I hope every one is left living on the streets,and dying of starvation, everything they deserve from coming to a country without even knowing english.

The problem here is everybody is blaming these poor people that want to come over for a better life and opportunity to get away from a corrupt government that has them in poverty, with no hope of prospering! Maybe we are the ones that need a heart check❤ there are things that people have had to go through to be in this country for a normal life like floating on a raft for over a week or walking through 100° desert ? mountainous, terrain with children, risking their lives, or having to cross tumultuous rivers, Some will never know the hardships and the desperation, that others have had to endure in this life just for a hope of the better tomorrow less the sorrow ?❤ we take things for granted in this country not realizing that we truly are the Promised Land that everyone is seeking ❤

Our biggest problem is the amount of foreign investment and the sheer amount of immigration year over year. \n\nThere is some housing available (owned by landlords who own entire complexes) however either the prices are jacked way up or they are converted to a BNB unit which turns canadian home buyers away. \n\nWe do not have the infrastructure to support 500,000 new immigrants with government and native regulations stiffling the means to expand to support the influx of newcomers. Even then, most of the immigrants are tradesmen coming to a tech rich country.\n\nAlso our government is more corrupt than one would think with most of the larger corporations being government owned or partnered leading to a monopoly in many industries.

Incorrect, Canada is not white people hating on black people nor any other race. It is the other way around. The truth is that Canada is segregated. Asian, East Indian, French etc. & all have their own communities and don't mix much. This is also true for the Alphabet people. Most crimes are not committed by whites against other races. I hate this so much. I know it’s not these peoples fault that their countries aren’t helping them but America isn’t even helping its own people. Imagine how it feels to be from the US struggling and then these people come and somehow our country has the means to help them when they won’t not can’t won’t help their own. What other country do you know of where you can just decide to cross their boarder demand help and say you know what I’m just going to live here illegally now. And if we don’t help them they have all kinds of ways to sue the state and demand help even though they’re not even citizens. That’s what’s crazy to me. I don't think anyone truly understands how difficult, time-consuming and painful the US immigration process is unless they either work in the system or have immigrated. My dad has been waiting for an F4 visa since 2007 (priority date December 2007) to come to the US and be reunited with his family, It doesn't look like he'll get the visa within the next 5 years even though he's been waiting for 16 years.He's just one of the millions of people trapped in the broken American immigration system.His experience has thought me to never even try to immigrate to the US.

Hi Tyler, born and raised Cdn here. I have American relatives and ancestors. I spent a lot of time going to the States to visit them when I was young and US felt like our big brother back then. Nice, clean, safe, fun and just big. Heck, when I was 15 I even took the Greyhound bus from Toronto to San Francisco. I've been back a few times but last was in 2015. Lkg to come back maybe this Christmas. I know media is biased but to give you some explanation, we don't have guns up here to the extent you guys do. Of course we have crime and sick things do happen up here but, we don't have to fear that every single person we come in to contact w is packin a gun. And the news intensifies our fear of that one aspect of your country's culture. And yes, the amount of mass shootings at schools terrifies us. I am sad to also see the political extremism in the US now. I miss the US of my childhood and certainly do agree, small town rural people are salt of the earth there. I even found New Yorkers nicer than Torontonians.

Disappointing you rushed over a respondent's feeling about the abortion issue in the US as it is completely on point. Health care costs are one thing (actually huge) but when you're forced to carry a fetus to term against your will (would any man?) that alone is why no woman would put her hand up to head to your neck of the woods - for her own sake and for that of her daughter's and any other female for that matter (Canadians tend to care about other people not just themselves). If you want to know why someone WOULD leave Canada for the US, it would likely be for family; or warmer weather...but at this point you guys are on fire and family can come visit us here. We are blessed here for so many reasons (fresh water, beautiful country, health care, freedom to choose, freedom to be gay or straight or whatever you are) and while my mom was American and I have cousins and even a nephew in Florida, and I used to love visiting my grandparents in Vermont and New Jersey as a kid, the whole landscape of the US has changed to one of in your face racism, hatred against women, the LGBTQ and everyone who is not caucasian, not to mention the whole gun business. You guys have lost any appeal whatsoever no matter how hard you crow about how great your country is. Everyone knows the truth about your history and the politically driven obsession to cover it up by attacking everything from books and what can be taught in schools. Just enough.

This Canadian lived in Orange County CA for 10 years. I took my the 12 year old with me. I had been offered my dream job and was paid enough to have a good standard of living. However, I lived in an immigrant community to save money as I found many of the high schools were horrid compared to Canada. I had not realized the school to school inequality to be so extreme and my kid changed to independent study at home. So with a Canadian elememtary education, they graduated high school a year only while skipping no courses..\n\nMy kid had medical issues and even with good HMO insurance, we could never get a decent diagnosis until it had gotten so bad that their digestive system was so wrecked. I finally sent them back to Canada for the surgery that we could not get in the USA. It seemed the insurance companies kept getting in the way. And in one case a doctor went all religious on us. After 6 years of almost continuous pain they finally got relief for a decade until the prior damage came back to haunt them However, after a year of university ib Canada my kid went to a private university in the eastern USA. They have decided to remain in the USA and now in their mid 30s, they make really good money anf have top line medical insurance which pays for the ongoing care they need because of the damage caused by delays when a teenager. \n\nI found life in the suburbs of Orange County nice but the OC is not a good place to meet people. When after 10 years there, in 2010 I returned to Vancouver to care for my elderly mother. I had been living alone for 6 years by then and was offered the first job in Vancouver anything close to me dream job there. and I returned to Canada at age 59. I had been approved for a green card in 2008 but there was a 6 year wait for it to come through. But I noticed the racism in the USA start breaking out all over the place when Obama got elected. And it has gotten worse and worse every year. Especially with 45 enabling it so much. \n\nMy circle of friends in Southern California are mainly good people and not at all like what we call MAGA-hats now. Except one who thinks 45 was the greatest. Politically, the USA is on the path that Germany was on in 1933 and I fear for the US Democracy if the Orange One gets in again. Even my kid and their spouse have bug out plans to head to Canada just in case. This is why my kid, while having a green card has never taken US citizenship. Besides, being a Canadian has not affected things the two times they got security clearances \n\nWhile most Americans are good people, it seems that about 25% have gone just plain loco and care nothing about democracy. And appear to prefer the USA to be a totalitarian theocracy \n\nI was there long enough, paying the maximum FICA taxes for 10 years to get a small pension from Social Security and I have Medicare Part A. I can afford to buy parts B and D but I see no reason. I have even better coverage in Canada for way less cost. The USA has a nice warm climate in many places and I just loved that. But otherwise y'all have too many people who want to turn the place into an intolerant police state and to return the country to 1950s levels of intolerance, So in my retirement, I will stay here in Canada. Even though I could go and move in with my kid in the USA and get onto US Medicare.

I think one thing this video fails to mention is to why the system is the way it is. Saying 'broken' doesn't mean anything. It's really this was as an attempt (maybe a poor one) to make things more fair. There are so many people trying to come to America it's almost impossible to make it happen for everyone. And taking in only highly skilled people is also not an answer.

I'm Canadian and worked in Dertoit for almost 10 years, I crossed the border daily working for GM. I've also done work in Louisiana, Indiana and all around Michigan. \nAmerica has some of the nicest people I've ever had the pleasure of knowing. It's a beautiful country and has a ton to offer anyone with an ounce of drive. The variety you have in your economy is amazing, we don't have a lot of choice when we buy stuff, you guys have so much more to choose from, take restaurants for example, I've never seen so many chain restaurants in one place, we have a handful of them. \nFrom what I've seen, there's also a lot of poverty, crime and violence, but that's literally everywhere right now, even here in Canada, we don't prosecute violent crime anymore. The gun issue is probably the biggest problem...I always felt extremely vulnerable out in public, especially driving, because I assumed everyone had a gun on them, I seen so many random guns on people, it just blew my mind. I always had to keep in mind when I was driving not to road-rage...That's how you get shot. The health care industry in America is nothing but a business model designed to bankrupt people. Our system isn't great at all...nothing to boast about. If you have to visit the ER at any hospital, you'd better bring food and water, you'll be there at least 8 hours before you're even seen by a doctor. Our health care is free yes, but we're taxed to death here because of it. I do indeed wish we had a 2-teir health care system, I want the option to pay to get seen soonest. America and Canada have free(ish) speech. We're both being ruled by leftist loonies, but that's all changing in our next respective election cycles. Biden and Trudeau will be shown the door and we can hopefully get back to healthy debate and more conversation in society...Instead of automatically dismissing each other, vitriolic badgering one another and hating each other. We had unity for a brief time, we all saw it, after 9/11 happened. We put our petty crap aside and saw each other as brothers and sisters. That didn't last very long and we've been in a constant state of crisis ever since. The media has driven a huge nail right through society, and takes a blow at every single issue we face, making it Left vs Right...\nIt's unfortunate to say, but it's going to take something truly devastating, possibly on a biblical scale, for us to come together again.

I did my masters here in US and have been working for past 5 yrs, in total 7 years. My company just initiated my i140 application which will take around 3 yrs to complete then the wait for GC will start for 15yrs (for Indians only). During this time we are at the employers mercy. We do get high salaries. But we are in a perpetually limbo. Its hard to find a spouse, start a family or invest in property as your future here is uncertain. \n\nThe H1B lottery system was introduced to keep the selection fair, as there are limited number of applications accepted each year. Hence it is a gamble for immigrants wanting to come here to study and work. The chance of getting H1B is almost 50/50. H1B visa is a temporary work visa, it was designed to be applicable for 3-4yrs until one gets the GC. But because of GC country backlog folks are on it for 15-20yrs.\n\nThe Greencard country limits were introduced in 2009 as the US government felt they needed diversity in the country. They were scared that US will be filled with Indians and Chinese immigrants. Hence the country caps on each country on GC. So if one is born in Nepal, Sri Lanka or Pakistan they get their GC within 1-3 yrs. Where as Indians need to wait 15-20yrs. But here is the wired part, they only consider the country of birth NOT citizenship. Ex: My friend was born in Oman and was raised in India, he is Indian and has Indian citizenship. He got his GC in 1 yr. \n\nThese H1B policies are not a priority to the US government as H1B folks do not have voting rights. They do not have any incentives to change the legacy policies. And we as immigrants in US have no voice except to sit back and pray we get lucky. \n \nThanks for shining a light on this issue. Appreciate it!!

You've explained it very well. For people like us who have gone through both systems, details about it are like second nature to us, like breathing. But I really want to correct that express entry in Canada is very varied and you don't necessarily need to have a job offer. A combination of your degrees, or the years of work experience you already have could likely already be enough to be approved. It's a very transparent point-based system that you can calculate on your own. Another thing to mention you forgot to mention is Green Card is still not citizenship. You need to have a green card for 5 more years before you can apply for US citizenship as opposed to only a few years in Canada. I moved from a very high paying job in the US (after studying in a US university) for exactly this reason to Canada. I took a large pay cut (still 6 figures), but I was express entry approved in 1.5 years. A year has passed since, and I'm eligible for citizenship in less than 6 months. \n\nIt is a game-changing system for Canada and it will have massive benefits down the line as skilled talent from the US drains to Canada. It will not be apparent yet, but it will become apparent in the near future. I plan to start many businesses and employ people. Canada took me in when the US did not, and so I will definitely start businesses in Canada instead and create employment here. A lot of skilled talent is reasoning along the same lines and a massive shift in the headwinds is coming.\n\nPS - The one thing Canada is not doing well, is housing. The system is set up correctly, but not enough housing is being built, cities expanded, or any coordination done to make sure people are settling in a more distributed manner. This needs to be fixed ASAP. The prices are becoming outrageous rivalling the US. Canada has always been so sparse, it's not prepared for this. It needs housing construction on war footing. I don't see the current government taking it seriously.

Absolutely not…never. When I travelled there to check on my husband’s rental properties (yes, he is a Canadian who owns properties in the U.S.) I was always surprised at our employees, tenants, who treated us as second class citizens, as “CrazyCanucks”, and mostly, incredulous that we could actually legally own American companies….and yes, we paid all taxes due. \nThe U.S. is a beautiful country but, unfortunately, all too often, there is a superiority attitude that permeates every exchange…a we (Americans), vs them (Canadians) approach. As with many other Canadians we knew who had businesses in the U.S., our experience as Canadians doing business in the U.S., was also theirs. \nI will end by acknowledging that I know many beautiful & amazing Americans that I have come to love and immensely respect. I also have Canadian relatives who live in the U.S. and have dual citizenship. I respect them, therefore respect their decision to make the U.S. their home. \nLast but not least, the U.S. rarely acknowledge us, Canadians, as their neighbour, their political ally and they always mention other countries as allies but very rarely acknowledge Canada as an important one. \nI LOVE Canada and all that it stands for. ❤️??❤️ I will always stay in Canada.

As an immigrant to the US, you summed up the issue very nicely. Another thing I noticed is that people who cannot get an h1b visa sometimes would go to Canada, get a Canadian passport to secure an insurance, and then come look for a job on TN visa or EB1 visa in the US. As an immigrant who comes to the US on a EB3 visa, I really hope that the US can prioritize employment based visas instead of family based or even illegals immigrants for the future of the country. One thing that makes a lotta EB immigrants scratch our heads is that why would the US government put all their efforts in taking in illegal immigrants and grant them a safe path to citizenship instead of taking care of the ones coming in legally first. Not to say the other group isn’t important, but it’s a weird way to prioritize things.

8:15 there’s a reason for this. It’s a melting pot in America. Bringing all these different cultures together… but if too many from one country show up, they’ll make a community too large that they don’t need to melt with the population. There are Chinatowns and Little Italys and whole Mexican communities, but ultimately everyone has to interact with everyone else. Allowing 300,000 Indians to get green cards every year and only 1,000 Norwegians would lead to the Norwegians merging well with the country, while the Indians would all move to one or two cities and make entire sections of the cities like small versions of their own country. Which is the last thing we want. Once an immigrant community gets enough power to be a voting block, things are scary, but once it has enough power that they start getting their own representatives and passing laws for the rest of us? Laws the look like laws they had back in their own countries… that led them to run from their countries in the first place? It’s a concern. We want people to adapt to the USA and not try to adapt the USA to them. Over time, the US does change due to the growing voting blocs. But that’s after generations of those immigrant populations getting larger, and their children being born and raised in the country they’ve adapted to. When I see a protest of Muslim immigrants burning pride flags, or Chinese and Spanish-speaking Hispanic immigrants who never bothered to learn English, I see problems with our immigration system. But the kids of the Arab immigrants will be more tolerant, and the Hispanic kids will have grown up in American schools. Most Chinese-American kids might speak some Chinese at home with their parents, but they’re worse at it, and their first language is English. It takes second Generation immigrants to really start meshing with America. But if entire school districts are all Indian, and every store, restaurant, and business in a whole town is Indian, then those kids won’t adapt to America. They won’t get bits of their home culture from their time at home and with their neighbors, while also getting bits of American culture from their classmates and other people around them. Nope. They’ll only be exposed to the first Generation who completely took over the area- IF, we allowed for unfettered immigration from the largest countries. It’s a fact that immigrant communities like to stick together. But if not enough people are in that community that you need to reach out to others around you, it helps expose you to the rest of America… Anyway! There are a ton of shows that indirectly show this phenomena. Fresh Off the Boat. The Sopranos. Even Brooklyn 99. We see as traditional and hard-to-adapt parents have to deal with kids in the next generation who are more American, don’t follow the same customs and traditions as their parents, and overall just left more of their old culture behind. No one is asking that immigrants abandon their cultural ties, but if you come to America, there are things that people need to change and accept if they’re going to live here.

I have mixed feelings about this video. This video does a good job outlining the immigration process but it does not highlight any of the negative consequences of immigration that Canada is experiencing. One of the main reasons why cost of living is so high in Toronto and Vancouver is precisely because we have so many immigrants coming in without enough housing supply. This is by design because politicians and the upper class have a vested interest in keeping real estate prices high because so much of their net worth is tied up in the housing market.\n\nAnother negative is that employers hire immigrants working low skilled jobs and pay them less than Canadians because the immigrants are willing to be taken advantage of since they're just happy to have a job in Canada which pays better than their country. \n\nAnother myth that gets repeated is that Canadian takes immigrants out of compassion and unfortunately a lot of Canadians believe this. It was never about compassion, it's about bringing more people to 1) pay taxes to support our social welfare as Canadian birth rates decline and boomers retire, 2) keep housing costs high and 3) pay immigrants lower wages for the same work because immigrants are fine being exploited since they have a job in a first world country.\n\nAnother problem is the cultural shift. In the most immigrant-dense regions you'll find that many immigrants themselves surprisingly don't want more immigrants coming to Canada because they see these negative consequences. The people who are most pro-immigration have no problem cramming 8+ people in a basement and exploiting their labour because they make enough money to live in communities that immigrants can't afford, and so they don't have to deal with the cultural shift that's taking place. This is NOT the fault of immigrants, but rather the politicians who put economic growth over quality of life. Over HALF the people in the GTA weren't born in Canada, so they didn't go through our school system and have no connection to our culture. Canada is unfortunately going to become very racist over the next 10-20 years as Canadians start feeling like outsiders in their own country. It's somehow considered racists to criticize the effect of multiculturalism on social unity, yet the cultures we accept in Canada only became distinct cultures because of monoculturalism.

We dont have good relationship with Venezuela. We wont even sit down with them with their neighbors sitting down too. \nWe squander opportunities to talk with the lower Americas because we let money dictate our foreign policies. \nWe are the definition of bottle neck policy makers. We make decisions one one day that make the coming months more problematic than need be!

One thing I would like to note is that Canada is not welcoming in only highly skilled workers. If you can work at a Tim Horton's you qualify. This has lead to a flood of new workers who HAVE to have a job in order to stay at a time where the existing labour pool is refusing work due to pay lagging far behind inflation for two decades. Those salaries discrepancies you listed are not exclusive to the tech sector, they are economy wide. Often you'll here talk of a labour shortage in Canada, but ask for the number of applicants to jobs and you quickly find out the reason no one accepted is because the full-time job offered requires a part-time job to barely make ends meet. \n\nAnother factor is that housing happens to be the bread and butter of ~40% of our MP's. Hell our Minister of Housing himself owns properties that have appreciated massively due to the lack of supply and high demand. He then goes on national TV and says high immigration will solve the housing crisis despite Canada already having over 4% of our entire labour force already in the construction industries (America is a little over 3%) and the men and women who build our houses being unable to afford the homes they build ($22.07/hr CAD average or ~$16.66 USD. compared to $22.29/hr USD). 14% of our national GDP is housing. 14% of our entire economy is just money changing hands internally with nothing of value made. \n\nThen you have the combo of landlords benefiting from the immigration programs who try and evict the tenants on their properties to replace them with immigrant labour. They then take the cost of rent right out of their salaries. The workers can't quit their jobs because if they don't have a job they are at risk of being deported and also loosing their homes so they end up shacking 8 to an apartment to try and make ends meet. This becomes the standard the rest of the economy has to meet. \n\nIt is a rare sight to see someone who is anti-immigrant in Canada, but the majority of people here understand that immigration is a problem the way it is currently run. You have people who come here hoping for a new life being forced to sleep outside under bridges because while they may have a job they don't have a home and the shelters are already 200% capacity. Tent cities are the norm in any major urban centre now. There are crack dens in Toronto that are the same price as Castles in the UK. And this problem is only going to get worse.

This is highly biased just because they have moved to Canada doesn’t necessarily mean that Australia is any less .Both are DEVELOPED nations to be very precise .Australia has the highest wedge rates and yes as compared it’s hard to get into Australia than Canada because Australia is more into skilled workers it’s twice the size of India with only 2.5 cr of population and they manage their population and jobs at their best which is commendable and the same is with Canada as well .Every country has their own norms and have their pros and cons just because one couple has faced some issue with Australia doesn’t necessarily mean all the people have faced the same thing again it depends on the field you are working at . Covid has changed perspective and situations of every country one more Point Australia has never entered recession in 4 decades that’s a great point to consider . There is nothing wrong if these developed nations having strict barriers to consider people from outside as they want to manage things at their best be it for their own or international people living their which is the best thing any country can do for themselves and most importantly what people need to understand if they are from developing nations is that any developed country will be difficult be it CANDA ,AUSTRALIA etc nothing comes easy so to anyone getting little inclined towards any country I will highly recommend to have an intensive research on this as moving to any developed nations is not easy people have different mindset and perception you can decide what is best for you .?

The problem with Canadas economy is that the canadian government is 10000 percent dependant on running its economy using the IMPORTED money of so called immgrants from Asia and Middle east into Rear Estating, permanently creating hyper inflation in housing prices and ensuring the banking ponzi scheme does not collapse, as their money in real estate bails out Canadians and banks, via higher and higher and higher home prices. I lived in Canada from 1983 to 2016 after I left the US Air Force in '83. I was born in the SF Bay area, and grew up there in the Hippie peace love/Viet Nam era in the 60's and 70's. I now live in Seattle. As we have travelled to San Fran, New Orleans, Nashville, Miami, Vancouver (Canada) and New York in the last 6 months, I kinda have a pretty good idea how it was on both sides of the border way back then, as well as right now. We have 2 rental homes, and I STILL have to work until I'm 70 to retire without worrying about losing it all because of the the high cost of health care. Your observation of race/political/religion relations are naive at best, you need to travel the country first hand to see it. Canada has it's far share of right wing crazies as well. They're mostly not armed, and most fights are 5 minute shouting matches. I know this because I work on construction sites. Canada doesn't have commercials for pharma or ambulance chasers. Because big pharma is kept in check, and with a population slightly smaller than California, frivolous lawsuits would clog the courts. If the PM killed some one on the corner of Yonge and Bloor in Toronto, he'd go to jail. You can get an abortion in Canada. There's a fraction of the Fentanyl crisis happening in Canada, and they have waaayy less homeless in the street. Canada has 2 weeks paid vacation AND paid holidays. The tax rate is higher in Canada, but many of the benefits make up the difference. It's cheaper to buy a house in Seattle than Vancouver. You can get a 30 year mortgage in Washington as well, instead of 5 or 10 years. Good and services tend to be cheaper and more plentiful Stateside. Mail service runs on weekends, it hasn't done that in Canada since the 80's. As it stands, I'm in Seattle right now because it isn't the typical US city by far. But I'm thinking when it comes to retiring, I'm putting Canada on the list. Being a dual citizen also makes me eligible for the other Commonwealth (universal health care) countries like Australia.

I really hope you read these comments Tyler. You are so blinded by the American propaganda machine and I really suggest you at least do some travelling out of country for a prolonged period of time to see how the rest of the world really is. I hope some of these harsher comments at least open your eyes. I am born and raised Canadian who used to spend about a month a year in the states and now I can’t say I’ll go back. The gun violence just in the last few years is sickening. Having bad places to live doesn’t apply to the US anymore, everywhere is bad to live and it’s only a matter of time before the reality comes to YOUR small town. Usually I really like your videos but this one hits a little too hard on how everyone in America has been brainwashed into thinking their normal is ‘great’. Very discouraged podcast for people who have worked hard here , this is just a view point from one perspective, think about that how people who are like earning minimum wage in canada are not living a deprived life as more of the population live in india , we all come from a good background in india , but everyone desrves a good life that is not avaible in india , the people from remote villages in india , can stand up to the level of people working in Multinationals in india basically there is huge gap status in india which leads to so many problems overall , very very negative perspective of these ladies . Very disappointing.

The country needs to round up these people and put them in consentration camps don’t give them free everything.
