If Trudeau had been strong and forceful on all our problems in the last 5 years, he would still be Prime Minister. i think he got caught up in his own self importance, instead of running our country for the good of it's people. I have wanted him out for the last 3 years, but todays speach to the US, Trump and the Canadian citizens showed a strength that i thought he didn't possess. he finally grew a set and it looked good on him. just saying it the way it is.

Business say prices will increase. There are few who said they will absorb the cost (bravo). Business may raise prices but people will only buy essential goods. So both consumer and businesses will suffer.

Everybody says they are the friend of the US, until it's time to be fair. To the world, stop being a bunch of children... or don't. But if not, be prepared to suck it up. Be ready to back up your BS. Don't tell us what our government is doing to us, pay attention to what you are doing to us... and have been since the 1950s. Let us be crystal clear, you Canada, along with Europe and others have been enjoying your subsidized lifestyles off our backs. We are done and finally someone in the White House is hearing us. A Canadian here who can't agree with the disparaging comments about Trudeau. He has done more good than some earlier Prime Ministers. Enjoying the new free dental coverage he just established? I disagree with him here though when he says Canadians don't hold this tariff thing against Americans. WE DO! You're the ones who elected this wrecking ball who destroys everything (and everyone) he touches. I encourage all our Europeans friends to buy Canadian whenever possible.

37T in US debt. We’ve been unfairly treated the past 60 years from unfair trades from the world and Trump was the only President to say “enough”. What’s fair when US pays tariffs on goods but we can’t charge other countries. Let’s make trades fair. No more charities to the world paid for by US taxpayers.

1/2: Myself and the saner half of the US that read, understood, and voted against Proj 2025 understands why they need to levy retaliatory tariffs especially as a Michigander who's lived less than 4 hours from Canada all her life, who has family in Quebec and Ontario, and is a job-seeking policy professional and international trade nerd who now cannot in good faith seek a job in the federal government. We have been looking and still do look to Canada as a model quite a bit and love Canada and Canadians to pieces. We Michiganders especially in the central and eastern UP and Detroit and Ann Arbor area are friends, coworkers, and family of Canadians. Some are even dual citizens. It is sad that it's come to this. \n\n2/2: I still personally just can't wrap my head around how a trade deal Trump put together himself and called the best (the USMCA in question) is all of a sudden so bad. Logic doesn't work with these types of people... I really want **someone!!** to ask him/ admin officials about the USMCA **to their face** and see what they say because I am so upset by this nonsensical and corrupt administration.

Maybe he should discuss the constant duty fees and border crossing fees for anything shipped from Canada to the USA that have been constantly rising for years; fees that his very own government sets. Maybe he should talk about Canada demanding that anyone that sells anything foodwise to anyone in Canada from the USA has to have a special Safe Food For Canadians Food License or the goods being shipped will be rejected at the US owners cost, seized by the border and held in storage at the US owners cost, and destroyed and billed to the US owner. A license that no one actually needs considering other legal and ethical controls are in place to prevent unsafe foods from crossing the border, but Canada reserves the right to make us pay for one or we suffer consequences. Maybe he should discuss how they left their borders open to migrants, making it much easier for criminal migrants to get into the US. Maybe he should understand that the US has always been bleeding money to Canada on a trade level for about half a century with it getting much worse in the last decade because Canada's government are greedy. Before any of you come at me, keep in mind I work in the food ingredient industry as an order processing, logistics and customs & border crossing and have done so for 15 years. These tariffs were a long time coming and if any of you are on the inside of trade in the manner I am, then you know what I'm saying is true. The US is constantly paying additional tariffs by way of duty fees, customs fees, certain applied taxes (like there is literally a blueberry tax to ship US grown blueberries into Canada to prevent US blueberries from taking over the Canadian blueberry market). The blueberry tax is about 25cents per lb. which drives the price per lb. up for the seller and buyer. You wanna know why Food costs so much? All of the above with a huge side helping of GREED.

So basically Trudeau is saying Trump is imposing these tariffs for no reason? I doubt that, and look at how the so called allies are turning against the USA so easily. Good thing we don’t need them.

Agree with Trudeau here, and as a Canadian conservative, that’s not something I say easily. But let’s get real here. Trump is NOT a smart guy. He has cratered most businesses he’s started, he has no understanding of economics whatsoever and he speaks like a five-year old. Conversely, here in Canada and around the world (including many in the US who are voicing heir support here) we have A LOT of smart people and an enormous amount of good will, and we will persevere and overcome. Two very good sources now stating that the UK’s Starmer and Zelensky already made a secret partnership deal for Ukraine’s resources in exchange for a 100 year security agreement when Starmer went to Ukraine in January. No wonder Trump is saying cya and Starmer and Macron are now backing away. They can’t possibly fulfill that obligation. Wow.

Whether you agree with his politics or not, aTHIS IS HOW A TRUE LEADER deals with something that affects their country. He’s not screaming, crying, and throwing a tantrum while laying on the floor. Good for Canada! I say don’t cut off the power but put a 100% surcharge on it. Give the extra cash to your people to help with any negative financial issues they may face.

Well idk my market is going up very nice today. Also we can make every Canadian goods at home so that there is no weight to his words in my eyes. I do say if Canada is doing all these measures though it would be nice to come to an agreement with Canada. To be friends with neighbors is always better than not being friends. So overall I'm kinda torn between it all. We don't need Canada to be honest but just because we don't need them does not mean we should not work with them. Very tuff situation at this moment.

We have been asking for years. Take a good look at the city’s and the numbers of family’s kids and adults have died yearly from this.100,000s have died a year. It is also true that United States provide most of the security for all the free nations. At what point do we say enough? I do not know if Mexico or Canada has tariffs on US goods before this. But if they did, they have become quite entitled, haven’t they.
