I don't know.... I live in Montreal and I don't see recent newcomers as poor victims (I'm talking about most immigrants applying for refugee status) . \nWhy? \n1. In order to reach North America , one has to either cross the Atlantic or Pacific Ocean or cross huge chunks of land from Central or South America .... and that's really expensive. In Europe, since the coast of Africa is very close to Europe's , boats full of destitute and desperate people might be the norm. Not in North America. \n2. most of those guys arrive in North America looking for work \n3. most newcomers do possess smart phones and they know how to use them. They have their own network of friends and they're always on the lookout for good opportunities. \n4. most newcomers are very, very mobile. If they're having trouble finding work in Montreal and they need truck drivers somewhere else.... they'll go there . A new hospital needs aid personnel? They'll be there ready for hard work. \nThe positives ? They're probably working , making money and paying taxes. \nThe negative side? They're for the most part economic immigrants. It seems to me like most will have a hard time convincing immigration judges that they are actually refugees (economic refugees? if you will? ). \nMy take ? The way Federal Government deals with immigration should be changed. I believe that if immigrants already work here and are taxpayers... they should have working visas (at least temporarily). \nUndocumented criminal caught in the act of committing a crime? Stop assuming Canada can afford generous welfare, unemployment insurance, pensions and health care plans forever. Canada does not have national daycare or dental programs for all Canadians of all ages. This isn't about historically colonized who. It's about whether or not Canada is heading towards being a 3rd world country right now. Go ahead and have the federal government let in, 5 million people from Afghanistan, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Syria and Nigeria. Canada is in a serious recession, and high inflation has forced many Canadian families to turn to foodbanks. Stop assuming if you're an international student, that all your problems will be solved if you get Canadian citizenship. Stop assuming you can bring over your spouse and they can get easy work visas and your elderly parents can get easy Canadian pensions. Yes, there are no guarantees in life, but immigration consultants aren't instructing you to be realistic about immigrating to Canada even if you are a nurse, studied in STEMs or structural engineering etc. Alberta could start charging provincial taxes, Quebec could cut off their welfare. And other Canadian cities could stop collecting garbage all the time and not fix their roads because many people can't afford to pay their property taxes due to high employment. The globalists want 15 minutes cities. The federal government is assuming massive immigration will solve Canada's aging population. It won't. Health care is actually better in 2nd and 3rd countries if you have the money. Even if your home country is at war, it's still better than the drug crisis in the major cities of Canada. No joke. Now, does everyone get it? Canada can not afford to pay for any social programs, even with taxing the middle class to death. This isn't about racism or blaming any mirgants it's about corrupt dishonest politicians who will increase the number of children living in poverty. Canada is the worst place to immigrate to! We’re heading down the same road as Europe sadly

In a small town, central Ontario. Our local grocery store, all the employees were/are from town… neighbours, who’d worked there for years, decades for a few. The ownership changed hands a few months back. All the employees (a third of the number that usually works a shift) are new hire immigrants, the cashiers recently arrived. Clearly they’re being under payed and do more… this is about the top raking in as much as possible. It’s a greed game. I wonder if corporations are bringing people in to be at beckon call, provide housing… like pimping. Canadians and new immigrants are the pawns in all their schemes. \nOh… and some of the best priced items that our family used as staples are no longer on the shelves! ?

As I understand it, it all goes back to the province of Quebec. to get Quebec to join Canada, education was made a provincial thing, not a national thing. This means that there is no national education policy in Canada, unlike a lot of comparable nations. This means it is very difficult to plan, and educate the work force to fulfill anticipated needs. The solution? Put it on the list! Immigration Canada has a list of jobs that Canada needs to fill. If you would like to immigrate to Canada, and you have work history or education for something on the list, you're in! This is much easier that investing in Canadians and planning 5-10 years ahead. If we need more nurses...put it on the list! If we need more engineers...put it on the list! If we have too many already...take it off the list. A lot of immigrants are disappointed when they get here, because from the outside, Canada seems great. Yes, it is a very safe country, and has a lot going for it. But people may be surprised to find that they have been allowed into the country, to fill jobs no one else wants. And it's a lot of work to move here from another country, so immigrants tend to get stuck in a bad situation.

It sounds like these international students were lying from the start. They claimed they came for an education but when told they have to go back when they're done they cry victim. Nobody promised them any kind of future, just a paid for education if they could afford it. Can you imagine if we behaved that way if we went to study abroad??

I’m tired of seeing them in every business out there. Tim’s, almost all gas stations, banks,I understand they come for a better life but you have to have a limit on how any come in. The one thing I noticed is most don’t have a common understanding of the English language. I’ve seen customers get agitated because they have no idea what you’re talking about. I avoid Brampton at all cost. Majority of the car accidents and trailers being flipped over on highways are Indians. This has to stop.

Tyler, most Canada who can pay for extended health care if their employer offers it! Because of what's not covered... Usually it's co pay in better jobs, 50/50 or employees pay the whole cost... if it's offered. So obviously our tax paid basic health care isn't so great unless you're old or poor.

Highly skilled immigrants from India are always welcome anywhere, like in the US where they have added tlmutiple times to the economy. Canada, unfortunately, is importing from Punjab ,low skilled labour that eats into Candian quality of life. These youth from Punjab can't integrate and is a burden to the economy, as they rake up zero value adding jobs. Truck driving and RE realtor don't add any value to the economy. Thanks the NDP and Liberals for encouraging import of Punjabis, who they turn into their vote bank.
