The final scene at the new Canadians rally is nice to see. But what you’re not seeing are the THOUSANDS of people who aren’t success stories. People who bring nothing to the party but still need a place to live. I’m fine with immigration, I think Canada is a better place for being diverse. But you can’t just keep the tap on when the glass is already full. We need to turn off the immigration spigot for a while, catch up to get our services and housing to a level that is workable, then look at turning it back on with a smarter outlook on the numbers to bring in.

Canada, like Australia and etc., faces a fundamental issue that makes it reliant on—or even more severely, dependent on—immigration. Of course discussing this fundamental issue is inappropriate for Canadians. The housing crisis is not caused by immigrants. While you can criticize immigration policies, they are merely the straw that broke the camel's back. It's similar to inflation; like, even if it remains at 2% per year, we will still experience the peaks and troughs of business cycles, just less intensely. Sure you can have a public housing program, where does that money come from? More and more tax money. Having to work harder to only end up with paying more taxes for those who either did not have the opporunities or didn't work as hard (who cares what the actual reasons are), just feels like a ripoff.

They could still take people in who are in immediate danger. I mean, sure he's gotta point, but looking at another similar situation in Ukraine where people HAD to leave like elderly people, women and children who weren't in a position to fight the invading Russians, Western nations took in millions of refugees. I think Saudi Arabia could do more than just being spectators, but I guess they can't hear the plight of Palestinians due to the noise of their luxury cars ?.

The foreigners i encountered in Toronto were wealthy foreign non-resident owners of condos they rented out. I wonder who owns all the properties in Toronto. Are the owners still mostly foreign investors?\nCheck out who is rich instead of pitting poor against poor.

I live in rural Atlantic Canada. There is lots and lots of land not being used. People driving long distances from their huge single family home to get to town or the city. If no Canadians are moving to the country side to start homesteads, then why not immigrants. I don't see the point of someone moving to a local small town to work in a Tim Hortons or not if there is no job available and buy franken foods from huge corporations. Instead if some immigrants want a homesteading life (some probably would), give people grants to make apartments in their huge single family farmhouses left from the days when people had ten kids, and subdivide their land so the new people can farm it. The local people can get rent money and payment for the subdivision and still have a large plot of land left over). Grow the local farmers markets! Grow the small towns to what they were 100 years ago! Make it so people only had to drive to the city when they wanted to, not for work. There is so so much empty land out here used for massive lawns.

As an immigrant I totally support to stop mismanaged immigration. I came 14 years ago. Been trucking for 8 years. Still not able to achieve a small goal of a stress free live.. now even thinking to go back with nothing in hand.. all my hard-work and commitment is just gone in vain

For me. If you are going to be a landlord. The unit you have must be already paid, if its mortgage dont be a landlord. Because if its already fully paid, whatever happens at the end of the day its still your unit, and the landlord can still sell it the future for the higher price. I am still in favor of the law for the tenant, because this landlords, they tend to put higher price whenever they want, specially those under the table, what ever the trend they can increase the price, or depends on their mortgage interest. It happens to us before, our rent is 800, then next year they are asking for 1,100. So we just moved out, then they rent the place for 1200 for the next renter, now we rent in a legit apartment who follows the percentage each year of rent increase, so we pay on time.

I am a renter who has been evicted before because of a somewhat questionable N-12. I didn't fight it because I knew I would lose in the end. However, if I had fought it I would have still payed my rent. Always pay your rent.

So I'm wondering here if the tenant has not paid utilities, why is the landlord still paying to keep lights on. can the landlord not pay utilities and just have the lights and water turn off?? And this will then kick the tenant out?

...so after this aired...her family, friends, acquaintances and employer still see her as a good person?

I'm Canadian. Canada isn't the same anymore. Everyone is basically broke right now, no onr can find work, and if you can, you still won't be making enough to keep up with inflation. Mortages and rent have doubled, food prices are robbing us, and we are taxed significantly only for our tax dollars to be wasted. \n\nAnother issue is Crime. \nCrime has gone up, Especially in the past few years. Not only car thefts and scams, but violent crime too. Every week, an international student, or immigrant is charged with the murder of someone in my city. \n\nMy biggest issue is that they can't find drive very well either.\n\nI'm not racist. Most Canadians are tolerant to immigration. However, we are fed up with the large number of immigrants the Federal government keeps bringing in. We have a massive housing shortage and they still increase immigration despite the shortage. The Federal Liberals believe housing speculators are the problem, so they put in a vacant home tax to prevent it, but how do you enforce this?\nThe real solution is to roll back immigration to 250,000 new Canadians a year until the housing shortage is somewhat taken care of.

Well the same happens in HK when HK government, which its citizens never voted for, welcomes thousands and thousands of mainland Chinese immigrants every year (who are very rich) for work, investment (money laundering) and university degrees and the rent goes up every year like crazy, and all they want is a HK passport so they can then move overseas, and they still shame and mock HK for fighting for democracy

It took some years to realize but I did become grateful for being born in Canada. There are still some other great countries but I do believe Canada is one of them. Lets hope our government does not ruin it. ?

The rise of of these problems across western nations and the anger and frustration is because of failed economic policies that has left a vast majority of the population struggling to cope with high costs of living and lack of stability in their ability to provide for their families!! For people who complain about Canada and wanna move back think twice, thrice and n more number of times.\nLife is expensive here and it's cheap nowhere. Taxes are high but the benefits are worth it. In my country, I gave up 30% of my salary purely for my children's school and bus fare, which is torally free of cost here.\n\nI was well versed with my local language and had a specialist dentist degree but still no job, whereas here even a mere DDS (undergraduate dentist) with poor English mints money.\n\nWhen i was jobless this country bore with me 70% of my family's total expenditure thru benefits and schooled plus comfortably yet freely transported my child which none of our home countries ever did (even Govt schools in my country charge a minimal fee and pupils' standard is deplorable).\nSo, yes, Canada is not a bed of roses to start with, but we never came from a bed of roses ?\n\nAnd one final note to people praising the US - ATLEAST I CAN VISIT A SHOPPING MALL IN CANADA AT PEACE THAT I WONT BE SHOT AT ?

Meanwhile, the US government, European government and western media are busy making trouble in other countries. Creating civil war. Then the people in that country fled to the US and Europe. 1st thought - *STOP being an IL Literate* and learn the difference between Immigration & seeking asylum/refugee status. Even if Canada stops all immigration tomorrow - it is still obligated to accept asylum status.

Place people in places and jobs where we need the workers and the housing isnt over occupied outside of the overcummbered gta and where labourers are needed. But if you tell people they need to go work a gas line out west or mine up north in the cold instead off over populating the major metropolitan places would they still come? Is there not still lots of affordable rural canadian residences all over the country but you may not have the creature comforts of the biggers metro areas.

The video literally calls out the fact that the Canadian economy needs immigrant workers and that the problem is an artificially constricted housing market and the comments are all still providing excuses why Canada should commit economic suicide by restricting immigration lol. You would think these people are de-growthers, which would be valid, but they still want their exponential economic growth cake and eat it all by themselves.

The only hope for this country is Poilievre. I say this as someone who is shall we say less than enamored of him. But he's the only guy who is going to slow this flood down, and he's said he will do just that. I visited Canada 15 years ago and that was my vision of the country. Sadly, although still being a first world country, is decaying. Im living in Canada because that was my dream 15 years ago, and although still a good option, is definitely not what I was expecting.

With the people do still not understand why the governor a state, the chief of police of cities, the DAs and judges of cities, Congress, and that Mr. sitting in the White House that people of the United States of America, do not give you permission to bring these people in to our country!!!!!
