As an American citizen I stand with Canada ?? and not Donald J Trump!

I fear so much for my wonderful Canadian and American friends. Having visited both countries specifically New York in the US, Nova Scotia and Ontario in Canada, my heart is breaking for them. I stand with Canada, Ukraine, and pray for my American friends' safety as well. From Penzance, Cornwall, UK.

Another American and 22 year Air Force veteran here, who stands by Canada and Mexico. This is idiotic and I am completely embarassed by Trump, everyone who voted for him and the sycophants who continue to support him. Unfortunately they cannot be reasoned with.

My heart hurts watching this. As an American, I respect and agree with Prime Minister Trudeau. Canada has been a kind and generous ally, and our current government leaders are just coming up with excuses for this stupid ass trade war. \n\nI am so sorry to all the Canadian citizens whom this negatively impacts. I hope you will show grace to those of us who voted against Trump and who continue to stand up to this tyrant.

As a Minnesotan, I feel as if I’m almost as Canadian as American and proud to say so. Our present sitting president and buffoon unelected sidekick Musk are creating chaos everywhere for the sake of billionaire donors and supporters. Absolutely none of what Trump/Musk has done and plans to continue to do is beneficial to a single non-wealthy American and these actions will harm his personal voters (of which I’ve never been one!) the most. Trump cares not. Pervasive narcissistic sociopathy is not curable! Stand strong Canada! We’re trying mightily to defeat this insanity here in the USA! 74 million people did not vote for any of this harm and destruction and outright cruelty!

I don't care what side of the fence you sit on. I did not need to hear this man speak to already know Canada was, but may yet be, our greatest ally and trading partner. I have no idea what possessed Mr. Trump to decide to stab our allies in the back, but it was not something good. 27.5% of voting age adults voted for him. How many of them were serenaded by hollow promises and a good slogan. Perhaps all of the mud slinging and Russian media interference helped? If you add in our more studious teenagers, truly reformed felons, and immigrants who actually deserve a gold card, that number plummets to less than 25%. I won't ask people to wake up, if you are reading this you are already more than capable of finding out that I speak only the hard truth. This means less than a quarter of america wanted this. This means your vote and opinions DO count. I know it is incredibly difficult to reach for and find answers in a world where your president or primary candidate throws 'fake news' in your face on a regular basis. He is actually telling the truth. When he is not telling you is that he is a primary enabler of 'fake news'. To him, only his word is law, only his opinion matters, only he deserves to be on top, and he deserves authority over all of your lives. Do the right thing, we all have a civil duty to understand our candidates to the very best of our ability. When a man has been convicted of dozens of felonies, and we tell you that this is only what we were willing to expose. You may want start believing us. The genuine facts of his past are unilaterally corrupting to our children and good people alike. Do not let the american people repeat their mistakes, force Mr. Trump to atone for his mistakes. No not empower him to sweep them under the rug for the sake of his own arrogance, because that is exactly what he is doing by trying to dismantle the CIA and FBI. These two institutions are shining examples of America's pursuit of freedom and justice. Freedom to keep billionaires from corrupting the morals of our children. Freedom to know that the rule of law is immutable, our constitution is not just a paper with fancy traditional sentiment. Even if the law may sometimes be bent for the sake of decency, forgiveness, and the pursuit of 'united we stand', our constitution cannot. Amendments require the FULL support of nearly all Americans, not 27.5% of unrestricted adults.

Canadian here. Trudeau, well said and I hope the other global leaders stand up to Donald. To my American friends- it’s time you stand up and show your disapproval for the direction Donald is taking. This is and will be a significant set back in your security and the trust other countries have in America. Stand up, Speak up!

I'm sorry about this viscous & needless act! I'm an American & I understand completely why Canadian's are upset. I also understand why you're going to retaliate, if you didn't, then I'd question your leadership. Canada has to do what's right for its people and Americans will understand why Canada has to do whatever it has to do for its People and Country. Trump's plan to make Canada the 51st State is by putting economic pressure on Canada until it can't stand anymore. This is his plan and now you can prepare Canadians for the fight ahead. I have never felt more proud to be a Canadian, it’s a good feeling, I was almost brought to tears earlier thinking about it. And it’s interesting to note that it is overriding the fear of the consequences of Donald’s actions. Here’s where I can’t help but think of you, our fellow North Americans. The good people of the USA, I hold you in my heart. For you don’t have that boost that comes from feeling proud of your country. I can’t say I’ve ever known what that is like. It seems it would leave you gutted, and lost. Can you even describe the feeling, the experience? It has to be one of those things that you can’t know until you experience it. The pride in my country is keeping me going. My heart is crushed thinking that you do not have that. But you need to do everything you can to keep it. It’s what the Donald and his cronies are counting on. Unfortunately, he does not care about you. He wants to crush you. He does not care about America and what it stands for. He only cares about himself. If you do not have the fight that comes from being proud of your country, you guys are gonna be easy pickings. Do everything you can to find pride in your country.
