As a Canadian that lived in the U.S. for 12 years I will say that the reason I moved back to Canada is healthcare. Yes I had healthcare through work while I was in the U.S., but every single year it got more expensive and my deductible continued to increase. By the time I decided to move back to Canada my deductible was 5 thousand dollars (If I would have put my family on my plan the deductible would be doubled to 10 thousand). So i basically never went to the doctor for preventative care because I knew I was going to pay an arm and a leg for it. The only reason I continued to pay for the healthcare at all was so that if I fell and broke my spine I wouldn't lose my entirely net worth.

I thought being a YouTuber was your full time job (3 or more channels). How do you find the time to do all that? I guess it takes some time just finding out which videos/ Reddit subject to react to. Then editing and uploading every day/ several time pr. day... And still looking fresh and relaxed?\nMaybe the government in Indiana puts out some Pervitin into the air to increase you work capacity....

There are places in the States that I love to visit (although not right now, because I've never had a passport). I used to be in a drum corp, and we did a lot of parades and field shows down there in New York State and Pennsylvania, and had a great time. But I would never move there. I probably couldn't afford health care there anyway. My niece married a lovely guy from Maine, and he was planning on moving up here, but for unexpected family reasons, they ended up staying there. But he is increasingly worried about the political climate.

As a quebecoise, canadian french, I think we're still far from all problems in the USA. But we shouldn't forget that there are 300 millions more american people than us, canadians. The more we'll grow as population, the more problems of all kinds will follow. So no, i would never move to USA, it's a fact, but I think it's a little unfair to compare both countries. Plus, Canada tends to be more and more influenced by USA and their politics... And we're no safe anywhere in the world. There are not a lot of them, yet, but still, we've got also few mass violence shootings increasing for more than 10 years now. It exists here too. Nothing happens in a small village because we don't expect it to happen most of the times. But as beautiful as Canada may look, I can tell you it will never be the same again. The only thing we can do is enjoy it while it lasts. And no, Tyler, you're nothing average! :)

Tyler, with complete respect you DON'T get why we generally have no interest in moving to the US. You constantly talk about 'you just have to find the right place to live'. True of anywhere, but here the choice would be about preferences and afordability, NOT to avoid gun violence or shunning because of political views.\nThere is no where in Canada I could move to where gun violence would be a big factor to consider (we have rough places, and gun violence, but STRICT gun laws). Let me give you some perspective. In 2019 the USA had 37,038 gun related deaths. (No other causes of death- JUST all gun death). In Canada, in 2019, our death by illegal means (which does include suicide, as it is illegal) was 5,874. (That is for ALL types of homicide, not just guns). And the government was shocked by the increase that year and tightened gun restrictions further.\nYou talk about having certain States more Red or Blue. We aren't bi- partisan, so our politics are a melting pot. You might have people you disagree with everywhere you go, but you will also always find an equal group who thinks similar (unless your an extremist). And even the people who think different will generally agree to dis- agree. There is next to nowhere in Canada where your political views would get you run out of town. \n\nYou are USED to thinking like an American. (Fair, your American; I think like a Canadian) Trust me, as a Canadian, there are aspects of the accepted American culture (your country's way of life) that is boarderline terrifying to people here.

The fact that any instance of road rage or argument can turn into someone drawing a gun is a big thing. Yes its unlikely but the fact that it is possible that any person could legally have a pistol on them significantly increases the severity of any altercation.

As a Canadian I can say that the #1 Canadian person who moves to USA is our medical staff. Nurses and doctors make much more in the states many people get educated and get some experience in Canada and then move to USA for the increased income. It's a bummer because in my small town there aren't many family doctors and many people don't have a family doctor and won't for years because of the doctor shortage at least in BC but I think it's a Canada wide issue. I am lucky to have a doctor who wants to live in a small town and help people, he is from south Africa ! ?

Tyler, thanks for your entertaining and fun videos. My grandfather is a dual citizen but has never renewed his passport or anything and when asked to do so, he outright refuses. He says he hated living there. We live in the Vancouver area of Canada right now. My wife is finishing her registered nursing degree and we are considering moving to washington state, within an hour or so of the Canadian border on temporary work visas (TN1) for a few years. The main reason is the cost of living differences, mostly in housing but a lot of things are cheaper down there too. For example though, the costs of rent or to buy a house in the Vancouver area is insane - 1.5 million is generally a starting point. The cost of a detached house south of the border between Bellingham and Blaine starts around $400,000 ($500,000 CDN). If renting, it's crazy cheaper than here. \n\nThe area we are considering going to is very close to the canadian border, I've never heard of major violence problems in the area. Like one of the other comments you read, we're basically considering moving there to take advantage of a lower cost of living and higher salaries for a bit to try to get ahead. Living in the Vancouver area is such an absolute DRAIN on our finances that it is intolerable. If we didn't move to the US, we'd have to find another place in Canada to go to, but we do like the climate on the coast here. I'd actually just keep commuting to Canada daily to work in Canada since it's so close to the border, and writing the bar exam to be able to practice law in any US state except California, Massachusets, or New York is a pain in the backside to even be able to write it, let alone prepare for it. Just easier for me to keep working here unless we decided to try to make a permanent move somewhere further from the border.\n\nIf we decided to change our minds and apply to stay in the US in the future, there are a lot of the other considerations that other people have raised on top of my own ability to continue as a lawyer. Gun violence in the US is crazy, extreme polarized political views and increasing intolerance against diversity of race, culture, religion, (and while it doesnt affect us directly, it bothers us how LGBTQ people are increasingly targeted with backwards policies and by certain segments of the public), the health care system in canada has it's problems but it's also got it's strong points. We'll never go bankrupt because of a health care issue since we can move back to Canada IF it's ever a problem. Thankfully we are all pretty healthy so it shouldn't be much of a problem for a while at least. And we wouldn't even move there at all if her employment as a nurse doesn't offer health care and better pay than she can obtain here. \n\nOur kids will probably attend post-secondary (college/university) in Canada as dual citizens unless they get a scholarship to a top US school. The costs of post-secondary in Canada appears to be much cheaper than in the US and we have some good colleges/universities that consistently rank high globally.

essentially, the only benefit is a greater income for some fields. But even if you are in one of those fields you need to weigh how important that increase in pay is versus all of the negatives. The two biggest ones would be healthcare (if you aren't making enough extra money to outweigh the extra costs, then it's pointless) and safety (which all depends on the individual and their circumstances, like if you have a family, or you would be the target of racial attacks)

Not the Dwight D Eisenhower interstate system before auto lobbies rallied against the development of a national commuter rail system, giving the rails to 4 big companies that refuse to allow passenger cars on their rails without massive fees because freight has a higher profit margin. And certainly not pension funds before they were dissolved in favor of the 401k, and the social security politicians are constantly working to cut while ever increasing the retirement age past what most people will never live to now that 45% of our water is tainted with PFOAs that will have everyone born today die of liver cancer before the age of 65.\n\nIt was CAPITALISM that made this country! The same capitalism that claws back every penny it can from working class people. America was great DESPITE capitalism. UNDERSTAND THAT.

Its more about the prices as well. If you compare today with the mortgage value and increase of rate of interest.. it is actually very hard to afford a house. 99% immigrants wont take that level of risk to leave their jobs if they married.

Lucrative real estate investment in Toronto and Vancouver created a massive holding and rental industry across the country, increasing immigration targets add strain to rental and purchase supply, the huge boom in short term rentals (airbnb, vrbo) adds fuel to the fire. \n\nNow that Vancouver and Toronto are becoming unlivable it’s residents are leaving and exploding the populations of midsize cities.\n\nIs it impossible to own a home in Canada? No, but if you aren’t a high-earner you may have to settle for a different city (see: prairies).

As a Canadian here are my views on the problems here:\n1.Government waste/spending\n2. Insane taxes, we literally pay taxes on our tax here. When you add it all up the lower tax brackets after their 15% gst pay about 45% of their income in taxes alone. Provinces like Nova Scotia are disgusting when it comes to the tax they pay. \n3. Easy immigration, we should consider immigrants based on what they can do for Canada, we don't need hundreds of thousands who can't work or refuse to work. It's a strain on the system. The immigration also artificially increases housing costs.\n4.Government corruption, it's part of why the taxes are so high. It's also part of the recent hyperinflation Canada has suffered. Just look up Trudeaus WE charity Scandall or SNC Lavalin Scandal, some even say Trudeau was getting kickbacks from the vaccine which I have yet to see evidence of but I personally believe it. \n5. Politically illiterate voters and propaganda, here in Canada the government likes to keep it's people uninformed and how they do it is through propaganda. The Liberals have every major news source in Canada in their pocket and in order for you to get news that isn't influenced by them you have to specifically search for them by name, those include Rebel News, TFI Global, and True North. Almost everything else is incredibly biased, they selectively report the news and in many cases outright lie. This causes extreme political illiteracy in it's population.\n6. Housing rules, here in Canada there are some really stupid bylaws like the main floor of your primary dwelling must be 900sqft in some areas, plus building codes prevent cheap construction of homes. You could have a tiny home on piers and it wouldn't cost much but because of our laws and codes it's impossible. You need a proper foundation, footings, building permits, ad in order to get a permit you need to submit blueprints, etc. You can't just buy a prefab building set it on piers and live in it. That'd be too easy, that'd make housing affordable and the government wouldn't like that. \n7. Woke indoctrination centers, The public education system here is all about putting in regular kids and pumping out future Liberal voters. It's a mess.\n8. You can't defend yourself, In Canada you aren't allowed to carry a weapon for self defense. If a criminal breaks into your home you are supposed to do everything you can to escape rather than defend your property. Criminals have more protection under the law than the law abiding citizens. \n9. Low wages, because of immigration wages are low compared to the USA for most jobs in most locations\n10. Thigs cost more in Canada than the USA after taking into consideration currency conversion rates, even things manufactured in Canada\n11. The cold. Nobody likes the cold for the 4-6 months of the year that the higher populated areas of the country have it. The more densely populated areas also tend to be the warmest. \n12. Fascist leaders. It's no secret Justin Trudeau and the Liberals are fascists\n13. Governmental links to the WEF, you'll own nothing and you'll be happy or so their add said. The truth is Canadians can afford less and less under Liberal leadership which is no surprise since Justin Trudeau and Chrystia are supporters of the WEF.

Prices of rent and houses is going to increase drastically in Texas now. This clown of a president is to blame. Don’t try to change my mind as reality proves he’s been the worst choice in history.

The part about the banking system is at best a half truth. Canada looked like it came through the 2008 crisis better than the States because the government did not allow a correction in the housing market. Rather, the Canadian government kept the party going with free money, which made the balance sheets of the banks look good, but over time caused housing prices to inflate far faster than household income. The result now is wildly over-inflated housing prices which - coupled with increasing immigration of well to do foreigners pricing Canadians out of the market - has come to the point that many Canadians born in Canada can no longer afford to live there. This in turn exacerbates the brain drain to the USA, which further reduces Canada’s innovativeness and international competitiveness. \n\nHowever, the universe mandates equilibrium, and this house of cards will come down sooner or later. When it does, Canada will be facing a far worse financial and economic crisis than the USA did in the late 00’s, as all of the Big 5 banks will become insolvent.

I’m a dual citizen, and I’ve noticed that the most highly skilled, highly motivated, entrepreneurial Canadians tend to emigrate to the States. Why work hard and take risks when the government is just going to confiscate more than half your income? Not to mention how the Trudeau regime has become increasingly corrupt and authoritarian.

Increase tax rates, make lifestyles expensive! Stop giving free things to refugees! Automatically they will go back

I’d add complacency as another point. I guess that falls under the rules point. Canada always seems to not strive to be anything, as long as we have enough, everyone doesn’t seem to care. Low productivity, extremely regulated business laws, high taxes for relatively poor services and extremely misaligned immigration numbers are seriously hampering progress and economic growth for the individual. The government loves to brag that the economy is growing, but per capita income hasn’t moved or is shrinking. They self sabotage every way they can, especially with funding the green transition and by slapping everyone with carbon taxes, that are only going to keep on increasing without any actual proven emissions reductions

I moved to US with my family, we increased our wealth but US inequality is really bad and only well off and well educated make do great. The issue is the government of Canada and taxes and too much elites leaching from the economy.

It doesn't work that way for patients who are not in contact with reality.\n\nNow we add extreme drugs (crack, meth, heroine, ketamine, whatever they hand out at parties, etc) and severe cases of PTSD/PTSS. It's obscene that we have veterans on the streets.\n\nHeath care--?. Pre Obamacare it wasn’t terrible but medicine had become a CYA project. We are so litigious (side eye to John Edwards ) that doctors practice defensive medicine and carry high limit malpractice insurance (guess who pays for that?). Every decision is driven by avoiding lawsuits, not proper patient care.\n\nPost Obamacare, US health care is an unmitigated disaster at every level. We’re short on doctors, too. Many quit and students are losing interest—medicine won’t pay enough anymore to justify $500K in loans.\n\nWe could repeal every bit of Obamacare tomorrow and still not be able to fix it. The leviathan grew tentacles that released toxins into every nook and cranny of the system. The cuts were targeted to preserve wealth for the middle and lower classes.\n\nI could go on for another 100 pages but you get the idea and I get crabby writing for free.\n\nI will leave you with the caution that it’s best if you doubt and question any data and any stats coming from our government. Those are seldom legit. If the data comes from a study, always look to see who paid for it. And how large the sample size was; how were the participants selected? Im 24 and been searching for a job for 1 year now. Not even 10 interviews. Im applying for EVERYTHING. Retail, production work, general labour, overnight work, housekeeping, cleaning / janitorial work, painting, customer service, call center, sales, factories..etc \nI'm applying in different cities and willing to take GO transit to work. \nI live near lots of big cities and somehow although they claim to be understaffed, they aren't hiring. \n \nI'd like to know the reason for this? There's nothing improving, homelessness is a MAJOR issue that is not being addressed but we are still taking in more people. These people are suffering and so many trying to get a job. \n \nI've contacted MANY agencies and they have had no jobs available FOR MONTHS \n \nCanada is only going to increase in homelessness. Theres been no improvement :(\n\nPeople suffering from homelessness and depression have been taking the euthanasia route because it feels like there's no hope or other option.

I’m 52 years old and have never witnessed outright racism against blacks. Yesterday I went to see a doctor. I have fibromyalgia and can barely walk but I had to cause I don’t have a car atm. The waiting room was PACKED. I asked about seeing a doctor and was told “ he’s not seeing patients today”. I asked “what about all of these people”? She said “they’re all immigrants and he is seeing them”. I’ve lived here my entire life but I guess he wasn’t seeing Canadians. I find the black people that complain and cry racism haven’t done much with their life. I have friends that are VERY SUCCESSFUL black people and they never talk like this. You just wouldn’t not hear it out of their mouths. And they live in Edmonton . Hard working, decent people they are. I’m facing homelessness come July 1. Ain’t nobody coming to save me. Rent increase of $430 dollars will do that tho. Everyone is struggling to some degree. Instead of further dividing us, we should be coming together to come up with solutions to help each other. This kind of video does nothing but harm but continue I guess……

Housing is not as affordable as it used to be in Canada. Rents and house prices are far too high. We also have massive food price inflation. Job are better in some areas than others. My beef with the job market in Canada is the wages are at 2019 levels. They need to adjust to 2023 costs of living with all the increased costs. People are friendly in Canada, as it's one of our faults.

These foreigners are so stupid. I know people who have literally sacrifice their life to get a green card, only after they get a green card, their happiness does not increase.... The problem is not your country. The problem is you.

It's almost like they don't see how the effects of employers offering wages too low to support paying rent being mixed with large investment firms buying up all the Housing stock and enacting policies of constantly evicting current tenants to increase rental prices isn't a major component in the problem.\nThe reality is, the housing crises could be easily fixed by raising minimum wage to a living wage and restricting investment firms from using residential housing as investment stocks especially as one of their tactics seems to be to intentionally not rent out large portions of their housing stock to create a shortage in supply, this driving up demand along with rental prices.\nYou can't honestly complain about the homeless crisis while ignoring the fact that corporations are intentionally keeping rentals empty to drive up rental prices. I’m Hispanic and this shit pisses me off. My family had to grind it out and sacrifice so much to come to the United States the legal and correct way. Now these people think they can stroll in and reap all the benefits. Democrats just want the extra votes by any means necessary…they will even screw over Americans. It’s truly sad. It’s land of the free…not land where everything is free. I live on the border. These illegals immigrants are messing everything up. While some do come to work and I can appreciate that…the rest are living here rent free, being fed with American tax dollars, abusing the medical system, all while not contributing anything to American society. Close the border. Americans tax dollars shouldn't have to pay for refugees when they're struggling to get by themselves. People can't afford to go to college in the U.S., it's so expensive. Cost of living goes up all the time. I have multiple degrees and can't really find a job and when I do, they always want to pay very low and def much lower than they started your counterparts at. There's a ridiculous homeless issue in the U.S. where I've met plenty that apply for jobs all the time and do not get hired. They even ask random people if they can work for them just for food, literally just for food. There are people everywhere that take things for granted including the U.S. but that's not the issue here. There are U.S. leaders that steal your money in taxes and retirement funds then misuse the funds. How is it fair for a hard working individual to have 30% of their gross removed from there paycheck then still required to pay the government when filing income taxes. You can buy a house, pay it off and never own it. The government is your forever landlord because property taxes are always due and are increased whenever authorities want them increased. Every country has serious issues.

There is increased systemic racism against black people around the world these days, especially in Europe. You have to look deeper to understand what is going on because on the surface everything sometimes seems okay.

You get what you voted for! How will these people be supported? Only one way, and that is increased taxes.

I say that we line up the women and all the single men in the country can go down to the border to find women to marry. \n Latin women are amazing and a heck of a lot better than 90% of the women that are currently in the country. \n\n Women who travel to the border are in most cases abused on the way... if we just leave them at the border like that then they will likely be abused even more. \n\n This would help them as well as the men in this country. \n If/when they have kids ... it would increase the population . \n\n\n Let in the women ... but only the women who know they are women and weren't born as males.

Not once have i lived off the government. I work my girl works. We’re having a kid. And things are getting really tight. Inflation is kicking our butts bills increased pay is the same. Were not married yet. We decided to try to seek some government help for at least food right. Shit is tough rn so if we can at least get some food we’ll be fine. Instead of criminalising refuge seekers, the gov should use them, set a wage that's lower than the standard, charge for their services at the standard, for a period of time, enough for these ppl to get their footing , use the difference to fund programmes and tackle different aspects of the problem, keep tabs on families and individuals by making ppl register, use them to fix infrastructure and do jobs that otherwise go unfilled, many of these people are skilled and hard workers, they will have a reason to stay within the boundaries of society, the country will have more money circulating, but they situation is being misused, it's an opportunity to get ahead, it's an opportunity to increase natural citizens skills and living conditions, to create other jobs and industries, and to fix the economy, strengthen economic and political ties with the countries these ppl are coming from, and also charge a tax in whatever way can be done to these countries per person they recieve.things like housing, many of these workers can build houses, and that gap between lowered wage and standard wage or tax for entering America illegally, could be used to fund better public housing, etc.
