Usa and Canada aren´t the best countries of the world but a lot inmigrant people think in the economic progress, but Brazil is the best country in the world or another, the USA officers cancel my Visa legal, I tried to visit Denver for 15 days, I tried to get in by Fort Lauderdale, and immigration officers, stop me, I was treated like a criminal, I am a systems engineer, a university professor and I was in a cell one night, the first time this happened to me and there is no justification when my passport and visa were fine.

if Muslim are so much that persecuted in Canada, how comes their numbers don’t cease to increase year after year, and millions of other muslims around the world do the impossible to immigrate to Canada? ... I applaud Cityline for bringing this topic up in Canada!! In the US, we see overt racism every day. Oftentimes, it’s the micro aggressions happening to the people I love that breaks my heart. I’ve seen young people, full of hope, feeling that their lives matter, over time, be shattered by a constant beating of racism.

Of course it's wrong and people are dumb for thinking and acting this way. But, this is human nature. We evolved to be wary of outsiders because at one time it served us as a species. Take any race and put them in any other country where they aren't the majority and this will happen. Acceptance of all is still new to us

I am Living in Ottawa I am white, I lived here my whole life and now I am a minority I deal with different races all the time and I do feel that I am being pushed out of my country different ethnicities treat me with disrespect I was growing up with Canadian culture of respecting everyone around you but I fine with all these different cultures coming in I’m losing my Canadian identity and it is a lot for me to hold strong onto the values as of what the Canadian is and I’m a fourth generation Canadian I see what’s happening to our veterans I visit my grandfather every other week and I see all the different nationalities that are PSW‘s and nurses And I really mean no offence but we have a different level of respect we have a different way of talking and these different nationalities coming in they all click together and some of them they treat the men who built this country with such disrespect please listen to meand I’m really not Trying racially profile this is been happening for the last 15 years and I’m not being silent about it Canada is freedom of speech Canada is being strong enough to speak up I mean this from the bottom of my heart if you’re coming into my country that my grand parents built for me and my children can you please give my children the opportunity that you were now taking from them and I see how they treat our veterans I see how difficult it is for seniors that didn’t have a placement in our homeless I see that all of our government funding is now going to people that are now immigrating into Canada and they’re being able to start up small businesses have four bedroom townhomes in their children to schools and drive them and fancy SUVs can you look around us and see somebody sold Canada

Years ago I was looking for an apartment with my girl-friend and we looked at a great place and being white we didn't even think twice about being discriminated against. Oddly enough the woman (who happened to be middle-eastern) didn't want to rent to us because we weren't married. Just goes to show that people are silly for all sorts of reasons and none of them are good.

I think subtle racism is actually a very practical type of stereotyping and it didn't just got created out of air, there is a big chunk of that specific race (be it any race according to the stereotype) who actually prove the stereotype to be right. I am from india, living in Canada and if some house owner would prefer a white guy over me to rent their house, I would not blame him since a lot of people don't like the smell of spices that we cook all the time.\n\nAs far as stereotyping is sublet and not rude or hurting, I don't think it's actually so much of racism rather then preference.\n\nI just want to make it clear though that I do support racism, whatever is happening in US and a lot of other countries which is violent is a very horrible thing. Specially black people being racially profiled everywhere including malls and by the police themselves.

I have been followed in target for looking like people of walmart. As a mom of two I rarely look fabulous. Typically I look pretty homeless without hair and makeup. \nWhen I was followed it made me feel so shameful when I was doing NOTHING wrong. I ended up leaving with nothing and I haven't been back since. Now I am imagining this happening everywhere.\nI am so sorry for the world we live in. Especially for people of color.

I think what happens is people get grouped together from someone elses behaviour. I remember in Toronto in the 70's a guy from India or Pakistan planted a garden in a room of his apartment. The tenant below called the landlord to say there was a leak upstairs and his unit was being flooded. People judged all people of his ethnic background to this man's standard. You think that landlord wants to take another chance.

Most people have a racial bias. It happens naturally. That’s why we have to educate ourselves.\n\nIf you had the same race commit a crime over and over, your brain naturally tries to associate the bad people with that race.\n\nWe had all the pictures of previous shoplifters at the store. The majority of shoplifters were from 1 race. A lot of workers can’t distinguish different people of the same race. So they start associating similar features to crimes. \n\n\n\nI have my employees confuse me for another black employee. And I also confuse them for another.

I suggest going back too his country of origin and vote for politician's that will reform his government. It's crazy people from poorer countries keep electing socialist governments. Honestly, this is sad, because these people obviously didn't receive higher education. I don't mean it in a bad way, but seriously, getting an education prevents stuff like this from happening because you actually LEARN to think critically about others' situations and the way the world works.

Racism does NOT surround us. Racism, by definition requires more than one Race to be involved in order for discrimination based on Race to happen. Discrimination CAN happen based on skin color, cultural background, language spoken, country of origin, heritage of ancestors. That is true. None of that however indicates a different Race of people, it only highlights superficial differences in appearance. It is time to end the idea that Racism based on race exists, because claiming discrimination based on Race is the first step to basic Human Rights violations. The Human Race is the only Race of people on the planet.

We need to have a little bit of compassion for Muslims who are struggling with this. Imagine that you were born into Islam. You didn't ask for it. You just happened to be unlucky enough to be born into a Muslim country and raised under it. It's not their fault that they believe what they believe. \nWe need to help them to free them from the chains of Islam. The way to help them and free them from Islam is by educating them with the truth. It's difficult for them to accept because they have devoted their entire life to it. It's also quite a shock when they see all of the errors in the Quran which is supposed to be the pure word of an all-powerful and all-knowing God. Then they see things like- the sun revolves around the earth and sets in a pool of muddy water. It's like somebody telling you that your dear friend has been lying to you for the last 50 years of your life. You just can't believe it. You don't want to believe. You defend your friend, you love your friend. \n\nSo instead of insulting these poor Muslim people try helping them by suggesting that they read the Koran cover to cover from beginning to end. Then they will see for themselves that this 7th century book conflicts with modern scientific and historical knowledge. That's when they will realize that Muhammad invented the entire thing so that people would obey him and treat him like a god on Earth. That's when they will realize that he was a 7th century man who knew nothing about the scientific knowledge that we have now in this century. That's when they will realize that the Quran is filled with threats of punishment and violence for not believing and not obeying the supposed word of God given to them by Muhammad. Muhammad put harsh punishments in it so that they would submit out of fear. This is why Islam is so violent. \n\nTo our Muslim friends in humanity. I'm so sorry that you were lied to. I am shocked at the fact there are more dislikes than likes when the CBC provides facts and so many people say they are lies, and others agree! The negative sentiments about refugees and immigrants are getting louder and people are happy to call fellow human beings “them”. They insinuate this is a huge burden, when the fact is we benefit from migration.
