Honestly it’s not that I’m completely opposed to immigration in the proper amounts but currently the were kinda eating a** in the housing department, so it feels as though we’re giving space for something that doesn’t completely exist yet, which is also drowning out legitimate citizens from being able to have affordable housing, therefore causing some sort of aggression towards people trying to get away from they own crap, but everyone needs housing and likes it affordable so it’s understandable. Maybe we could handle this sort of intake in like 30-50 years easily, but we’re filling a bucket that has so much going into it, I’m not knowledgeable on Canadian happenings to know all the intricacies. I feel lot of this started as a solution to solve the population crisis, and now immigration has ended up as Canada's addiction. People who run out of visa should leave, sure, but it's basic human instinct to try and stick to the better place. Alright. The median age in Canada is 41years. That means in 20 years, majority of the population would be close to retirement, which also means that if a younger population is not 'brought in' it would be disastrous for the economy. I wanted so badly to become a Canadian but sadly, after living in Vancouver for 1.5 years, it became apparent that staying in BC would mean never being able to afford to start a business (let alone buy a house) and that making friends was not something locals were interested in doing. I discovered that Canadians were exceedingly polite and helpful to others in the community, but not friendly. The difference is someone being kind enough to return a lost wallet (with the money/cards still in it!! WOW) or phone but won't invite you to their homes, join friend groups, or social circles. Side note.. I also learned that I prefer more overt racism than the polite version experienced in Canada. At least you know where you stand with someone..
