Canada's GDP per capita has been decreasing for quite a while now. The only thing keeping Canada's GDP up is the very high immigration. Without it, Canada would be in a recession right now. This is why, even though the stock market might show growth, most Canadians (and Americans) don't feel it -- because the economy isn't doing great for most people in reality. At least there is some solace in the fact that, once the recession really hits, there is bound to be a recovery.

Basically these kind of things happen when the economy is starting to go south, more crimes and scams are coming as the situation get worsen. This new era of chaos begins back since covid time, and will probably last for this decade. Hopefully, i am all wrong on this. I’ll give my honest opinion. I have stayed in Canada for 3 years from 2018 - 2021 during which I have also worked there. The good thing about that country is almost no pollution and less population and the people are also friendly. However, the costs of housing, medical and other expenses have risen considerably and it’s very difficult to save money and enjoy life freely. The big cities like Toronto and Vancouver are out of reach for the students in terms of rent. Also my own roommate was a victim of crime as 2 college students robbed him and fortunately he only suffered minor injuries. There is also shortage of jobs due to recession. Even though there are many problems in India but in today’s time the best country to live is India!! ????

Nope..because half of the time in a year your land is covered with ice..so how do you survive without food in winter? basically you guys sell your things and services to other countries and survive on that..being the second largest consumer in the world..we indians are adding values to your GDP from years..and the facilities you are shouting after the most, the free food, the free shelter, the free dentist provided by your country is earned by your country from other countries..but do we survive on your products and services? I'd be careful about mentioning an increase in immigration as a source of a problem here without providing any evidence of how that's specifically harmful. \n\nYes, we have an influx in international students - often underinformed young people scouted by private companies in places like India who are gravely mislead on what to expect once arriving in Canada. International students specifically are facing tons of injustice and being used as cash cows by companies and our government, since international tuition is much higher than domestic tuition. \n\nBut right now, skilled immigrants are helping build our cities back up. It takes a lot of people to plan, design and build infrastructure, to repopulate failing systems (cough cough, healthcare), etc. We're in a recession and individual industries are struggling a lot right now - but not because of immigrant workers. In fact, they are picking up slack, taking jobs no one else wants to do, and keeping the gears of our society turning.

I understand this is an economics channel, but saying that NO ONE wants to live in Canada because of 3 issues with the economy that most developed countries in the world are dealing w/ is kinda stupid (It's almost like most of the world is in a recession.?) As much as I don’t like the guy, it’s misguided saying it’s only Trudeau. Is he the solution? Not likely, but it’s a start. The issue is accountability from the provincial governments who have low voter turnout, and are allergic to investing in diversified transportation or fixing housing, or immigration laws, and taxing rich people more and god forbid they update their labour and health system. So much of these issues were present for years before he was elected, because the country just voted to get out of the recession and cut a ridiculous amount of funding. The Harper years were terrible, people forget that. He wanted to ban abortions. That’s the future his party wants. I think they need a coalition government, badly and to turn it on the provinces to come up with plans before asking for money.

It is probably right that the canadian economy is not at its best, but you mix the charts with conclusions without any causation. You explain it like the canadian economy is in a recession, but it’s not according to various sources. I would like to have a more differentiated picture with all the bad and positive sides.

If Canada continuous at this rate, they're not going to have many native Canadian workers at this point staying in their native country. They would even be embarrassed and refuse to fly the Canadian Flag, if the US flag gives them more opportunities than Canada does. And to be honest, at this point they could end up in a much worse recession than they were in 2008, but that's just me.

I came in the 80s to canada as a landed immigrant which is equivalent to a PR now. Life was much easier for newcomers then to start. Jobs were readily available and with a good command of the English language and a broader mind to accept other cultures and people i felt the adaptation was good. As for the struggles i had lots of patience and didn't mind doing my own chores. Cook clean at home and work in a 9 to 5 office job. I even volunteered as a Sunday school teacher to young children. I also kept my hobby as an artist. It depends on ones courage and patience and ability to adapt in a foreign country. Canada was the best decision i took for me and my family especially my children who graduated here.yes now i am retired over 60 and yes i do spend time abroad including india while it snows here? after covid and the ongoing wars and the recession around the world life is not the same in any part of the world. You have to make the best decision for your particular situation you are in. I never regretted coming to Canada ??.

Even tho most Canadians in the earlier years were mostly white, it was multicultural because they all came from many other countries and cultures. They still held on to their traditions but yet also formed a Canadian culture.\nTheir was a huge population of Chinese people too. They stuck together in large areas, many didn't speak english. Similar to Quebec maybe. They mostly spoke french and I remember a time when they didn't really like english speaking whites around. Seems like the premier would like it to stay that way. Protecting the culture. \nIn the 80's on the west coast I watched thousands of Sikh's and Punjabi's and similar move into large areas and take over many jobs in large companies. Lumber mills, rail yards, papermills and so on. I went to one job interview and outside the office window was a whole shift of people wearing turbans. Must have been 50 to a 100 of them. 3 years earlier when I toured that place in grade 12, it was all white people. What happened? That was around the time of the recession and jobs were getting scarce. The only people in line for job interviews were white people and the interviewers would not accept anyone without grade 12 and previous experience. Here is what I overheard as people were getting interviewed, Experience? No. NEXT. Experience? Yes. Graduate? No. NEXT!\nAfter 6 months of this I moved to oil country Alberta and Had 6 job call backs in the first day. At 2 to 3 times the pay I would have had in BC. Never looked back. But now that the industry has been attacked and the immigration has skyrocketed, Alberta is in decline.\nJust my 2 cents worth, and the people I mentioned back then, I have nothing against. I knew many and they were good people. \nBut the immigrants of today I feel to many are of another breed and not the same as before them.

What a great video. For my personal experience the current recession and how it has affected the job market and the interest rates (inflation) is the root cause of all this. I also came as student BEFORE COVID and it was also hard to study and work to keep up with your basic expenses BUT at least there were jobs. Now the problem is the lack of jobs. Criminality is very relative and as you mentioned depends of your own expectation and environment prior arriving to Canada. The homeless and drug adicts problem is really concerning, specially here in Vancouver where I live. What I do is avoiding the downtown as much as I can. I would not mind to live in a smaller city or town as long as the salaries are good enough however the problem is that the living cost there are as high as here in the cities.

Right now is probably the worst time to come here. With global recession and post-pandemic hardship, everyone is feeling the pinch. Small businesses are closing down as they could not repay back the relief loans given by the government during the pandemic. Trudeau’s policy of immigration through the educational stream and admitting so many refugees from Syria and Ukraine have caused massive rent increase - too many people chasing after lower real estate supply. Because people are feeling the pinch, crimes are up and homelessness has become a serious issue. I live in greater Toronto, and sometimes we forget to lock our door at night or leave a bicycle outside and nothing happens;\n- commitment to the environment - the country adheres to protecting the envt. You can drink water from the faucet. Strict laws on recycling and waste disposal. Greenbelt protection on forest and conservation park areas, even in the cities. Canada also has the world’s biggest water supply...in today’s global climate change, were decades away from water wars;\n- a beautiful country with friendly, humble and relaxed people who observe work-life balance
