I came to Saskatchewan Canada as an international student in fall 2023. I did a care assistant program and was attracted to coming to Canada because I kept hearing that there is a labour shortage in healthcare in Canada. However I feel like everything just started going to sh*t in 2024 when I was finishing up my program ?.\n\n One of the things I'd like to highlight about the small towns is that they can be very biased in their hiring practices. Some of us as (black) students had a hard time getting jobs in healthcare in the town because jobs were given based on family and friend linkages (so mostly white or Filipino people got hired). Also there was a severe housing shortage. So even though locals (from my perception) wanted us to stay and work in healthcare (because they are short staffed), realistically there was no where to stay. Canada can't say it wants people in more rural areas and not improve housing in those areas as well. I have honestly been rather disappointed with Canada because I expected better planning from a developed country.

Why would you want to extend your work permit? You are a student and you should be going back to India after you finish your study and before your visa expires unless you get visa sponsorship. India is a democratic country with freedom. It's not like Ukraine. What's the point of staying in Canada??

You finish your studies, you go home. Simple as that.

Student visa means for studying not for permanent residents. Students need to go back to their country after they finished their studies and not stay in the country illegally

Our Universities are heavily subsidized and Nurses and Doctors take advantage of this, If Trudeau/Pierre wants to stop our doctors and nurses who graduate going to the USA right after school, They should make them pay back the portion of their education that the taxpayers paid for and never received any healthcare from, It should be you have to work in Canada after graduating for 5 years before moving out of Canada, and if they do, then they pay around $150,000 to break the contract compounded with interest from when they started and finished university/college. I know someone who graduated Nursing in the 1990's, She went to a convention in Toronto, Where she was quickly swayed to move the USA, Its because Nursing here is a 3yr course in the USA its a 6 month course, they aren't educated nearly as much as Canadians, A Canadian nurse can be a GP in rural areas of the USA, Also the Nurse I know within a year was made head nurse of her ward, Bypassing USA Nurses that have been working at the hospital for 10+ years, due to the extra education, This is a big problem, we are educating Nurses and Doctors for the USA and other Nations funded by Taxpayers, Sure Nurses and Doctors do also pay some, but its closer to 1/3 of the actual cost, the other 2/3rd's is taxpayer funded. She's still working in the USA and still never helped 1 single Canadian. 30yrs later!!. I don't know about you, But I think this needs to be addressed and fixed once and for all.

There are too many fake international students...they come for work permit. Legitimate IS are the ones studying in universities to get a degree and go home once they are finished.

Doing the opposite causes friction and even arguments where customers explicitly say: “Please don’t talk over me, listen to me first.”\nPutting myself in the shoes of a hiring manager who is culturally Canadian, knowing that Canadians are very risk averse and kept to themselves: Why would I stir the pot in the workplace by bringing in a foreign worker who may have internalized habits that are seen as rude and abrupt?\nIt’s not only about English skills, degrees, who does things faster, etc., but cultural awareness. If you don’t take the time to learn about the culture of the place you are migrating to and/or expect that locals welcome habits that could be perceived as rude and shocking to most Canadians, you are going to limit your network to only people in your cultural group - which will definitely hinder opportunities for growth. Don’t make the mistake of assuming that everybody thinks and acts the same as you do.

I came in Germany five years ago, learned the language perfectly, finished my Masters after dealing with unbelievable stress with Ausländeramt, got a job finally in a IT field, will receive my unlimited residence soon, and im looking forward to live in another country in Europe or in the world. I found an apartment with the help of the application.\nI was separated from my family for 14 months, but we managed to reunite. We also found a place for our son in kindergarten.\nMy German level is A2. When I needed to, I used the English language in government offices as well. People also understood my level of German. None were angry that my language level was not higher, but I managed to finish everything so far.\nI can say that all my experiences so far have been positive, I tried to respect my appointments.\nIn perspective, it would be beneficial for Germany to use English more because a qualified worker, if he has to choose between a country with English or Germany with German, will choose English first.\nThe German language is wonderful, but the world simply works in English and that's how it is.\nAlthough it would also be useful for those of us who came to Germany to learn more German for better business opportunities. Investing in knowledge and openness is beneficial for all parties.
