Canada has known for decades that we have put too many eggs in one basket - selling our resources primarily to the USA. We've had tariffs before and worked with them. Yet we still keep selling to the USA. This time is different. In conjunction with the tariffs, we have an American administration that is flat out insulting Canada. Saying we wouldn't exist economically if it wasn't for the USA. It's at a time when the USA won't promise not to use military force to annex land (Greenland) from a decades old ally. A time when clearly Putin is calling in his chips for whatever he has over Donald Trump. Canadians have had enough. We are directing our governments, provincial and federal, to finally, finally break from the north-south trade links. We need to establish stronger east-west trade links. The resources we have are wanted by many countries if the USA does not want them. It does mean much work within Canada. We need to get our AB-BC pipeline finished as well as the new sea terminal so we can ship our crude oil and natural gas to Japan and if need be, to China. We finally need to get out pipeline to the Atlantic coast finished so we can supply the UK and EU with our products. We need to double our rail capacity for shipping potash, uranium, rare minerals to Asia or Europe. Just as Trump hopes for a golden age of American companies coming home and building new plants in the USA, this will be a golden decade for Canada to create transportation corridors to get our resources to other buyers. America will have to look elsewhere for his raw materials. And we all know what that is - RUSSIA. They've already offered their rare minerals and crude oil. This is all clearly a well thought out scenario from the people working behind Trump to dismiss America's allies and trading partners - have us turn against the USA - as the excuse to open the door to Russian imports into the USA.

As a Canadian I’m still not clear on how counter tariffs help Canadians? Won’t this just make things more expensive for us? Shouldn’t we just realign our allies for imports/exports? We are all living in strange times! The bad guy (Putin) is defended like he’s the good guy and the victim (Zelensky) is criticized like he’s the aggressor. This is so weird and negative like an episode of the Twighlight Zone! I think I can understand how Trump is viewing things. Bill O’Reilly seems to know how Trump thinks. Nevertheless, things are upside down! USA voting at the UN with North Korea and Putin and Belarus and against the EU and UK and NATO alliance nations … against the victim Ukraine? This is unheard of! Yet this is so ironic because Leonid Brezhnev, who was the USSR leader, when Russia invaded the sovereign nation of Afghanistan, and Vladimir Putin was a young KGB agent at that time, working for Brezhnev, is now in his position as leader, and he invaded Brezhnev’s sovereign homeland of Ukraine. Brezhnev must be weeping from hell and regretting his invasion of Afghanistan! Crying from hell, seeing his servant, Putin, in his seat of authority, and invading his homeland like he did to Afghanistan, I’m sure Brezhnev regrets but it’s too late now. He’s burning in hell and he can’t get out of hell! \n\nThe bad deal that Clinton and Yeltson and John Major dealt to Ukraine in the 1990s when they moved all of her nuclear weapons to Russia was like declawing the Ukrainian cat and now the cat can’t defend herself against aggressors because she has no claws to defend herself from aggressive attackers!\n\nCanada and Mexico are our friends not our enemies! China and North Korea still idolize the USSR/CCCP flag and Soviet Union hammer and sickle. Putin is a thug and gangster like Joseph Stalin. Everyone forgot what happened to Alexander Litvinenko except for those like John Bolton. \n\nWe are all living in perilous times! The wrongdoer (Putin) is called good and the victim (Zelensky) is called bad! This is so negatively bizarre and wrong! Isaiah 5:20 warns against this! Putin is not pure evil but he’s definitely not a good guy! He’s a gangster and thug like Al Capone! I think President Trump is walking on a tight rope by trying to make a good deal with Putin. And that tight rope spans from one high rise building to another - the senate and house chambers of the US legislature. The midterms are coming soon and if President Trump loses the house and senate, that tight rope could snap! And all those shock and awe executive orders etc. could come back to haunt him like a boomerang thumping his head.\n\nNever in my wildest imagination would I ever imagine Canadians harboring bad feelings towards the USA! This is 180 degrees opposite of how things were when Ronald Reagan and Brian Mulroney were in the political arena!

Even though we as Americans might disagree with President Trump, we have to stand firm on some things here, the way PM Trudeau came on here and reversed this tariffs on the US after all we done with this is still an attack on us, we have to think broader and wider, I am a 22 year retired Navy vet and seen how these countries treat us and we have been taken advantage of, it’s time we stand firm. I love my Canadian brothers and sisters, but this more a government issue here.

Let's not forget how Trudeau and his party ruined our country in the last 4-8 years... It's like Canadians are already forgetting that and are praising him? Sure I get these steps against tariffs are in the right direction but this man still sickens me. Canada is not the same because of him and the liberal party. It's time for change.

If Trudeau had been strong and forceful on all our problems in the last 5 years, he would still be Prime Minister. i think he got caught up in his own self importance, instead of running our country for the good of it's people. I have wanted him out for the last 3 years, but todays speach to the US, Trump and the Canadian citizens showed a strength that i thought he didn't possess. he finally grew a set and it looked good on him. just saying it the way it is.

Canadians, just remember Trump won the election with 49.9% of the vote so 50.1% of American voters did not vote for him! Half of us Americans are still sane...

As an American who grew up in Canada, this saddens me to my core. I spent my whole childhood and into my 20s in Canada, and am really regretting ever leaving for this cesspool. I still have all of my family in Canada and I will always feel Canadian and will always stand by and fight for them ?❤️?
