.

Is it possible to change the sponsor in case the one in the first application is rejected??

We are so sorry you are leaving. Success immigrants from different parts of the world have come here, were discriminates, but then were accepted and changed the country for the better. After traveling to different parts of the world, I have yet to find a country that is better than Canada, economically or spiritually. Seems to me Gaza, which has been in the\n hands of the Arabs has Not allowed its people to thrive or live in peace and dignity . No Arab state seems to understand what this means . So what is he word salading about ! So lets do some simple math if the government could achieve this every year which is beyond a drugged induced fantasy the federal budget would need to find 73billion in cuts 60 billion would be needed for interest payments 13 billion going toward principal. So if never any recession or world event shocks or higher interest rates your looking at 2.1 trillion Divided by 13 billion\nYour looking at 150,000 years to pay off debt worst case if we started today. Bankruptcy is not an option is on the table staring at us right now.

I agree with many points you have made in this video but, I want to point out one thing about Canadians (and most western cultures)- they have an egalitarian view of society and are much less selfish as compared to Indians. Take that instance you mentioned about that Canadian woman who was waiting with her child in the emergency ward - unlike Indians she knew that there was another person whose situation was more dire than that of her child so she willingly waited for her child's turn to be looked at by the emergency doctor. But, in the case of Indians they will not have the grace to wait quietly for their turn.

This is a very thoughtful and balanced review. As a retired Canadian who had a good job for most of my life, I'm saddened by the decline in almost all areas of life, lifestyle and and people's aspirations in this country. This decline actually seems quite rapid, I would say from 2015 onwards. Housing in major centres was expensive, but it has skyrocketed in the past decade. There has been a decline in many institutions: 1. health-care, especially noticeable since the pandemic that coincided with many boomer medical staff retiring, but also by our sclerotic institutions refusing to enable foreign-trained doctors to work here. Many foreign-trained doctors in the Vancouver area are doing jobs way below their qualifications while many people cannot even get a family doctor. Crazy. Econonically, there seems to have been no plan at all from the government as we exited the pandemic. At least the US had a plan, to 'build back better'. Our government just floats along as if everything is fine, when the decline is very visible especially to older Canadians. We have admitted 1/2 a million people a year from overseas, so our economy should reflect this and show an upswing. But no, we're in a 'technical recession' as of December and probably a real recession as of last week. I have never voted Conservative in my life, but Trudeau is a flaky dimwit with a famous name who has no clue what he is doing. A fool, in fact. He's mismanaged our foreign relations beyond belief, and nothing has improved domestically. When Pierre Poilievre says 'Canada is broken', I believe it. We deserve much better leadership; in Canada's case, the rot does come from the top. Justin the entitled idiot is much more like his mother than his father.\n\nLong rant. Nah… they have never wanted them. Thats why the Palestinians have been there in the first place. Way to make it everyone else’s problem… Literally no one wants the Palestinians because they are demanding and not easy to deal with. The Arab countries refused them entry many times in the past as well, including when Israel took hold of the area legally. If the Palestinians stay, they have to learn how to be okay living in a Jewish state, and they have so far proven they cannot figure out how to do that. They certainly should leave if that is the case to make their lives easier, but answers like this just keep pushing the problem back on the Jews. Then you have to be okay with the only options the Jews are left with to ensure their own people are safe.

Main difference between Singapore and Canada is the latter has been trying to suppress wages of the working class effectively turning the working class into the working poor. \n\nThis, based on idiotic economic theories coming from central bank economists who think profiting private banks which produce nothing and creating a slave labor force in perpetual debt is good for the economy.\n\nIn Singapore, the govt has done the opposite. i.e. enabled purchasing power of the average citizen to rise along with standards of living. Its created the belief that hard work, innovation and enterprise on the part of the individual actually leads to personal success. \n\nThat dream has faded away in Canada and the young people see a bleak future. Its sad to even have to write this.\n\nWhen central bankers, govt..etc. step in to steal the productive output of the working class, it destroys Capitalism and suplants it with Crony Capitalism. FIRE (Financial, Insurance, Real Estate) speculation prospers while the working class producing real goods and services is financially destroyed.\n\nThe real estate prices are deliberately kept high by artificially restricting supply of housing through all kinds of bureaucratic means. Its main objective is to keep people in debt and working to pay off mortgage debt. A fall in housing prices would undo a lot of the leveraged bets that depend on housing prices staying high -- as happened in 2008 in the US. Main losers of that are banks.\n\nYou can then understand why Canada keeps pushing for more and more immigrants. All pyramid schemes (in this case a debt pyramid scheme) has to expand their base or collapse. It also serves the purpose of wage suppression of the working class so they remain in debt.\n\n\nI don't understand why you came from a prosperous country like Singapore to a lower standard of living in Canada. They followed through, and Federal Finance Minister Bill Morneau sent a detailed response, signed by him but likely written by his staff, explaining the revised criteria and suggesting other potential programs. Provincially, my MP's staff guided me through various programs. Ultimately, I received nearly everything I needed to survive and potentially thrive through the pandemic (to be confirmed in 2024).\n\nTaxes are high, but I feel safe in Quebec City. Crime rates are low, and I've experienced little racism, possibly due to my fluency in French. Starting a business here has been easy, with minimal costs and bureaucracy.\n\nAs a gay man, I've never felt endangered. While your reasons for moving are very understandable and commendable, I also get a feeling of hopelessness when I hear that western countries are becoming hostile environments for practicing Muslims. I moved to Europe from Pakistan and I am constantly in a conundrum of whether I would want to settle here permanently. On one hand, the cultural differences here means that I will probably always feel like an outsider in this society and will always have to work harder to be able to practice my religion freely and to find a good community around me. On the other hand, because of Pakistan's economic situation, going back means constantly living under the threat of financial insecurity and a plethora of other problems such as a corrupt justice system, a weak passport etc. Not to even take into account that the average Pakistani society is just Muslim by name and not in actual practice. So it feels like there isn't any clear options and you just have to weigh the pros and cons of each situation. But I would warn you that while it's easy to say that you want to live in a Muslim country, the reality is hardly as idyllic. Its easy to play the azan in a mall but it's difficult to create a society that actually adheres to and values Islamic principles, and in Pakistan's case I don't think such a society exists. You would also find that many Muslim countries' leaderships have supported tyrannical regimes and nobody's hands are actually clean. It's a complicated decision but I hope you find a situation that works for your family.

I was a student at university when I first met practicing Muslims and during my year abroad in Canada I got to experience the Muslim community and made the decision to accept the truth. It actually makes me sad to see that Canada goes down the way you described. I like the Canadian people and have beautiful memories from the time I spent there. \n\nAs a European Muslim I also started considering hijra. But my case is a bit complicated: I am the caregiver of my two parents who suffer from ALS and dementia ? As they are totally dependent on my presence, practically I cannot leave....but I also feel the negative things as you described them for Canada. With maybe one exception: our winters are milder and I enjoy our summer. When I travelled to Saudi ,Turkey and Morocco: I liked all of them, but the weather was just too much for me ?

I find it so amusing that Canadians always have to preface everything with self righteous boasting about how multicultural they are, how their city has a world class this and that—in this case—film festival etc. etc. I have never been anywhere in Europe for example where first anyone even mentions Canada much except to say that there are a lot of trees. And no one in real cities with a culture like Paris, Madrid, Berlin harp on how world class they are or how multicultural they are. Also, in terms of immigration, give me a break—you have obviously not travelled anywhere—go to Berlin, Paris, New York etc. to see people from all over the world. I love Canada and could never imagine living anywhere else, it's not perfect but what country is. Everyone can have something that they can dislike and see things that need improvement but isn't that the case in every country. We are one of the most free countries in the world, and we are diverse and I love it, the housing is a issue now but in a few years it will be something else, people who believe that everything has to perfect will never find a home.

Imagine a war torn family with 2 kids and the mother and father reach one of their borders, All they want is safety food and shelter. Nobody cares about the motherland when your family is in danger, will they give them asylum or refuge in that case? Or will they keep saying the root problem needs to be fixed to them and send them back to get killed with their children, this is a horrible answer. Palestinian people are humans too and giving them refuge does not mean giving them your land.

you took good decision but still it is possible only if your parents and relatives support you. i know the same case where one boy went to canada and struggled alot and he was even not having enough money to pay rent so he stayed in shelter home for almost 3 months and then he decided to come back to india. He came back to India but his real sister and some relatives used to taunt him by comparing others who were staying in canada. His sister used to quarrel with him everyday and used to say that he should die because he wasted his parents money. Unfortunately, he committed suicide after listening harsh words from his sister everyday. Now he is not among us but he was really great and hardworking guy who worked hard in canada but due to lack of support from his own family he committed suicide. Therefore return is not the only option , one's decision should be welcomed by family members also.

I teach ESL so I talk with a lot of newcomers and immigrants as part of my job. The case of one of my students sticks out in my mind. She originally came here from Ukraine because of the war. She wants to get PR status because she wants to settle here and make a life for herself and her family. She was explaining the process to me and she seemed really caught in a Catch 22. She held advanced degrees in mathematics and economics already, but in order to qualify here she would need to go back to school, which would require a different visa than the one she was here on. She was working, but at a low paying job where she was just making ends meet. So she has to decide whether to go back or stay, basically because of bureaucracy and no other reason. She was strongly considering going back home because of how expensive the cost of living is here. And I can't say I blame her. I was born here and if I had the resources, I would move. I would love to move abroad because the standard of living in most European countries is so much better.

This is good and honest review. You did not succeed because you did not go with that mindset. In my case, I was working in India as a Class I gazetted officer with Govt of India. When I got PR, I resigned from the job, just because I knew there is struggle in Canada. If I have an option, I would have definitely gone back. My Dad and my father-in-law, both Govt officers at that time, were upset with me for resigning. They were OK with me going to Canada, but did not like the idea of leaving such a good job. I did struggle initially and did survival jobs, like working in factories etc, but I DO NOT regret my decision at all. But again, it is individual's choice what is their goal. Mine was to give my kids world's perspective. Now they are free to go anywhere in the world, including India. My elder one 26 and younger one 22, have visited so many countries without taking a single penny from me. Their world view is very balanced ... they are very empathetic - thanks to Canadian education system - including school level.

I got here with my wife less than a year ago. My employer doesn't pay what is stated on my work contract. I think there's a lot of abuse from employers on immigrants coming in on closed work permits. The reason we've stayed is because we've invested a lot of time and effort into getting here just to give up easily. Had we known it would be like this, we would have probably not come. Mind you, not all employers are like this, I just happened to run into bad luck. I know of other cases in which this happens and it's infuriating. My wife is a nurse and cant work here as one due to restrictions in her work permit. I guess there's no demand in the healthcare industry here...

Yes, everybody is aware of that the Consulate have the right to accept or reject app. But that is not the case, some of the staffs there are known and are famous to be rude and have done so much trouble to customers especially to foreigners (they have no idea how diffict that would be for a foreigner to travel and to whon he/she could trust in a foreign country). The problem is not immigration. During the pandemic there was no immigration for a few years, yet the price of the houses increased by about 20% a year or more. The problem is demand and demand is hugely increased by investors. Investors don't live in the place and in many cases they don't even rent the place. At lease half of those seeking to buy houses are investors. Therefore investors double the demand.\n\nHouses are limited supply whereas investors are numerous and have access to unlimited money either cash or loan from banks. We have created a housing market. It means we made it something like share market where everyone can put their money in it and buy as many as they want. During the pandemic demand for toilet paper became very high and there were limited supply. Supermarkets limited one or 2 packs per customer because it would be unfair for some to stack most of the papers and others have none. Some customers wanted to buy tons and fill their homes with toilet paper and they did. House and land is limited too. Why can't we do the same for homes? Demand is important and always going to be there from those who want to move there and live in it. Investors buy many homes and bid higher in value than normal people because they have more money and they know the price will rise. They raise the demand sky high. Specially if they're foreign investors. They can buy hundreds of apartments or houses and leave it empty.\n\nAs I mentioned, we do need certain amount of demand for housing and that demand is going to be always there by people who want to buy and live in it whether they're local or immigrants. However, when many investors come in and they have greed, the demand becomes sky high and the price will become so high that only investors can afford them. Rent also depends on the value of the property. The higher the price, the higher the rent. So the issue is investors. Too many of them with too much greed.
