I hate to tell you this but Canadians have always moved around to other countries for opportunities. Given the number of Canadians living in Los Angeles makes it Canada’s 4th largest city. The government has made a Canada a place where there is no way for an average middleclass earner to raise a family we are simply taxed to death. Anyone who wants to have a chance to put a roof over their head and not be slaved to this new form of Corporate Robber Baren basically has to leave Canada. This is a nice place to live its has way too many laws and regulations but it still is relatively safe and has a better than average School and Healthcare system. However we are taking in way more people than the system can handle and the only way to pay for it is to raise taxes and the cycle continues.

The fact that Canada is horribly unaffordable and you can't just walk in and get a job as a doctor, is not exactly a secret. Did none of those immigrants bother to actually do a bit of reasearch before they came here? Or did they come based on the word on the streets that trudeau loves to hand out free money? When my parents came here they consulted friends that were already here and ensured jobs were secured before they stepped on that boat. I have family that simply moved from one province to another that did a deep dive on housing, labor market, cost of living and health care, and secured a job, before moving. The immigrants now just think they can step out of the airport and be handed keys to a new home and their preferred job. Their fault.

Canada is an extremely expensive country to live in and the wages paid to workers is crap. No wonder all these new immigrants are leaving.

A country is a home you fight for & to make a contribution. To make it better for the next generation. Immigration has made Canada great because new comers worked to make Canada great. Asians, Irish, Brits, Italians and the list goes on. They made Canada attractive to so many. If new comers aren't prepared to make Canada a home then by all means leave.

Canada receive WAYYY too many immigrants. There is nothing wrong with immigration when you can actually handle the new immigrants.\nThe housing, school and health system cant handle the constant high influx of new citizens. That's why the housing market is insane right now.

You are true man. I lived in Europe and the first month I landed there, I knew that I will never be able to set big goals and achieve them. When I decided to move in Canada, everything changed. having citizenship seems normal, but thinking about Europe (Italy) where i had to wake up at 4 AM to be able to find a spot in the line to renew my documents, I only had to worry about my personal growth. Nowadays, thank you my Lord I am a M. I do not want to say it, but it is true. IO am ready to set new goals. Good luck to everyone who wants to come in Canada, but you have to be very good in order to accomplish great achievements (discipline). Only the sky is the limit in North America.

New citizens are just using Canada as a springboard to go from Canada to America. We need stricker rules for citizenship and give more work visas for specific industries of 2 year intervals.

Canada should be considered as bypass country, get Citizenship and leave to USA. Canada is third world country in hide of First world country. Living there since 2013, moving out of here as soon as I get chance. No savings, high expenses, low salary standards, less opportunities, very few corporate culture & few big firms, highest depression in developed world, worst weather, poor government, less progress & development. Been 10 years, still don’t see much new thing there, even same cloths & design can be found in stores which I bought 10 years back. Literally, living in Canada is monotonous.

Yikes! Born and raised in Syracuse, NY and after college spent 16 years in Los Angeles until finally moving back to NY last year. Any comparison between Toronto and L.A. I simply won't stand for.....and I really mean that because you have less gun violence, seems like more cultures get along there, plus it looks cleaner. I'd consider moving to Buffalo just to be within an hour of Toronto to take weekend trips. After seeing how the rents up there are close to SF or NYC, def can't move there anymore. There's an appeal Canada has in terms of safety and perhaps better quality of life than the U.S. but frustrating to see housing crisis is even worse up there! So I was born in Russia, then moved to Toronto, then lived in New York for 5 years... Let me tell you waits in emergency room in New York aren't nearly as bad as in Toronto... but costs... 300 dollar copay when my employer in New York was giving me one of the best insurance available in US... But I just didn't like living in US... I moved back to Toronto eventually to lower pay, mainly because my relatives are here... but having social safety net and stuff like that is nice, even if my salary in Toronto is lower than in NYC...\nP.S. both USA and Canada are way better than living in Russia tho

What you have said is very true, however there are people who would still like to relocate to Canada because of lot of things.\nAny relocation in the new place there is going to be difficult times but once they are settled, they are very happy in Canada,\nas they get used to the place.

The wait times are too long in Canada. It can be several hours to the next day. My dad went to emergency when his stomach was hurting and he couldn't even get seen and he chose to go home and just rest. I had an at the time undiagnosed eye disease and had eye pain with my left eye closed up and wasn't able to get seen by anyone for quite awhile either. As I knew that over time my eye would eventually open up, I checked out of the E.R. and went home. That was during New Year's as well. It wasn't a great way to welcome 2016.

Look up where American health care ranks in the world. It ranks last when compared to 6 other industrialized countries. Those were Australia, Canada, Germany, Netherlands, New Zealand.

I felt this video was just a rant about how she could not adjust herself in canada because she had always lead a struggle free and spoon fed life in india. Dude I leave in canada too and all the hardships you described were the least I including many of the people who described their experience leaving here are concerned for but we are fighting against those and struggling and thus now are able to live a stable life. Because we know what it is meant by struggling you had options in india but many belong to the lower middle class life and we don't even get the chance that you just enjoyed and rant about. and yes adjusting in a new country is a hassle but that is something you already have to keep in mind before going there.

I lived in the US for 30 years. I hated every year, except for having my sons there. My American husband is a staunch NRA supporter. At the 30 year mark, when I gave him an ultimatum. I gave him 30 years down there, and the time had come where he needed to do 30 years in Canada. We've been in Canada for 6 years, and he doesn't ever want to go back.\nI feel for the new mothers, who only get 6 weeks maternity leave (8 weeks for C-Section).\nCanadian Mums get a full year. Nurturing your new baby is necessary for a well-balanced child. You can't bond in 6 weeks. \nYour health insurance is nuts. We paid $1500/mo. just for our family. Then you have a $5k deductible first! Just walking into the ER is $500 and THEN add on labs, x-rays, meds, etc. My son was in mental health treatment and our insurance capped mental health at $25k for life. \nThe biggest slap up my head, was when I found out I CAN'T collect my SSI. I paid a lot of taxes, since we made 6 figures/year. So, now I'm screwed, since they won't pay a former Permanent Resident. Had I been a citizen, I could get it. My husband is a PR in Canada, waiting to take his citizenship test. If he applies for SSI, he needs to go down to the States for 30 days and nights, annually. \nI'm from Toronto, born and raised and I am so happy to have my feet back in my own country. I am a dual citizen, spending 6 months/year in Canada, working remotely for a Canadian bank. It was pretty comfortable living in Canada years ago, however I'd prefer living in the US now. Canadian advantage over USA, healthcare system, is deteriorating very fast, with hordes of new immigrants coming every year ... Canada soon will be a hostile to the US country with current levels of immigration from Asian countries unfriendly to USA. I am considering leaving Canada for good, heading back to the US or moving to Portugal/Spain, selling a house in Canada will allow buying a nice property elsewhere.

Canada was good, but it has gone downhill immencely in the past decade or so. We are now in the top 5 countries on earth for housing cost to income ratio. Many Canadians can't even afford a home or rent here any more. A one bedroom apartment in Toronto where I live can go for 2,400 a month. Millions of immigrants arriving and the economy has largely stagnated despite all these new people. Lots of blindly partisan Liberals here though that will never admit the country is in serious decline. Don't let them lecture you about healthcare and social safety nets either there are literally MILLIONS of people in Ontario our largest province where I live that can't even access a family doctor even if they were willing to pay for one. With the number of people not being able to access basic medical services here I would not call it unviersal any more.

I've had about 8 friends and 2 relatives who have tried life in the USA.\nOne cousin is still in Colorado after moving there with her 2nd husband, an American, over 10 years ago. The rest have come back to Canada and the biggest general impression I get is that it is simply a huge relief to get out of there. That is a huge contrast to the people I know who had tried life in Mexico, Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Europe, Thailand, Japan, VietNam, Australia, and New Zealand: far fewer of them have come back to Canada because they are happy with life there. And the ones who have come back all have things they miss about the countries and most want to go back someday.\n\nMost of the people I know who have come back from the USA are highly critical of the utter lack of a decent health care system in the USA, but for them it was a solvable problem because they had decent jobs and insurance while they were in the USA. What gave them so much relief when they came back to Canada was that during their time in the USA they never felt safe. There is something fundamentally and brutally fucked up about a country where every bank has armed guards, the mall cops are armed, half of the people in your neighbourhood are armed, you're scared to send your children to school, and every time you turn around you see a cop with his hand on his gun.

Canada is not perfect by any means. Lots of room to improve things, and I absolutely love and appreciate Americans. Great folks. But, the fact that any person, rich or poor, no matter who it is, can go to the doctor as many times as they need to without getting a big bill. We do pay for little things. Like... sometimes you pay for crutches or special devices, but for the most part, you don't. It comes out of our taxes.\n\nPlus, couples get a year of maternity leave here. It can be split any way the couple likes. LIke... the mom or dad can have the whole year or they can split it up between them, part mom and part dad gets it. We have unemployment insurance we pay from our taxes, so if you get suddenly laid of from work, ,you get some money coming in for a while to tide you over until you find a new job. And the disabled can get disability coverage too.\n\nOf course, we do pay higher taxes for these things, but... I kinda like that everybody gets healthcare. NO, I'm not into Communism, but having social programs is great. And... um... we do have more education in Canada, and more avenues to get help with tuition.

This may have already been mentioned below: apart from healthcare (which nowadays is precarious in Canada), in Canada new parents have compensated parental leave (formerly was just 'maternity leave'). The duration and financial support has expanded over time, and there are some differences from province to province, but when I lived in the US the most shocking thing was women pushing out babies and then running back to work within a few weeks. They could technically take a brief period of unpaid leave, apparently, but that's it. Crazy.

Hey there, you fine American... Just to let you understand, our system is FAR from perfect, but it's still easy access and quick service IF you don't need a rare specialist or a not so rare one). The thing is, it's ALL priority based, so if you wait, it's because someone needs your resources even MORE than you do. Sometimes, it ends up in a tragedy, but MOST times, it allows for the neediest to get it first. \nAs far as having children here, we have a NEGATIVE birthrate, so our government PAYS us to have children. My son grew up in Quebec, and they have a double everything. Double taxes (not that bad after the tax deductions and credits), but they also Double the safety net and services, compared to the rest of Canada. Not only was childbirth free, so were the pre-natal courses and everything else, AND we got around 1000$/mo in childcare benefits, until he turned 18, with full of tax credits per kid. Plus, daycare was 5$/day back then, it's 7$/day almost 20 years later.. Pretty citizen friendly. \nThings MIGHT be changing though. Our conservatives are taking their talking points from the US GOP since COVID, and they are all-in to please their Oil lobby overlords and donators out in our prairies region. The Alberta Premier is a far-right conspiracy nutcase and her new pet-project is Capitalist healthcare (among her trolley of lunacies). SAME place the far-right rednecks always come at us from. The best province in Canada is British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia, and Newfoundland. My favorite city is Halifax, but I've been in Vancouver the most. (I'm an American.)

Tyler, with all due respect, because I enjoy watching your channel, you seemed to equate “Upstate New York” with New York City in your example of Toronto not representing all of Canada. Upstate New York is that part of New York state that is everything BUT New York City and Long Island.

If I had to choose between Canada and USA I would choose Canada because of similarities to countries I have lived in like the United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand.

First lets mention what I like about the United States. Americans are easy to make friends with. They have no problem making friends with complete strangers. Americans can be very inviting to compared to many places I have traveled to. The only place that compares in Canada is Newfoundland. In Canada you generally need an invite to a group to make friends.\n\nI liked how varied each state is. Changing states can sometimes feel crossing into a new world of sorts. This change can be both good and bad (i.e. Georgia very educated, Tennessee quite backwater). \n\nWhat I don't like is how Americans are overly patriotic, they can be borderline nationalistic and it is creepy (i.e. school children pledging allegiance before they even know what that means). In Canada if I don't want to stand during the playing of the national anthem no problem I don't have to. If you do that in the United States someone will address you and not in a favorable way. I also find their patriotism blinds many Americans to the truth about their country (i.e. many American truly have no idea how they compare to the rest of the world in many areas).\n\nLastly their infrastructure is terrible. Their infrastructure is first class if you are a driving a car, but in many places you aren't getting anywhere without that car. Is that such an added expense to have to own a car. This is the same problem in Canada, but from having lived in Europe and Asia I miss good transit systems.

I'm Canadian and lived in New York City for 5 years. I was offered a job and thought, why not? After 6 months, my excitement wore off. Of course, there's healthcare, but everything is about politics, and I mean everything. Such a focus on it. I know I'm talking about NYC here, but the people were not nice at all. Nobody cares about anyone as a human being. People are just plain argumentative and want to get into a scuffle. Let's just say I was very aware I was Canadian. I was baffled at the lack of humanity. In the beginning, I was holding doors open for people, etc, and people wouldn't even say Thank You. I naively expected people to do the same and guess what? It didn't happen. My work visa was for 3 years, so I was ready to move, and then, of course, COVID hit. I was stuck for another two years, then my passport expired so I had to wait to get that. After 5 years I was ready to head back to Canada. I moved back on Sept 2, 2022 and couldn't be happier. I could not live in the United States again.

It’s not just the cost of giving birth, but also the lack of paid leave afterwards. Canada offers 12-18 months for new parents with employment insurance and most employers top that up for some portion. The US still has no national requirements for leave.

I have to make a comment about the weather being “warmer” in the USA ? Lol I think it’s a bit silly as both countries are huge and have very diverse weather . Plus just because the USA is south of Canada it does NOT mean it’s warmer . For example in the winter , here in British Columbia Canada, in the southern parts , we SELDOM get snow or indeed the cold temps that MOST of the USA receives . In New York City there are huge snow storms and icy temps every winter yet it’s far south compared to our location . Generalisations are ridiculous …?

Canada has a 12 month maternity leave for new parents. Mom or dad get to stay home with their new baby. There is no charge for anyone to give birth.

Hi Tyler ~ As this is a “younger” demographic…I was wondering if you could do a comparison with an older demographic - such as the who go to Florida and Arizona, as well as, a few other places, such as Palm Springs during the colder months. If they happen to be there for Christmas ~ CANUCKS (what Canadians refer to another Canadian) usually gather, close a few blocks of the neighbourhood and have Christmas dinner, then there’s Bonfire Night with fireworks in November (for the NEWFOUNDLANDERS that go to Florida), New Years celebrations is another. I could go on, as I have family that live 3/4 of the year in Canada and go to their southern homes for 3-4 max months of the winter. It would definitely be interesting on their perspective, as they can travel and interact with all demographics of society…including the police…as well as, their experiences with ** in the USA!\n\nCheers??☺??
