SHAME on the canadian government for putting the focus on international students!!! Done because they can blame the provincial governments and make people ignore that they changed visas to mexico, changed the refugee claimant laws, and increased exponentially the number of people entering and then waiting for a hearing on the asylum claim. As a landlord, here's the difference between international students and migrants: One has money and pays me rent monthly on time, while the other one sleeps in the park, or somewhere else, PAID by the government. The issue aren't the people entering and giving us their money, it's the new huge welfare class called migrants that is draining the system.

The arabs dont want to take in palestinians coz in the past, Palestinian refugees tried to overthrow the governments of their host countries, twice.

By this logic no countries should ever be taking in refugees.

All the Syrians and many other Muslims that immigrated into Europe didn’t want to leave their land either. But many European nations welcomed them in. But the surrounding Muslim nations will not allow Palestinian refugees into their countries, whether they want to come or not. its almost like every country thats taken in Palestinian refugees has seen them start a revolution in that nation. they supported Saddam when they were refugees in Kuwait. there's a few other examples but thats just the one that comes to mind.

The Trudeau government massively messed this up. Trudeau and his naive idealism without any downstream planning or collaborating with the Provinces and major Municipalities. Massive increase in immigration, and more significantly massive influx of refugees and temporary workers are all Federal responsibilities. The Trudeau government is using foreign students influx as a fault, because it deflects the issue of the lack of housing on students. Wagging the dog will not solve this problem.

Ukrainians should fight to the last ... while their land is not coveted, and Palestinians, where their land IS coveted by Israel ... should go as refugees in anothers land. \nFair and interesting point of view.

As an immigrant I can admit that the massive immigration doesn't help, specially from refugees, many people here live out of welfare, Canada it's about to become USA.

Fyi - international students (for the most part) work extremely hard, apply for work permits after they graduate and eventually apply to become permanent residents. This is a good thing.\nMaybe rather than clamp down on those immigrants we should worry about illegal immigration or limit our intake of refugees

let me set the record straight here. International students pay four to fivefold as much tuition as locals do, and injects billiions of dollars into the Canadian economy. They have long become a cash cow in the eyes of canadian institutions and nobody ever voices support for 'em not even once. How sick and ungrateful was that? And now they're held accountable for, idk, housing crisis? For god's sake, why the heck nobody criticise the government's refugee-taking spree? Under Trudeau's ruling, Canada has imported way more refugees than any other nation from the middle of nowhere. At least international students has made siginificant economic contribution to the country. But what have those refugees done to the country except draining your resources? I mean c'mon fellas, do your fact checking and soul searching and don't lay blames on international students blindly, they deserves credits wherever credits are due.

On top of the international students taking up the housing market, the country will taking more refugees from Ukraine this year. So where are they planning to house them?

I’d rather have students here than refugees and illegal immigrants. We hire students who are nurses in their country to work in our company. At least they are not a liability like the first 2!

What about the # of refugees? Let’s look at the big picture

This lack of homes and never ending immigration with no pause reminds me of the US southern border. They just let them churn in like machines parts on a assembly line (refugee factories instead of immigration factories but low skilled workers) and the court system is overwhelmed to see these people for their appointment to determine if they're eligible to stay. All these problems are caused by Globalists which are mostly to the left. This is their form of Capitalism to get rich off the backs of citizens and the needy.

Our country needs a work force not educated people or wealthy people who wouldn't do regular jobs. Those people are the ones who made our housing system so expensive and unaffordable. \nBring real refugees who will start everything from scratch.

Straightforward, telling facts, I don't get why some people in western countries don't get the fact that it is their homeland and they don't want to be foreign, refugees in other countries. We all know that they're pushing agenda to kick Palestinians out of their land but that's not going to happen.

Israel is perfectly willing to let the Palestinians stay and keep their land. Israel only wants the end of the HAMAS terrorists! None of the border countries wanted the refugees at the very start of this. Why? Because they can't tell who is Hamas and who isn't. The Palestinian citizens have been terrorized and coerced into doing the biddings of these monsters under pain of death and torture. Just like in Yemen, the Houthi terrorists, come in, and attempt to take over a perfectly functioning state. Worse yet, they don't even recognize that they have become nothing but puppets for Iran.

Europe should borrow this response each time there is a crisis in Africa or any other country and refugees seek residency there - they should have responded like this when Syrians and others came en masse.

If Arab countries offered to take in residents of Gaza (not Palestine - actually no such place as Palestine), the Palestinians would pour into their country. Refugees fleeing wars come to Canada not out of love, out of greed for free salaries and free benefits. They go every year to spend the summer vacation in the country from which they fled, and after they take citizenship, they go to middle east countries to work because they have Canadian citizenship, which has opened up a broader scope for work for them. They are mercenaries
