Hearing the stories on here about the legal process taking upwards of 15 years...I don't know if that is typical, but the fact is that the US already takes in more than 50% of the world's immigrants, and that's the legal, documented ones. We have to send a message that illegal immigration is not tolerated. You can't just expect to come here whenever and however you want because of poor conditions in your country. University students who spend 100k+ on education and are in the Canadian system are having problems getting residency, whereas shady people who get here illegally or get residency by immoral do it without much problem. I mean not even illegals but some south asians who are literally scamming and exploiting the system, have no problem and then when you take people from very low income class enter your country and who do uncivilized things you are astonished what else you are expecting a lot of them are uneducated who are not civilized, make your screening process better, if you want immigrants due to labour shortages and slow population increase, try to incorporate students and potential people who have more chances to fit your society. This trend will lead to an anti-immigrant narrative. We have seen a similar trend in Europe. They took the worst people in who were problematic in their countries to begin with

I am all for Immigration, but it isn't unreasonable to expect an orderly process with background checks to make sure nobody dangerous enters the country. If they are forcing their way in like this, it impedes our ability to ensure that nobody in the crowd is a safety risk.\n\nOur system can be improved and remove inefficiencies to make it faster, but you can't just waltz in without any process of immigration, that isn't acceptable.

I think you are judging Canada using relatively small scope of criteria. Is some of what you say true? Probably. But there is so much more to Canada. Personally, I think there is so much beauty here, but I sure the hell don't expect to find it in Vancouver, or any other major city. It comes down to how you look at something. Canada has been run into the ground by government after government for 40 or 50 years now. Every level of government in Canada serves itself at the expense of the people paying taxes. All government employees have unshakeable job security, unbelievable benefits and pensions, and a total lack of accountability of any kind. Debt has been run up over this period continuously at every government level. In spite of the huge taxes, government continues to borrow ever more money to serve itself.\nI wrote a letter to then Prime Minister Brian Mulroney decades ago asking why the government was continuously running deficits and how did he expect to pay for it all? All I got back in response was a bull$hit form letter. Now with the liberals in government you can see the bloat in government and it's spending increasing even more than under the conservatives.\nThe most frustrating thing about Canada and Canadians is that they keep voting in incompetent and spend thrift governments. It seems that in Canada the dream is to get yourself a cozy government job and just turn into a taker rather than a creator. The thing is, when the US and its allies are destabilizing the other countries, you can expect millions people from those countries are going end up at their doorsteps for sure. Again, It's not science.

Where are these millions of new immigrants going to work? Since the election of Liberals, Canada has had the slowest growing economy in the industrialized world! The world expects Canada's lacklustre performance to continure for the next 20 years. So are these new immigrants coming with suitcases full of money to invest in new companies? Are the skilled tradesman coming from developed nations with similar building codes and material or from countries that build houses without any codes or inspection? Do the Medical Doctors receive the same education as 1st world doctors or are they like doctors in most developing and 3rd world countries where they enter medical school straight from Grade 11 and graduate 4-5 years later with a medical degree and their medical experience is all with 3rd world diseases? OR what is more likely is that these new immigrants will have to go back to school (paid for by Canadian taxpayers) to bring their education and skills to the minimum level of Canadians? It will take the average new immigrant 6-10 years before they are making a net positive contribution to the Canadian economy. This would be affordable if our economy was outpacing other industrialised nations OR if we had fewer immigrants but this is a strategy for bankruptcy. My prediction is that the Canadian dollar will be $0.60 USD within 5 years or less. My recommendation is start moving your savings and retirement funds to the USA.

Canada should put a limit to number of refugees they can accept. We can do our part but we can’t openly let anyone in. With climate change, it is expected that the number of refugees with increase in the world. What will canada do then? Put a number limit now. It’s not a easy decision but someone has to take it.

For those who want to study here in Australia - be warned that you are buying an education first & foremost. Australia does not owe you anything more that, but they are very greatful that you are contributing to their economy. Australian businessess will only cherry pick the best of you, so you can't just be average and expect a job. If they want average there are plenty of Australians to choose from for that, except those jobs who are in very high demand (e.g nursing).
