As sad as the incident is, I don’t get the hate. The fact that this man acknowledged his fault, pleaded guilty against his lawyers advise shows that he is remorseful and didn’t want to put the families through the nightmare of court. He could have pleaded not guilty and won because there is no way they would have been able to prove the charges, especially after the govt cut down trees that were obstructing road signs, after the collision. Accounts at the time suggested that Sidhu was not qualified, but that by some process he got the job anyway. Will Global be following up on that? Up to now, Global has not asked those questions. Sidhu was convicted for actions resulting in the Humboldt Broncos tragedy. He is not a Canadian citizen and the rules are clear: his criminal conviction means he's being deported. Unlike Global News, the victims I see in this story are the families of the Humboldt Broncos team, and the team members themselves. Global News want to change criminal to innocent victim. Nothing could be further from the truth. He was given a fair trial, convicted and sentenced. Now he is being deported. If Global wish to play the 'reverse the story' game, perhaps they should refuse Canadian citizens' tax dollars as 'revenue'.

I live in Bangladesh. If I want private healthcare, I can book an appointment today and possibly see the doctor this evening for $5-$7 per session. The really really good doctors? The professor / vip level ones? $10-$15.\nIf I need to do tests, I'll get em done the same day and probably get the results the day after.\n\nThe government ones? ¢10 but then I would be standing in a line for like 2 hours.\nIn my hometown alone there are 35-40 private hospitals. It's a suburb-ish kinda town. There is also one semi-giant 500 bed government hospital. Most services are free there except AC cabins.\n\nI personally don't wish to go to Canada.

Very kidding same reason still used by Canadian employers for job seekers without local working experience today when moving to Canada more than 20 years ago. Think twice if you want to move to Canada for better life without job. This is not a country for many professionals. They will use same excuses used back to 20 years ago to reject you: no local work experience, no Canadian degree, etc. The truth is no opportunity. Im currently 15 years old. And i wanted to go to Canada for education. I never wanted to live in America, cause every day i heard about a pretty bad police and Health care and obviously people. \nNiether go to Australia cause there are a lot of dangerous plants and animals (Im not going to lose an eye to a bird, or life to a spider). \nAnd i honestly praying that to the time i get 18-19, Canada became better. I’m an international student from China and I never worked here. My Indian classmates ruined our final project. Wearing slippers for presentations and even cannot finish a simple website, my roommates are Indians as well, and they are all good. But some students they’re not come here to study, just for work. But just keeping the balance between study and work, will make other students have bad experiences. I also want to get the PR here, but it depends on my abilities and other factors. I love country music, K-pop, and pop Jazz, I watched a documentary about Canada before I came, and I was a volunteer at the London Air Show, Comic Con, Food Bank and Ronald Macdonald House. In addition, I also help the Church group make posters and videos. You come here is to integrate local culture and accept the rules and order, you can keep your own identity a features. you know, I have worked with temps in BC for over four years. They come in/phone in and ask for temp work, but here is the thing,....they don't want to do construction work. they want a company to oblige their school schedules, warehouse, forklifting only at 25 to 30 an hour. Its a scam to get PR.....they are not citizens, they are visitors. Ever single one of these students I've met ALL of THEM feel they're entitled to the same right and privileges as Canadian born citizens. Its just twisted. \nOur government is being played HARD.

Who said they don't want to go home? Canada invites international students with a promise to give them PR if they can finish school and qualify using one of the programs. I know because that's how I came to Canada. Unlike the US where it's hard to stay and you need a marriage, in Canada you can use a qualifying job. Usually people sponsored by family to get PR, as well as refugees, are put ahead of international students as well as those on work permits. \n\nIn the meantime, International students over-pay into post secondary, as well as working off campus and paying taxes, but are always last in line when it comes to being granted PR. The rules change so much so fast, it's easy to find yourself out of time and kicked out of the country. \n\nSo whoever watches this will be happy that International students are getting kicked out, but the problem with too much immigration won't be solved because the country is still taking in so many refugees. Right now it's international students getting the axe and are the scape goats in ths game. \n\nAlso, the reason why Canada takes in more immigrants beyond the obvious, is because they want to eventually do away with property rights. Canada is a corporation and I guess the more immigrants WE have then the GDP looks better. I am a Canadian and my mother was born here and my grandmother came to Canada in 1907 from the USA when she was 7 years old. I was born in the 1940s and brought up in rural surroundings. Back then We had traditional beliefs and I had farming background. Connection of relatives and helping our neighbours were how We lived. I became a schoolteacher. I saw that in 1954 when I went to school that learning was not natural and it was fear based. Then I completed a dip. of ed psy and then I decided that if I ever wanted to help change the system that I would require at least an m. ed. - leadership. I knew the university I went to would not be able to say no to me when I applied to get into this program. However, I was too much of an negative influence on the younger students and had to finish the last couple of classes at home and which I did. Today, the families have been divided, people do not connect or communicate properly and I have to question what living skills did I learn? Instead, my head was filled with propaganda which sadly, I've had to relearn. I say, stay in your own country and fix it there. Indian has some wonder ancient wisdoms for healing and health. The OWNERS of our nations like the banking families realize that when new immigrates come in that they assimilate more, and the older generations begin to question what THEY were taught and why. I remember when say a barn burned down or one had to be built that neighbours would help build the barn for the farmer. Then we would all celebrate and the women would get together and cook the food and we would have a barn dance. Life was simple then, but connection was authentic and we didnt lose ourselves. We must know ourselves and our history or we are lost and so many people live in chaos and ignorance. Learn to become our Divine selves. Learn to understand that WE are living in a fictional world when We are educated to be who we are not.

I was an international Student....15 years ago. I paid about 30k in tuition A YEAR.. I was NOT allowed to work off campus, i was allowed to work ON campus for a maximum of 10 hours A WEEK...in order for me to maintain my Visa status i had to maintain a GPA over 3.5 AND i had to be enrolled in an accredited institution. Our international student department had a quota of how many students they could recruit from every country... Rent was affordable, jobs were aplenty and when it came time for an Internship companies would come do hiring fairs and fight to get students to want to work for them. Now they get about 60k applicants a year that are willing to work for free and taking away from actual citizens.\nAfter 8 years of working and grinding and stressing i earned the right to get a Permanent residence...i had to commit 3 years out of 5 to stay here and work here and pay taxes for me to become a Canadian ...it was the proudest day of my life. I was filled with a sense of achievement that has been shat on by these students. \nIf you or anyone would actually like to talk about how it should be feel free to reach out.\nI will tell you this for free...if a Canadian Citizen did this in my country .. they'd be on the first flight home.

As someone born and raised in the Toronto area, it's impossible for me to afford to own a house or apartment here on a teacher's salary. Even rent pushes me to the limit unless I want to live in a... less than nice area. I'm living hand to mouth and enjoying the benefits of living in a 'developed' country less. Here's why:\n\n1. Wages aren't really even close to keeping up with the cost of living. The first tick upwards a bit. The second just keeps rising on the back of housing, food, amenities, and inflation: the four horsemen.\n\n2. Our grocery cabal ruthlessly raise prices whenever we look away, and their lobbyists are all ensconced within the leadership of our three major parties, particularly the Conservatives (so if anyone thinks that electing them will help, they're in for a nasty surprise).\n\n3. We're experiencing 'labour shrinkflation': increasing duties are downloaded onto workers and more is expected: more productivity, more availability (almost 24/7 in some jobs), and higher qualifications. Meanwhile, real wages are decreasing relative to living cost, more positions are 'contract', which is basically a way for employers to not have to give you benefits, and job security is tenuous for a lot of people.\n\n4. Houses are being bought by investors and not owners. Foreign entities are money laundering. The wealthy upper crust of high population countries are moving here and buying property because Canada is (still) more safe and stable and less repressive than their home countries in most cases. \n\n5. There's a cycle beginning: as people are squeezed and forced to spend more on 'needs', they spend less on eating out, entertainment, and other 'wants'. These are significant drivers of the service economy and they're being hit hard. So, what can they do? They can let go of workers or lower product costs to remain profitable, but they their quality declines and, in a market where people are pinching every penny and looking for quality for their dollar, they're less likely to go back. They can raise their prices, of course, but then they price people out completely and their profits still tank. I went to a decent steakhouse for my dad's 60th last week. I can't remember the last time that I went to one before that. \n\n6. Our politicians and news cycles focus on the most niche and irrelevant stuff because it'll stoke anger and get tongues wagging. This carbon thing is almost a non-issue, but our conservative leader is harping on about it like it's singlehandedly the death of the Canadian economy when it's a drop in the bucket. Trudeau focuses on 'equity' measures, hoping for a bit of cheap good press, while his efforts are, for the most part, just window dressing and the issues, while meaningful, are often not of paramount importance or even applicable to the vast majority of the people who elected him. Meanwhile, the middle class is pretty much evaporating as he speaks. The NDP keep talking about this in a pretty real way, for what it's worth, but Jagmeet Singh is giving off an increasing vibe of just being another fat cat politician beneath his rhetoric these days. Also, third-party trolls and screeching conservatives try to bury him on social media whenever he speaks... a lot more than other leaders as well, oddly. I wonder why? Oh yeah, the Greens exist and there's Quebec and the conspiracy theory party.\n\n\nUltimately, what we're experiencing is the revenge of the feudal system. Instead of paying rents to your lord and doing labour on the land for him whenever commanded to, you pay rent to your landlord now and go to work even when you're sick or when work hours are over because you have no union protection or are working 'on contract'. Unless we want to live in the armpit of nowhere, 95% of us are going to be wage slaves living hand-to-mouth, not owning our own property, and working to please our corporate overlords if current trends continue unchecked. While some of Canada's problems are unique, I fear that most aren't. As for me, I'm headed to the 'armpit of nowhere' where I can at least have a ghost of a chance of affording life.

Soon every city in Ontario will be brown town… why is it that we never really had all these scams going on till the last few years?only people I see get caught are brown with multiple fake ids. Non stop scam calls, texts , emails mainly preying on our elderly people and what do they get a theft under 5000 charge and that’s nothing. You have people renting rental to turn around and not live in it just rerent them to brown people and stick 4 in each room for 500 a person.. what to pay for the house they live in or send it all back home. If your white here they won’t even rent to you even if you wanted to because they know the only people that will live in those conditions are them. It's great that people want to come here and study, but... When you come here and abuse the rules and work well beyond the limits of your work permit and work double and triple the amount of hours that is not ok. Another issue is when you take only business courses and then fail out just you didn't actually get any skills that are needed in this county to allow you to stay after your schooling. If you follow the rules, great! Come learn and work and share our culture for your school term, but if you don't want to follow the rules...

Remember The protest, which was called the Freedom Convoy, that many Canadians were a part of and look at the reputations many of them endured because they stood up for what they believed in. Now international students protest across Canada because they want to stay once their student visa expires, and they have a chance to be granted their demands; I don't see our PM threatening to freeze their bank accounts. I just don't get it.
