I'm feeling the same. This country is running by bad managers who cannot be fired no matter how horrible their performance is. My friend from China visited me in Toronto about two months ago and he said he had zero interest in immigrating to Canada now because the streets look so trashy which I can totally relate. I came back from Japan last year and it was a bit culture shock to see how dirty the streets are in Toronto compared to Tokyo (not even the cleanest in Japan). I have to constantly remind myself I'm lucky to have a comfortable bed and a not too bad salary but my monthly savings after all the expenses are actually decreasing from year to year even I get a pay raise every year (I track all my spendings and income every month). Now it's time to consider other options before it's too late.

We are heading toward being a failed state. When the money runs out, most of the guest workers will leave and it will be even worse, for a while. I'm not long behind you.

There aren't any opportunities in Germany. A bunch of locals think they are the smartest. My best friend has 10 years of PM experience in manufacturing (Canada, China, Japan). The first thing they do is complain that his German is not good. Dude has C1. Then just hire a local guy to run the factory. Actually they do. Can see the result. One think Germany could start and do is to fix the university application for international students. in theory they are super attractive with almost no tuition (ok 99% of courses are in German). But it runs on a German cycle months later than most other countries.... You can't start applying before May 15th for the next school year. that is 7 months later than the UK, Netherlands, Belgium etc, Meaning that by the time applications start in Germany, if you applied in those others countries you most likely got an offer already. In fact, my son applied also in Germany and only today got his high school diploma certified. took Uni-assist the government portal 5 weeks to do that. now he can submit that to the uni where he applied and who knows when they will make a decision. meanwhile he has other offers in equally good schools.

When you save money for retirement, the govt takes your pension. When you try to save money from each paycheque, the inflationary prices of groceries/gas/utilities takes it away. If you need to go to a hospital or doctor visit, you have to wait months or can only settle for the most basic of services. If you try to own real estate, there's always some scheme to steal your money either by jackal tenants or the new capital gains tax. The whole persona of the Western world being the land of milk and honey is gone and has become a dark money-sucking debacle that only feeds the corrupt running the Federal reserves or World Banks. Unless you're a country like Ukraine or Israel, you get nothing.

I guess I’ll be having to move to the US if I want any chance of getting housing or work. People who haven’t physically seen the stuff that’s happening here only know the bare minimum. Everything is too expensive, there’s no “Canadian culture” anymore, you can’t get a job, you can’t find a decently priced apartment, rooms for rent (private) are going for 1200$ a month in Toronto (and I’ve seen more expensive). I’m not excited to grow old in the country where I was born as it’s being run straight to the ground. It’s very sad.

I’m immigrant from Iraq. Came in 2009 and I can say Canada has immigration problem. There’s no way you are getting these students back to India. When I came to Canada I came because I wanted to make it my second home. A country that I’m willing to actually fight for. These guys are here just to make money and send it back to India. They don’t like Canada they don’t like Canadians they don’t care about the country and the land. They are here to milk Canada and it’s effecting Canadians. When a store whole operation is run by Indians do you think a Canadian will get hired?
