Down town Toronto didn't use to be like this. Prepandemic you could just walk around and it was much cleaner, less homeless. It wasn't perfect the hood parts of Toronto is mixed in with high rise industrial buildings, parks and regular homes.\nLook on the left it's normal look on the right it's run down.\nBut this... Is much worse.

Another issue not mentioned in the video is outdated zoning laws that make it so difficult to build new housing. The pace of construction could be so much faster if it wasn’t that difficult to obtain permits

Lynn Ngugi am so grand you touched on the taxes as a factor and how they work in other countries where people actually do pay taxes . Unfortunately our fellow citizens will fight tooth and nail because they don’t want to pay taxes . Even those who can afford to pay will fight to be exempted from paying including going to courts just to avoid paying taxes . \nLife in Diaspora may look easy and smooth running to those not living there that is because the mechanism of running the economy is well put in place .\nHowever our people please remember the residents in these countries are actually paying taxes and in turn their government uses this tax money to run the economy . \n\nSo in these countries that we are running to as refugees ?believe you me if you are legitimately employed earning a living and with a paycheck then you automatically become a tax payer as well no body is fighting that . \n\nSo our people let’s stop fighting our own regimes on every policy concerning paying taxes , otherwise we are doomed and will be on exodus status for eternity. Let’s start at home and borrow a leaf from these other Nations where the systems actually works for the sake of the people that are calling those countries home ! What are we doing wrong in our own home country ? ? that should be a very important question in our minds. \n\nRunning to other peoples countries in search of green pastures instead of building our own countries and economy we are actually by choice or design shortening our lives and future generations ? \n \nMay our good Lord and creator give us generational grace , love , wisdom and power to change this trajectory . \nThis is my wish and prayers for future generations in every corner of this our great CONTINENT ? Salaam .

Once you could build a house in the forest. Has this also changed?

I was moving back to Edmonton in October 2023 and the vacancy rate was 0.0001% the apartment I got, if i did not take it (the area is so rough) I would have had to stay with a friend and hoped and prayed that in November more people were moving so something else could/would become available. \n\nThen I talked to everyone in this building. Once the 1 year lease is up they months rent 250$ so they suck you into a an apartment where homeless are sleeping in the laundry room smoking meth for $1000 and then up the rent to 1250$ and the area is like the ones you were exploring. If anyone knows Edmonton it’s a block off 118 ave or Alberta Avenue. And I work at the Royal Alexandra Hospital (inner city) it’s heart breaking ?. It was always bad but since moving to the country in 2020 and coming back late 2023 the decline is devastating. Even a very close friend of mine went from packing her kids lunches, working casually (when they needed) as a janitor at Edmonton public school board to staying at salvation Army and it getting full to living in Tent City. She had to make her way to Calgary for shelter. ?

The great majority of immigrants came to Canada to build a better life for themselves and their families.\nThe government induced them here by outright lying to them about opportunities and possibilities.\nOnce here, they see that, no matter how hard they work, they cannot get ahead, only tread water...or fall further behind.\nAnd the government at all levels swindles them on excessive taxes.\nThe same as they do us.\nNo wonder so many want to...and do leave Canada.\nGood on them for having the courage to do so.

Welcome to Russia. We have a lot of new buildings and it's very safe.

Due to mass immigration and foreign investment especially into housing in recent years has resulted into extremely high property values by manipulation and now increased high interest rates. High corruption has taken over. It’s time for these highly skilled immigrants and (students)help to build up their countries of origin rather than to move abroad. No one is ever forced to migrate to another country nor does Canada advertise to come here so it’s best to join forces in the country of origin and create the highest possible level of living standards so people will want to live in their country.

We don’t have enough people to build what they need to build because they’re not willing to pay when it cost
2024-03-11 0
Or come up with modular building construction like China has they’re able to put up a building a day 10 stories
2024-03-11 1
Also start building factories to pump out housing as modular housing can be built in factories and put together on site
2024-03-11 0
We need to stop building luxury buildings and condos and start building cheap affordable places that anybody can afford that is lower income and slow down the migration so we can catch up with the hosing
2024-03-11 0
Now investigate government lobbying for mass immigration & blocking housing builds. Canadian politicians are literally being paid by corps. to push their political interests, and it’s completely legal

Great video.\nOne of the biggest problem is not enough Hopson housing. 1M more inhabitants and not enough building construction. That is throughoutCanada. So landlord are taking mass advantage of that.

It's very simple! They do it to keep wages as low as possible. In that way government represents interest of business class only, not working class. Stop being stupid. There's no equality. Working class was exploited, is exploited and will be exploited until they stop believe in capitalistic democracy. Start developing unions and give them fight. Build co-ops of workers to keep wages fair.

Many of us Canadians who are born and raised here have been living here for generations. Our grandparents and great parents immigrated here and helped build this country. Many of us are hard working people and have no problems with immigrants that move here to WORK, go to school get an education become a productive member of society, make a good life for themselves. The immigrants that come here expecting a hand out, expect Canadian laws and Canadians to occomidate them. To expect our laws to change to accommodate them, well that won't happen here. Many of us are hard working blue collar people especially in the Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Northern Ontario. Most of us won't put up with bullshit. This isn't being is racist or predjiced it's called show some respect.

Building houses helps nobody who is struggling, they are way too high priced for anyone normal to afford, low income housing is the ticket and they havent increased that proportionally to the need, in decades

8:18 just because they say its policy doesnt mean its law... its just a set of rules they would like you to follow ... within the company but.. if you're on public property then they cant do shit unless... you were in their own building or land then maybe you could get some kind of noise from the POLICY

It's insanity what our government is doing bringing in all these refugees and immigrants. I am a senior and cannot afford to move because rents have doubled. The government is putting refugees and immigrants into renovated units in my building that the government pays for with my taxes yet I live in a shithole cause it's all I can afford.

Trudeau sure as hell won't get in again. He made empty promises to the First Nations people and reneged on all of those promises. Now he's promising the immigrants a new life. Welcome to the country that can't even take care of their own people. When drugs are a problem and you build safe injection sites instead of rehabs to help the people . What do you think is going to happen?

Many ways we could go about fixing this crisis. Obviously heavily limiting immigration would help, banning all diploma mills that are just student visa scams. Forcing municipalities to get rid of their awful zoning and restrictive rules, could be streamlined by running a nationwide referendum to make zoning a federal jurisdiction and not provincial/municipal and then just adopt something similar to japanese zoning nationwide. Banning or heavily restricting Airbnbs is an other thing that would help. A lot of what the BC NDP with Eby is doing should be done nationwide for sure. Regarding all the homeless people, we could offer them a job to build infrastructure, houses in exchange for a bed and food, something akin to what was done in the New Deal. Could be a super efficient way to get something like high speed rail built quickly. It'd be a contract they'd sign for 5-10 years and at the end of the deal they get compensation for the work they did. Also not every homeless can live in society. When conservatives got rid of institutions like mental asylums, all the people with non fixable conditions got thrown in the streets. Those are people who just can't, regardless of how much we do to help them, live in society, but their people like us so a modernized, humane version of the mental asylums would help a ton not just for these people, but also their family members who'd know that their kid or sibling is somewhere safe.

Bus shelters are for the people riding the bus and who are paying tax to build and heat those shelters. They’re not homes for the homeless.

If we have a housing crisis and healthcare crisis, why do we keep bringing in enormous numbers of people we can neither house nor care for?\nThe answer is simple... Money.\nAre you an employer who's fed up with paying your employees a living wage?\nAre you a developer wanting to buy-up some protected land to build mansions that will be paid for with offshore money?\nOr one looking to build yet another condo tower in an already overly crowded and under-serviced big city?\nNo problem... Just buy a few politicians and bureaucrats and have at it. \nWe'll bring in the unskilled immigrants and bypass any regulations or planning common-sense and you'll be on your way.\n\nThe powerful are making unprecedented amounts of money at the expense of everybody else and every political party has been bought and is complicit in the selling-out of the working class.

Great video! The problem with immigration is the quality of immigrants, this country still needs quality immigrants to fulfill top level positions, in the recent years Canada got flooded with too many international students for various college degrees, as i’ve heard there are some colleges in Toronto which only has one classroom in a building but they have so many students enrolled ? and bringing in more refugees makes the housing and job situation even worse. On the other hand government had to remove the 20hour work cap of international students to run this economy ?
2024-03-08 0
FOREIGN STUDENTS ARE Not here to get a high quality education and then take their skills back home to contribute to and build up their own country. Being a foreign student is a facade. It's solely to get your foot in the door and show Canada that you are a good boy & working hard and ultimately get a citizenship. Then step two is to start the process to bring your parents and siblings over and step three your grandparents and as many extended family as possible. Paying and providing social programs for people that haven't been contributing into the system for a lifetime is not sustainable!

If I didn’t have family in Canada, I would go back to the USA. Vastly overpriced here. Lacking tremendous leadership, yet America is presently worse. My hope though is the recovery rate is better in the USA. Global respect and support is far better in USA. A melting pot mindset rather than major diversity….better weather also. Yikes, I better get going.\nOne thought though….Canada should not sit back and say how the world loves Canadians due to their past contributions. They should be striving today to build a dynamic society. A society that is self supporting, strong, dynamic leadership, productive.

Trudeau always says in Canada there are too many jobs but not enough workers those long lines for jobs stocking shelves at a grocery store tells a different story .\nBut Trudeau contradicts himself when he gives away billions in free money to foreign car manufacturers to build battery factories.\nOh it’s so important to create jobs in factories that Canada gave away basically spending 4 million to create one low skilled job for a undetermined amount of time .\nSo on one hand he says we have too many jobs available and then on the other says we must give a foreign company 4 million to create ONE low skilled job in a factory assembling batteries ?

1) Canada needs stronger VETTING process. 2) Canadian universities should set up base in india so indian international students don't need to come here. \nIndia, Hongkong, Dubai, Cairo are all good locations to build canandian universities.

Only the PPC will lower immigration. CPC will just build houses to accomodate them.

Serious question ?‍♂️ why can’t we have all of these people building new housing?

Biden has made the invasion 100 times worse so many people in our country are in need of cancer treatments poor minorities natural born citizens are going to suffer because our resources are being depleted because of the open border close the border immediately build that Wall

I've been living in Canada since 1985, a Canadian citizen and just recently been unemployed since mid January due to interest rates. Builders aren't in a hurry to build therefore the workforce in that industry slowed down significantly. And so I've been applying everywhere and with my experience since the age of 16, i still cant get people to hire me. I thought there's a labour shortage? Or is it because employers rather pay new migrants minimum wage than to pay me a Citizen of Canada more? Idk how any1, new migrants or not survive in this world off anything less than $20 an hr

Build anything worth having, and those who don’t will come.

Trudeau importing slaves for his rich friends but, he forgot to build their quarters first. Now he supplies them or displaced Canadians with ice fishing tents from Canadian Tire. Let's not forget joe for his contribution at the southern border.

Canada is totally overrated by the canadian government imigration propaganda. It has been trapped naive people all around the world. It could be called SCAMNADA. Extremely unafordable and the health care system is a joke.\nLife in freezing countries is too expensive due winter gears, hitting, cars, insulation in every building or house, gas, salt on streets,  shovelling, mandatory insurance for everything, health care is a joke, and so on. It is endeless. \nCanada is definitely an uninhabitable place. Basicaly the whole canadian population live very close the US border due the miserable freezing endeless drepressing 9 months cold weather. Nobody wants go north. Freezing weather makes life unbearable and extremely expensive.

we need construction and trades people, like we had in the 1950s and 60s to build the homes we need

They should build a massive Jail for the government. And that snake at the top immigration is destroying Canada. Government government have sold out Canadians. There's so much crime on the streets because of the government has caused hatred..

i live in quebec the majority here is now middle eastern and mexican where i live ...Most cannot speak english or french .Landlord(most are not canadian) here seem to like putting non canadian .i think immigrant should not have the right to vote or own buildings only renting

We need more jobs, more foreign investments, more competition in all sectors, approval of more buildings. Majority of Canada's issues can be issued if we had a half decent PM

If wants that hw should tell them to stop launching rockets, buying weapons, building terror tunnels, rqping and kidnapping Jews, etc. Then they will live peavefully in their land.
2024-03-04 0
Basic math can tell you that if you invite 500K people here a year when you build 250K houses a year will result in homelessness. And if you don’t create 500K jobs a year that there will be mass unemployment. Our politicians can’t do basic math.

The government needs to play simcity where you must build residential zones before commercial and industrial zones can prosper. No housing means no people. No people means no business.
2024-03-04 2
We need to bring in immigrants with construction skills to build more houses.
