Loved this video. So real!! I think it's so important to always be moving forward in life. If Canada is that next step for you that's great, but if you've been here for a few generations and it's no longer serving you in the ways you need there is nothing wrong with searching for something more. I think for so long people have looked at Canada as this utopia and/or ultimate finish line destination but once you're here it's quite a shock at how difficult life really is here because of how expensive it is. It used to be that when you needed skilled labor you would train them, not import them.

As someone who has lived in Germany for almost 9 years and speaks C2 German, this is my take: \n- I understand the language requirements are necessary , but they are more often than not completely unrealistic unless you started with the language at a young age or you have lived in Germany for many years. \n- The bureaucracy and hurdles to obtain visas and permits are absurd. It is literally easier to throw away your passport and claim asylum than go the legal way to obtain permanent residence or citizenship. This is crazy, the government needs to reform this. \n- Cost of living is high and wages are ok, but the taxes are way too high. It is frustrating to give away so much for a government that malinvests much of that money.\n- Due to the high costs and relatively low real income, it is hard to build up wealth. \n- The culture is also not easy to adapt to. Even though I master the language and have many German friends, I still deeply have the feeling I don’t belong. I am ok with that, I still love the country and its people, but it’s not for everyone. \n\nIf you are a highly skilled worker with no previous connections to Germany, I don’t see many reasons anyone would pick it over other rich countries.

Germany is a mixed bag. Depends on who you meet and how emotionally resilient you are when you get here. Then you have the flat lottery, the moody Amt workers lottery, the friends lottery, etc. But statistics have shown, that the majority of skilled workers do not stay long-term in Germany. This place is one of the most modern slave states there is. Did you know you it is illegal to not have a health insurance and stay as a resident. The paperwork to get the Jobcenter to cover my health insurance is mind-boggling and lengthy. It takes a lot of years to get “integrated” and be at auf Augenhöhe and Lohnhöhe with the rest of the natives. If Germany really wants to let in 400.000 extra workers every year, it needs to do better with urgent more affordable housing, rent caps not just kindergeld. And with their oh so magnificent education, they could have more bilingual or trilingual workers at places like the Einwanderungsbehörde or the Bürgeramt to make it more welcoming. Legalese is even hard in my own mother tongue! But there are good things and people here too.

The claim that immigration is what's behind the rising cost of living, especially housing, is very much NOT an obvious fact such that you would need to consult economists to even get anywhere near an answer. Interviewing random people off the street might help with exposing potentially racist sentiment but it does little to shed light on the truth of the matter.

it's on the rise because the Liberals are importing entire cities of unknown, unvetted and unwarranted people from all over. Meanwhile, natural Canadians and Indigenous people cannot get what they need out of the government. Germany can make new visa requirements etc it doesn’t matter because German people’s mindset needs to change , we can’t learn German the moment we land in the airport this is the expectation when we land in Germany, your visa procedures aren’t fast enough and friendly , people wait for more than 3 months for dependent visa and more, also the kind of stares we get while travelling to work or shopping and more , it just feels weird , Spain France and other southern European countries are much better to live and work.

I agree with the guy, she needs to be evicted for not paying almost 41k . There needs to be laws to protect both landlord and tenant. I have seen landlord abuse tenants and vice versa with a variety of things. We need to know whole story before making any universal judgement, but she needs to move out in this particular case.

I never thought I couldn't come back if I wanted or needed to. My bet is you met a guy in Serbia (let's say) and want to be in a reasonable place where it's financially possible to build a home and start a family. Canada has seriously failed the 33 year old demographic, that's the truth, and doesn't deserve your gratitude. Any civilized country gives its young people opportunities, Canada was not unique in educating you and letting you believe that the future was promising

I'm a Canadian and I moved to Asia 20 years ago. My motivations for leaving were the endless winters, the absolute necessity of having a car and two sets of tires, crazy insurance prices, and getting taxed on everything without seeing benefits. Now when I visit I am shocked at the price of everything from food to gas to hotels. In addition, I hear that housing has gone through the roof. Many can't afford to buy and face bidding wars to rent a place. With oil, timber, minerals and more, Canada should not be in this position. The government(s) have really messed things up and need to start reversing these trends now.

I'm a Canadian living in the UK and can say two things - 1) if the West would stop bombing/exploiting/waging proxy wars in so many countries and displacing millions of people, this wouldn't be an issue. Stop funding war and pressure your reps to focus public funds back into your community. 2) The exploitative housing market has everything to do with corporate greed. We need to hold government and capitalism to account not immigrants. Blaming humans for wanting to survive is insane.
