Immigrants, both documented and undocumented, commit crimes at a lower rate than natural-born US citizens. That is a statistically proven fact, and it makes sense considering that if we speed, we could get a ticket. If they speed, they might get deported. That's a fine to pay versus a potential death sentence... most people who immigrate here are trying to escape the very things they get accused of doing. Look, I'm not saying that people coming in illegally is a good thing, that every one of them has good intentions, or that border security is acceptable as it is. I just wish we put this much attention on those at the top of the income chain committing white-collar crime instead of something like this and fix the immigration situation without policies that will flip our already jacked up economy upside down for the sake of votes.

And going after employers does that job even faster. Losing 7.5 million jobs is economic suicide, couple that with outrageous import taxes (ie tariffs) that will skyrocket costs, and we have another Great Depression. This means even if you round up illegal immigrants, they have a right to seek relief from deportation in front of an immigration judge, and this process could take several months or even years. Only after this process has been exhausted and an immigration judge gives the green light, can you go ahead and deport.
