I’m sorry that Trump is so unreasonable. Trump only cares about the income that will benefit the rich, himself and power. The tariffs will effects jobs and people. Trump is an embarrassment to most of the people here. Elon Musk help him win the election by paying people to vote for Trump which I think should be against the law. Trump is putting the USA in a very dangerous place. Most of us stand with Canada and Ukraine but no one can bring Trump to reason. I really think Trump is plain outride stupid. Please keep fighting for Canada.

Harris voter here, you gotta do what you gotta do Canada. I don't know if I will make it through this but there are people out there in worse situations with more overtly oppressive governments, so I can't complain too much. The only thing I can do is hope that the breaking point is soon where those of us who don't hold contempt for compassion and intellect rise up and show the government that we have had enough. Why is it that everyone outside of America has an expectation on how we should be that benefits them. This can has been kicked down the road for multiple decades. The waste, fraud, and abuse we are uncovering in the government. The situation with NATO and Ukraine and no one can fix their problems or issues without the US. We have aggressive homelessness, poverty, poor education system, high taxes, and a government that in the past has done nothing but pimp our tax dollars out just for kickbacks. You mention that Americans are 30% more expensive than Canadians but you dont mention that the US is far more unequal with a Gini coefficient of 0.41 vs 0.35 in Canada. Now there is also a known issue with using GDP data to calculate productivity and that is that in sme countries the labor of GDP is much lower than in others. You then end up with Irish productivity being the second highest in the world only because most large US corporations operating in the EU register there to pay lower taxes but most of that revenue is just on paper for Ireland. or with Guyana whose oil and mining revenue makes it productivity equal to that of the US. Maybe that is the case, but is it? and if so why is the average wage in Guyana so much lower? so choosing only one specific stat can make any point of view seem true. you have to look at the bigger picture.\nnow the issue is Canada has been getting more unequal but it is still much better than the US. so what it means is that the higher worker productivity in the US benefits corporations and billionaires far more than it benefits the average American. now if we compare cost of living say between NYC and Toronto:\nCost of Living in Toronto is 37.5% lower than in New York, NY (without rent) \nCost of Living Including Rent in Toronto is 47.1% lower than in New York, NY \nRent Prices in Toronto are 59.2% lower than in New York, NY \nRestaurant Prices in Toronto are 34.5% lower than in New York, NY \nGroceries Prices in Toronto are 33.0% lower than in New York, NY \nLocal Purchasing Power in Toronto is 7.2% higher than in New York, NY \nand this is similar when comparing almost all large Canadian cities with a comparable US one. And whilst housing and NIMBYIsm is real issue you have very similar issues in the US which also has almost no mix zoning. But throw in safety nets and go ask Canadians if they want to change for the US system. I doubt most will. Sure some want things to change but some assuming everyone wants an ultra capitalistic society. most are ok with less growth ut better balanced growth (the exact opposite of the boom and bust US model)

We just had an election in Ontario and basically nothing changed. Ontario has been one of the worst performing provinces in Canada for the majority of Doug Ford's mandate over Ontario but people seemingly don't care enough to want change. One of the major problems with Canada in terms of politics is that the aging population has some of the largest block of voters and can pretty much overrule anything that would benefit the younger generation if it would hurt their investments.

All joking aside, Canada has been able to form a symbiotic relationship of mutual benefit with the United States since even before NAFTA 1. But.......... right now it is almost like a 51st state and I do not mean that in a joking way. US states are always competing with each other, but what prevents things like, oh say the American Civil war from happening is the Federal apparatus keeps them in line for the good of the empire as a whole. \n\n If Canada is like a 51st state, then it is competing with the other 50 states in a way that all 50 of them are going to get upset about. So either the states complain, or you treat Canada as an economic competitor. Mexico being behind the United States and Canada is what makes it a good candidate for a symbiotic relationship. For all its problems, Mexico has a Christian population (with some indigenous traits) that goes well with America. Their nations different economic status means we can support them and they can support us doing different things for countries of different development stages.\n\nCanada being so similar to the United States will want that as well and will never outbid the United States. Again this is seen as a hostile economic competitor. \n\nIts not Canada or Americas fault. After 2007 and the lies about fanny and Freddie, leman bros, mortgage backed security's, and a cash shortage that was not real. How was it real if the offshore exchanges did nothing? 2007 was not financial in origin it was our global monetary system seizing up. To say Wall Street greed and MBSs did it would be like saying a single drop of cement turned the ocean to cement.\n\nBut something did. Do not feel sorry for Canada. I am Canadian. Canadians voted for the Liberal Socialist Government they have 3 times. The youth wanted marijuana legalized. Too little too late. Trudeau and previous governments have destroyed Canada. I doubt this country will recover. Unless we get a trump that enforces mass deportation and starts plane loads going home everyday the wages are destroyed now and skilled workers are already leaving the country. The majority of immigrants we are getting now are permanent generational welfare/child tax benefits and elderly immigrants now. Without actually requiring immigrants to have skills, speak the language, and work to support themselves Canada will be bankrupt soon enough.

Advise Canada! Screen them, turn away criminals, make them work for 2 yrs before receiving health benefits.

1/2 the population works, the youth can't move up economically, it promotes gig, contract, temporary, part-time, no benefits and the long term result is economic instability and citizens here can't afford to have families, have a life. . . People who work and live here and have their finances here, don't benefit the same way. They invited 1.2 million in one year alone and are backlogged over a year. What was this crazy government thinking? Projection is that 1/2 million people will be 'un' documented next year? And out of the 16-17 mi full-time jobs, probably less than half paying a living wage in 'Canada.' It's beyond stupidity, completely incomprehensible what our government has done. Pay Canadians full-time with proper benefits. The Canadian government sets a low benchmark for Canadians 'here.' and just keeps lowering it, not to mention, cash, bribes, kickbacks, and a blackmarket will emerge. They don't know what they're doing.

Pretty much all of Canada is like this. If you’re brown they’ll hate you for working hard and making an honest living. Meanwhile the locals will just apply govt benefits and play video games and blame indian immigrants for stealing their jobs, with this kind of hatred and bad attitude. As an educated immigrant, born into a family of educated immigrants, what has occurred in the last decade or so is not that. The floodgates were opened to just anyone, not under the rules and requirements of the past that kept Canada growing, at a calm pace, and with people that would benefit from Canada, but more importantly, they had something to offer in return.

Canadians are the MOST chill and accepting welcoming peaceful ppl known Worldwide for it throughout history! BUT!!!! We aren’t THAT polite when ppl come here from other countries and feel entitled to take full advantage of us for THEIR benefits with ZERO care or concern for the ppl who worked and paid into a system they’re now taking from without contributing a damn thing to it themselves!!!
