Canadians demand that all business remove american products from their shelves...Make it easier for Canadians to buy Canadian only....Canadians have spoken....We support Canadian business....I live in Manitoba and I want to be able to buy products from Newfound Land to BC. I want to renovate my home with Canadian lumber, I want to eat Canadian foods, I want to wear Canadian clothes....Canadians have spoken loud and clear...we are doing our part, we want our gov to do the same so get rid of the provcial boarders and let Canadians show the US how Canadians put CANADA FIRST

The cult never questions if they're told it has something to do with hating immigrants. Tariffs are paid for by the US citizen. The little guys. It allows the US government to become a middleman in every transaction. Getting a cut when it has done nothing to deserve it. It is the way Russia runs things. Trump is always using the Russia Playbook of how to dismantle a democracy. It is the opposite of free trade and capitalism

Let me explain the trading relationship briefly that occurs between Canada and the US for context. \n \nCanada Has a LOT of natural resources, more than our domestic manufacturing base needs (Uranium fuel, Lumber/paper products, Steel and other metals, Fertilizer for farms...etc). Therefore we sell those raw materials to the states where they are manufactured into goods, which we then buy back. a LOT of American service companies like tech, media (And yes, even banks)...etc also operates in Canada as well. (For the auto sector the parts flip back and forth across the border like 8 times) \n \nThis relationship alone has the American economy see a large trade surplus with Canada, however there is another element to it: Energy. \n \nCanada is also home to a LARGE amount of really cheap renewable hydro power in the east, and a LOT of oil in the west, due to a lack of infrastructure we really can only sell that oil to the states and therefore it is done at a discount. America refines this cheap oil into gas and is a large part of the reason why American gas is so cheap. They use this energy to power the same factories mentioned above. (Oh and also the NE states import a lot of that clean hydro electricity for the same reasons) \n \nThe US Buys SO MUCH of that cheap energy from us to power your industrial base, that it swings the numbers on the trade balance into a small deficit for the USA. (41 billion out of a TRILLION dollars total trade, or about -4.1% of total trade so literally a pretty small deficit) It also swing back and forth every year so \n \nThen comes Trump. He wants Canada as a 51st state and own the entire continent, therefore he manufactures an excurse that our border is leaky and that migrants and fentanyl are flowing over. (In actual case migrants and the flow of Fent is about 1% the amount that's crossing at the Mexico border but he needs an excuse) \n \nHe therefore puts 25% tariffs on us. Those tariffs will hit Canada harder than the 2008 financial crisis just for scale. \n \nOh and also for the most part American Refineries literally cant process any other oil than ours or Venezuela's because its thicker so tariffs on our oil will also really increase the priced of energy in the states by a huge amount just for the LOLs. As we've seen during the post covid recovery, since gas is priced in to the supply chain at every step (Manufacturing, transportation...etc), any increase at the pump will snowball into higher costs for everything at the store, on top of the extra cost of the tariffs on consumers. (Since every step will need to add it into their markup.)

Americans are being nice by doing business with Canada. We can buy our syrup somewhere else ? good luck Canada ?? ? We don't need you, you need us ❤ ?

This will certainly make it awkward when US farmers attempt to buy canadian chicken to recover from the US avian flu crisis...

Canada charges americans 20%-25% foreign property tax fee when americans try to buy property in canada. This has been around for years. American government doesn't tax canadians or any other foreigners an extra tax when purchasing property in the US.

Canadian here- I hate Trudeau just as much as most Canadians, and as it seems most Republican Americans do as well. But I fully stand behind him at this hour. He might have shit the bed for most Canadians during his time as PM, but when it mattered he has stood up for Canada. Review the facts and educate yourself on the current situation between CAN and the US. I will be the first to admit, Canada has not done enough in terms of its own security and military, but these failures should not be the decay in our friendship as nations. The US DOES NOT subsidize Canada, it DOES NOT give money to Canada. In simple terms- the larger country, with the largest economy in the world (USA) buys more from its Northern brother, which produces vast amounts of natural resources which the larger southern country requires. As for the booing seen at most recent sports events in Canada, that is directed at the President, not the average American. We have always been allies, friends, and to most even family. Tariffs are consumer taxes on imports, collected from your own citizens, whenever they buy products or services from other countries. Trump said he would reduce taxes. He told voters other countries paid for Tariffs. They Don’t. They just lose sales, due to diminished demand. Tariffs are another way for the US government to tax its own people and reduce its trade deficit . It’s probably about time. USA has had a trade deficit every year, since 1970.

DW comes from Germany, so don't expect fair reporting. However, this is so simple to understand. We buy from them much more than they buy from us. What it means, is that they can't tariff us as much as we can tariff them. The ´war´is lost before it began. They simply can't win it. Actually, I'm surprised, they even try because it doesn't make any sense.

Does anyone not understand the trade unbalance? How much does the US buy from Canada and Mexico vs how much does the US buy from them? Who do you think this will hurt in the long run? It's quite interesting.
