If Canada can offer citizenship to terrorists and other criminals then why not to these refugees

My Serbian family came to Canada as refugees in the Balkan civil war of the 1990's. Canada gave us a new life and new opportunities that we were grateful for. Now my younger brother and myself, both highly educated and with graduate level degrees, are barely making ends meet. We are both in our late 30's, and are still renting over-priced apartments with little prospect of owning our own homes . At times, over the last few years, the idea of moving back to the Balkans has crossed both of our minds.

I've come across numerous comments urging people to leave and not return. As a Muslim, I find the notion of immigrating to Western countries surprising. Our beliefs often clash with theirs, making integration a challenge that often requires compromising our principles. While I understand that migration is often driven by conflict and instability, it's important to remember that these countries are meant to be temporary refugees, not permanent homes. Let's strive to be exemplary citizens during our time here, and when conditions allow, graciously bid farewell and express gratitude for the hospitality we've received.

No Arab country will take even ten thousand Palestinian refugees.

Yes ! How come nobody is talking about having Israeli/jewish refugees who aren’t even from this land from 1000’s of years ago

Taking Palestinian refugees has been tried before. It doesn’t work. Wherever they go they want to destroy and disrupt the indigenous people. It was tried in Jordan and Egypt and caused problems for the Jordanians and the Egyptians.

It’s the fault of the government. They just want to make people who come in as cash cows and without thinking just keep on accepting refugees house them and feed them???? What kind of government is this…no planning at all??

When we have a freebie govt who lavishly donates tax payers money this is bound to happen. They squeezed the working class to feed the refugees and war torn nations.

Canadian citizenship has been rendered worthless, there's more rights and previllages and flexibility enjoyed by refugees, temporary workers and PRs than Canadian citizens. In fact even during height of pandemic Canada dint bother to bring back stranded Canadian citizens, instead they discarded them shamelessly and actually robbed them of 1000s of dollars to forcefully put them in 5 star hotel jails when citizens jumped through hoops to come back to their own country. Really shamelessly disadvantageous.

Canada is an underdeveloped country compared to the USA and many European countries such as Germany are highly developed. Hosting over 1 million refugees in 2022, Germany is the fifth largest host country worldwide (UNHCR, 2021). Over half of these 1 million refugees in Germany, particularly 560,000 of them, are Syrians (UNHCR, 2021).

9000000 Ukrainian refugees to Europe are ok. 1 from gaza - no no no, thanks. Israel is the only one who cares about those civilians. The ONLY ONE of alllll of you.

Canada is receiving way too many economic refugees, immigrants and international students.

Any other country in the world would limit the number of international students coming into their own countries. Why shouldn't Canada limit our own borders and allow Canadians to afford and have housing at home? We are already accepting +1 million immigrants and refugees. We Canadians hope that common sense would prevail.

This is crazy. Masses of people who we don't know who they are move as please around the world with no documents. Europe is flooded, Canada and the US. This is crazy those people are a threat to public safety. Imagine there is turmoil in their counties and they try to act from inside.. They are not refugees, they have no right to be in our country. Better quality of life? This is not our problem! This has to stop. We are now sleeping on a bomb.

Lets say you have 500k spaces for international students...each space is worth..hmmm 10k NOW this government is saying that they are capping the number of international students...these international students MIGHT GET INTO A BIDING WAR over those 500k available spaces.... The Saudi stance is a hypocritical joke. They claim to be for the justice of the Palestinian people as well as condemning genocide. Yet they host 4-5 American military bases within their country, purchase arms and weapons from the US (just like Israel), and American military advisors train their army (just like Israel). Not to mention their own genocide they have committed against people in Yemen and the mass slaughter of Ethiopian refugees by Saudi Border guards (trained by the US). Absolute Hypocrite.

The fact is even back before 2005 when Israel gave a much better off Gaza to the PLO the Arab countries didn’t want any Gazan’s claiming refugee status. Back then those countries had the balls enough to say the truth. Palestinians were Arabs the Jordanians and Egyptians chases out of those countries long time before and they fled to Israel who took them in as refugees and 20 years later after Israel gave them Gaza this is what they have done. The Arab countries don’t want to let them back I. Because this is what they do.

That goes for refugees everywhere. No one should have to leave their land.

Sounds correct to me there does not need to be any refugees when they have a land that they can live on .Saying take them as refugees meaning remove them from their land so we can take it over.. The plan is to stay where they are because its their right

THE reporter has a point though, coz the majority of refugees from the middle east make great effort to go to Europe and America through the sea yet Saudi with their deep endless pockets could easily help these people. The arabs do not take in Arab refugees it's very weird.?

He is really saying we want to maximize misery and death of civilians, by not taking refugees to help promote the united Palestinian War against Israel. Imagine if Poland and all neighboring countries to Ukraine told them they wouldn't take a single refugee from the War caused by Russia. Same thing. Gaza attacked Israel. Both aren't mutually exclusive. You can obviously take in refugees without agreeing to the war. Should we also reject to harbor Ukrainian refugees because we disagree with the war? We can do both.
