I am amazed about Canadians talking about Indians, who make an attempt to fit in. Yet they have no problem with the millions of Chinese that have no desire to blend. Toronto and Vancouver have more Chinese than Canadians. Trudeau controls the narrative, he is owned by the Chinese government so he won't say anything about them and the fact that they have driven the cost of housing out of control for all Canadians.

The economic situation will improve one day,once this narcissistic woke sham artist is out of office. \n\nBut what about the social discord and animosity between Canadians who have been here decades and those that came post 2015?\n\nMy family came from India in 1965 and... back then you had to intigrate or else you couldnt make it here.\n\nMy granparents had to acclimate and learn the culture,although they already knew English.\n\nBut the people who came under Trudeau have no desire or inclination to do so and it is causing social ills.\n\nThose of us who came long ago are appalled at how low the standards to get here have actually fallen.\n\nElection Now!

Despite healthcare system problems, the average life expectancy in Canada is one of the highest in the world. Despite the poor public transportation, Canadian society does not want to actively invest in it and give up cars. Despite the expensive education in Canada, only few immigrants will send their children to their old country to study at a university, while hundreds of thousands of students come to study in Canada every year with the desire to remain in the country by all means, and that despite the harsh climate, relatively high unemployment, not very efficient healthcare, enormously expensive housing and poor public transport. Isn’t it ironic?

This lack of access to health care is a new thing. I agree with your assessment. It now seems lonelier in Toronto. \n\nCanada used to be different because anyone with a good job could afford at least a condo, but life became unaffordable not just for immigrants, but for everyone unless you are in your 50s-60s and own a home. \n\nI have friends working double jobs supporting family back home in other countries, but for some of them the family back home sound like they are doing better than them and own a home. It’s like they are sacrificing their life to be in poverty or full of hardships and their families get to go out for dinners and drinks with friends. Not them. Not true for everyone, but for some yes and I worry about their own retirement because retirement in Canada without lots of savings means you might be homeless or forced to live with family even if it’s not your preference. \n\n without investments and savings, it will be hard to beat inflation. Getting into debt and getting bad credit can mean not getting an apartment. \n\nThe birth rate is going down because it is expensive to have kids and income isn’t enough to match with living costs. Getting help from government is really not something everyone gets access too. One person might get housing support, 10 others may get nothing. Different governments offer different things. Programs end and change often. \n\nIn Canada definitely bargain and shop around for good phone plans. one idea is to get a pay as you go until “Black Friday” then every year or two when your good offer expires there will be many others. It’s the time with the best deals saving almost half. For instance, I have 50 gigs for $25 for two years from a large provider. Telephone companies are the one place where people must bargain and even ask for better deals as a must.\n\nThe people you see living in big houses, will have kids that can’t afford the same. This is because prices keep rising. The system protects the very rich, but will also drain the middle class often within 1-2 generations. Do not link your business to your personal finance, or creditors can take your home. Some not knowing this lose everything and rich people know better. \n\nPeople live until they are very old, so inheritance is pretty much meaningless to rely on, so no matter what your parents have you must hustle in life. \n\nI do think Canada can become what we want over time. Citizens need to fight the trend of great community spaces, restaurants and bars going out of business and dumb corporations move in with bad boring restaurants. Like a McDonald’s where maybe a popular cultural hang out was. \n\nPart of the problem is a lack of mixed income housing areas, so it’s hard to stay living where you grew up. Artists and musicians help make a city great, but many cannot afford to live here.\n\nFamilies and communities staying together means more support for those with young kids and older relatives when they need help. Yet how is this possible in a city that is always pushing out lower income people when wealthier people desire the area. \n\nIn Toronto, every time you move you have to take what is available and that might mean moving an hour away from everyone you know. This weakens communities. Plus, if you live too far from your work you will have no time to socialize for most the week due to travel time. \n\nI think those who grew up in Toronto do have a certain culture of acceptance with others from many cultures, because your friends at school were from all over. But with new migrants sometimes it isn’t until the second generation that their social circles get diverse. This can be isolating and it’s even isolating as those from Toronto eventually leave dreaming of staying in one spot and not forced to move constantly when a landlord investor sells every house you move into. \n\n\nToronto really needs to protect affordability of housing for at least some housing in every section so that people can save money if they live in the city, and not have to leave their communities and be far from their friends and family. \n\notherwise eventually people get sick of the hustle and it’s too tiring to travel 1+ hrs each way to visit someone during Monday to Friday. \n\n20 years ago any professional could at least buy a condo. Not today. There is too much competition now and investors are allowed to buy up all the most affordable housing that once was a pathway to owning a home. \n\nRich policy makers got greedy and destroyed canada and hopefully diversity in leadership will help make Canada better. But they perhaps people knew to Canada can reject this lonely structure and help us rebuild Toronto into an amazing place. \n\nWe need to make sure everyone can afford housing with 30% of their income. I think that will help

I may receive a lot of criticism for my opinion, but I feel compelled to share my experience as a resident and worker in this country. I immigrated to Canada from Ukraine in 2022 and have since been living and working in Winnipeg. This country has offered me numerous opportunities, even though I do not hold high-ranking positions. My wife and I are able to save a bit of money for unforeseen expenses. Just when I started to feel settled and thought that things were going quite well, I encountered numerous videos claiming the opposite, particularly highlighting the scarcity of affordable housing. \n \nDespite the prevalence of such content, my personal experience differs. I pay $725 for housing with a salary of $2.3K, which I find to be a reasonable balance. Some might say I was fortunate, but affordable housing ranging from $800 to $1000 is readily available in Winnipeg, and this is just one city's example; there are many other cities across Canada. \nFrom my perspective, the issue of housing affordability is overstated and not solely attributable to the country's policies. Such scenarios can occur in any nation if half the population desires to reside within 4% of its land area (namely, Toronto and its vicinity), leading inevitably to soaring prices – that's simply economics. \n \nIt's not my place to dictate how Canadians should live, but it appears to me that the crux of the problem lies in the uneven distribution of the population. As the second-largest country globally, Canada can comfortably accommodate 40 million people or even significantly more. However, this necessitates a collective understanding that concentrating the population in a single city may not be the most prudent approach.

Until 2020 (pandemic), most lifelong Canadians would have proudly & quickly said Canada is a great place. For multiple generations (young & old). It still is in many ways. But like all countries, a bunch of things have made life more difficult lately. \n \nDuring the COVID lockdowns, many people went wild wanting to buy a house (urban & rural). Increasing demand and rising prices. Not long after, inflation caused mortgage rates especially to rise. Rent costs soared too. People interested in working in hospitals declined. Less doctors etc.. \n \nSimultaneously in Canada, the number of people coming by air, land and boat to claim asylum skyrocketed. For example, in 2023 alone, in just one region (Central Canada) around 400 people arrived per day (on average). Ditto for other populated provinces. Also the number of international students SKYROCKETED too. In 2023, averaging around 2,000 per day across Canada. Years 2021 and 2022 had high #s too. \n \nThe majority trying to migrate to Canada recently have been from South Asia. And it's become extremely obvious to Canadians. Even those that are very used to much diversity & many cultures. Plus neighborhoods now know that international students are using schooling as a 'back door' ticket to come to Canada for permanent residency. No one says it in public amongst strangers, but everyone knows because they've witnessed the extreme PR frenzy firsthand by now. To many Canadians it has felt like a tidal wave that has reached all cities and small towns, with a post secondary school. This extreme situation never existed prior to 4 years ago.\n \nHospitals have been hit with many wanting free healthcare. Less doctors/nurses etc., means greater waiting times. Plus a VERY SEVERE HOUSING CRISIS has occurred in many western countries including in Canada. In ways not seen in people's lifetimes. And if you do find a place to live its quite expensive. Including small basement rooms. \n \nNow westerners want the money greedy agents (pseudo smugglers) in other countries to stop marketing & LYING to their own people about access to PR or citizenship … or accommodation/jobs … being easy (to get). And for any greedy people living in western countries to be ashamed of themselves if they're hurting students. Anyone doing things to make $ off of people's PR desires. At best, there is a 25% chance of gaining PR (better odds if you are masters/medicine etc.). \n \nNot all players across the board have acted honestly over the years, i.e. contract marriages (IELTS spouse), anchor babies, fraud, false asylum claims. Canada has asked the India government to prevent “ghost consulting”. The new PRIVATE (non-public) colleges are being investigated (including looking for strong oversea ties). \n \nCanadians are meeting students who told Canada they have enough $, but it turns out they borrowed it (some borrowed it for the application process only). Canadian food banks and other CHARITY services have been recklessly advertised on YouTube (by India students in Indian language). Many transit services have launched stricter rules, i.e. lost monthly bus passes registered in your name are now never replaced (unlike before). \n \nThen this year throw in all the Palestinian vs Israeli angry protests happening regularly in cities. Plus the Sikh vs Hindu violence/extortion mostly happening in Ontario and British Columbia. Plus the Canadian government also recently launched investigations in regards to foreign interference in Canadian elections. All stemming from Asia continent. Hate crimes have gone from rare to occasional (primarily South Asians against South Asians). \n \nCanadians are so so so so so not used to all this. So many, who have embraced multi-culturalism and immigration for decades are now VERY worried and fearful (due to all of the above). And all are praying it doesn't turn into great anger (like in the USA). \n \nCanadians want multi-culturism to succeed … and for all people (including immigrants) to be okay. Everyone I know is VERY happy with Canada Immigration's recent changes (reductions & investigations). Including multi-generational long-term Asian-Canadians where many have been the most upset (by all of this).

My boy was doing well before the desire to relocate to Canada to make more money. Today,you have said it all. Thanks God we resolve that the issue of relocation be disregarded

If only instead of supporting wars outside our borders we could fund a war on eliminating drugs. Eliminate illegal sources of deugs and require strict prescriptions for access that verify theyre not being abused. I think without drug abuse we could handle homelessness from mental illness alone. Its clear that those in charge have no desire to help the citizens.

What's wrong with them living right next door in one third of the Sinai. Egypt gets $40 billion, the palestinians get $20 billion and $20 billion goes to public infrastructure creation. They would have a coastline both on the Mediterranean and the gulf of Aqabba. There are very few dwellers in that area now. Funded by all of the players in the area and the major nations with the USA leading at $20 billion. I came up with this in detail fifteen years ago, sent it to the US State Dept, and to select ambassadors with ZERO response. A good solution is not desirable by the dark rule.

It’s simple, mass immigration dilutes the national culture with other cultures that don’t have the time, ability, desire or intention to adapt to the host culture. It effectively causes cultural ghettoing of society which lends itself very well to manipulation by the practitioners of ideologies that dislike traditional national identity and strong historical values. That is, liberal progressive ideologies. That’s in contrast with well-vetted, manageable, and highly controlled immigration from similar or adaptable cultures that increase the chance of successful integration, which is favoured by conservatives, as anyone with a gram of common sense can imagine.

I lived there a few years ago. It was obvious which way the wind was blowing ( politically Woke ).\nHave no real desire to return. There are plenty of other better countries to live in.

The Government of Canada acknowledges that some immigrants will eventually permanently leave the country. In this business dynamic, the government and temporary immigrants are engaged in a mutually beneficial game, with only those who desire to settle and establish roots sacrificing their standards of living. These individuals are often victims of the system. However, it's important to recognize that every country has its own strengths and specialties. Japan and Germany are renowned for their industrial prowess, Italy and Thailand for their vibrant tourism sectors, while Canada stands out for its immigration policies. Interestingly, Australia has maintained a certain distance from this complex situation.

No country is perfect due to so many reasons, the politics, the culture, natural resources, economic affairs, Healthcare and even the thinking pattern of inhabitants themselves. And it is natural for things to change over time in every aspect. We just need to look at these things with an open mind and make decisions. If Canada would not fulfill your desires simply stay in your homeland and may be try to make it a great place to live.

Many of these immigrants obtained their desired education, obtained a Canadian passport as backup security and then they’re moving on to what they view/perceive as better financial prospects elsewhere. Many immigrants arrive pregnant , have their children here in Canada and the child receives a Canadian passport. They’ve also reached the minimum number of years to become eligible for government OAS. \nStop all whining and complaining! These new immigrants who have contributed absolutely nothing to the infrastructure hospitals, schools, bridges, roads, highways….are complaining! Bloody hell!

Since I was a kid I wanted to live in Canada. Some of my extended family’s out there. Policies of the current government have killed any desire I have to live there.

Nothing about the country inspires loyalty or confidence. The leadership, federal and provincial, is a joke. The nation is comprised of people who want to turn a quick profit, and make their money buying and selling houses: that accounts for 20 FREAKING PERCENT of their GDP. There is nothing for a new citizen to rally around - no seriousness about themselves, no desire to build something big for the future, no sense of identity that does not exist in contradistinction to the US. The only good that has come of this disastrous experiment with immigration is that hardly anyone with any options will ever make the mistake that so many others have.

Canada is a great country I have be here for over half a century raised my family. The culture has changed with the times with Govt Policies put the test resulting in skyrocketing COL like food rents housing costs etc and lack of it not making Canada desirable at this time. The Cap on Foreign Students represents a \nCooling Off period for Canada which will prove beneficial in the coming years. The federal government's goal is to attract immigrants who have the capital, income earning potential (skills), and desire to be comfortable in Canada. It's clearly not easy to settle here. My great grandparents had to build not only their house but their whole town (its community, services, systems), and I doubt it's easier for immigrants today. It's probably even harder, psychologically, because immigrants now are surrounded by others who've already settled. Immigrating to a country with a lower cost of living is probably easier, but Canada's peace, multiculturalism, nature, and growth policies are quite attractive. (I've lived elsewhere, so I can compare.)

The killing within Gaza wouldn’t have happened if Hamas hadn’t brutally attacked and murdered hundreds of innocent Israelis. Perhaps he could have condemned Hamas? Much of Europe and America & Canada are not desirable anymore. Politicians are allowing 10's of millions of migrants in. We have bad economies, high inflation and a housing shortage and now there's pressure for more housing driving up the cost of living for citizens making them homeless. On top of that they're purposely driving down WAGES with all the migrants making OUR labor less valuable. Politicians are giving ILLEGALS free food, clothes, phones & housing off our backs while we struggle to stay off the streets ourselves.

I’m qualified Eastern European that was invited for a job in Switzerland. The high cost of living matches the high quality of life, which makes it worthwhile. From what I hear - it’s not exactly the same in Canada. It used to be considered a very desirable destination about a decade ago. \n\nIt’s sad to see Canada going in that direction. They will likely lose a lot of good people. :-(

Dubai and Abu Dhabi is where I visited from India as a tourist a couple of years ago. I feel both these neighbouring cities would suit and match your desires and expectations for you and your family. I have only lived in four countries (more than 3 months). I have visited 38 countries in my lifetime, you do will not see what is not out there bad with those countries, I would not trade Canada for any of those, even inside Canada there are many places more desirable than other parts. Basically he's saying the Palestinians have a right to live in peace even when they plan to eradicate Israel. The two do not go together. The Palestinians have rejected numerous offers for peace. So basically the pro-Palestinians ignore the Palestinians desire for war. Read the HAMAS charter.

1st - there is no more blockade. The moment israel has managed to create sufficient infrastructure to i spect incoming aid trucks (to make sure they are not smuggling weapons in) than there is zero blockade.\nThe bottleneck is from UN countries that can't or won't send enough aid.\n\n2nd. The palestinians already had their own land. In Gaza. They had their own Hamas government and policies and rules. \nThe problem is that they have been waging on-and-off war against a neighbouring country since 2007 with the goal to exterminate that other country, and now they went too far and lost. \n\nThis is the consequence of waging war on a far stronger coubtry - you lose and get effed.\n\nAnd most of their resident want this war to continue (according to polls. I didnt ask them all myself) so the fate of whatever coubtry they want to have again will be the same.\n\nThe problem is with the Gazan mentality that leads to their govermental mentality , which is all-or-nothing. No pragmatic solution and no desire to co-exist. \nTheir refugee status is their fault and the aolution is to slowly replace the mentality. Since can not be done by them alone. It's obvious that you have never lived outside of Canada. Canada is probably one of the last countries in the world that accepts people for who they are and has a decent level of respect for belief systems. I get that you want to raise your children in a better environment, but trust me when I tell you this... you are walking into a world of disappointment. Canada itself is about 15 years behind other countries when it comes to this downwards spiral you are speaking of. Sadly, you will find out soon enough that this utopia you want to find, simply doesn't exist and you will discover you have left the variable comforts and safety of Canada behind. I'm not trying to burst your bubble, but am simply sharing what I discovered when I searched for the same things. I think L. Frank Baum said it best.... if I ever go looking for my heart's desire again, I won't look any further than my own back yard. If you are lucky in life you will discover that the world doesn't stop turning for you, and that the world that you dream of for your children must be created from within. That being said, it is good to travel and trying different ways of living is a wonderful education for your children. Normal people are desiring to move to more traditional countries, be they Muslims or Christians. As a Christian, I have no interest in staying in Canada. It is fast becoming Sodom and Gomorrah.

American expat in Germany here. The tax/salary problem is the same here. \n\nEvery cool place has been overrun with people seeking to move there. I say this as someone doing exactly that, so please don’t think this is “anti immigrant” or anything like that; my spouse is an immigrant. The same thing has happened to cities where everyone from the home country tries to move there from the “uncool” suburbs. \n\nSlowly, then suddenly all at once, the affordable housing vanishes, any government appointment is impossible to get, jobs get scarce, and taxes go up. \n\nBig respect to immigrants, newcomers, and to weary, crowded, overtaxed locals alike. There is just no way to preserve any desirable place when x-million people move there.
