I agree, if you don't like it here, you should leave. However, the challenges we face in Canada are not unique to our country. It's easy to believe the grass is greener elsewhere, but I'm willing to accept both the good and the bad, and I haven't lost hope that we can fix Canada from within. Of course, this requires believing that change is possible and being willing to contribute in any way you can. Frankly, I find your attitude defeatist. You're happy to enjoy the good times, but as soon as things get rough, you're ready to leave. It makes me wonder if our current situation isn't partly due to people's unwillingness to do more than complain and run away when things get tough.

I'm amazed by the check list that goes on in people's minds. You can't predict the future and even your Soviet union stopped at 5 year plans. I left Canada on a whim in 1994. I never thought I couldn't come back if I wanted or needed to. My bet is you met a guy in Serbia (let's say) and want to be in a reasonable place where it's financially possible to build a home and start a family. Canada has seriously failed the 33 year old demographic, that's the truth, and doesn't deserve your gratitude. Any civilized country gives its young people opportunities, Canada was not unique in educating you and letting you believe that the future was promising

I just turned 80 and my wife is 77 and we're now seriously considering leaving Canada, the country where both sides of my family settled over 200 years ago. It's honestly getting tough to live anywhere. Global inflation is everywhere!! I live in The United States, and it's no better here, it's worse. There are many times I have thought of moving to Canada, because I'm so tired of the safety issues in this country. Now memory came back to me when I was in Vancouver for 3 days and enjoyed my time over Canada in 2015 for a concert, Canada was the first country I've visited outside of the United States I'll never for get it the people where amazing very polite there was a moment in my life that I wanted to move to Canada now thinking over my decision after some years later I'm glad I didn't. I can't believe how bad it has gotten I'm now sure its gotten worse now. Hi! I'm an American with the 'dream' of immigrating to Canada for many years. Got permanent residency and am working in Montreal for the summer to try it out and.... really shocked about the high taxes vs. the quality of the roads for example :/ What social benefits are Canadians really getting? Although the pace of life and culture is nice, it is hard to make less money here as a teacher than I could be in the US, and with some bullsh*t to put up with (pardon my language). And although I feel safe here, I can't believe how car thefts are so brazen and common. I might just become a seasonal visitor after all.

I find it hard to believe that these migrants are having an easier time getting into Canada than the US. I've been to Canada 6 times as an American tourist and except for my recent trip up there to see the eclipse, the officers always asked at least 4 questions about my trip and plans like where I'm staying and one time how much money I had. One time when I went they did that 'secondary inspection' where they look through my luggage and enquire about items (in my case several electronics which most people travel with). These people who are going to Canada probably have enough money for a typical weeklong trip and probably have hotel reservations, etc. Other things immigration officers ask often is what kind of work you do and when you are due to report back to work, as well as who you live with. They want to be sure you have ties back home.

As a permanent resident who immigrated from Eastern Europe, passed all the stages of the official immigration program (skilled worker) I'm just shocked what is happening in Canada. Canada is lost, the problem is much deeper than you think. The main problem is not low wages, high property prices, etc, the root cause is that native Canadians are too tolerate, too kind, too polite and can't just say (and act) - get fucking out of my country, all those illegal indian students and temporary workers. \nI believe cultural damage being done to this country is much more dangerous than any possible economic benefits from mass immigration. I'm born and raised just outside of Buffalo, NY. A resident of Erie County. I can't believe these illegal immigrants get Free Healthcare & myself a citizen cannot afford proper Healthcare. It's disgusting.

Context:\n\nAround a year or two ago driving back home with some friends after visiting Niagara Falls, we were pulled over because my car’s headlights were off. I didn’t stop immediately when they turned their police lights on because I didn’t think I did anything wrong but did eventually pull over after realizing they were indeed trying to pull me over. \n\nAfter I pulled over, two officers quickly got out and one of them rushed to my passenger side mirror and very aggressively yelled at me, “why didn’t you pull over” etc. I was very surprised by his reaction and quickly explained that I was a fairly new driver (about 6 months of driving experience at the time). He went away for a few seconds to cool off and later apologized for his behavior (very respectable).\n\nMain Focus:\n\nNow, the interesting part is while the officer was cooling off, the other officer wanted not just my ID but everyone else’s’ in my car as well. I still to this day do not think that is normal, however, I haven’t been pulled over enough to confirm that. Anyways, some of my friends didn’t have officials IDs on them but they did have their student ID. The police wanted that as well. They took a long time to what I assume, conduct a very thorough check on everyone’s ID, making sure nothing is suspicious and everyone is from America. The whole encounter had to be around 20 to 30 minutes long, it was very very long. \n\nTakeaway:\n\nFrom what I experienced that day, I strongly believe that people were at least crossing the northern border around 1 year ago and most likely even earlier. There are bus services that go straight to NYC from Buffalo which is right across the border from Canada to the US. However, I’m not sure if you need ID to use those services. \n\nFor those who read this comment, use this information however you will, I hope it helps even just a little in making some sort of change. \n\nHopefully, there won’t be an increase on how long it takes me to get past border patrol to Canada and back ?. I also hope that our taxes decrease because too much of it are being payed for services to aliens when some of our locals are still stuck in the streets.

They have their own network of friends and they're always on the lookout for good opportunities. \n4. most newcomers are very, very mobile. If they're having trouble finding work in Montreal and they need truck drivers somewhere else.... they'll go there . A new hospital needs aid personnel? They'll be there ready for hard work. \nThe positives ? They're probably working , making money and paying taxes. \nThe negative side? They're for the most part economic immigrants. It seems to me like most will have a hard time convincing immigration judges that they are actually refugees (economic refugees? if you will? ). \nMy take ? I’m a Canadian truck driver. It’s time to teach these drivers from any other country that we do have laws here. I get passed by trucks being operated by people from his country all the time in most unsafe manner. Often on hilly roads with curves and blind spots. They pull up beside you and then motion to you to slow down so they can complete the take over. How ever in the Humboldt accident I believe it was a matter of not paying attention. But blamed on sunlight blinding the driver. What ever the case was laws are laws. They are there for a reason.

Im an Indian from the state of Kerala. In my class from college nearly 20 of them came to study in Canada. Believe me these people who come are not that academically good the fun fact is that the academically brighter ones never went abroad all of them got a decent job in India itself.. I'm not saying that all of them coming are trash my ex gf now in Hamilton was extremely bright and got a decent job there..the basic issue is that Canadian government must have strict standards for foreign students Australia has it. Canadian here, have lived in the UK, the Caribbean and the US since 2018. Every country is screwed in its own way. There are few enclaves for English speakers. You have to go to an area (which may not be country specific but could be state/province/city specific) where your industry thrives and you can get a job/visa/sponsorship etc. It's not pretty. I'm so tired of it. I just don't think there's a way to not be screwed if you're a millennial. Lets not forget the palestinian protestors causing violence and disorder in small business and malls. \n\nThis guy calls them out and he's the villain???
