It is very interesting to observe how demographics have changed over the decades.When I first arrived in Canada in 1972 (51 years ago), the Indians were almost invisible, it would be an extraordinary sight to see one. Now, they are all over the place and there is no housing by the way. But yes, it's the student visas that have saturated the system and now the inept government is scrambling to find solutions to the housing problem that has ballooned. I get CPP and old age pension but have to continue working due to the high cost of living, it is ridiculous.

Isn't it usually the government's fault for impeding new housing projects? The free market would have responded to the increase in housing demand rapidly without the bureaucracy. Of course, although I say free market, building codes, safety regulations, and sustainability should still be followed. But the bottleneck to more housing is usually government control/special interest groups, and not engineering challenges, which have mostly been solved.

I am not Muslim but Canada is still a great country. A Muslim country will be a huge change and it does depend on the country. I lived in Morocco for 2 years and you are judged by your money. Really snobby people. They hate the poor and there are lots of poor people. Cost of Living has also increased. Lovely climate. No job opportunities for young people. I worked in Dubai for 6 months. All bling and only the 20 % have any proper say. Spent a holiday in Oman. Woman still kept back. Also might get caught up in Middle East conflict. Canada is built on false promises to lure in immigrants to have them work for cheaper while ignoring it's own citizens. People immigrate to Canada because they failed to succeed in their own countries. Many of them have fake degrees. . I have met many of them at work who know little about what they claim their degree is in. A wealthy businessperson in South America or Asia has no interest in relocating to Canada. Why would someone leave a tropical paradise and come to Canada unless they're a nobody in their own country.

Yeah job security is an important factor I think those of us who are in IT and have been 'sacked' as someone here in another comment mentioned feel the brunt when you know that Canadian companies are looking elsewhere for cheaper labor. A better question would whether or not he thinks Hamas governs the Gaza Strip in the best interest of the Palestinian people. And if so, which policies does he believe should be adopted by Saudi Arabia. They followed through, and Federal Finance Minister Bill Morneau sent a detailed response, signed by him but likely written by his staff, explaining the revised criteria and suggesting other potential programs. Provincially, my MP's staff guided me through various programs. Ultimately, I received nearly everything I needed to survive and potentially thrive through the pandemic (to be confirmed in 2024).\n\nTaxes are high, but I feel safe in Quebec City. As a Christian when it comes to drunkenness and disorder and modesty and other moral issues I would agree with these people trying to clean up the community, just that as a Christian we would have a different approach. What is actually causing the problems in Canada is PRECISELY the expectations of a high standard of living absolutely everyone has, including brand new immigrants. Who as if they were owed a palace immediately begin complaining about the work they have to do and the fact they're not immediately appointed the king of Canada. To put simply, we have an incredibly spoiled population, a population that expects low prices for everything and has a terrible productivity overall and does not wish to work in the kinds of jobs that every economy needs in order to fuel everything else. Food production is the so-called inceptive value. The more food you produce, the more people can consume it, and this in turn flows through the economy to enable all the other kinds of economic activity. We have to bring in hundreds of thousands of temporary foreign workers from Mexico just to be able to harvest. In the past, Canada allowed immigration from all over the world of people who were mostly poor, refugees, and those desperate for a new life. They worked all the time doing every kind of imaginable job in every kind of condition. They built this country with their perseverance and hard work. The immigrants today, are selected on a points-based system, and the idea behind this is that someone with two university degrees, or trained in a profession, even if they don't work in their field in Canada because they're all sorts of barriers to transferring your education, are not very likely to be criminals or antisocial types. In other words, Canada has chosen to attract high quality candidates on the assumption that they would be less likely to become criminals, while they in turn, having been picked from the best in their society, arrive in Canada with very high expectations, and discover that actually they're going to have to work in all sorts of other kinds of jobs and will probably not work in their field, even though that's what got them the points to come to the country. This is the brilliant system brought in by Stephen Harper's conservatives, which brings in people with high education, and allegedly high skills, especially high language skills, so the government doesn't have to pay for their language training, but it doesn't consider the fact that these are very often people with other choices, who are not willing to work in construction or farming or service or retail or all those kinds of things that we desperately need workers in. The reason why we can't build enough housing has nothing to do with local governments and property values. It has to do with lack of labor. This education system, for some unbeknowned reason, is absolutely terrible, and provides basically no skills, training or education for the vast majority of high school students such that when they graduate high school, their forced to go to university or college. Since they have absolutely no training. In most parts of the world you finish high school and you have a trade, or you have some skill to begin working, the kids here know nothing. Nothing. Other than emotional safety, intersectional language, and wokeism. On top of that, the government has brought in every kind of environmental restriction and regulation on account of incredibly loud, but actually small minority of enviro lunatics, who most of the time use these environmentalism as a cover precisely for protecting their high property values in very luxurious and special places around the country, and they oppose logging and all sorts of resource extraction under the guise of environmentalism. But it's actually to preserve their special privileged position often in some wilderness or island, where they might be the only one or a handful of families who got lucky to somehow own a property. Property and so they oppose everything on account of environmental reasons. But it's just to keep people out and preserve their own privileged place. This country also as most others suffers from the illness of dishonesty and lack of integrity brought about by a culture of marketers where nothing is the way it is said to be. A South African who lived there a few years. Nothing felt better than getting on the plane to leave, and knowing I will never have to return. Even South Africa with the crime and load shedding is by far better. In many ways a man is more free here even if i have to live behind security systems. I can speak my mind without fear of some PC police and censorship, which is far worse prison. My standard of living is also far better here. I can ride my bikes as I please where in Canada I can only ride a few months and would lose my license in a month due to BS fines. And the people here are much more open and truly hospitable, not some fake politeness. I even missed the blacks here, who at least i can joke and chat with far easier than with canadians. I found I have more in common with black africans than with white canadians who look like me and speak the same language. We may have the same skin colour but are totally different in culture. It made me realise I am more african than western, proud of it, and I would prefer to live and die with the african sun on my face with wide open space, than in some dark, cold, gloomy place living in cramped quarters in some libtard paradise constrained by so many laws. Its interesting that as soon as the US government decided that monopolies where great, things started to fall apart here too. Housing prices are out of control, and homelessness is increasing - along with laws victimizing homeless people. Its like the people who run these companies are mentally ill. They want customers and employees, but they do everything they can to destroy or drive away everyone who could become a customer or employee.\n\nI was lucky to buy something before housing prices went insane. But now there's no way to move anymore because renting is too expensive, and investors just out bid everyone and drive up the prices. I really prefer renting, and I used to always move to be near my current job. But for my next job I would have to waste 15 hours a week to drive to a job I could do just as well at home. I wish the media would quit quoting MEDIAN home values. That is practically worthless when trying to inform. Median value is just the number that is halfway between the lowest and highest. Mean value is the average of all home values. Mode is the most repeated value. Buying a house for $400,000 extinguishes my interest in buying another house. When I retire, maybe I'll sell everything and buy an RV and go nomad. No property tax.\n\nOut of all the Canadian Provinces, I think I would move to Alberta. But retiring to Nova Scotia sounds pretty good.

Looking at current situation in housing market, interest rates, food prices, think about if those 30 to 40% would have not left the country.

Hi Tyler ~ As this is a “younger” demographic…I was wondering if you could do a comparison with an older demographic - such as the who go to Florida and Arizona, as well as, a few other places, such as Palm Springs during the colder months. If they happen to be there for Christmas ~ CANUCKS (what Canadians refer to another Canadian) usually gather, close a few blocks of the neighbourhood and have Christmas dinner, then there’s Bonfire Night with fireworks in November (for the NEWFOUNDLANDERS that go to Florida), New Years celebrations is another. I could go on, as I have family that live 3/4 of the year in Canada and go to their southern homes for 3-4 max months of the winter. It would definitely be interesting on their perspective, as they can travel and interact with all demographics of society…including the police…as well as, their experiences with ** in the USA!\n\nCheers??☺??
