As a South African, I want to say that this trade war, as well as the hostile approach of Trump towards Canada, is devastating. If one were not experiencing it directly, it would be almost impossible to believe. This is such a remarkable speech that it will go down in history as one of the truly great speeches in times of crisis. It is entirely correct to address the American and Canadian peoples directly, as the Prime Minister has done. They are both clear victims of this madness, Americans misled, and Canadians the target, of this senseless trade war. If one reads History, there is another dimension to this, and I hate to say it. Build products that other countries want at a price that makes sense. The EU has no laws that prevent American car manufacturers from selling their cars in Europe. American car companies make shitty cars. They make cars that are too big, that don't make sense for European where streets can be very small and gas is very expensive. The US manufacturers don't make a single small car in thos country that can compete with European cars. US agricultural products are laced with poisonous chemicals that are outlawed in the EU because they kill people. Our governmeent doesn't give a shit about that because to grow healthy food means you have to cut profits, almighty dollars, instead of grow things that the rest of the world will accept. We have an idiot for president who thinks he knows more than anyone else and an idiot party that won't tell him the truth. This is going to cost us big time. We are going into recession, probably a long one because we don't have real leaders and the president on his best day is nothing more than a reality TV personality, and not a very entertaining one at that.

What has Canada and European countries done to actually try and end the death and destruction from this war? Europe buys energy from Russia, and Canada is only giving 650 million dollars in weapons over three years, while America has supplied hundreds of billions of dollars in aid and military equipment. Zelensky goes around the world dressed in a military outfit with no desire to stop the slaughter of humans on both sides. There have been thousands of wars where, eventually, one side has to accept the reality that they can not win, Zelensky is unwilling to see this. President Trump was elected because we want his AMERICA FIRST AGENDA, and with us saddled with 36 TRILLION dollars of debt, this war needs to stop.

You mention that Americans are 30% more expensive than Canadians but you dont mention that the US is far more unequal with a Gini coefficient of 0.41 vs 0.35 in Canada. Now there is also a known issue with using GDP data to calculate productivity and that is that in sme countries the labor of GDP is much lower than in others. You then end up with Irish productivity being the second highest in the world only because most large US corporations operating in the EU register there to pay lower taxes but most of that revenue is just on paper for Ireland. or with Guyana whose oil and mining revenue makes it productivity equal to that of the US. Maybe that is the case, but is it? and if so why is the average wage in Guyana so much lower? so choosing only one specific stat can make any point of view seem true. you have to look at the bigger picture.\nnow the issue is Canada has been getting more unequal but it is still much better than the US. so what it means is that the higher worker productivity in the US benefits corporations and billionaires far more than it benefits the average American. now if we compare cost of living say between NYC and Toronto:\nCost of Living in Toronto is 37.5% lower than in New York, NY (without rent) \nCost of Living Including Rent in Toronto is 47.1% lower than in New York, NY \nRent Prices in Toronto are 59.2% lower than in New York, NY \nRestaurant Prices in Toronto are 34.5% lower than in New York, NY \nGroceries Prices in Toronto are 33.0% lower than in New York, NY \nLocal Purchasing Power in Toronto is 7.2% higher than in New York, NY \nand this is similar when comparing almost all large Canadian cities with a comparable US one. And whilst housing and NIMBYIsm is real issue you have very similar issues in the US which also has almost no mix zoning. But throw in safety nets and go ask Canadians if they want to change for the US system. I doubt most will. Sure some want things to change but some assuming everyone wants an ultra capitalistic society. most are ok with less growth ut better balanced growth (the exact opposite of the boom and bust US model)

They had in their eyes a good thing. They had work and owned their home. None of them wanted to risk that so they kept things the same for the past 3 decades or so. We just had an election in Ontario and basically nothing changed. Ontario has been one of the worst performing provinces in Canada for the majority of Doug Ford's mandate over Ontario but people seemingly don't care enough to want change. One of the major problems with Canada in terms of politics is that the aging population has some of the largest block of voters and can pretty much overrule anything that would benefit the younger generation if it would hurt their investments.

Got bit by a spider and ended up septic. In hospital for two weeks five blood transfusions. Two knee replacements. Hernia surgery. One child and we stayed in hospital three nights because he had a few issues. Went to Detroit for a surgery that wasn’t approved in Canada but Canada paid me back every penny including hotel costs. Out of all of the above I paid zero!!!! I was actually grouchy for only one min cuz I had to pay 20 bucks for the crutches. lol love my country and wouldn’t want to live anywhere else. I recently watched a You Tube video from a couple, who had never been in Canada, it was quite amazing, think it was called something Southern or so. one of the main things, the gentleman was looking for is they had travelled from the west trough Toronto to the East and threw their arms up, saying, where are all the police, they had only seen 1 cop car in the city on their visit. secondly, he was dissappointed he could see where the hoods were, he wanted to see the Crackheads. (we dont have hoods like they do in the US)., another thing was he was sad because he couldnt find any Moose while they were driving from Niagara Falls to Toronto. No one wants to live in Canada anymore because it's no longer land of the free it's home of who ever bitches the loudest gets there way. And for really I'm not sure there's a whole lot of Canadians in Canada not if u look around

Wow, this guy is very intelligent, he puts some clips he loaded from news or the Internet and unloaded them here to bait the people. They are coming by the thousands but the video shows only a few people. First thing is, people crossing into the USA, it's not upto canada to stop them. If somone enters canada from the USA then its upto canada to stop them from entering, not the USA. If sombody crosses into USA then it's upto USA to block them..\n\nMost of the content in this video is false. People are always trying to cross into other countries illegally, but it's upto the other countries border security to stop them and send them back..\n\nWhat a lie about the bus waiting for these people at the crossing points. LoL...sure sure..\n\nIce is nothing but a reality show, very little reality but it's entertaining to watch because people think it's real. Lol...\n\nTrump used cheap labor to built his Empire. do you guys think he hired Americans to built his luxury hotels, casinos, towers etc? If you have a business, are you going to hire expansive labor or cheap labour? If you wanna make BIG profits then you knkw who you'd be hiring. Face it. Do not feel sorry for Canada. I am Canadian. Canadians voted for the Liberal Socialist Government they have 3 times. The youth wanted marijuana legalized. The union governments wanted to tax the corporation to be the highest of the G-7, tax their citizens, attack investors, to fund their rediculous social programs, paid sick days, stat holidays, benefits, pension plans etc .....and now no one in their right mind would open a business or invest in Canada..... No, Canadians are getting what they voted for and deserve....Good Luck to them, I have found a new and friendly country to do business and invest in. Oh, and it has beautiful weather all year round. You could not pay me enough to invest in Canada again:)
