I'm a born Canadian. I enjoyed growing up there on the lake. It was peaceful and beautiful. \nI joined a church and traveled alot in the country. I do love Canada as my place of birth and memories. \nThrough the church I married an American have been here 26 yr. Now. It has become so expensive there and too controlling. All my family is there so I think of them but I can't afford to buy anything there. I'm now married to Ghanaian considering moving there. I love the food and culture.

I couldn't agree with you more. Canada has become another one of those mindless Totalitarian states like American China, Russia, etc., etc. I spent 10 years in China working as a teacher. I went there because I was fed up in my country and when I returned it was worse than when I left. As I am now 68, if I can afford to leave again I will and I'll never return again. I told the Chinese who knew me I was returning because I missed the land, but I never really missed the people. Now that I'm back, since Jan. 2022, I want to leave again and I will and Never return. Health care in this country is in the Sh*t-house, it's impossible to get a family Dr. In part I returned for medical reasons, but now would rather die than have to deal the the Canadian medical bureaucracy - REALLY !!! So, trust me when I say I both understand you and agree with you.\nCanada has become a Sh*t-Hole treating both immigrants and Canadians like sh*t. I'll be glad to go once I can. North America, because of Canada and the US are going to hell in a hand basket. Both countries are FCUKed and I don't want to be a party to their descent into hell. The End.

How discouraging to hear you and even after I read the comments about Canada ,,, I'm French Canadian but have lived in Australia for over 35 yrs , since 1982 ,,, now I'm divorced , and no family here ,, feeling very homesick and missing my family back home ,,, I'm 71 yrs old now ,, and I would like to return to Ottawa to live where I grew up, but listening to all of you ,, and to see how bad Canada became ,, just makes my heart cry ,,, what am I to do ,,, now ,, even though I'm part of a church group ,, but they are not even friends , just acquaintances , ,, and have no family here , my children live in Ottawa as well,, even though I've checked out many things in Ottawa about finances and rentals for seniors , to prepare myself for what I'm up against ,, , and that's another thing , I'm on the pension ,, and my health is starting to make me weaker in many ways ,,, anyway , listening to all these info ,, I really feel scared and so alone ,,, I suppose I could give my life totally to God , and forget about my family and everything ,, since I can see that if I do return to Ottawa ,, my life will be a worse living hell than here ,, ,what would you do knowing all this info ,, where can I go ,, nowhere it would seem ,, God help me ,,, and show me the way ,,, I have nowhere to go,

As an Immigrant of more than 25 years- I relate ???\nit’s HARD!!!!!!\nBut when you build a family here with Canadian grandchildren - I’d rather be here than in South Africa - the land of of our forefathers and birth! \nBut now with draconian Covid measures - I’m starting to wonder where to go next…..?

Many leave their own country, and come to Canada BECAUSE of their dislikes; extremism, culture, religion, laws, identity and in some cases backwards thinking; attempt to turn what we in society would consider as sexist, and discriminatory in some examples….\n\n…however when those same individuals finally achieve citizenship, or in some cases this starts (attempt to change Canadian law(s)) before obtaining citizenship, making moves to force the above, everything they despised, hated or disliked about their own country, into this new country ? Its like, the expectation is that we assimilate to them, not that they assimilate to their new chosen country??\n\nIt appears in some cases, going as far as attempting to rationalize why the the very thing they left their own country for, should now be a part of or have a place in Canadian society….where in any place in the World does this happen? Would it happen? Can you imagine, if I were a guest in someone else’s home, being invited over for dinner, but they had rules…like taking off your shoes when entering their home…or demanded they change their menu that they worked hard making for me to eat..or that I do not put my feet up in the coffee table or furniture…but I said, screw that, I don’t agree with their rules..I’m just going to do what I want! What would be the outcome do you think if I were to disrespect their rules?\n\nWhen Canadians have the audacity to say NO, we’re not interested in adopting …the rules/laws of the country they just abandoned…we’re now somehow insulted, or angered the guest? …the same Canada that has welcomed, provided safety, roof over their heads, food on the table, an education for their children, and provided access to our medical (albeit far from perfect) infrastructure.\n\nTo stomp their feet, bang their fist on the table when discovered that it’s expected to take four years of your life to become a doctor (which btw if you’re smart enough to become a doctor, you should be smart enough to of researched the expectations, PRIOR to coming to Canada) in the Country that YOU have chosen to spend the rest of their lives in, to have to work in a job to help support you and your families transitions,…imho, is NOT an unreasonable ask….that 4-5 years of their next 40-50+ ? Well, if that is considered a hardship, then maybe they need to rethink their intent. I like how y’all have created this video by not applying a negative undertone rather more of an informative approach to caution prospective movers of what potentially awaits them. All I would like to highlight is the fact that some people will experience all these points as negative aspects or maybe even one or two that might lead to the breaking point.\nIt all depends on where you come from and how life was in your “home” country.\nYou might come from a higher tax environment with non existent healthcare and education. From that perspective, 40% taxes might look better and the healthcare might be great or crap depending on what your health issues are. I personally haven’t had any struggles with most of these aspects - finding a great job was relatively easier, (key word - relatively) the healthcare system worked for me when I needed it to, I was mentally prepared for the high taxes, I culturally adapted to the point where people thought I was Canadian and didn’t realize I came in from a very different environment. I’m sure this cultural adaptation helped me with my job and made it easier to live here.\nAll in all, you can say I’ve had the “perfect” immigrant experience that most people would dream of. But what do i think really? Personally, I have come to realize that Canada at the moment does not fit into my personal goals and values and that is okay. Loneliness away from people you love can be tough. It just isn’t the same feeling making new friends and hanging out with coworkers who are much older than you are and in a different place in life. I’m very close to my family and friends who I’ve grown up with and are on the other side of the world. My parents are getting older and I want to spend as much time with them as possible. For that reason, I might consider being somewhere closer to them. I’d perhaps consider coming back here some day when I’ve got my own family and kids which I currently don’t have. To me, that’s a personal value high on the list. I guess my only takeaway from this video and advise to people looking at each of these points - take each one and compare it with your home country. If you think you’re better off in Canada, then move - it’s a great place! If not, think about it real hard and weigh out the pros and cons.

I’m a tech professional from INDIA. Carrying 3+ years of experience working for Top MNC. Since there’s a lot of competition for on-site opportunity, I’m planning to leave my job and Move to Canadian for a job search. However, one thing is pulling me, 40% tax is not a small thing. I thought I could spend 50% of my income and send other 50% to my family but seems like it doesn’t work the way I thought. Still I don’t want to step back without giving a try. I’m a Canadian Citizen through my parent since age 5 years old and has lived in Canada almost of my life getting tired of how the system worked, deep down it’s like socialism system through the world it’s a greater country to visit but to live and raise your family it’s really a struggle almost in any aspects of area . Even though I’m working as a nursing field I realized Canada it’s really tough on work employment really discrimination etc….I’m here in USA so much freedom and life seems much decent living as long you know how to narrow it and live a peaceful life . Tremendously happy indeed to another country as ?????❤️

Nothing against Canada and Canadians. But I left Canada after living there for almost 10 years because I never felt home living there and I was unhappy. You can live 50 years in Canada and get the Canadian citizenship but you will not be Canadian as your soul doesn't belong there. Your culture, language, family and everything is not part of Canadian culture. I missed Japan so bad that I gave up every thing that I had, sold my small condo and went back to my home country. Now I feel that I'm at the place where I belong and never should have left.

I’m Canadian born but mums family is from Europe. \n\nIt’s seems like not a lot has changed since the 1960’s my grandfather had trouble finding a job for a while due to not having Canadian experience. \n\nIt took my friends 7years to become citizens here. As a born Canadian. They had to go back to school. Unless you are in the medical profession I don’t see why you have to go back to school. \n\nMost of our health care does come from taxes yes I can’t tell you how great it is that I don’t have to pay $80,000 per surgery. I have 17 over my life. In other places in the world that would make me homeless. \nBut the dental care has cost me a lot because of my condition. But even for me that is a fair trade off. (I rather drugs, dental would be covered) \n\nTaxes also include subsided things for the public, libraries, roads that fixed, reduced fares for public transportation, reduced health cost for low income families that’s not covered by the government. etc. Not all great but the health care coverage is great to not have to pay in full. I only pay $6000 in taxes at most a year. I have a low income. The more you make the more they will tax you because it helps get the services for everyone. That’s why you are taxed more if you make more.

I love Canadians, I went there in 2018 for a friends wedding and you guys are beautiful!\n\nI mean I’m from australia ?? and the big difference is the US is overly Agro when my family went over the border to up state New York I got verbally abused by a US border guard as I was parking my car and asked in nasty way, I had to put him in his place most of the time. \n\nAll in all I love Toronto and the small town of Renfrew where the wedding was held.

Great video! Reminded me of when I immigrated to Canada 21 years ago with 8 years of back home experience, still I had to wait for 5 long years during which I went to school twice to get into my field here, and countless times thought about moving back, but once stepped into my field here those thoughts went away. Speaking of taxes, I don't read my pay stubs in much detail, I'm happy as long as I'm able to pay my bills. Canadian Healthcare system doesn't pamper too much, but it's a great blessing in serious emergencies, I and my family experienced several times getting health services worth of several thousands of dollars and ending up paying nothing, so can't complain. At the end Canada is a great country and a great place to live!

I'm scared that my brother's family will experience this he's family is in BC, Canada. I thought that canadian people are nice but after seeing this, i'm convinced that every country have this kind of man.

I'm calling bs. I grew up in Scarborough, the schools in my area were mixed Caribbean, Canadian, European, Indian (and other South asain), Chinese (and other East Asian), middle Eastern, African, Latino, everyone went to the same school. Everyone's families were and are poor going through the same struggle. By the time I got to highschool I took the higher level courses, I went to class everyday, I wasn't a smart kid I didn't get to uni, I took a bridging program in college and got into uni. It's not hard to climb the latter in Canada if you work for it. Meanwhile at the same school a large percentage of Carribean and Somalian black students do not go to class, they skip, they dont care. In fact these same kids picked and made fun of the Asian kids that did go to school. They have zero respect imo. You can call me whatever you want I am just speaking my personal experience. School never seemed like a priority to them. I'm not Chinese or Indian but those 2 cultures always seemed like the hardest working. Those kids went to every class and got the best grades. Again Caribbean and Somalian black students in my area were more likely to be distruptive in class and get into fights. As were Greek kids and Canadian/Irish white kids. I am only pointing out the black students in relation to this video. Personal accountability is important, I don't disagree there is problems with the system but let's not act like there isn't a problem within black and even poor white culture itself. Sometimes you have to look in the mirror.

Hello, I just watched your video. Three years after you made it. I hope you are still with us and a very belated Welcome. Many people throughout the world seem to have so many stereotypes about Americans. Whether it is good or bad there typically is some truth in a stereotype. Overall it seems like you are enjoying yourself and no matter what there is no place like home. I would think no matter what your current situation is you still miss Canada as I would miss the United States if I were to move to Canada. \nA couple things you mentioned in the video were not correct and as with anything there may be a little truth in the matter but yet still incorrect.\nThose who do not have health insurance are not charged or taxed $150 monthly. There is a provision in the affordable care act (ACA) that penalizes certain individuals who make above a certain dollar amount. The amount is either $150 or $300 for the entire year. I concur any monetary penalty against anyone for not having health insurance is outrageous. I could be wrong but I believe this aspect of the ACA was never implemented under President Obama and it was indefinitely suspended or revoked by President Trump. I also feel like I need to address your thoughts about the United States all about war. I believe the American people are like most other people and want peace and civility. The government and major defense contractors have differing opinions at times. Of course there is plenty of people who are war hawks but they are in the minority. Most of us are absolutely sick of war. We currently have been at war for almost 19 years. That's six complete world war 2's in their entirety. \nI think you were being awfully generous when you said obesity is on par with the rest of the world!! Unfortunately there is far to many fat people here and the problem is only getting worse because the media says be happy and proud you are fat. Celebrating obesity is absolutely insane and it sends the wrong message to young people. If a close one is fat of course I love them but I also tell them privately that they are a walking heart attack. It's more than OK to accept someone the way they are but as a friend or family member you doing them a disservice by not mentioning their obesity. \nI'm sorry if you feel I'm being to harsh or critical. Moving to Vancouver was a great experience tbh, I'm of nigerian heritage but was born in Finchley, North London...\nCanadians are friendly and extremely welcoming ( Coming from the UK i found this so off-putting ) lol. Ironically its non-white Canadians i had funny experiences with.... from dating to renting its weird\n\n\nAsians under 27 always asking some crazy questions ( Are you an NBA player ) lol it's cute at first but after a while when little koreans walk up to me talking about ( You look like will smith ) it makes you think... To be fair these are not inherent negatives, But asian canadians alone did treat me weird i found, Indian girls i met all wanted to be with me but where also very ashamed to say so or let their family know, but thats a cultural thing so i understood.\n\n\n Of all the demographics White canadian and native men where the most welcoming and open to me, in my experience.. White women of-course where cool too but that does not really count, especially as a good looking black guy with an accent LOOL you know how that goes!! My Tinder and Bumble were obscene LMAO\n\nRenting from asians while black and Male!? is almost impossible!!! Except they think you have rich parents!! Its impossible in Van unless you are an Arab exchange student lol \nArab and Persian students studying english have no issues renting in Vancouver, for some reason!!\n\nI lived out the St. Regis downtown for a month, Looking for places to rent, i had seen so many places online and filled out applications but never got call backs, asides from 2 group showings i went to, i could not even set up a viewing with the apartment building i wanted... \n\nTill i met an african girl in school, and she told me something i found completely crazy.\nShe told me to make a new e-mail addy and to use my English name when i e-mail, then set up a viewing but to show up with a white friend preferably a girl and that if the owner is asian, i should look around, and offer to pay 6months upfront before they get a chance to ask what i did for work or whether i was a student or not LOL. Needless to say, i did what she said and It worked the asian lady asked me to come get the keys later that day. Its just life, as a property owner they really just wanna size you up, not fair and kind of pathetic but its not inherently evil...

I'm Canadian and Prime Minister Trudeau is a snake. No one I know wants illegal immigrants here. We also don't want asylum seekers who are here to milk the tax payer. There was a recent local story of a Muslim family of ten from the middle east where the women just had her eleventh born here locally. The Canadian government pays $300 per kid, you do the math.

I remember when my family immigrated here over 15+ years ago and my brother was only 1 years old. 2 weeks after coming here he slipped on the floor and cut open his forehead on the hinges of our door and he was bleeding everywhere (he later had to get 6 stitches to fix it), my father was out working and we didn't know how to contact the police or hospital because we didn't have a home phone yet. We used our neighbors and the ambulance came and I strictly remember that because we didn't have our health cards yet they wouldn't start work even though my father said he will pay when he gets there. I remember my mother and I feeling helpless while my 1 year old brother was bleeding out (the hospital staff tried to stop the bleeding with cotton ball and bandage) and I distinctly remember that they did not start helping my brother even WHILE my father was paying but only started work after the bill was completed. Even though my family felt helpless at that time and we felt it was unfair, we never blamed Canada because it was their policy and they have every right to follow protocols. So it makes me angry to see people who walked into our country illegally getting far better treatment than my family ever got even though it might not be anything as life threatening as ours was. It makes me angry that our hard earned tax dollars are used to help people who have no motivation to help the country that gave them asylum during war.. It's actually the opposite as a lot of these families call their free housing "disgusting" and compare it to "living like a slave". I'm angry because little girls at my brothers own school are getting shoved and assaulted by refugee boys as young as 6-7 and are let off with a simple "don't do that again" and a meeting with the parents. This is not the Canada my family came to love and call home so I can't imagine the hardships of Canadians who are living here for 3, 4, 5+ generations 😔😔

I grew up in BRAMALEA, now incorporated with Brampton. BRAMALEA was an idyllic community made up primarily of Brits, European, and African-Canadians. Then Justin’s Dad (Pierre) opened the floodgates of immigration in the ‘70’s to ensure his re-election while transforming Canada into a Socialist Society (Socialized “Free” Health Care paid for by mammoth taxes on the middle class) while promoting “Multiculturalism” as the new Canadian Utopia. In his later years, while close to death, Pierre declared that “Multiculturalism DOESN’T WORK!” And, guess what? Neither does “Free” Healthcare!” As each culture swelled, they felt as though they didn’t need to assimilate. When I return to Canada/Brampton to visit family, I’m disgusted! The Indian residents (who Now comprise about 90% of BRAMLADESH’s population) do NOT look after their housing/property. The older/original neighborhoods where I grew up (well-cared for homes with manicured lawns, lush green-belts with pathways connecting neighborhoods and parks) now borders on slum-like conditions. It’s sad and downright depressing when I visit. All of my high school friends have fled the dilapidated area, and no wonder! Canada’s lax immigration laws, failed “Multiculturalism” and Socialist welfare system have all destroyed Canadian culture AND their middle class (strangled by immense taxation). I was fortunate to have grown up in the BRAMALEA of old, but I am so blessed to have escaped when I did! ??

By these comments, Canadians hate immigrants even more than American white supremacists. This man is scared for himself and his family. His case is just ignorance. He doesn’t know the proper ways to go about it. Him getting a lawyer and what not has showed he’s a bit smarter than many immigrants seeking asylum but most cases people don’t know the proper way to migrate out of their countries. They just know that there are better and safer opportunities elsewhere. As for everyone whining about why he doesn’t speak English, not EVERYONE CAN LEARN AT THE SAME PACE. There’s people that live in other countries for years and only know enough to get around and then theres people that just pick up on languages In less than a year. The language doesn’t matter. I’m sure he knows enough to communicate with people. I’m more surprised at the amount of people that law this and law that. Yes there are laws that should be followed but do people even consider morality? I hope none of you alls countries go to war or are over taken and you have to try to seek asylum in another country because I highly doubt you all would escape the ‘proper’ way. Most of you in the comments are sick and sad and will never truly understand the despair these people feel until you’re put in their position. I’m not Canadian, so I don’t have as much of an understanding of their process; however, much like in the U.S., you have to have a legitimate and compelling reason to seek asylum, for example, those escaping a literal war in Syria where death was imminent. Not that I don’t have compassion for this man wanting to better his life and that of his family, but seeking asylum from El Salvador because they have a lackluster economy, crime and violence (while a good enough reason to relocate elsewhere) isn’t a case for asylum. *shrug* Asylum is meant for exigencies, emergencies, imminent danger, which doesn’t look like it applies here. My guess is this man thought seeking asylum would be a way to go around needing expensive documents to do a standard immigration and the process flopped on him.

I'll lay it out for you: Me: typical middle of the road liberal oriented Canadian. Non white, immigrant (I wasnt born here) I worked in a Refugee housing for over 4 years in Ontario. Most were not war areas refugees (Yes I know there are other types of refugees). I only encountered few refugees from war areas. ONLY 1 person from Iraq, about 2 families were from Afghanistan, 1 couple from Pakistan(I doubt they were real refugees they spoke fluent English, maybe political refugee), and a most from African countries. Its too far for real refugees to get here. Its Easier for them to go to other countries nearby or Europe. MOST SEEM TO BE ECONOMIC REFUGEES. Most were coming from Africa. Some are coming from Latin America, which shouldn't be happening. Once they showed up at our doorstep and we processed them into the system, they were immediately in the same class as a Canadian resident homeless person if they were making a refugee claim. We get money to house and feed them (from the government), and they are given a stipend for basics from the government processed through the Social Assistance/ Welfare system (they get less than a resident/citizen I think.). They then have to get their case processed by the refugee board, and most seem to get in. I've only heard of few getting sent back. One person I know at our facility, was given a subsided social housing apartment after a year in our facility. So they went straight from a shelter to a government/city owned subsidized apartment. (Didn't seem like it was a issue for the housing worker...they didn't report it (if they were not the ones that helped the person to get it), they were white, the housed person was Latin. This refugee claimant, and then month or two new Canadian resident person was given an apartment in a prime area of the city, instead of the 1000's of Canadians, those who came before them, and born Canadian citizens on an extremely long waiting list. How this was allowed to happen I don't know. The person was probably sucking on someone's straw. I'm just trying to think the barriers these people have to go through to get a job here. We are far removed from the time of the 80's and 90's., and housing and jobs are so hard to get. Lol the "Canadian government asks them to repay the traveling cost to Canada if they are sent back"....I wonder how much the government recoups?.....more like 0 probably. What a bunch of crap. How do you demand someone to repay their flight cost when they get back to their country?

growing up in canada, i felt left out in the blk community b/c i am a 5th generation blk cdn on mom's side and 3rd on my dad's - when other black ppl not canadian born met me - i tell them i'm cdn, but i always used to get the question - where are you really from - they were looking for me to say the islands - when i told them my paternal grandma was born in 1901 in canada - that's when the questions stopped. i've been told that b/c i wasn't from the islands, i had no culture in college, but a mbr of the black student society put him in his place i heard he got into a lot of trouble. i was asked what do we eat as in food as canadians what kind of music do we listen to - at our blk canadian weddings, the only carribean song played was hot hot hot by arrow - we played straight up r and b and motown. i hv been rejected by other blk men b/c i'm not west indian enough...it was hurtful. even with 'friends' they made of my cdn heritage but i used to think, why are you making fun of me knowing that my family and ancestors were in canada first - they were 1st generation - i live in the usa now and i'm with an african american man - he has never treated me as if i were different and he loves going w/me to canada. my parents told me it was jealousy on those ppl's parts - one guy i used to be friends with in college, when i went to his house, his mom was from the islands, when she met me - she said, 'you cdn ppl are loud' and that did it for me - i didn't date her son but when he met my parents, they never said any of that crap to him. in the usa, the african americans don't treat differently at all - my ex mom in law thought we were american but decided to live in canada - b/c she was surprised that blacks do live in canada. her other daughter in law's family were from the islands - but she gravitated more to my family and felt comfortable around them more than her family and this ex sis in law would brag about the islands this and that and she would make comments about my looks being skinny and such but it was jealousy - i didn't care much for her b/c she was very insecure. i felt once again, i was a young girl in college again - being around island ppl....i would love to meet drake and ask him did he feel left out and isolated because he wasn't from the islands - he makes me very proud being a blk canadian - his dad is african american and his mom is jewish. i still hv dealt w/racism not much with wht ppl, but with my own ppl - which is quite sad and on top of it-colorism, that also played a part from my family - being called pygmy, chocolate dip, nappy hair - it hurt but these so called relatives, they aren't all that anymore, they had hard lives as children...when ppl see something in you that is special and they don't have, that's when their ugliness shows -

As a Canadian Salvadoran I’m grateful to be in this great country. However, I implore all immigrants/refugees to wake up and smell the roses, it is not paradise here....it’s great but not that great. There are things here that oppress Canadians, and the government is one of them. Racism exists here, better believe that, Sadly, In this world there is no more empathy, kindness. It’s a Dog eat dog world. No matter where you go.....ok maybe Switzerland or Iceland is alright ? but no where else. Like I always say Follow the laws, take care of yourself and your family and be happy.

I’m Canadian and I firmly agree with Trump on his immigration plans. I was worried that illegals might start trying to come here. Glad to see it didn’t work out. Get in line and do it the right fucking way like all my immigrant friends and their families did asshole.
