I live in india and i havent seen any of my sikh friends in schools, colleges and even in my work place carrying a kirpan or knife, i have seen only nihangs or sikh priest carrying them. I think when you move to a foreign land you tend to show your identity aggressively to be different, even muslims in western countries are more radical than here.

As a Indian people say kirpan a knife or weapon. what about other religion ? As per a Muslim hijab it's not so necessary to wears it all time but in Sikh religion who practices a Amrit dhari are necessary to carry a kirpan and a kirpan not longer than 4 or 6 inches as per American rules ?

Hmm as a Indian i see more highlights of this video are people's talking about is to not where or change your religion practice hmm as we know about our constitution we have to right to practice religion freely as far as you can. But people of India also unawared about Sikh religion practice for a kirpan. Every country in this world India also included in this to freely practice and Sikhs have to carry kirpan 'not knife' for Amrit people's not every Sikh. It's legal in every country ?

People carry guns and shoot innocent people who are may be from the same religion. He is our Indian brother from the Sikh community. Kirpan is one of the 6 essentials that every Sikh must carry in Sikhism - Dastaar (turban), Kada (steel bracelet), Kesh (uncut hair), Kangha (wooden comb), Kachcha (cotton underwear) and Kirpan (steel sword). He was wearing a turban. And if they still can't recognize a person from Sikh community from actual troublemakers and terrorists, then it's deplorable. That police officer must be immediately suspended till he learns his lesson. Jai Hind ??

I am from India and I never seen my b Sikh friends roaming everywhere with a kirpan . If your in another country respect their culture and rules . Don’t try to show off. The cop was right . He was roaming with a dangerous weapon.

I can understand the world is not understanding Sikh perspective till date, but all those so called Hindu(they do know the importance of kirpan for a Sikh)but still finds a way to criticise Sikhs, even though their ancestors and themself are alive today because of Sikhs and the sacrifices made my Sikh gurus. This is unacceptable for Sikh community. The Kirpaan is a religious symbol and date clearly shows that no Sikh has used it in a bad way.

Last Nihang sikhs chopped Indian policeman hand with swords, nihangs killed innocent people in the name of protecting religion, keep dummy swords or knife if your religion make it mandatory but actually carrying the whole weapon is risk for everyone around.

I have seen videos of Sikh truck drivers keeping even swords. Any kind of weapon shouldn't be allowed in the name of religion in public places. A weapon is a weapon what ever u call it in the name of religion. Apt action taken here.

This is so absurd, I have been friends with Sikhs all my life. They're such amazing people. In US, they're often confused with Muslims. Few years ago, a Sikh police officer Sandeep Dhaliwal was murdered in Texas.

I hope sikh students start wearing it under shirt so as not to get hate crimed. Americans are crazy
