I am from Pakistan. Studied and lived in USA for over 10 years. Don't know where my time has gone so fast. Life is very busy in usa (I lived in Chicago, Denver, Orange County, CA and LA. People have to work two jobs to ends meet. Most people have to share housing...that really sucks. Constant expense (rent or mortgage payments are so high people have to constantly work. Whatever time people get they run chores and stay home and chill. You see ultra rich or people on welfare having fun at the beach. I have had a very close friend from pakistan came to usa same time as I did. we both never had enough time to meet up on regular basis. even when we met we had so many things in back of our minds running. I had couple of girlfriends (of course at different times) but they had other boyfriends at the same time. And number one thing they had on their mind is was get money from you. What you wear and drive is what you are. People consider you obsolete if you wear non branded shoes or older models of branded shoes. I traveled extensively in the US and Canada. But in East Europe like Romania and Poland I found people very friendly. Now I am back in pakistan facing basic problems like traffic jams, noisy honking streets and so on but for some reason i feel worriless and relax. whenever i go out, people start to talk to you and you feel like home. everyone is super friendly and is available for help. however you cant really trust people with money though. hahahha. After living in USA for so long I do really miss many things about it though. the efficient system is definitely a big plus. and i have realized that some times i like being all alone for extensive period of times. but knowing that i can meet up anyone any time gives me peace of mind. i have realized hard way that man made martials can amuse you to some extent only. you need live beings are you.

Totally agreed. I came back from Canada in 2019 because I was getting all kinds of panic attacks due to loneliness and I also have gained so much that I got into depression. It’s been 3 years now and I am still in India and now I have made my mind like the moment I start getting panic attacks I will either come to India or go to Australia and stay with my sister . Sadly I don’t believe in Canadian marriages as these are short lived marriages. So loneliness hits me even more but the better part is I am single so I have some options to escape from lonely life.

Eh we were all in the same boat as these people or our ancesters were. some of us were taken by the British and forced to come here. So stop whining and be polite to our guests. the government should be building towns on our North shore so we can start selling our resources and Canada could b e a very wealthy country. I would dispute the cost of living argument putting Quebec at #1. I'm from there, and in Quebec, you have extremely high tax rates, almost no social services (since the health care system started imploding in the 90s and has the only such system in Canada that is almost completely non-transportable across provinces as Quebec refuses to pay anyone else or delays payment for so long, other provinces give up). Daycare workers don't even make minimum wage, the education system is heavily politicized and extremely poor (far too many teachers who couldn't care less about their students and do little work), rents are quite high in most cities, especially when you couple them with the high tax rates and the infrastructure is among the worst in North America. There are good points about Quebec, but I put it about on par with Montana or Alabama for what it offers the population, compared to costs. And then there's the wonderfully racist and nationalist government that feels it's a crime to wear a scarf.

I love Quebec also but like any province it has its flaws, we are governed by 2 gouvernements who hate each other so both fight about everything,we pay taxes to both these governments, the only way you can attend or send your children to English school is if you were born here(canada) and someone in your family went to english school, so if you are french or an immigrant you have no choice in the matter you are going to french school, we were voted the most corrupt province a few years back, you can do anything you want though….as long as you paid for your permit to do it, wanna ride the trails on your atv 300$, wanna ride a motorcycle anywhere between 600$(for a cruiser) to 1700$(sportbike), growing cannabis is illegal unless you buy a 600$ permit then its ok. But even with all its flaws its still an amazing place AND we have maple syrup ? oh but if you make some don’t forget permission from the Federation to sell it cause they can impose massive fines all the way up to seizing you farm. But really its not all that bad…. Crap gotta go it’s curfew time don’t wanna get a 1600$ fine for being out past 8. \n\np.s our Poutine isn’t the one starting a war

As someone who spend some time in Vancouver, really considered to get more years visa I will compare with my home country Czech Republic and European-Union at all. I only find benefits in Canada:\n - big Czech comunities in Vancouver and Rockies and Toronto, its very heartwarming spending time with these people, getting contacts etc.\n- incredible nature\n- stay far from Russia (these days)\n\nBut It is not so big deal in case of money (pay/living ration), payed holiday (we have 5 weeks as standard), healthcare (I know people who FLY FROM CANADA TO EU for dentist) and distances. LIke evening trip after work is almost impossible. Going abroad is soooo far compare to Europe etc. I love Canada, at least for roadtrips, but I am not sure if starting from scratch, getting canadian experience really trade off

A lot of people use Canada as a safe port, like what happened in Lebanon, when they went to war with Isreal everyone started waving their Canadian passports, they also use our healthcare, need surgery, come to Canada for 6 months then get unlimited treatment. \nBut as soon as you say anything negative against immigration, the left brands you a white supremacist and the media follows suit.

Let me tell you something from my own experience, and at 82 y.o. a have plenty of it. If someone chooses a country into which to emigrate, he or she makes a choice to accept the conditions and adjusts to them. Canada is not a place to baby disgruntled outsiders, but gives them a chance to become Canadian. If you expect anything different, you don't deserve that chance. \nI was born in Vienna, Austria, emigrated with my girl friend to New Zealand, got married there and created two new little Kiwis, and after 5 years we packed up our family and relocated to California, where we brought up our son and daughter as Americans. We'll never forget our Austrian heritage, and are forever thankful to the friendly Kiwis for the start in life they gave us. But, once we decided to move to the US, we accepted the life style of our new neighbors and tried to fit into their society as well as we could. When we reached retirement age, we bought a modest home in Oregon, where we still live now and proudly fly the US flag on appropriate occasions. For the privilege of choosing your country, you better show your gratitude and your worth.

Canada is very immigrant friendly in terms of accepting immigrant to come yes but why ? well because immigration is a big business for this country who has not much technology export and in the same time is second biggest country in the world with population less then California alone . Always been friends? Thats funny because pretty sure that iff WW2 had not happened, Canada would have invaded the US as payback for the 1812 war. Because without WW2, the US never gets a war economy, all they have are riffle foot soldiers. Meanwhile Canada was already in a war economy due to its massive involvement in WW1 and viewed the US as a rival with a dangerously high population. Also in WW1 Canadian were feared for its crualty and its no mercy policies of make no prisoners, kill the surrendering, kill the wounded and their families. And right after WW1 Canada was in the perfect position fix the population problem by committing mass genocide against the US. It was really in WW2 where britain forced us to work side by side with the americans that a real friendship started between the US and Canada.

It’s funny how young Americans currently wouldn’t allow anything bad to be said about Canada. Young Americans believe Canada is what America should be and that it is a perfect country. I always thought it funny how Canada built all their major cities along the Border, they literally piggyback off America. In Canada from last 15 years and living a decent life as a single. I have no plans to start family or to own real estate. Canada is much better than the overpopulated places I have been to before. Canada in my opinion is hybrid between developed and developing countries. It has dysfunctional health system, Government doesn't do things that would directly benefit citizens, money laundering from other countries has made real estate unaffordable for ordinary citizens, no incentive to develop new cities so 2/3 rd of the population lives in 7-8 major cities, higher inflation rates, harsh Winter.

Many leave their own country, and come to Canada BECAUSE of their dislikes; extremism, culture, religion, laws, identity and in some cases backwards thinking; attempt to turn what we in society would consider as sexist, and discriminatory in some examples….\n\n…however when those same individuals finally achieve citizenship, or in some cases this starts (attempt to change Canadian law(s)) before obtaining citizenship, making moves to force the above, everything they despised, hated or disliked about their own country, into this new country ? Its like, the expectation is that we assimilate to them, not that they assimilate to their new chosen country??\n\nIt appears in some cases, going as far as attempting to rationalize why the the very thing they left their own country for, should now be a part of or have a place in Canadian society….where in any place in the World does this happen? Would it happen? The biggest issue for me as a person of colour is the systemic racism in the workplace, society, healthcare, housing. I’m still seen as a 2nd class citizen and denied the ripe opportunities only reserved for white Canadians. Even though I’m now a Canadian citizen myself and highly educated, there is still that double standard. You will love Canada if you’re white, but if you’re not, be prepared for daily micro-aggressions, demoralizations, constant rejection and harassment. As an example, I walked in with a white man to get my COVID shot. I faced so much resistant and questioning while he in the exact same position as me, got through fine. Don’t get me started at when I’ve been accused of stealing in a grocery store by a Karen. The colour of your skin is still very much a differentiator even in the metropolitan cities like Toronto/Vancouver.

The problems exist , but Canada provides tonnes of opportunities for immigrants who come here empty pockets. \nI started as pizza delivery driver and in few years got acknowledged as Engineer. Now I make top 10 % salary. \nThings ate getting expensive but it is everywhere in world. \nI love Canada as my second home. I think most people move back because they miss their first home.

I'm Canadian and think the biggest issue is a lack of infrastructure. Even in a lot of major cities, things you'd expect to see like subway stations, corner markets, or arcades are uncommon. It's hard to find a job when there aren't many places to work, and it's hard to afford things when it's difficult or expensive to ship those things from place to place. Immigration could boost our population so we can better tackle these issues, but our system forces immigrants to start from scratch. That doesn't provide immigrants with much reason to choose Canada instead of the Netherlands, the USA, Singapore, or some other country.

Everything about Quebec is true but the hard core French people and the Provincial Government make it the worst Canadian Province because of their attitude to the rest of Canada! I once took a trip there and asked someone for directions; because I didn't speak French they started yelling and swearing at me in French and walked off. Everything there is in French yet the rest of the country is bilingual, why do they not need to be bilingual as well?

This is an amazing thoughtful video. Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs explains so much of what people go through despite knowing all that could go wrong. I have a cousin who was in a small government job in Pakistan and got Canadian immigration. He kept delaying his move and eventually never moved to Canada because he realized how hard it will be to start all over again. Now he is so thank full that he never made the move. His case proves the proverb that one in hand is better than ten in the bush.

In some cases, I was victim of racism here in Canada and this is what I just did: I speak in French instead to the aggressor; I have done that many times and usually it works; if it is like this indirect form of racism (much more frequent) where a “local” or even sometimes some Immigrants try to look down in me, I just called a friend of mine (who is usually free) and start to chat loudly in french with him!! And believe it or not, my French accent is 99% close to perfection although I do not look like a white French guy… but see… this is exactly why it is very amusing as you can barely imagine how most people act by seeing me talking in French!! Just say something like “… je reste pour une année en plus ici au Canada (make sure you say Canada to attract their attention) Et après je bouge sur Paris….”

I am ex-PR of Canada, who left Toronto after 5 years and half. When it comes to job experience, I had Canadian, academic experience from top tier place and still after sending CV in 200 places and C1 level English I got 5 responses as I bad in networking. My experience was good enough for Cambridge UK and Zurich, Switzerland. As for climate summer heat was worst. Also cultural differences, yes... I miss Toronto sometimes but now realised I should stay in Switzerland, which is not my home country. What can I say, challenges like cultural differences or new places may not see so hard from hard country but then reality check starts.

Let's cut to the chase. Canada is a third-world country next to USA. Skill A says Doctors, Dentists and Architects. When you have these skills and come to Canada, you have to start over again. So Skill A is just a show to pretend that Canada is developed nation that welcomes professionals. All other categories need developing country skills (butchers, truck drivers, carpenters, etc.).

As if you would rate the province of Quebec as #1! And yes, one had better learn French living there and forget about using English. This is the province where the October Crisis of 1970 took place. This is the province where English signs are on their way out. The Rock Machine biker gang started here, second only to the Hells Angels. This province bucks what others do, in many ways. For instance, if you marry in this province and you are a woman, the marriage license, unlike other provinces, doesn't allow you to change your birthname to that of your husband. Personally, I think that's a good rule, but I think it would tick off a lot of people. And this province makes no concession to being bilingual. They prefer French only. They're often wanting to separate from the rest of Canada. They will not allow certain types of workers from out of province to work in Quebec. Is it beautiful? Yes, very, but there is much beauty in all of Canada.

Coming from Russia, are you really complaining about life in Canada? Most of your points apply to large number of developed countries, no place is perfect, but Canada will give you a fair shot. Do you expect do move in a foreign country and start from the top, what world do you live in? Do your proper research and stop trolling.

What's the use to come to Canada to start from scratch. If you can't do anything in your country you will have even lesser chances to do smh abroad. Everywhere you go, you bring yourself there. So, in other words, the immigration doesn't solve problems if you have any.

The reason people leave Canada within first 20 years is they do not have sizable retirement fund to enjoy comfortable retirement life after retirement. The reason half of that leave within 1 year is they cannot afford to live decently here until they find a job in their field or it takes many years before they start making a professional career and seeing the plight of immigrants of their community struggling in menial low paying jobs living in dorm rooms. These two ladies seems from east european backgrounds, these people have comparatively better prospects in Canada than immigrants from Asia or Africa. The reason skin colors make lot of difference. The reality is Canadian government is trying to do everything it can to create opportunities for all immigrants but unable due to racist white people. Just giving a job to immigrant is not enough, they must be able to sustain those jobs for reasonable periods of time. This is where Canada ls lagging. This is clear proof, Racism is very high in Canada. Just the valid proof is these two ladies open an channel and got 180K views within 3 months, they probably make lot of money on this channel. This is Canada. If they really have much productive jobs they will not do this.

My biggest problem with Canada is to get my Citizenship ceremony! It will be 2 full years since they started my aplication. Some are lucky and have good experiance and some like me are experiancing citizenship nightmare!

Sorry to say Canada is a place for youth who can start from scratch n best for refugees, instead getting professionals with experience to start over from scratch. I have seen highly professionals working to very low wage labor jobs. Canadian immigration need to rewrite their immigration structure. Thank God I made my decision on time n came back to my home country n now earning good in my profession or it would have been a disaster if I had not made that decision 2007

you know, i live about and hour and a half below the border, in arlington wa, and we get alot of canadians coming down. ive never been up to canada really but it seems that buisness isnt as busy. not as many coffee shops or fast food to work at. in america, everyday starts, and it picks up speed, and ROARS. canada, a little bit slower. in america you can get a bunch of people together and go wild and yell and laugh and do stupid stuff and evyone is like hey, those guys got it figured out.
