Chill bro, Canada has enough space for 100 million people. The Govt just needs to ease off on the zoning laws, get rid of the bureaucracy involved in approving new build houses.

Sometimes… it is better to LEAVE Canada once one gets the passport to avoid high living costs and crappy services (healthcare among others) and high taxes. It is sometimes a good idea to use the passport and experiences (make sure it is not from those survival jobs they lure to many immigrants) and use that elsewhere… to me, 3 years after uniting here, I knew I wouldn’t retire here nor buy a house here (not worth it)!!!

You can blame Trudeau but this is happening all over the world. The problem is that central banks target a certain amount of inflation (usually 2%). However in their inflation calculations they don't include the price for housing. So they are not steering the economy on true inflation. Resulting in a decade of very low interest rates which resulted in souring housing prices.

This nation is very overrated beyond belief. I get that the nation has free health care. However, everything is insanely expensive from houses to mere groceries. Specially—in B.C.—rent crisis is an ongoing problem, causing young people to move from one AirBnB house to another. Because the government of the aforementioned province is really hapless and meek. Yes, there are not that many rental units available for young families and fresh-out-of college students. But, we will not build an ample amount of rental housing units for the poor and the young. How can people manage to start a family and a business? You have to come into inheritance to do that. Bad. Really bad.

long story short: canadians (the ones with homes) dont want new houses built, but canadians (without homes) wants new houses built.

And all these newcomers require medical care, food, education and housing. This increases economic acitivity for business and social service workers. A growing economy benefits big business and the rich but not the working class. It is the working class that is being sold out. Why hire a Canadian when I can get an Indian who will work twice as hard for half the money. The rich in the US and Canada love the situation.

U can't blame immigrants for following opportunity or wanting better lives for their kids. But u can blame the universities for putting profits ahead of canadian students. U can blame municipal and provincial govts for not building affordable housing in 30 years while selling out land to greedy developers. U can blame the pandemic. U can blame big grocery chains for gauging customers. None of these things have anything to do with trudeau OR immigrants. U fools sayin F trudeau dont even understand how things work.

Blaming the immigrants instead of the laxism of federal and provincial governments in social housing is typical. F*ck off.\n\nYou could maybe... Build public affordable housing to compete with the private sectors and pull the price downward... \n\nNo, it's brown people.

The underlining issue wealth inequality. The middles class is being attacked and they don’t even know it.\n\nIf there’s no legislation or bill to stop rich from buying middle class asset it is going to get worse. The rich is always going to have money. \n\nAnswer is to nationalise the housing market. That way you can build homes and sell it or rent for a affordable price.\n\nImmigration is a scape goat. The issue is tax the rich and wealthy elite.

In 1980, the corporate tax rate was 36%.
\n
\nToday? 15%, one of the lowest in the OECD.
\n
\nCorporations only contribute 25% to overall taxes collected.
\n
\nOver the same period of time, the feds cut building in social housing, and reduced proportionate expenditure in defense and health.
\n
\nSo here we are.

I live in the states and some places are catching up on housing stock. The Biden administration recently blocked a merger between grocery store giants and is becoming tougher on antitrust enforcement. The Biden admin along with Congress also increased IRS funding and has been catching more high-dollar tax cheats. In the US, Trudeau would be considered more of a corporate Democrat, which is a right wing party. (The US has no viable moderate or left-wing parties whatsoever)

Only hot laundered money can make it to the housing market.

Geez people - then look for immigrants who can build homes - then they will be able to build their own houses. The housing problem which Canada has is not very hard to solve if they approach it correctly..

I had colon cancer and I had to have surgery then chemo. If I was in the U.S. I would have died because I was not willing to sell my house to survive

How can we talk about the housing crisis and not mention the fact that provinces gutted the rent controls, allowing landlords to increase rents to whatever amount they choose. The rent control measures, which were removed by conservative provincial governments, kept rental prices within an affordable range, allowing renters who intended to buy to save enough for a down-payment on a house. That ain't Trudeau, that's the provinces.

House prices are out of control in Canada. Same thing is happening in the US, UK...
|
| 2024-04-24 | 0 |
You my friend are misleading about why houses are not built. Councils do not care about the value of homes. They care about the living standards. Why should we want to be crammed in ever more denser areas. People do not need to come to Canada they need to stay home and fix their country of origin.

Meh, in most of Europe you couldn't afford a house within your lifetime either. I eat one meal a day and that's still 200+ dollars per month

Don't you think this is a bit sensationalist to say no one wants to live here, considering millions are immigrating each year (way too many of course, but clearly many people want to live here)? The housing shortage started decades ago with the defunding of CMHC, which you didn't even mention. I guess it's convenient to have one (contemporary) scapegoat as opposed to realizing that all of these are systemic and GLOBAL issues that have been brewing for some time. Political parties are simply corporate pawns, and this is the same the world over.

In all fairness India is #1 the most racist country in the world, the least trusted country in the world and the only race that will use white names culturally appropriate and hold businesses that hire only Indians, and scam English countries. See the Uber driver that was murdered by an old man being scam. That was Indian scammers. They never face consequences for their behaviour. They bring down the quality of life whereever they live, watch a Ted Talk with evidence, they dont follow rules and regulations and abuse loopholes more than any culture. \nAs a white person, ive never experienced racism except by Indians.\nRefused work for not speaking Punjabi in Canada and refused housing for not being Indian, refused servicer for not being Indian.\nNo Korean, chinese, arab of any kind has treated me with aloof and diamissive behaviour the way an Indian has, as though I'm beneath them.\nEvery burger fast food restaurant that serves beef is now extra sketchy to me now while people that have never eaten beef and frown on me for doing so speaking to other staff members in Hindi maybe saying, these burgers fell on the floor, aah who cares its just a white person.\nWhy is the staff all Indians now.\nBecause of preferential hiring by Indian management. Youll see homeless white and black people outside though who's country failed them and handed off power to outsiders while framing white people as racist and Indians as victims.\nTurns out Hassan Minhaj lied about his victimhood, and I bet this Indian caused the anger this woman caused and although the man never uttered racist words, I bet his actions to bait her anger were motivated by racism. Afterall Indians are clever and are masters of social engineering.

Horrible robot voice. Hunting is not a JOB in Nova Scotia. Good bloody grief. And housing prices in Halifax are very high indeed. As a Canadian, understand that you are listening to a great deal of BULL SHIT in this video. And Quebec is in no way ‘European’. It is French-Canadian. Duh. Toronto is completely unaffordable for any average-wage worker. Double that for Vancouver.

frustrating how the comment section is scapegoating immigrants and not the rich asset owners hoarding, speculating in scarce housing resources\n\nthe developed world's fertility rates aren't high enough\ncombine that with generous welfare promises for boomers like retirement pensions, increasing healthcare costs as population ages, and you see why 'vetted' immigration is essential for every rich country be it a Singapore or Canada\n\nits the immigrant health care professionals who are running the NHS in UK, North America's health care system while also coughing the high taxes that bankroll the wealthier boomers\n\nscapegoating immigrants like they did in the run up to Brexit disaster in UK, results in better fitting immigrants getting turned away by broken system while the bad characters like religious extremists, who'd have 0 qualms over staying illegally will survive even a hostile immigration system\n\nits why I emphasize on a 'vetted' immigration system like Singapore

I am in the top 15% of earners. I couldn't afford to buy my house today. Same house I bought 18 years ago while I was making half of what i make now and I was the only earner in my family. I have money left every year , but I can't buy anything anymore. My kids will NEVER own a home unless something changes .

Canadians have this nonsensical idea that their government is not corrupt, I come from a very corrupt country and very quickly realized that they dupe them with the false idea of free healthcare and education…while they pay shit in almost all jobs and they have the highest level of monopolies in the world, Canada’s is governed by very few people that pretty much dictate everything that is why food, housing and every single thing is so expensive compared to other parts of the world….icbc should not exist, Telus, and all phone companies, trans link, loblaw is all a joke and they’re all corrupt

Brampton to Mississauga have always been heavy ethnic as that’s where all the ethnic groups were somewhat pushed to back in the day and anybody that lived in Brampton in Mississauga all these years. I’m sure love their 300% increase in the real estate which allow them to move to Flin Flon Manitoba with $1 million in the bank and bought a house cash!

you should review this video theres alot of biases and extreme right wing views, the problem is the polititions who are in with the colleges. there is a great housing crisis here and the blame goes to the closed minds and manipulative medias that make it seem like its a livable and affordable place. Hello!!! it's one of the most expensive cities in the world! this video is down right racist and full of misinformation & manipulation. We are funding and fueling the country and many of us have homes outside of Toronto with families. What I got from this video is Toronto NEEDS more housing and more and easier to access mental health support

So I’m an immigrant who arrived from Poland as a child. What made me quickly integrate and become Canadian was the absence of ethnic enclaves. I grew up in social housing, which sucked, but it was with a tonne of Portuguese, El Salvadorians, Colombians and a few Somalis in my hood. The thing is, there was no dominant group, and thus we all had to live together, communicate in English, and adopt universal values and lifestyles that all those groups had in common, rather than those of my home country. I feel these new generations won’t have that same experience.

Trading places film , I bet you $1 that we can get rich and put them in the poor house at the same time. Freemason Nazi campaign at work being self centered making money on applications \n We will end up like them , too many people not enough jobs and these immigrants don’t give a fork because they are miserable and want company even if you end up unemployed and they take your job its grand in their narcissistic eyes

BC is extremely expensive to live there. Average rent in Vancouver $2500 a month and that an average apartment nothing special. Even in surrounding areas like Abbotford, Mission fraservalley as it’s called Rents are very high. You won’t get a house under 1/2 million or more. But hey it is beautiful for sure

As a Canadian I don’t want to move to another country. I’m happy here but I have my house, my family, my job… I travel a lot, but home is here. My kids are young and I hope that in 15 years things will change for better. I love this country too much, with all the problems

Multiculturalism is amazing when it is truly balanced. Though when the percentage is overwhelmingly one group of people, you have issues like blatant discrimination. I have met many Blacks and Filipinos who complained about being denied employment and housing in Brampton because they were not brown.

many people are leaving because of the high cost of living, you could work a full-time job and can't afford the rent, the cheapest house in my city is $500,000, the mortgage is higher than your monthly income, also lack of employment. if you need urgent care then at least 8 hours wait and sometimes 12 hours with 3rd world country treatment.

Canada has gone from an absolutely amazing country where life was really good I to an absolute shit hole, where guns have become an issue, immigration has run riot, housing is totally unaffordable and prices on basic groceries a total joke! But as long as everyone can change their gender at will and we have those all important pronouns down, it’s was all worth it!

Notice how it’s always the educated, clean people who live in the nice neighborhoods that are always calm cool and collective, and all the people that live in low income housing areas all act like this other guy, loud obnoxious and can’t control their emotions. Controlling your emotions is the quickest way to read how developed that individual is. Because of intelligence, you never strike at everything that bothers you. That is why their success rate is always higher in life and they actually own things like boats, property, businesses etc.. and the other guy is always boring money and never pumps in a full tank.

Do they get housing incentives that make them more privileged than a Canadian like me with grandparents born in Canada?
|
| 2024-04-14 | 0 |
They have a formula: buy a franchise(subway), buy a house, sponsee young people by giving them housing and a job and then keep doing it over and over. The family across the street does it. They have moved to Brampton and own 3 (million + dollar)homes in Brampton and the immigration machine is still working in the house across the street.\nThe new immigrants have to pay their sponsee and work it off at the franchise. The people we know are good people but this could easily turn into slavery.

Brampton is full of Indian immigrants crowded in, and now Trudeau wants to dump over a million dollars into housing for Brampton. Seriously?? He wants to house the immigrants, not Canadian citizens.
