You are absolutely right dear. I've lived in Canada since November 1968, moving from England where I consider trying to live there to be even worst than Canada. I am 82 years old now, having survived through a number of hard times here. However when I have finally paid off my mortgage, I'm going to have a little money to travel for three or four months every year, but I have to stay in Canada for at least 183 days each year to continue receiving my pension.

Just regarding your crime stats and your section about safety - the homicide rate in Canada, and across all Canadian cities is very very very low relative to other comparable cities around the world, particularly the United States. For example, Toronto’s homicide rate in 2022 was 2.5 per 100,000 - compare this to a city like Chicago, comparable in size and population, which is 24 per 100,000. And this is not even nearly the highest in the US (which is St. Louis, MS at 69.4 per 100,000). The large percentage increase you mentioned in Canada’s national homicide rate is likely due to the fact that you are dealing with low base numbers to begin with - so small absolute increases can yield high percentages, and make it look much worse than it really is. Other types of reported crime may be up, and people may FEEL less safe (due to high levels of vagrancy, increased media reporting, and politicisation of crime trends) but Canada still remains a very safe place to live.

It's funny how they relate not being able to afford a place or basic needs to mental health! The amount of money politicians make, doctors make, police make is absolutely ridiculous! All of the GTHA has changed... I grew up in oakville / burlington, used to go into Toronto a lot, have lots of friends in mississauga, but just within the last I'd say 5 - 7 years nothing is the same as it was. The entire region gentrified or simply went through a rapid social, economic, and culture change. Oakville where I grew up has absolutely nothing similar to what it was when I was a living there, and pretty much my entire age group had to move somewhere else to afford to move on with our lives or stay stagnant and stuck in renting situations. \n\nIt's quite shocking and sad. I am living in GTA since 1993. Initially I had been a factory first 11 years. Ever since i did not get job based on my skills, it was far big difference.\nLater in 2001 i started to work in IT Industry, after this10 years this industry started to decline.\nCurrently i do still find a job, but that is like a contingent worker and now i work 6 months in a year. My kids have grown up, and other than a miracle, there is nothing of a skill that can you depend upon.\nMoreover Canada has failed sense a difference between faithful citizenship and rogue communities. So rogue communities are have 2 jobs (cheat fully) and there are some people i know are working on 3 jobs absolutely have less real skills than me.

People who have grown up in Christian majority Western countries are absolutely supportive of Muslims moving to Muslim majority theocratic countries, and staying there. Of course I wouldn't dream of moving to a theocratic Muslim country and try to change it to my preference. So why should Muslims move to these Western countries that protect minorities and enshrine religious freedoms into their law and try to change it all to their preference? Absolutely, I agree with the Transgender issues and I agree with the needles on the ground and homelessness. Our Gov has slacked off in a lot of ways. I was thinking the same thing to run back to my parents country in the South Pacific. One thing I have to say “Religion”was created to segregate mankind we are all a highly evolved Human race. It’s an illusion, to not being able to find the truth in one’s self. We all can practice our faith or connection to God. We can openly pray anywhere. I left two years ago for most of the same reasons you guys mentioned and I have absolutely no regrets!! AH, my son is so happy and so am I. We have a much better life overall. Better quality of living, better community, more family and most of all a better Islamic upbringing for my child, AH ❤️

I was proud to be Canadian for the longest time, but ever since 2020 and the way all the provincial governments fell in line with the Trudeau government, and locked down the entire country. I’ve just been dying to move to the states. This country is broken, and subpar healthcare doesn’t make up for everything else being absolute horse shit.

Toronto was the best City in North America pre-pandemic - It was absolutely incredible and it’s been shattered into pieces filled with drugs, crime and so much more. As a 16 year resident of Toronto it will never, ever, be the same. It’s now San Fran of the north. Sad.

I visited Quebec City and Montreal in 2009 for 2 weeks. It was absolutely lovely. I visited the same cities last September, my romantic notion dissipated. Especially Montreal, so many homeless looking young people on skateboards. I don’t think it’s trendy to wear baggy all black that reeked of BO. Price tag for everything is high, higher than my Los Angeles suburb to be honest. Most ppl are just making ok income, not high earning top tier professionals. How do ppl keep a roof and food on table? Plus transportation and insurance.
