Canada had a dream of adding 1 million immigrants every year until 2100 until it reaches a population of 100 million plus! I guess that dream is down the toilet along with Canada's future!

I can tell you one of the major reasons. It is the fact that these immigrants from India do not want to assimilate into Canada. Instead they bring their ways with them into Canada and some of those “ways”, are not acceptable in Canada. One example of that is the whole using the bathroom on the beach. But one that hits hard for me is the insane amount of immigrants that are harvesting spawning salmon with nets, without any of the properly paperwork that is needed to fish salmon with a rod. Using a net is illegal, I know they know it because when I catch them doing this. They become quiet and all of a sudden, after hearing them just speaking English, they pretend they do not know English… I can tell you this is all true. The other thing I have seen with my eyes is shop lifting from the local grocery store. I have never seen that before, not ever in all my years living here. It would be somewhat different if they were stealing essential items and essential foods. But they are not doing that, they are stealing all the luxury items. I am a white Canadian and I am proud of it, but guess what. I am also proud of the fact that I have a doctor that came from India and his family is thriving here. It makes me proud that he chose our country try to come to, with his educational background, it also makes me proud that he and his family have taken the time to try and assimilate into our culture. When I say assimilate by the way, I do not want them or and immigrant to completely abandon their cultures, I just would prefer it if they assimilate to the point where we can have a healthy community instead of all these separate cultural areas in our towns and cities. You think the government would place more funding into the healthcare system. Well that has not happened and if anything they have taken more funds away from our healthcare system than any other time in our country’s history. So before the mass immigration begun we had a major issue with having way too many patients and not enough medical staff to adequately treat everyone in a timely and healthy manner. So now think about that, the healthcare system was already stressed with the current population before mass immigration. How do you think adding waves and waves of more people every year via mass immigration is affecting that system? The answer is this… if the system was stressed beforehand, it is collapsing now. I am one of the lucky few that has a family doctor right now. It takes three months the just for me to see her… If I have an emergency and have to call 911, the ambulance will take me up to the local ER and then I will be wheeled out to the waiting room, which defeats the purpose of me calling 911 for a ambulance. I have waited two days at the local ER just to see a doctor. So here is where it affects the immigrants coming in. If a Canadian that was here before you is already having major issues with the healthcare, then I can only imagine how hard it will be for a new citizen to our country, nuff said really… the local er near me had a person die in the waiting room this past January. Add to this fact that I am actually pretty sick at the moment and so are my parents and you can understand why I am upset about our failing healthcare system. The politicians do not have to worry about our such issues though because they can afford to pay to go outside of Canada and pay cold hard cash for medical treatment. That is why they do not mind removing funds from our healthcare system, it will not affect them and they get to line their pockets with more of our tax money… I honestly place most of the blame for what is going on right now on Trudeau’s government and not the immigrants. The immigrants could help make this crappy situation a lot better for both of our parties though if they tried a little harder to adapt to our ways of life here. When in Canada try to live like a Canadian, I do not think that is asking much. Again, as for racism, I believe in judging a person by their actions and not by the colour of their skin. Racism is such an antiquated way of thinking… Our skin colours maybe different, just like our cultural backgrounds, but after all is said and done we are all members of the human race. Immigration in Canada is a cycle. My guess is in 5 to 10 years the doors will be wide open again for immigration as the Boomers die off in mass. Housing is an issue because the entry level houses are not being built. I know guys in construction who develop homes and they ALWAYS build upper to high end houses because they are more profitable for the builder. Combine this with many people buying 1 or 2 extra homes and then using them as airBnB (Igor! lol!). But the worst is large hedge funds buying massive amounts of homes for profit. Some estimates say 20% or so of the housing stock is owned by hedge funds atm. In the last 4 years Hedge funds made MASSIVE purchases in real estate as a hedge against inflation. Canada does not exist in a vacuum as the USA has some very similar housing issues. One last thing is people do NOT want home prices to go down. 2/3rds or so of people own a home and the LAST THING they want is for their home value to DECREASE! So you really will not see massive changes to decrease home prices no matter what political party is in power. The majority of voters have a vested interest in high and higher home prices. Making it easier for people to buy a home is probably the best short term solution.

Highways that were built using tax payer money were sold to companies and now Canadians need to pay to us it. Most grocery stores are owned by a few major companies and I see butter prices rising every few months. A 1L carton of cream at my local store is $8! I won't talk too much about housing cause it's obviously sh**. I will say a couple of years ago the Premier of Ontario, Doug Ford (my greatest enemy), was releasing the protection of the green belt, a protect part of Ontario used for agriculture. He said he would use it to build new homes, great right? NOPE. First of all, the green belt is used for food to reduce prices for Canadians cause its local. He has stated he would move it to another location but that land there is less fertile. The worst thing is, the reason he is saying he would use the green belt to build houses is because the land there is very valuable. And guess who owns that land? His BUDDIES! That means he would sell that land to developers and his buddies would get all the profit cause the money developers use to buy the land will directly be put on the buyer. Not to mention, Doug Ford, the same person, since his instatement as premier, has cut the Ontario education budget by 50%. 50%!!!! ABSOLUTELY UNREAL. Can't even afford air conditioning in schools where the weather is so extreme. Rogers? The largest internet provider in Canada? Absolutely cr*p. So many complaints about bad connection and cutoffs which I also experienced when my mom bought one of their products and my internet was sh** for a couple of months. The ONLY, and I mean only, good major thing Trudeau has done is legalize marijuana. Another thing I forgot to mention is that our government is made up of criminals. Doug Ford, he and his family use to partake in drug dealing. Another major complaint is the ttc which is public transportation costing so damn much! As a student, it costs me over $1000 a year to get to school using the ttc. The times aren't even that great either as even on a major road, I had to wait 25 minutes to get a bus. Thats my rant.

If u can’t pay for your kids study , then you find them spouse who has money and pay for everything only on one condition, he or she can get them to Canada on open work permit ! The headline is misleading as everyone knows citizenship can not be demanded. What these entitled foreign students are demanding is perm residency via extended work permits. Extending permits to five years (as they've demanded) would DESTROY the Canadian economy and have a permanent effect on Canadian identity as well as no end to the housing crisis. Furthermore, many of these students who originate from India's two most poorest and crime ridden states: Punjab and Gujarat, will contribute to the growth of crime cartels, such as the thriving car theft ring targeting cars in the Toronto GTA and the Air Canada gold heist that took place at Toronto Pearson Airport in 2023 resulting in the largest theft in Canadian history ($22.5 million). Guess what country where all six suspect are from ? Doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that out.

I grew up in Montreal and left to go to graduate school in California. I have since moved to Las Vegas (California was a dissaster runned by Democrats who screwed up everything) and everything fell into place and I am extremely happy. I make a good living here and I can usually make a same day or next day appointment to see a doctor when I need one. I remember how bad government runned healthcare in Canada was and that it used to take months to make an appointment to see a doctor. The medical system in the USA is top notch as long as you live in a Republican dominated state. I guess that's the difference between Canada's government runned healthcare and the USA's private healthcare. Anytime the government operates a system it is a dissaster. If you're looking to move somewhere I would recommend Las Vegas.

Canada is really still not that bad of a place to live. I am 38 years old suffer with epilepsy own my own house, I am married. My job is Medicore paying and very hard work. Me and my wife have plenty of disposable income at the end of the month to do what we want with or save it. A lot of people need to learn how to budget money. Stay away from credit cards, personal loans , expensive cars basically useless shit. Yes canada is expensive but there ways around it. Example stop living in expensive cities. Find skill sets around your job if you want extra money trust me there many of them. I make more money just on my hobbies then I do working, guess what tax free. Health care not the best but it is still really not that bad yet. Point being if I can handle Canada you can to trust me I am nobody special. I just live within my means and have hustles on the side with just high school education.

Saw this coming years ago, sold everything and moved to Thailand. After 13 years I'm still here. Just came back from a 3 month stay there. Covid did so much damage to the place economically, socially and politically. I had fun, but no plans to return to the US to live. I'm also following the crazy madness that is happening in Canada. Alina, if you were born in Sovet Uninion (dismantled in 1991), you are at least 33 years old at the moment. You said that you begun travelling 15 years ago, so you were at least 18. With that, I can guess that you likely haven't got a college degree in a profession in demand. If you've got a proper education at McGill or UoT, your income would be in sx digits. You would likely have bought a house somewhere (not in Toronto or Van, let's say in Montreal) before covid, paying 2% interest rate, got married and have kids and a husband making six digits. So, you would be totally fine in Canada even considering increased living costs. Juat my 2 cents
