It's sad that so many Canadians have to move from their hometowns/provinces in droves to financially survive and get ahead a little. Unfortunately, the droves of people fleeing Ontario and BC are driving up prices now (to buy/rent) in other parts of Canada like Alberta and Atlantic Canada where this is having a trickle effect creating Albertans, Nova Scotians, etc. to be homeless and strains on their provincial healthcare systems. It's a sad state of affairs, and I do not think a politician can fix this, unless they start demanding more and curtailing the power of corporations. A big rebalance needs to occur, but it seems unlikely when politicians and business leaders are on the same side (aka corruption / conflict of their own interests). i grew up in Brampton 20 years ago, a child of Caribbean parents. Whenever I go back I can say Yes, Brampton has changed over the years. I also remember that white/Canadian people were always the population struggling with substance abuse- particularly in the downtown area. Conflating the influx of indians with the downturn of white canadians seems to just fuel animosity and scape goat the issue onto a population of people that's probably just trying to seek a better life. why not ask the government to provide better social programs for those in need rather than fueling hate ? Why not investigate the structural issues that have contributed to this situation i.e. politicians gaining votes by doing xyz, or look into what people may be facing in the homelands? It used to be easier to live here. Housing costs doubled in even the past 5 years. Everyone who has lived here for a long time who are not immigrants are facing similar barriers. Twenty years ago I left Canada and boy am I glad I did so. The country has turned into a disaster unless you're rich. The obsene house and rental prices are obviously the result of gross mismanagement. I mean, the government employs economists who should be able to advise that too many buyers and too few houses is going to lead to major trouble. A rich country with so much land should not have this problem. When it comes to gas prices, Canadians have to drive some of the longest distances in the world and are forced to pay such high gas prices. Since there is almost no public transportation, what choice to people have but drive. Regarding the grocery situation, allowing a handful of massive companies hold Canadians ransom is complete bullshit. This is where the government needs to do something to rein in this behavior. Obviously people need to eat but allowing these companies to rake in obsene profits because of this basic need is a crime. I hate the idea of a PC government, but the Liberals have definitely failed.

I don't understand the reason why they need to study in Canada well infact they have their degrees already backhome but the real goal is just to get permanent resident and sucking government benefits. Most Canadians save up through their lives for 30 years to afford a house. Why do they need to own a large house as soon as they get a paid plane trip here. I grew up in apartments buildings (not a condo but rented apartment) then a town house - now I own a house. When an apartment opening comes up and a born here Canadian does need it- then bring in someone applying and they should be fluent in English and already have a needed skill to contribute to society. Canada’s statistics are no different than Australia, USA and France for example in terms of homelessness and home ownership. I'm a Canadian born senior, and the MASSIVE flooding of Canada with immigrants (mostly from India) is DESTROYING this country. As a senior I have been priced out of the rental market due to intense competition for housing with these newcomers. It has driven up inflation where many folks can't afford groceries. Do NOT come to Canada. We need to stop all immigration for several years until our infrastructure has caught up. Then resume at reasonable levels.

I am Indian and the lady who was talking about adapting to the culture in the country you’re in, is absolutely right. \nBut then, Canada also needs immigrants and workers who can take up minimum wage jobs and most of them pay taxes. But yes, there are also antisocial elements that cause problems for everyone. Perhaps, to Canadianize the immigrants, the Govt can have cultural exposure and introduction classes. I wont make a drastic change but would definitely be a start. That being said, I am not sure how Homelessness and Drug Addiction is a related to immigration, I would consider it a mental health problem.

I get that the economy suffers from a job shortage in the truck driving sector, but this is NOT the way. We are doing this, Canada is importing immigrants for our economic benefit. Why does a country need immigrants? Because the native population is too low to run the economy. Why the Canadian population is going down? Because they choose to bring up pets and not kids. I’m an immigrant who is so sad to see the deteriorating family values and people choosing to live their lives for pleasure.

It seems to me that thirty years ago it was Canadian youth who were saying they couldn’t get a job because they didn’t have the experience. We should have a glut of carpenters and plumbers and electricians but instead these industries are experiencing a short supply of skilled workers. Perhaps, given a chance, these temporary workers will learn the trades that are only expected to be in great demand with the need to house so many new Canadians.
