I'm a Canadian from Toronto that's been living in Boston for the past 4 years. Love the city - probably the most underrated in North America. The people here are friendly (not polite, but friendly), and I've generally enjoyed living here. Having said all of that, I'm moving back to Canada in a week. There are some major benefits to living in Boston over Toronto - the pay is significantly higher for the same job, the city is beautiful, and the weather is much better. My wife has enjoyed her time here less, as there are some subtle cultural differences here with misogyny (men in professional settings always touching her inappropriately, she's been drugged at bars several times, and she is treated poorly by many men). Things that were unthinkable in Toronto. Add the slow deterioration of women's rights in this country, and the general situation with healthcare, and its become a rather unwelcoming place for someone used to Canadian culture.

The french hospitals in Canada such as Hôpital Montfort here in Ottawa Ontario treats people based on severity. Not first come first served. When i had my surgery i was taken in right away because i had a serious guts infection that would've killed me without the surgery. But when my mom stepped on a nail and had a surgery to get it removed, it took 2 months because its simply not as severe as my case was. Sure its painful, but a nail in the foot wont kill you. Plus it wasn't infected. Montfort also has a wait time of like 24 hours or so but thats just the maximum wait time, usually wont be that long. In my experience you divide the wait time by 3 or 4 and thats how long it'll take. if you need to wauit months that because what you have is not setious and they scheduled a meeting for you at a specific date.

My opinion as a Canadian with no first hand life experience in the states but personally know plenty of people who do and follow many Americans on social media.\n\nI like to look at both sides of the story when I don’t personally know any better. First thing is when it comes to health care, Canadians use only the cost as an argument but never the quality. The only time I will ever use the government funded healthcare is for a broken bone. Any other issues my knowledge and experience makes me stay far and clear away from the hospitals. However I was talking with a retired business man who spends winter in Florida and he said he had a health issue while there, was referred to a certain doctor by a friend, made an appointment within a few days, not a yearlong waitlist, and with one visit had his issues fixed. Paid the bill and was done with it. Not a story of take this for a while then come back, come back to get referred to a specialist, wait a few months for the specialist, get an appointment 6 months later, and after surgery you feel only slightly better because in your mind you should be better. I do believe Canadian healthcare is low quality and sadly designed for the government to make money. American healthcare is private and needs to offer good quality services in order to succeed.\n\n\nNext subject is violence. Everyone I know and follow in the states have never had any major acts of violence towards them. I believe just like Canada, some areas are more prone to violence but since the states have 10x more people, they have 10x more violent spots which makes it seem worse. Rural Canada and rural United States seems to me very similar in the way people treat each other. \n\n\nI wouldn’t be scared to move there if that’s what would be best. Doubt it’ll happen because I enjoy having the amount of unpopulated area to go riding atvs, snowmobiles, and whatever else. Seems like the states have less area that everyone can freely enjoy but I could be wrong

So many American's talk about the healthcare they get through their work, but what if you're boss starts treating you badly? A lot of people are doing jobs that they hate only because it gives them healthcare. You might want to start you're own business but you can't because you need the healthcare. And then there is the possibility that you like the healthcare you get through work, then you're boss gets a better deal on healthcare and changes providers. You have no say in that and you could loose some of you're benefits. You're health should not be a carrot that you're employers can dangle in front of you to control you.

Seriously? McDonalds and Starbucks? We don't have McDonalds and Starbucks? News to me bro! We have amusement parks too and FYI, healthcare is totally free, we don't have to pay for it, not ever, not any procedure, period. Gun violence, need I say more. I like that there is the second amendment and that you can carry firearms BUT there has t be a better way of implementing it, too much gun violence, school shootings, mass shootings, it's just too scary to live there. I go to the US and I am always shocked by how people treat the service industry, waiters, waitresses, anyone that is in a position of service are treated like CRAP (for the most part), customers don't say please or thank you, they are not polite ay all, never got that, entitled people everywhere. The attitude that America is the greatest country in the world, where do they get off? America is the only free country? I think not. Abortion issue, the new bullcrap happening with TRANS and LGTBQXYZ and I have to play along with their mental disorders and fantasies, no thank you. I do not want to walk down the street in fear of my life, why in GOD's name would I want to live in a country that is the equivalent of a school bully.

I am autistic, and the fact that autistic peoples are treated as inferiors in the US and not well help, oh hell NO. Even if in Canada this is not perfect, at least I was able to be respected by the most of them and not treated as a joke. Even if people don't realise I am autistic most of the times, my youngers years will be even more a nightmare that it was here. And, knowing that my family were broke already here, and I had an operation for my esophagus, wasn't able to eat anything solid, I will probably be dead today only because of that. So a big pass on the US! Sorry, but not sorry.

I was treated like Canadian garbage by a cop in nowhereland Washington State. He was super scary and i promised him id never come back to his country. Easy peasy
2023-07-16 0
Racism, religious extremism, political psychos... That's 100 times worse in the states. You guys are just find with school shootings being a part of day to day life, the RodeVWade treating women like chattel.

The base of homelessness in Canada is because they don’t treat them at the time of need if depression is in its very earliest stage it’s treatable but when it gets in middle high and severe level than that’s untreatable why ? Because of the medical system in Canada ✌️ They only give you a painkiller tablets like Tylenol and etc after 1 month appointment running behind there hospitals and clinics than they asks patients to enjoy life and meaning of enjoyment in Canada is go to bars drink alcohols do cannabis strip bars tGirls do cannabis strip bars you are good citizen and you would be cured like this ✌️?

Sh*ot’em. You break international law, then you get treated like a criminal.

May I ask you ,about the Asian workers that are there working,How do they treat the Asian workers?

This is an invasion, treat it at such and it'll stop.

Send the army, deport anyone that made it over. Anyone that comes over illegally should be treated as a threat.

This is a human tragedy. I try to put myself in their place, with my daughter, desperately needing a safe haven for us and being treated with disdain and hate. I don’t know how refugees have the courage to keep going.

but he shouldn't if it's against the law of the land and did he had any license for that if not then really not a behavior of a responsible citizen and should treated like this only

The dark history you speak of with regards to it’s treatment of indigenous people is a reflection of how human people have treated each other since the dawn of time. This mistreatment is being acknowledged in Canada, and a commitment to redress the wrongs is under way. Most countries around the world refuse to admit any kind of wrongdoing regarding past transgressions with native people or otherwise.

This is an invasion of the United States. America has no obligation to take in people who live under governments that don't work. Those countries are HAPPY to get rid of poor, uneducated people who might demand their government treat them with humanity: let Americans deal with them. America has provided LEGAL means of entry. This is an invasion.

Its just like here biharis are treated who come to work…unka bhi mazak bnate h

I see this done a lot but there's a big difference between correlation and causation. Your Rbc example shows the top people all white, including women I may add. It's very ingenuous to claim racism based purely on who has risen to the top. Would you call the NBA racist because blacks overwhelmingly are represented or did they get there because they were the best? It's really exhausting having to correct leftist talking points based on nothing.\nThis is the problem today, racism is used so much that it's become little more than name calling because people, usually on the left, call anyone they disagree with racist.\nYou dislike illegal immigration? Racist. You can be pro lawful immigration but have the wrong opinion and your a racist.\nHate crimes? These are incredibly rare and are often skewed politically, largely for reasons I just explained but if an indigenous man assaults an Asian lady, it's less likely to be labeled a hate crime as, say a white male doing the exact same.\nNot so common here but in the US, there are numerous examples of blacks assaulting Asians and orthodox jews and the media will cleverly imply it's whites by saying white supremacy is on the rise, then give the stats on hate crimes, most of which were not committed by whites. It's this kind of media manipulation that creates an inaccurate impression.\nNow, for the indigenous, yes, there is systemic racism. We have an entire governmental system treating natives differently with reserves, different taxes, hunting rights etc by definition it's systemically racist although many are a benefit.\nI also agree with your comment on Quebec with it's strong almost nationalist attitudes towards maintaining it's French heritage at the expense of individual rights.\n, please don't label someone or an organization as racist just because a bunch of white people occupy top positions without evidence that racism was the cause when it could just be they were the best candidates. Is it not best to not always assume the absolute worst before coming to a conclusion? It's like our legal system based on a biblical tale of choosing to let a 100 guilty go free than condemn a single innocent man. A founding principle to modern western countries that should apply here.\nBeing racist is a serious and nasty accusation that should be thrown only when it's established. I don't call someone a child killer just because I disagree with their politics and to do so is an a front to genuine victims. \nI'd argue Canada is one of the least racist nations on Earth. Name a country, you think is LESS racist, I'm curious, what would you suggest? I would counter that racism or xenophobia is far more common in non western countries.\nI would suggest countries in Asia, Africa and others with less multicultural populations harbor more racist sentiment towards other races. Visit Japan, very xenophobic but no one dares call them racist because it doesn't promote the leftist stereotype of white man racism.\nThere's a reason you never saw racism but had to be lectured by holier than thou self flagulating liberals about the scourge of racism, it's mostly a fabrication. These same people can never give a factual example beyond what you provide with the Rbc example. If it's that bad you would think they can provide real evidence.\nHave you actually met or seen racism in Canada? You probably have a better chance being struck by lightning.

Amrikka wich dekho Sikhan di izzat. The Khalistanis in America attack Indians but do not show how the Americans treat them like dogs. India is the best country for Sikhs to live with respect and dignity not foreign countries.

They claim to love America and want a piece of its dream, yet they disrespect her as they step all over her, this is not humanitarianism, its an invasion, treat and respond to it as such!

Canada has ceased to be a confederation and has become a central axis of power in Ontario and Quebec and the remaining provinces treated like colonies. Equalization makes everyone equally poor and destroys initiative. We used to be a rich resource country but now we're trying to compete in technology and manufacturing with an expensive and low productivity workforce. We're becoming another Venezuela.

Behaving like a Canadian, a Western Hagemonist, or a white supremacist, or a KKK is the worst mistake in the rest of the world. If Canadians can't behave like decent civilized humans with a decent sense of human rights and manners, then never come out from your land. Also, being treated as Americans by foreigners is far better for Canadians since America besides Texas is much much better than ridiculously arrogant racist Canada.
2023-06-17 0
The part discussing gun laws \n and crime in the US is inaccurate and sorely oversimplified. Also, of course immigrants are treated better in Canada, which has 38 mil people as opposed to over 300 mil.

Praying the governments in the other countries to start treating their people better so they want to thrive in their own countries

Black people always complaining about treatment ?? but how yall treat people here in USA or even your on people ??? its getting old with this racism card
2023-06-12 0
I don't know if this is all true... I have been all over Canada province's and always treated like a celebrity, opening doors, compliments, and hospitality, especially in Edmonton, where I spent over a week at the biggest mall in the world. I know they don't like Asians with the biggest complaints of them taking over buying up all the land. I have tons of Canadian friends who have never treated me badly but respectfully.
2023-06-11 0
This is the biggest load of crap I ever heard I live in Edmonton as well I am a nurse and I also have two half black children who both identify as black my daughter is 18 yrs old and has never once in her life received any kind of racism as well I have never received any racism having them. I truly believe it’s her attitude that’s the problem here. When there is issues between people it takes both parties to fix the issue and screaming racism does not fix anything it’s an excuse for behaviour stopping any conflict resolution. Also you can’t scream racism every time someone tells you something that you don’t like and I can tell you I’ve had a few people do that because I was blunt with them and as I told them if I don’t like you it’s not because I have an issue with black people it’s because they are just shitty people and I treat people exactly how they treat me and if they real nasty I kill them with kindness?

When black people move to white counties & areas then be mad they treat them differently blows me if we stay in our own countries & areas this won’t be a issue

so that 's why Air Canada treats POC passengers badly. They are racists.
2023-06-11 0
You couldn't have picked a worse place to settle. What a load of bs. My friend Joseph Banks, a black man from Queens New York, visited me in Canada every fall for over 2o years. He was treated with nothing but respect and my friends, all white, made him a part of the family.
2023-06-11 0
Could have told you that by the way you're treated at the border.... I could never live there
2023-06-10 0
I was raised in black neighborhood and was picked on and discrimination every day even at school...yet i dont hold aby grudge or hatred for african americans we should love one another instead of treating people differently than another all one race ..THE HUMAN RACE..THE POWERS THAT BE LIKE TO KEEP US DIVIDED BECAUSE THEN THEY CAN CONTROL US AND DISRUPT OUR ATTENTION FROM WHATS REALLY GOING ON ..THEY LIKE TO USE RACE AS THEY WEAPON OF CHOICE

Damn. White folks loved me out there. I had all good experiences. Sorry it's bad for y'all. But I like fishing n shooting guns n drank mad beer with them so I dunno they liked me. Took me fishing n on speedboats. I had a great time there. Maybe you got an attitude issue. You look kinda b*tchy. I was in Drayton Valley too. Millionaire boss took me fishing and treated me to lunches. Shot guns with em, drank beers, worked on their houses, let me stay on their land, super nice ppl. In actuality some of the nicest ppl I have encountered in life thus far.

I mean they don’t even care for the natives why would they treat black people and different . Africa is beautiful don’t let the media h keep you ignorant.

Black human like it to be treated like this because Black is walking behind white. \nBlack do not have their own laws, education, healthcare, policy, militaire etcetera \n\nTo this and they finish

We get treated the same way and I’m from this town native get more racism then all people I would send all white peoples to Russia

So true...however ...the sadder part is... A lot of times WE don't treat each other any better in our own country or foreign

Let them have fun in Mexico. Let see Mexican government treat them. United we stand.

As a Canadian I endorse this video, 100% truth. I have them trying to shut down my business,I went on social media to vent and the next day my business was broken into. \nWhen you have a job they treat you like a dog and now I have my business they want to come shut it down. I’m convinced that they just want us to crawl in a hole and die.

Stary shooting, illegals are acting like animals. Treat them like so.
2023-06-08 0
Do you know why? Because the worst of black people make it hard for the rest of you. Stop excusing the bad behavior of the worst of you. Separate from them. Don't treat them like they're part of you. Being late, etc isn't ok. Fighting with co workers isn't ok. You really dint of good analysis. Some of those island nations don't want black gold either because of the worst of you. THEY RUIN if for you. Start there

Something doesnt serm right because i am there most of the time and it is amazing. She must be doing something. You can't post anything and dont have the full story. I am darker than her and get treated amazing.

If Americans wearing open and carry guns were treated this way they would start riots on the streets.

illegal aliens are felons n should be treated as such in spades plus n then some1!!!

I'm a Black American (American-Canadian) and yes there's much racism there. Just look at the way the government treats indigenous people groups there.

I am sorry to hear that I feel that there is no place we can go to be treated equal.
