Tyler, remember that the mass media plays a big role in this as anytime there is a school shooting in the US it gets reported in Canada. The news focuses on anomalies and these are still anomalies. I remember the first time I went to NYC in 1988 when it was still much more dangerous than it is today. When I got off the train I told my girlfriend not to take her camera out - but as soon as we rounded the corner from Grand Central it was wall to wall tourists and everyone had their camera out. I ended up having a great time and rode the subway all over the place, no problem whatsoever. I have travelled across the US several times and been to every single US state. There is huge variety and the US is my fav country in the WORLD for a road trip - so convenient, easy, interesting, beautiful and with friendly people everywhere. I have a message, having travelled to 105 countries on 6 continents and living 15 years of my life abroad in various countries - almost EVERYWHERE is safe in the world and full of mostly great people. TV isn't reality folks! If you are an idiot, you could get into trouble anywhere.

i moved to san francisco from british columbia in 1974-75. i lived in the marina district right by the water. i left my vette unlocked with the windows down, cassettes, ash tray full of change. no problem. broke my heart when i had to move back to canada. you couldn't pay me to live anywhere down there now. you are a great guy and would love to have you come here.

I heard that American kids have practices at school for a live shooter ... nowhere else in the world has that. Just the idea that my kids would need to go through a metal detector at a school gives me shivers ...... I've also heard that your political views come up in job interviews ... that would be a great big no-no in Canada (considered private information).

We never encountered any problems except for racism. I remember we went to Wendy's for lunch we never had one in Canada back then. The manager walked up to the young kid cleaning the window and said nigger do better. We were all horrified and my dad looked at us three girls and said keep your mouth shut don't say anything. Despite that experience the States has so much to offer even today. Now as an adult my concern would be Healthcare and violence. I cannot comprehend people bearing arms at a McDonald's or Walmart or Target. I would still move to the US but be very picky about where. I’ve lived in both countries in small towns and big cities Hell No Thanks and I would have great insurance. I remember in preschool having to do active shooter drills in the US nope. If you look at stats on gun violence and mass shootings it’s crazy. The US leads by an astronomical amount. Tyler says the US has more access to guns and although I have no idea where to get a gun I think people could get one pretty easily but we don’t need them. I can walk in the dark and not fear for my safety and Canada has only had 3 mass shootings in its whole history. Of course medical, dental, education, women’s rights, maternity and paternity leave, unemployment, help when Covid lockdown happened, clean free water in homes, housing, … on and on. America the “free” is antiquated and no longer true. Education has slid to 30 something in world rankings and Canada is in the top 3. Cost of education, daycare, child benefits ect. I could write paragraphs. Also it’s hilarious when you hear American say oh we’ll just moved to Canada like they can just drive here and settle down?!?there’s a border and you can’t illegally just move here and get a job. If you’ve lived in both countries you’d know the difference. I don’t even want to vacation there anymore since about 10 years or so ago.

Well, as a Canadian, I guess i'll pitch in.\nWould I move to the US? The short answer is no. But I will explain more in detail.\n\nFirst, I do not see any advantages to the US compared to Canada. Americams often tout their country as the beacon of freedom and the land of opportunities, but I don't feel that Canada is so different there. We're actually higher on the world freedom index, and its not like our economy was in shambles and everyone dirt poor... We pay more taxes, fine, but we also get more services in return, and that last part has the advantage to remove a big layer of worry. Like, for healthcare, I don't have to worry if i'm covered by insurance or not, or if the insurance carrier will drop me on some technicality. I'm a citizen. All the basic needs are covered; no questions asked (and the healthcare quality is not half bad. We just prioritize urgent cases over non-urgent; so if you go to the hospital for something non-urgent, you will wait, and more urgent cases will pass before you. Annoying when it happens, but I understand and agree with that in the end)\n\nSecond, I do see a lot of disadvantages. All the points raised in the video are valid, from the private-sector healthcare system, the gun control laws (or lack thereof), the social policies and legislation in some states; they don't agree with me.\n\nI think it comes down to some specific social and cultural ideas that are prevalent or at least present in a substantial manner in the american society. Bear in mind that I am generalizing here, not every american believes these points, but many do. I'm talking about ego, nationalism/patriotism, secularism etc.\nI feel that the US often has a really overinflated vision of itself. Like, the idea that America is the best. At everything. Wich is factually not true, but this idea also poisons the debate on many issues, and tends to limit social introspection that could lead to real advances.\n\nI've also noticed that the american basic school system is strongly patriotic. Everyone in the US is taught a lot about the US themselves in school, but not much about the rest of the world. Not great for open mindedness and introspection when you have little comparison points.\n\nAndlets not delve into the religious aspect. I've seen a poll somewhere where 48% of americans were AGAINST the separation of church and state. For me thats not only insane, its dangerous. It fits the individualistic mentality where people can more easily start thinking that their way is THE way. It creates a very polarized society much more prone to high volatility.\n\nSo, yeah, no, I wouldn't live in the US. I'd much rather stay in Canada where i don't have to worry if I get sick or hurt, if some agressive drunk idiot in a bar is armed, or if some fundamentalists from some religious congregation is gonna be able to try to politically force their point of view.

America is a beautiful country to look at, and I'm sure there are lots of beautiful people, but the arrogance of some of them is mind blowing. I recently watched the news footage of 911, I cried all the way through that, first out of compassion and next out of frustration. When people were jumping out of those towers, George Dubya was making a statement that terrorism would not stand in America. What did he think was standing in his face. The terrorists won that day. Then when they got Bin Laden He stands up and says we got him . Big deal you got one person , when there are dozens to take his place. No mention of other countries that helped them. , they have taken full credit for every war that ever happened. They wonder why the rest of the world hates that country. The sad thing is that 911 didn't teach them a thing. They brag about how they lost 3000 people and other countries only lost a few to terrorism. How sad that they think that way. You had a great president in Obama, but you have that 2 term rule and have been going downhill ever since. And our Canada's Prime minister is certainly nothing to be proud of. Politically he's no threat to anybody, but his own country. Mostly he is an immoral threat to his own country. But that's another vent for another day. I still pray every day for the world and that includes America, but I can't imagine what it will take to break them of that arrogance.

When I think of the US the first word that comes to mind is THANKFUL. Thankful that all my ancestor’s immigrated to Canada. Especially the United Empire Loyalist’s that came and settled in Ontario. Also the ancestor's that fought for our freedoms, We will remember them. We up her in the great white north will always think of our cousin’s to the south and wish them all the best in the future.

person living in Canada; I would consider least for a while, my reasons are most people I've met from US on the internet have been mostly pleasant(Minnesota, California, Florida, or Pennsylvania all seem great:) )...I agree with a little bit more flexible gun laws(if there was a happy in between I'd go with that:P)........ don't think the political scene would completely bother me(centrist at heart; mostly accepted by Conservatives and get along with Democrats/etc); I'm ok with the contrast....

Canadian here. What I would like to visit the US for is the land. Yes we have incredible landscapes here, but since the land doesn't miraculous change at the border, the US has some great sights. I think you got the point about us being worried about guns. That's a topic you have briefly discussed in some of your videos but I think you could benefit from diving into that topic more. Canada is not immune to gun violence, however when something like a school shooting happens, it makes national news. In the US, that's just called nightly news.

I don't think I would move to the U.S. for many reasons. Healthcare is great in Canada. I don't think I'd be able to afford insurance in the U.S. , I also would be afraid of guns, the coastlines will rise by the 2030s, so my dreams of California and New York are out as well, never mind the outrageous cost of living there and being an arts person, I wouldn't want to be there now with the strike. I don't think I'd be affected as a stand-up comedian, but the opportunities would be way less with the industry shut down.

No question there are many things thatAmericans can enjoy that are not available for Canadians. For one, the variety of consumer goods is more plentiful due to the size of your population. Our population is one tenth of the U.S. so the consumer market is much smaller. Having lived in the US for a dozen years, I missed so many things about Canada. Now living back here I appreciate our universal health care and the fact that everyone isn’t walking around with a weapon. Those were the two things that really bothered me about the US. I had a great job and worked with great people and we continue to be friends. And now the political climate in the US is teetering on absolute chaos. ????

As a French Canadian im aware of some discrimination about the funding of our community, School dont really get the money for new infrastructure. some of our building becoming more old and not really great to use i still like my place thought and i will never consider to move to the USA. We'd thought about it. On balance, I think we're settled in Canada and late in life so that re-starting would not be practical but ... we'd thought and talked about it. The potential freedoms we feel like we're losing, here, now. (It's always complex ;-) )\n\nCanada's health care system/financing/administration is having problems too. We aren't subject, the same way, to individual medical bankruptcy but the system is VERY broken.\n\nWe've had shootings on the streets lately ... innocent bystanders being hit. \n\nCanada's a great (and imperfect) place. \n\nIt's not better or worse (IMO). It's different.

My mom and brother are in Canada. I'm trying to move her to Texas with me. I make great money in Real Estate and IT. She doesn't want to leave Toronto, even though she can't afford it. I travel back and forth to drop money for her. All though she doesn't ask me, I know it helps. We're all from Jamaica and unfortunately I was separated from her for 30 years. I'm glad, I'm in a position to take care of her. If I can only convince her to leave Canada for good. My little brother wants to come to America with me.

Forget parents, even many immigrants are unhappy in Canada. Every time I run into an Indian who has studied or lived in US he is frustrated. 2 people in my team received their Canadian citizenship and have started trying for positions in US. 3 white Canadians in our company moved to US in last 2 year itself.\nCanada is not a great country from parents. It's cold, white and depressing throughout. Many parents can stay for relatively longer in California or Texas where there is vibrant community and weather is very much like India. I lived for 10 years of life in snow before moving to Canada - Massachusetts, North Carolina and Virginia. I just 2 winters, I feel depressed in Canada as it's white for 4 to 5 months.

We left Canada at the end of 2021 and for some of same reasons he mentions .we are retired so not quiet the same I would point out something in defence of the province we called home for 40 yrs that I think deserves a mention . Yes winters are long and cold as anyone living in Vancouver are always happy to talk about .but it has always been a great place for young ppl to get ahead financially or it was until Trudeau got in . Canada is a great place to visit, not to live. Living standard is incredibly low.

Canada has developed a culture of rich-hating which drives polices that harms investments so even Canadians invest and do business in the US instead of at home. RE is a great example, there is so much red tape for developers and landlords I know many that just build homes in the US instead. Not to mention the government charges a flat tax of 50% on rental income. This has lead to shortfall of homes. Ontario population has grown about 800k since 2020 but the province only built 200k homes.

People from Canada often travel to Australia and then want to move there permanently. The grass always looks better on the other side. However Australia has its problems too. Friends against friends, family members squawbling, it's quite insane. WEF experiments have had a major focus on Canada, and it has degraded our society immensely. All of these points are subjective. I think the point system you used and the subjects you talked about are biased. I would have given the USA a point for innovation and job opportunity. There is more opportunities, because more companies choose the USA. We have a higher population so even thought there is more job opportunities in the USA, it is also very competitive. Your video gave a point to Canada for vacation and maternity leave rather than innovation and job opportunities. A lawyer in the USA has a better chance of practicing law than a Canadian lawyer. You gave a point to Canada for healthcare because of life expectancy. However I’d still give a point to the USA for healthcare. The life expectancy is a separate subject. The life expectancy is lower in the USA because of what we eat here. I would give a point to Canada for healthier food. Wow! That was wild. Here in San Ysidro everything was calm and actually civil. People waited their turn. I live nearby so I saw it with my own eyes. People at las Americas outlet would pass by food to them and the officers gave them the food. I was an immigrant 35 years ago I am now a us citizens and although I love the USA, I will always remember the struggles I had to go through. The hunger, the injustice, the reject and the cultural assimilation, learning a new language, and work work work until I couldn’t no more. All those efforts paid off and I believe EVERYONE has a right to have a better life. I have family members in Canada and Europe who are also immigrants and also go through these struggles. If they don’t make it to the USA, I hope the Mexican government takes advantage of this immigration influx, after all, the USA is great because of us. Bull$hit. I know a number of my African friends who live in Edmonton and they are all employed of great jobs, and have good lives there- and no matter where you are discrimination is everwhere.
