He is pissing off the world one country at a time and people are going to stop travelling to the US and buying goods made in the US.\n No one likes a bully and he is managing to do more damage to the US and their reputation. Americans will be treated like crap in Europe, Canada, Greenland and Panama and the list continues to grow. The world population is going to stand together against this mentally ill wanna be dictator. People are not going to put up with his crap.

Yeah and they are also going to charge us more. Aren’t a lot of Americans addicted to coffee?

Fun fact: Columbia is where we get a major chunk of our coffee from, so now our coffee, our fuel for working Americans will get more expensive if this is a prolonged tariff! We're just hurting ourselves with these outrageous tariffs because all of these countries (even Columbia) can just sell the supply of whatever the US is putting a tariff on to other countries like in Europe or Asia, or could just put retaliatory tariffs on us, leading to a possible trade war over FUCKING COFFEE. Our 2 party political system sucks harder than the jet engines of those planes that got denied.

Best for Columbia's president to do the right thing & accept them back now. If not all Americans will view him as dumping his nation's trash at our doorstep, which weakened our national security & had done imessurable damage, upon which I'm certain President Trump will take swift action against him as an example to the other nation's leadership, and you don't wanna be THAT GUY! They cross Trump at their own peril, but the guy's a wizard at destroying people, places, or things, even your ideas if it pleasures him. Both parties are have rediculously long memories & do hold grudges. Case in point, Cuba. They never will allow Cuba to be anything other that a floating rock prison. Please do the right thing & take YOUR people back. We're at least giving him the bennifit of knowing who they are, and what they are BEFORE they can hurt your nation & act accordingly & it'll all be good. You need a little help, just reach out & let us know. We're here to work with you, not against you.

Explain it to them through THEIR lens. Thats what they care about. Here is an example: feel free to use it:\nYou buy a GE company bulb that is made in China for $10.\nNow trump imposes a 25% tariff on imports from China. \n1. Who collects the Tariff: The US Govt.\n2. Who pays the extra 25%? GE. \n3. Is GE a philanthrophic/charity organization? No. So why will they bear the cost of the exta 25%?\n4. So what do they do? Now your bulb costs $12.5.\n5. Why? Because 25% of 10 is 2.5. So 10+2.5=12.5\n6. What does this increase in price mean? Inflation.\n7. Wont this encourage make in America? No, because you deported immigrants and now you have to pay american wages. Suddenly your bulb costs $20 because GE pays minimum wage to an American. So yeah, now everything is made in America but you are homeless paying more for everything.

Hey President Trump what abouth grocery , price of eggs etc, Now this ... US goods and services trade with Colombia totaled an estimated $53.5 billion X by the tarrif you will impose. Can you calculate the cost the American normal poeple will pay? Plus Canada plus Mexico ?
|

Once a president is allowed to do something like this, it just shows me that he doesn't respect people's basic human rights. We are opening the door to him to do whatever he wants to all American citizens. None of us are safe.

Americans can live without Colombian bananas and other tropical fruits if they are the only goods exported to the US. There's Ecuador and Costa Rica for cheap bananas and tropical fruits from elsewhere.

Raise money from the tariffs?\nYou mean: Taxing the US consumer?\nNo one else will pay those tariffs the Americans, and no one will pick the fruits or work the meat plants at all...

Dear CNN,\nPresident Trump pulling tail leave head\n(do you have any idea that who emptied your barn godowns and converted english countries as countries of worthless?).\nThe people (true culprits) who stand as threat to US (and english and Christian european) hide somewhere (these impostors so far received no damages, besides american couldn't identify wolf and sheep).\nThese south american are people of less harm (these people easily fell into the hands of security forces and receiving humiliation).\nStudy about the charector of immigrants and treat accordingly (in the way that is suitable).\nHarassing neighbours bring bitter yielding (in long term/for a long period of time).

I am totally agree USA border need to secure to stop illegal immigrants and I support America first agenda but I don't understand how tarrif gonna help American economy.Just Imagine when we put tarrif on trade that means US importer going to pay that or find alternative in short period of time this is going to increase inflation in USA.Once prices up it's very hard to bring it down we already seen in pandemic. We gone through pandemic inflation increase and then Ukraine war increase gas prices and inflation went up and now trade war with biggest trade partners this is going to be another economic damage and this is big one.

Us Americans always think were untouchable! such arrogance is dangerous, we need the world more than the world needs us, were only 4.22% of the worlds population and only 6% of the wrolds land mass, BRICS is only getting stronger and is going away from the Dollar, do your research people, what good is producing products if the rest of the world doesn't want to buy them... lets treat humans as humans not like animals lets show some respect!

And Colombia is hitting back. Remember Trump started a world trade war during his first term -- and the US got its butt kicked royally. South America stopped buying American produce and started buying from China. The EU stopped buying American steel and started buying from China. (US Steel ended up closing two American based plants as a result.) I see the same outcome during his second term.

How long before US troops from the illegal Occupation Bases they have around the globe are sent packing back to the USA ——— 8,000,000,000 non-Americans on the planet versus 350,000,000 Americans [almost 23 to 1] ——— notice how the first female President of the USA, Donatella Trump, picks on smaller nations ——— one week in politics, a short time ... 24 hours to end the Ukraine war, a long con.

This started Friday in Brazil ?? when the interior minister with police and media boarded a US plane refueling in a Brazilian city carrying returning Brazilian migrants. The police acted surprised when they discovered the migrants were all handcuffed and leg ironed. They were removed, fed, showered and returned home by Brazil.\nThis was big news throughout the Latin countries.\nThe Colombian President would not accept his civilians being treating as criminals. Colombia ?? sent a plane to pick up their citizens without the mechanical restraints.\nColombia has now imposed a 50% tariff on all American products and seeking other countries to partner with, in effect shutting out the US. This is gonna be so good for china’s ?? economy

Colombia's President said >>>> Trump, I don't really like travelling to the US, it's a bit boring, but I confess that there are some commendable things. I like going to the black neighbourhoods of Washington, where I saw an entire fight in the US capital between blacks and Latinos with barricades, which seemed like nonsense to me, because they should join together.
\n
\nI confess that I like Walt Whitman and Paul Simon and Noam Chomsky and Miller
\n
\nI confess that Sacco and Vanzetti, who have my blood, are memorable in the history of the USA and I follow them. They were murdered by labor leaders with the electric chair, the fascists who are within the USA as well as within my country
\n
\nI don't like your oil, Trump, you're going to wipe out the human species because of greed. Maybe one day, over a glass of whiskey, which I accept, despite my gastritis, we can talk frankly about this, but it's difficult because you consider me an inferior race and I'm not, nor is any Colombian.
\n
\nSo if you know someone who is stubborn, that's me, period. You can try to carry out a coup with your economic strength and your arrogance, like they did with Allende. But I will die in my law, I resisted torture and I resist you. I don't want slavers next to Colombia, we already had many and we freed ourselves. What I want next to Colombia are lovers of freedom. If you can't accompany me, I'll go elsewhere. Colombia is the heart of the world and you didn't understand that, this is the land of the yellow butterflies, of the beauty of Remedios, but also of the colonels Aureliano Buendía, of which I am one, perhaps the last.
\n
\nYou will kill me, but I will survive in my people, which is before yours, in the Americas. We are peoples of the winds, the mountains, the Caribbean Sea and of freedom.
\n
\nYou don't like our freedom, okay. I don't shake hands with white slavers. I shake hands with the white libertarian heirs of Lincoln and the black and white farm boys of the USA, at whose graves I cried and prayed on a battlefield, which I reached after walking the mountains of Italian Tuscany and after being saved from Covid.
\n
\nThey are the United States and before them I kneel, before no one else.
\n
\nOverthrow me, President, and the Americas and humanity will respond.
\n
\nColombia now stops looking north, looks at the world, our blood comes from the blood of the Caliphate of Cordoba, the civilization of that time, of the Roman Latins of the Mediterranean, the civilization of that time, who founded the republic, democracy in Athens; our blood has the black resistance fighters turned into slaves by you. In Colombia is the first free territory of America, before Washington, of all America, there I take refuge in its African songs.
\n
\nMy land is made up of goldsmiths who worked in the time of the Egyptian pharaohs and of the first artists in the world in Chiribiquete.
\n
\nYou will never rule us. The warrior who rode our lands, shouting freedom, who is called Bolívar, opposes us.
\n
\nOur people are somewhat fearful, somewhat timid, they are naive and kind, loving, but they will know how to win the Panama Canal, which you took from us with violence. Two hundred heroes from all of Latin America lie in Bocas del Toro, today's Panama, formerly Colombia, which you murdered.
\n
\nI raise a flag and as Gaitán said, even if it remains alone, it will continue to be raised with the Latin American dignity that is the dignity of America, which your great-grandfather did not know, and mine did, Mr. President, an immigrant in the USA,
\n
\nYour blockade does not scare me, because Colombia, besides being the country of beauty, is the heart of the world. I know that you love beauty as I do, do not disrespect it and you will give it your sweetness.
\n
\nFROM TODAY ON, COLOMBIA IS OPEN TO THE ENTIRE WORLD, WITH OPEN ARMS, WE ARE BUILDERS OF FREEDOM, LIFE AND HUMANITY.
\n
\nI am informed that you impose a 50% tariff on the fruits of our human labor to enter the United States, and I do the same.
\n
\nLet our people plant corn that was discovered in Colombia and feed the world

Can you guys report that this was a loss for Trump because the Colombian president said that he has no problem putting a tariff right back onto us. And then got his way by having the Colombians deported in a more humane way. Maga, it’s going to think this is a victory when it’s not and really, it’s just hurting the American people.
|
| 2025-01-26 | 0 |
How will everyday Americans react to the rising cost of Colombian imports due to Trump's tariffs? He's using us as pawns in his political game while hurting both U.S. consumers and Colombia.
|
| 2025-01-26 | 0 |
Wrong! It doesn’t cost Americans more when a tariff is placed. It forces the incoming product manufacturer to lower its costs so people will still buy, and if people still buy, the percentage of tariff will fund the us government vs our income taxes. If they don’t lower their costs, they risk people not buying which hurts their business and hurts the country they are in because they don’t make as much money to send taxes to their country’s government

Colombian President Gustavo Petro quickly reversed course about accepting flights of deported migrants from the US after President Donald Trump threatened emergency tariffs of up to 50% on the South American country for refusing to cooperate.
\n
\nPetro not only acquiesced to Trump’s demands, he even offered up the official Colombian presidential plane to help shuttle migrants back to the country, calling it a response to “the Government’s commitment to guarantee decent conditions.”\n\nThe extreme left is very unhappy about this decision?

Americans are too haughty and inexperienced to do Mexicans jobs. There isn’t a Migrant issue in the US. Trump claimed it was an epidemic, will export about 5,000 illegals then call it off and Americans will be happy ?

Donald Trump has disgraced America! He's destroying everything we were once proud to be: American. \nTrump's tariffs hurt us!\nF. Donald Trump

It’s time to get the UN out of the US and get the US out of the UN.
\nCheck this out from 1974. It may be dated but it is still true: Byron MacGregor - Americans - 1974

No, my Americans just dont purchase anything from those corresponding countries stores that Refuse!!! Then Refuse right Back!!! It's your American right to do so or not to do so!! Help a brother out, will ya!\n\nUs should also hand each country a bill per person to pay back US taking care of them... that cost $$ freedom is expensive!!

Where will Trump send the American criminals ? Is mar a Lago large enough . It appears the only country in the world without their own criminals is US . What a paradise . The # 1 criminal is the President of USA .

America is back and we don't want these socialist communist countries products. And that goes for China. They don't have a monopoly to tell us what they will n won't do! So, trump hits american companies buying stuff from columbia with a tariff. Columbia does not pay the tariff and it is not going to affect anyone but the american consumer who the american companies, who paid the hidden tax he just imposes on us, the consumer, won't actually pay in the long run because that tariff just becomes part of their cost of goods that they will add to their sales prices.
|
| 2025-01-26 | 0 |
He’s not asking Columbia to take Americans but to take their own citizens back. We can get tropical fruit from FL, PR, HI and the USVI. We’re not playing with Columbia so they better stop playing with us.
|
| 2025-01-26 | 0 |
Traffics will increase costs initially, but American companies will start bringing jobs home as it costs them more to operate in foreign countries. The question is why is Columbia not accepting their citizens back! They know they sent their gangs and criminals to the US and don’t want to deal with them again!

????? must be the funiest us president in American history
|
| 2025-01-26 | 0 |
inbound tariffs dont hurt the countries material is coming from but it hurts the receiving country,s like us. basically he just added another commodity and goods tax to american business. Columbia is probably laughing at this. what material that is directly shipped from them is probably illegally smuggle past customs anyway tariffs would have no effect
|
| 2025-01-26 | 1 |
Very sad he’s only creating a war and all those countries going the other way on trade to China, Middle East and Asia and Russia . You know whose will hurt us the American people sadly.
|
| 2025-01-26 | 0 |
Every Latin American country, most be join BRICS and get away from the USA, Trump must be left alone by all of us, and us have to be united. he is a traitor, that will turn against all of us at some point. this is the time to act.
|
| 2025-01-26 | 0 |
When did the readership of cnn get so frikking stupid. The US is the biggest consumer country in the world. Tariffs will only hurt Americans, all of your costs will go up. You pay tariffs, we don’t. For Columbia, your coffee, tropical fruit like bananas, flowers are going up. For Canada, your gas prices, housing costs. Mexico, fruits and vegetables….basically your inflation is going to sky rocket.
|
| 2025-01-26 | 0 |
The US’s biggest ally in South America, the biggest market for US agricultural products, and there’s China waiting in the wings. And all it required was a respectful conversation. What a complete idiot. And you Americans were stupid enough to vote for him.
|
| 2025-01-26 | 0 |
Americans are incredibly short-sighted.. Yes this Tariffs bullying will work now on the short term. But you're always driving countries to review their strategic partnerships and look elsewhere. So ok, in the immediate, this might sound like a win (for those with the IQ of a turtle), but the US just gave the whole world another reason to join BRICS, and start looking into ways to drop the US dollar. We'll revisit this in 2-4 years ?
|
| 2025-01-26 | 0 |
I'm an immigrant and I am in total support of President Trump. You should continue. Whole world getting American money but they don't want to help us with their own criminals...
|
| 2025-01-26 | 0 |
I hope those Latin American countries send back the US citizens living illegally in their countries.
|
| 2025-01-26 | 0 |
Oh Lord, I feel back for sane Americans who didn’t vote for moron. But us Canadians are also ready to fight back. I wonder what America will be like in a month, a year or even in 6 months ??♀️
|
| 2025-01-26 | 0 |
This is what Trump was haired too do. The majority of American voters are fed up with other countries running over us and the taxpayers footing the bill.
|
| 2025-01-26 | 0 |
At one time no South American country would have dared defy a US president and risk invasion and regime change, now they all openly defy Trump with abandon since the rise of BRICS. Colombia has applied to join BRICS and these retaliatory tariffs will simply speed that up. Colombia stated quite clearly - we will not accept undocumented migrants who have done nothing wrong but work, pay their tax and behave as excellent members of US society - basically Trump try somewhere else to dump your unwanted workers. Americans' favourite Colombian coffees have just become 25% more expensive, millions of cups of Colombian coffee is drunk the US every week.
\n\nTrump’s ridiculous comment about Jordan, Egypt and other Gulf countries taking Palestinians whilst Gaza is rebuilt is equally stupid; those countries cannot accept forcibly expelled, ethnically cleansed Gazans because that would be a War Crime and render those countries liable to be accused of complicity in a War Crime by the International Court of Justice; they would also incur the wrath of their respective populations and put their governments at risk of being overthrown.
\n\nAll the surrounding countries and the International Community needs to do is to flood Gaza with thousands of tons of humanitarian aid and millions of large family-sized tents, as well as mobile toilets and washing facilities. Supply bulldozers and rubble removing machinery to clean the land up as quickly as possible, as well as bomb detection kits to protect the children. The Gazan people are incredibly resilient and will happily live in tents whilst their country is being rebuilt around them, and the State of Palestine begins to emerge again.
\n??

The online People actually paling these tariffs are americans themselves. No one outside the us is really hit by tariffs. Consumers go for the same product which is cheapest.
|
| 2025-01-26 | 0 |
Which only screws American consumers. Geez, this guy hates us.
|
| 2025-01-26 | 0 |
So the orange idiot has taxed the American people on Columbian products... Good job moron now things will cost us more money to buy.
|
| 2025-01-26 | 0 |
How much is it costing the American taxpayer to deal with these illegal immigrants and violent criminals that these countries are sending us? It's costing lives and money.
|
| 2025-01-26 | 0 |
US citizens keep thinking this is a good thing. He keeps this up and Americans won't be able to travel anywhere, only stay home and won't be able to afford goods and services here in the U.S. ?
