India is a global power and offers numerous benefits to Canada. In 2022, bilateral trade between Canada and India was valued at over $10 billion. Indian students contribute approximately $4 billion annually to the Canadian economy through tuition and living expenses. Additionally, they pay substantial taxes, including sales taxes, income taxes on part-time work, and other fees, further supporting our economy. Indian tech and healthcare workers are among the best in the world, driving innovation and progress in various industries. Many Indian students transition to become skilled tech and healthcare workers in Canada, contributing to our technology sector's growth and global competitiveness. Furthermore, notable wealthy Indians in Canada, such as Prem Watsa, CEO of Fairfax Financial Holdings, and Bob Dhillon, CEO of Mainstreet Equity Corp, have made significant contributions to the Canadian economy and society. also crucial to clarify that the Khalistan issue has nothing to do with India. that's part of Canadian politics

Nobody gives a two penny F to Canadian education. It’s sub par anyway. The unsaid deal has been simple - you pay, you stay. I’m not sure if staying in a sinking ship is a good idea but that’s a different story.\n\nI am not saying that the deal is good. But it’s fair, considering the absolute shit quality of these students as well as these colleges. And if this deal is broken, and if these “students” are thrown out, then the revenue and taxes that Canadians get will be thrown out as well. They know that well and that’s why they caved in. And who knows - maybe uncle Tim gave a call.\n\nI used to think Americans get shit immigrants from their stupid lottery system and Canadian point based system should work well for Canada and Canadians. But I don’t know how US is getting CEOs and Canada is getting plumbers who engage in drug running, human trafficking and international terrorism as side hustle.

Born and raised in Canada. 45 years old. Trudeau has completely destroyed Canada and had made life for Canadiens impossible! He is to blame with the liberals! the taxes, cost of living, lack of opportunities and lack of housing and everything coming along with it, Ex, backed up services/programs, lack of medical professionals/health care system, schools, congestion, crime, its all Trudeaus doing and I will debate ANYONE who believes otherwise!
2024-05-13 0
So high taxes, even more unafforable than the US, slow health care system(things we Americans have been saying for years),. Yeah, I will stay in the US and deal with our issues here.

Canadian Government's discriminatory actions towards the Chinese who were brought over to Canada to build their national railways in 1881-1884 and this graph proves this fact !\n1885-1900: 0485-4107 The Chinese Immigration Act invokes a $50 head tax on Chinese immigrants (equivalent to $1,576 in 2021)\n1900-1923 4107-38133 The Head Tax was increased to $500 (equivalent to $16,200 in 2021) equivalent to a two-year salary of an immigrant worker at that time !\n1923-1947 38133-29955 The Chinese Exclusion Act

The only broken part of this country………is a broken government that only wants to help them selves. A groverment that thinks nothing less of its citizens rights to live and enjoy life to the fullest. The government high taxes……..are killing most of all the middle to the lowest class of income. That’s the cost of voting for…………Liberal politicians, thinkers of DOOMED!

Why you guys just don't want to unite with the United States that will decrease some of you guys' taxes a lot and it makes sense you're mostly just Tundra

*shrugs* Canadian here. No interest in leaving, especially to the US of all places.\n\nI mean think that through. My income tax is around 17% of my income. My capital gains on investments is around 15%. I get free health care (which while obviously not free - is paid out of my taxes, yet isn't rationed or in-network restrictions, doesn't have copays and cover 90% of my medical needs). I have a government that even at its worst, is orders of magnitude more rational and public serving than the US (and god help you if Trump gets back in). Not to mention a country that doesn't literally have a major gun violence/mass shooting even EVERY FRICKING WEEK, unlike the US.\n\nAnd yes, I live in Metro Van and I have an 850 sq ft two bedroom apt I'm renting for $1250/mo - so maybe the problem isn't simply that the housing market is too tight (which it is), but that you've picked a city in high demand that's boxed in on four sides - ocean to the west, mountains to the north, US border to the south and what little farmland the lower mainland can sustain to the east. You could, of course, move elsewhere in Canada like Edmonton or Calgary, but yeah...not whiny enough, I guess.\n\nSorry, you're entitled to you views of course, but I can't help thinking most of your problems are self-inflicted... so yeah, move to the States.\n\nI'm SURE it'll work out better for you....

The Co2 scam (carbon taxes) is the root reason for most of these increases in prices. Until this insanity is reversed things will only get worse.

weird communist system and high taxes low jobs , systemic discrimination , unfriendly Canadian fake smile , that is canada for me oh i forgot racism

This is a global issue. It’s easy to just blame the government, it seems like the current government is serious about dealing with issues more than just cutting taxes for the rich.
2024-05-09 0
You forget to mention that the high skilled immigrants that go to Canada actually bring lots and lots of income taxes to Canada, as they occupy highly paid jobs that get the state 54% in taxes ?

What a joke, can’t wait for an opportunity abroad.\nNow people in this country will understand why Quebec has its own laws and regulations on protecting culture ,I will protest my culture as a Canadian and not learn a new third language, the law says French and English as the official languages of Canada. \nYou can’t let the government import or change a countries culture only cause it’s broke …..”oh well” guess I better start pitching my tent at the nearest overpass to let others inn for triple the price! so my government can get the taxes

This country does not need more immigrants. It's over spending by treason Trudeau over spending. Bring more immigrants in to tax on government over spending.

So if those Indians start taking drugs and go homeless like those Canadian-born junkies you talked to, that would mean integration and adapting to the new home's culture?! I'm neither Indian nor Canadian-born but c'mon! What's wrong if those Indians listen to their parents who advised them to go to college, get a degree and and then get good job while those Canadian-born white parents told their kids do whatever that pleases you and become what makes you happy? And here they are: adicted and homeless living on taxes paid by hard working people like Indians. I'm Iranian-born but I saw a lot of hard working Indians and who cares if they want to live the way they want? And honestly it's none of anyone's business. It's a free country and you can't ask a Sikh to remove his turban or a hindu to stop going to his temple. Instead why not white people try to teach their kids the value of education and learning new skills so that they won't turn to junkies and homeless in their 60s relying on churches to feed them?!

How many people are writing their government weekly about #ubi now? Going to town halls and speaking out about #ubi? How many people really care about others besides themselves? There are single working self employed people who live minimally but are expected to pay way higher taxes than those with family getting many subsidies for having more kids. Universal basic income us a human right. All yoir basic shelter food transport health and dental should be all included in a human right, but everyone is doing little to pressure the government on these basic points. Instead shout about owning a home, when renters are constantly forced out due to renovictions daily. Ubi now please. Keep writing your members!

I think is importing to know USA is funding the war at Gaza ISA send proximately 3.3 billion tax payers money to Israel to fund the war, that money could’ve been used to improve America

Literally the same model as the UK and most of Europe. \nIncrease beurocracy, increase tax, increase immigration to prop up the failing government GDP\n\nThe only western country to see an increase in GDP per capita is the USA and maybe Australia because they still have industry and haven't sold all their resources to China yet.

House prices are out of control all around the world, regardless of whatever political party is in power. The ultra rich have hijacked the Canadian dream. Tax, the rich or eat the rich.Fuck The Rich

What about Taxes? Capital gains, sales, incopme etc. and access to health and transit. So glad I left.

The outsiders are always an easy target and I presume this is what the prior waves of immigrants like Irish, Italians & Polish faced in North America. While I am a proponent of people whole-heartedly embracing the culture of the place they immigrate to, racist insinuations do harm to the whole society. Most people moving to Brampton in fact create more jobs (Doctors, Teachers, Barbers, Homebuilders, etc.) and increase the tax base for the benefit of all. This is why US & Europe are miles ahead of Japan, Russia & Europe that are not as welcoming towards immigrants.

This video is a load of crap. People want to live in cities that is why it is expensive. It is that way all over the world. I just sold my mom’s 3 bedroom house for 27,000 in small town Saskatchewan. Took 2 years to sell because no one wants to live in a small town. The utilities and taxes come to only 3,000 a year. As for grocery prices i just came back from a trip to the USA and checked their grocery stores. Their prices are the same or higher and in US dollars.

Canadians pay more for gas because they drive insane distances and because the oil industry is the master of collusion and manipulation. Carbon pricing and gasoline taxes remain a negligible in rising cost of living.
2024-05-07 0
The thing I hate is people assuming that a change to the conservatives will fix all those problems, but looking at the past, conservatives bring more of the same while removing rights for minority groups and women. It's so sad to always have to vote for the lesser evil. Legit just want a party that gets in power, raises the minimum and tax the rich based on their assets instead of the money they hide away in offshore accounts or shares.

The rich immigrants and companies should pay our taxes and the people that are born here do not! Axe ? the taxes!

It’s a shit hole. Full of corrupt politicians and cops From top to bottom. We are taxed to death every day Thanks Canada I have closed me small business and moving south

One last thing I forgot to put in my original comment we pay 15% tax. Nova Scotia is the highest taxed province in the country.

in the country i live in, government takes 50% of your money via labor tax(and such) and consumer goods tax\n\ni didn't even account for communal taxes etc...\n\nit's all debt driven world wide...no country fully controls it's monetary system, therefore it's not their money, therefore we have to go in debt in order to even have money to begin with
2024-05-06 0
Most immigrants are staying 3-5 years for citizenship because just like Canadians they realized that by living just across the border they will get paid better with less taxes, better prices and housing and weather. It's just insane that a huge rich country filled with resources for construction and agriculture can't afford basic housing or affordability for its citizens
2024-05-06 0
Oh that’s an easy one. Health care sucks, everything costs too much, the govt takes too much tax…over 50% of my bonus cmon govt you did nothing to earn it. Quebec has way too much power. Politicians are all corrupt….and so on and so on and so on

I’ve been in Canada for over 24 years and I have never seen it like this in my life!\nThe main cause of the majority of issues is the housing crisis.\n\nWhat a lot of you might not be aware of is that we have not been building homes to keep up with the demand for over two decades. That’s why the price for housing has increased astronomically. And then our government decided to basically allow unfettered immigration in order to take advantage of the new immigrants’ money so they can use it to fund the Canadian Pension Plan.\n\nJust an FYI, the way CPP is funded is that the current group of working people are paying for the current group of retired seniors. And due to the lack of childbirths and people living longer, the CPP can no longer afford to take care of all the seniors in its system. Thus, the government devised a plan to have more people coming here so as to milk the money they have. Actually, they’ve even gone to the extent to basically allow seniors to be willingly euthanized… it’s absolutely bonkers.\n\nBut anyway, I digress… so then with housing at astronomical prices, you’re now pushing out the poor people onto the streets, causing homelessness. \n\nAnd when people are homeless, the average person will do drugs to escape reality and commit crimes to survive. Which is why it’s now increasingly dangerous in public spaces. \n\nThen, the transportation also never accounted for such a massive increase in population. At least not in Toronto. Which is also causing major inconvenience to go anywhere. \n\nIt used to be that if you lived in the suburbs, you could drive into Toronto pretty quickly but now, it takes like an hour and a half to two hours, making it extremely difficult to get around. And also, hard to take advantage of the “lower” housing prices in the suburbs.\n\nBut that’s not all. Part of the issue is that the Trudeau government wants to no longer have Canada use our oil and gas overnight, which is causing the increase in gas prices. Many Canadians still rely on gas because electric cars are not efficient in Canadian weather and are simply too expensive for your average person. And yet they cut off our supply of oil and gas which causes the price inflation of transport and anything that requires to be moved such as groceries and supplies.\n\nAnd don’t get me started on how our healthcare system is falling apart… even though we pay some of the highest taxes in the world…
2024-05-06 0
As much as I don’t like the guy, it’s misguided saying it’s only Trudeau. Is he the solution? Not likely, but it’s a start. The issue is accountability from the provincial governments who have low voter turnout, and are allergic to investing in diversified transportation or fixing housing, or immigration laws, and taxing rich people more and god forbid they update their labour and health system. So much of these issues were present for years before he was elected, because the country just voted to get out of the recession and cut a ridiculous amount of funding. The Harper years were terrible, people forget that. He wanted to ban abortions. That’s the future his party wants. I think they need a coalition government, badly and to turn it on the provinces to come up with plans before asking for money.

What no one talks about is that the Land transfer tax is charged every single time a house is sold regardless of how many times the same house is sold in a year or 10 year, it is charged every single time. So the price goes up the moment you get your keys. If the government gets rid of the land transfer tax the prices wont increase as fast. The government will never talk about that because they make a killing our of land trasfer taxes. Especially in ontario and cities like vancouver and toronto. Yet they claim to be broke all the time

Canada is the safety deposit box for China & Canada's military is America's backup. The government are faciliting hard drugs via tax payers who are starving & some are actually homeless. Canada has been intentionally fucked.

Stop all temporary workers from everywhere. Make the law that no cash payment to anyone working in Canada. There are millions of RICH IMMIGRANTS who are not working but taking SOCIAL ASSISTANT AND DEFRAUDING THE TAX PAYER MONEY, SPECIALLY IN ONTARIO.
2024-05-05 0
Sad to see white nationalism spreading to Canada, especially considering that unlike the US, these people immigrated legally and pay taxes. And on the tax/homeless point, why don't you put a bit more pressure on the billionaires who store their money offshore rather than picking on these working people?
2024-05-04 0
Me I want to live in montreal, QC because, the city has a cheap taxes and it is more affordable to go there
2024-05-04 0
In Canada, the major centers are too expensive. However, Canada is one of the easier countries for foreigners to come in and stay long term and make a decent living, especially from countries like the Philippines and India. If they are highly skilled though, there are better opportunities. Just don't talk about homelessness and say it is one of the reasons no to come to Canada from the Philippines. Homeless and slums are quite prevalent all over the Philippines. Taxes however are ridiculously high in Canada - but this socialist slant is not going anywhere anytime soon.

I bet another reason the government would rather have rentals is they usually pay twice the property taxes that homeowners do. That can amount to tens of thousands a year difference in tax revenue for each and every property on a street. Sad but true.....\nStill I have to agree with the high immigration numbers. It seems I've always had a general idea of what a Canadian looks like but the past years I'm regularly seeing people that look Chinese, Indian, African, Arab.... all kinds of ethnic looks calling themselves Canadian. Of course god bless diversity it is the commandment of god herself here in the U.S. but its something to get used to!

When it comes to inflation and tax hikes, the UK isn't playing a game of catch-up with Canada and Australia, it's running neck and neck.

Most of what was reported here is true but the housing market and rents have skyrocketed all over the world since the Chinese government F'd everyone with Covid-19. At first there were supply chain issues with all goods so businesses said we have to increase prices. Once supply issues were back to pre-Covid-19 levels businesses did not & will not lower their prices on goods because , we as a society do not take matters into our own hands and boycott products\\company's etc. Now obviously we cannot boycott all goods & services but the majority we could and that is the only thing that would cause action among companies to lower bank fees, fast food prices, grocery prices, cell plan costs etc.\n\nWith that said, you picked two of the highest and most sought after city's in CAN to rent & or try to buy a home. Although rent & home prices have really jumped all over the world in the past 3-4 years, more affordable (still not cheap) housing, compared to Toronto, Vancouver, can be found all across CAN. My sister & brother in law found an apartment to rent in Winnipeg without any difficulty or waiting. \nThey are immigrants and entered on her student Visa & he is a computer programmer. They are not struggling to eat but they have to follow a tight budget since she cannot work but 20 hours a week as a student and they have 1 kid, a car payment, utilities, cell plan, etc. They have filed for their PR and I suspect they will be approved since his job is in demand and she will graduate from College there in 4 months or so.\n\nOne thing I noticed, when my wife & I went up to get them settled in, is that the government (national & local) taxes you all pay out of the wazzoo on everything! I think the only thing that wasn't taxed was air. ? I know most of this is due to the healthcare system, because the money has to come from somewhere. Don't misunderstand, I like the CAN healthcare system better than the US's, because the insurance companies stick it to us as well, but both have their pluses and minuses.\n\nCAN does have a much easier system for immigration. If my sister & bro in law could have come here we would have been glad for them to stay with us and help them get started but the backlog is just so long to wait (10 + years). I also LOVE CAN because you uphold your laws and DEPORT illegal immigrants instead of letting them pour into the Country, by the millions each year, and the majority eventually trickle into the population illegally, who get jobs & pay no taxes (other than sales tax) no driver's licenses or vehicle insurance and get 100% free medical and hospital care anytime while legal US citizen's pay high premiums, into social security and their income taxes each year.

I think hockey players have a 30% higher income tax than any other occupation. Nobody in their right mind would want to play for a Canadian team. So, clearly, Mitch Marner and John Tavares are out of their gordes, becaue they actually wanted to play for the Queefs, er, I mean, Leafs.
2024-05-04 0
For long term it simply doesn't work. High taxes and impossible to buy a house. Moving to US after 2 years in Canada.

If they pay taxes, I've no issues whatsoever.
