I’m betting that within one week Canada and Mexico will cave. It’s time these two countries stop taking advantage of the USA. God bless President Trump !!

Well, I think Trump is right, TARRIF should be a two way system, if any country don't want to apply it is for their own good. Canada should realize how to protect itself and trade across the world. We have seen Trade Embargo how it works.

Good, now we need to stop sending every country foriegn aid. We hired President Donald Trump to do these things. This will hurt Mexico and Canada far more than it will the United States. It is very hypocritical for other country's that already have tariffs on American made products to say that it is wrong for the United States to tariff their products. The trouble with political commentators is they try to think like a politician? Trump is not a politician! So think like a businessperson, its the deal and what is the best deal for the USA. At present he is the catalyst for many things and the most worried are the politicians and a lot of their lucrative deals they have made, in most cases not to the benefit of the country! In fact, it does America a favor, so if it becomes cheaper to make it at home, guess what? That's what they'll do, create investment, employment, greater wealth etc! Issue is China. Rather than Punishing China, Trump got mad at the number shown. Infact all countries must impose 100% tariff on china. Atleast US, Canada, EU must cooperate between themselves to impose them on china. Any Product made in china must carry 100% tariff until china floats its currency.

Typical Americans and Trump. Sign a free trade agreement and then when you feel like it just violate it for your own interest. They only play by their own rules. If Canada violated the agreement they would all over it. A while back they tried to nail Canada with 4 billion in softwood lumber tariffs in that they claimed Canada violated the free trade agreement, which they did not. The arbitrary trade council which oversees both countries ordered the USA to pay back Canada the 4 billion. The USA never did. Trump claims Canada treats them unfairly yet they are the ones who violate the agreements. They are the poor trading partner. Canada should trim the exports to the USA significantly and find alternatives. Just cut out the corrupt Americans led by a convicted criminal.

Mexico and Canada imposing tariffs on the US is not going to hurt us like they think. We have more ships and planes and are able to move more goods faster to other countries who will buy. Not to mention the fact that Mexico and Canada were never fair to us in trading. In the end they will have hurt themselves way more then the US. Why do you think Trump has done this and most of us are not worried.

Trump's lifelong love for tariffs is not economically driven but to wield power. In most power plays in the private sector he got away with it and was able to stiff subcontractors and business partners with less resources and less criminal energy than himself. I hope other countries won't budge and give from the start the right answer to this wannabe fascist power drunken criminal.

Im a Canadian and only % of drugs or people go across our boarders so what Trump is saying is again not true. Americans kill Americans .... Canadians do not kill Americans. All of these countries need us far more than than we need them. They will cave very rapidly. Trump can also tax remittances which would pull 60 billion from the Mexican economy.

Not to mention his missteps while traveling in Europe and meeting with Kamala. He also increasingly chose to snuggle up to China. However, America has provided Canada with favorable trading relations and high-cost subsidies in the form of military and territorial security for decades. That clearly was a slap in the face and wasn't very smart! You had to figure some American president would ultimately say enough!\n\nAmerica has supported, defended, and offset the national defense costs of European nations for over seventy years, while EU countries and their leaders have routinely mocked and ridiculed Americans. Is it really classy to slap the face of someone who protects and supports you and your quality of life? No, it's not! Tariffs on EU products are likely coming soon, and reduced defensive support for Europe means they will have to pay more taxes for their defense and goods.

As an American, I welcome all countries being threaten by Trump and his version of America to fight back. Arguing and reasoning with the other half of America isn't working for us. But maybe, a reality check by hurting their wallets will. Do it--don't hold back. Don't bow down to this wannabe dictator. The other half of America can survive--those who voted for Trump will not.

They all need and want our lumber, minerals, oil and gas, grass fed beef, and the dependable, respectful trading partner that we are.

Why does it feel like Trump is systematically imposing sanctions on the US unknowingly.? These policies isolate his country from the rest of the world.

Think the US will Sanction the leadership Canada and Mexico in retaliation....? Sanction the countries.. threaten to remove them form SWIFT...<< that would be a bit extreme but it is trump at the helm.

As a European I am so sorry to hear this. I love America, but this is going to cause so much harm in the relationship between the countries of the west. It is only a matter of time before Trump does the same for goods coming from the EU.
