Students are students, they need to return back after education. Why a sense being created that they can stay here forever. And then there are ghost schools. Immigration needs to be reigned in at the same time.

The govt has lost the plot, they add 1.5 million immigrants every year. There aren't jobs, houses, roads, hospitals, infrastructure for this huge addition.

As an immigrant in Canada, I don’t think those interviewed are anti-immigration; they’re just pointing out a true fact: there’s no structure to welcome more people. It’s that simple. Why invite more people if they can’t support the ones already here?

It is not the immigrate the problem, it is a political problem trying to do too much too fast. The Federal government needs to understand the capacity of their own country and how to build more infrastructure and do we have the money to do it.

Odd that Guardian makes a video on anti-immigration sentiments in Canada, while their own country burns on anti-immigration riots!

It is quite convenient that this is only now happening come election time. They see that their defeat is inevitable, so they now try to meet the demands of Canadians. Where was this when it was needed five years to a decade ago? The Liberals have really done irreversible damage. It is extremely disheartening to see the number of immigrants coming and the number of Canadians leaving this beautiful country.

How is every country all of a sudden anti immigration?

This is just as harmful for new immigrants coming in, as it is for existing Canadians who already live here. This is a country of immigrants, so when the people who push back on this flooding of the country are called racists for it, it's a bold-faced lie. No decent Canadian is anti-immigrant, but they are against a planned demolition of the nation.

canada needs more immigrants, but they need to be more diverse. african continent is underrepresented, india and europe are overrepresented. bring in more africans and latinos and middle easterners.

What’s anti immigration? Is it hatred towards foreigners? Or is it simply limited empathy towards immigrants? Big difference, the former is irrational and most Canadians bear no ill feelings towards immigrants, especially refugees. The latter is about rationality, not letting emotions dictate national policy. No one will argue that unlimited empathy towards your own children is the most desirable practice of parenthood. Then why should a country never even question whether immigration policy is benefiting the society in the name of empathy, compassion???

Without a LOT of immigration the truth is that western countries like Canada and most European countries would simply collapse in a few decades for the problem of demographic decrease... My european country of 10 million habitants is being literally 'invaded' by a huge influx of immigrants as we speak and to be honest there is no other way to make the country viable in the long term. We the western people stopped having kids decades ago and now there's no turning back...

This is happening around the world. There must be a common theme, no? The war waged in the Middle East by the US military agenda started this. The madness they unleashed there removing leaders which created a terror vacuum that installed fanatical groups in leadership positions. It's genuinely exhausting to watch even so-called progressive outlets like the guardian foment fear and anger against migrants and refugees rather than someone, anyone, possibly questioning whether the incentives for property developers and landlords might, in-fact, be a potential factor in the ongoing housing crisis. But sure, it must be immigration to blame for the exact same housing crisis happening across Canada, Australia, the US, the UK and half of Europe, must be just that one simple factor and definitely not any other systemic or economic factors which might underlie how housing, governance, and migration are linked. \n\nBecause all of those countries certainly have one thing in common, and you're all correct, they all have identical immigration policies, right? Right? Couldn't be the hyper-commodification of housing and development rights stoked under the neo-liberal systems of governance which ACTUALLY forms a shared commonality between these countries. But that would be hard to think about, best just to blame the immigrants, makes life easy breezy. Can't see any problems down the line with that line of thought, right Britain? We'll just keep doing race riots every decade then, instead of actually trying to agitate against any of the problems at the heart of this issue. Solved. Too easy.

Fact is average student spend somewhere 15k to 30k including heafty college fees and Government knows that. The Infact government opened a business by calling unqualified immigrants and ruined the integrity of the country.

I'm an immigrant for 25 years and I have to agree, Canada is overtaking immigrants. The infrastructure is not enough to accept those numbers. People are having trouble finding e rent, forget about the housess

Because Canadian born students with exceptional grades have difficulty accessing post secondary money first institutions perhaps? Or when non-canadian born immigrants purchase a gas station and purge the canadin born kids and hire one race? Or when non-canadian born managers only hire from their ethnic group in security jobs? Because temporary foriegn workers keep wages low? I guess they're paying CPP to keep it afloat.

Canada’s quality of immigrants has gone down drastically over the years. That is the truth. While the US has upheld their standard, Canada seems to have slacked in that. That is the problem. You need quality immigrants coming in who can integrate without having to assimilate. You can maintain your cultural identity but also integrate into Canadian society similar to how the US allows. Canada I hope you get your immigration policies back on track. Your American neighbors worry about you.

1/4 Canadians are in poverty and we’re bringing in more third world people. Housing is up, cost of living is up. We don’t want a forever anti immigrant mindset just temporarily until we get our feet back under us.

We live in a post immigration society. There's numerous people here now. Jobs are becoming automated and AI will change the job market in the years to come.

Why cant these people just make their own Countries a nice place to live.? I don’t think it is anti immigration in general, it is more anti Indian immigration. Look at Brampton and many other parts of Ontario and BC Almost no diversity in some cities. It doesn’t feel like Canada. Every Tim Hortons, truck drivers, many Indian international students, gas stations. Look at the job fairs, mostly Indians. What happened to diversity.

Exact same issue in Australia. High immigration levels despite the ongoing housing crisis and cost of living crisis. Local people are living in cars and tents, but the government wants to bring in millions more foreign immigrants. It doesn't make sense and it's not racist to say so.

Most people realize this has nothing to do with a persons race. Its population size. When you increase population size drastically it effects infrasture when government dont invest x amount of dollars into system. You have to plan. Look at our housing market. SUPPLY AND DEMAND ISSUES. When you increase population size and there's not enough homes to house people that only increases the costs. Whats going on is suicide to alot of people. Also media does not want to report why Liberal government has 4x increased immigration in a yr span compared to 1x. Also why is there racial preference for India? The amount of immigration coming in from India is much higher then other races. I'm curious about that.

Most Canadians are tolerant to immigration. However, we are fed up with the large number of immigrants the Federal government keeps bringing in. We have a massive housing shortage and they still increase immigration despite the shortage. The Federal Liberals believe housing speculators are the problem, so they put in a vacant home tax to prevent it, but how do you enforce this?\nThe real solution is to roll back immigration to 250,000 new Canadians a year until the housing shortage is somewhat taken care of.

Honestly these anti immigrant ruin arguments are so flawed. If someone else was in their shoes they would be upset if they were denied access to a better life, everybody has a problem with it till they’re in the same situation

I have met very few people against immigration outright. Usually most people have opinions on the methods. The last 9 years has been an almost unchecked immigration policy. That needs to stop. For immigrants to come here and be stuck in a loop like this not being able to support themselves is evidence of how sloppy the immigration policy has become.

I think the real reason are:\n\n1. Refugees from Ukraine, Afghanistan, Syria and Asylum seekers from Africa.\n2. Foreign investment in housing was allowed until 2022 which played a major part in prices going up.\n3. 1+ Million International students allowed in 3 years.\n4. Average Canadian doesn't want to work a minimum wage job, especially now working with foreign people.\n\nBlaming one government, country or race wont help. That is just jealousy towards most common looking immigrant, which are South Asians.

I love immigrants. I hate that we don't have a system that supports the challenges that come with massive growth.

The government wants us to populate more of the rural areas of canadian and let new immigrants enjoy the life of the city.
