If you move to rural areas of Canada its not that bad. Most of the Canadians commenting here I assume are the 80% who live in metro areas. Healthcare though is a problem, my inlaws in rural Quebec struggle to see a doctor often

Please anyone watching this do not take it as fact. Pretty much got all of it wrong. Fishing and Hunting in Nova Scotia and cold? Can live in Vancouver for $50,000/year?? Alberta is way more than Agriculture, oil and gas. Also quite a few more cities than just Calgary. Toronto is getting worse every year. People are leaving the city because it is so expensive to live there. Quebec is getting up there with cost of living along with the taxes. Vancouver Island, yes mild in the winter compared to the rest of Canada but jobs are hard to come by which is why a lot of people retire there.

Bullshit… the 3 worst provinces to live in are Quebec, British Columbia and Ontario due to explosion in criminality and drugs addictions.

Nice video, yet I find that you talk a lot about number differences with the USA and other countries and fail to explain how these differences are lived inside Canada. \n\nAfter lockdowns, I left the urban centres of the Quebec-Windsor corridor to settle in maritime Canada, and life here is very unique. \n\nFog, snow, rain, winds, ice, fires, every thing is very local. The closest chain restaurant like Tim Hortons is more than 1hour away by car. Anyday the roads can be closed, the ferries cancelled, isolating tens of thousands of people. Although most Canadians live in large urban centres, and don't have to deal with these issues, there is still a large population living in radically isolated areas.

We are still the most welcoming country in the world. We are very open minded and welcoming people. When I lived abroad, I adapted to their culture and did not impose my own. I think this is totally normal, obviously you don't. You also made a pretty racist comment about Quebec, that Canada is letting us get away with this? I seriously think you are racist, think about it.

I live in Ontario and everything is expensive and Toronto is really boring. We have lots of transit projects but they are all delayed. We have too much politics in Canada. Quebec is too frenchy, our National Train Service VIA Rail is outrageously expensive

Maybe it's cause she went to a province that was more insular and homogeneous. I heard in Quebec mostly they can be that way . I imagine living in Canada would be similar to the Pacific Northwest states . I have some friends who are Hoosiers (rednecks) from up north . It is illegal in Quebec to get a blood test! cant find a clinic to see a Doctor and can find an affordable apartment and I am never selected for the expensive one when I visit them to live in I have no choice but to rent a room at $600/month, this country is collapsing

As a Jamaican Canadian I experience some anti-black racism all my life. The worst was at a few workplaces and a couple of visits to Montreal. I live in Toronto and it's here to, but not that bad. the western provinces besides BC are the worst. Quebec and the Atlantic provinces are also bad. My advice to all my brothas and sistahs that want to live in Canada is that you live in the GTA in Ontario. One other thing Do not live in Brampton, or you will be discriminated by another immigrant group which I won't say but some know.

I’m a visible minority (East Indian) and lived/worked in Calgary, Alberta for 15 years as an executive in a mining company. I never once felt discriminated against. As a matter of fact, it was a great place to live in that regard. I lived in Quebec City for over 20 years. I can only recall about 1/2 dozen racially related negative events there - but it was also a very long time ago.

Quebec definitely is the best Canadian province. I lived there (in Montreal) for 5 years and now I am living in Vancouver (10 months). I look forward to my return home to Montreal.

As a Canadian myself living in this country for over 30 years... the problem here is that Canada have a diversed industry but because the country itself is so small (population wise) that none of these industries reached economies of scale. While Canada has regions rich with natural resources, all they do is extracted it, sell it to U.S. and then buy the producted that was produced by these raw materials back at a higher cost. The political structure of Canada doesn't help either: Each region essencially specialized in a few industries (Alberta Oil, Ontario Finance, the Alantic provice's fisheries and oil refineries) and there's equalization payment... meaning if one province is doing well... they don't get to reinvest it back into its infrastructure but rather have to spread some of the excess revenue to other failing provinces... this doesn't incentized productivity but rather leads to a race to the bottom where provinces would want to spend their way to get some of that equalization payment money. Also the provinces themselves doesn't have a unifying economic agenda... Alberta's oil could be best served to be refined out east and then shipped but British Columbia doesn't want pipelines and oil shipping facilities on their coastline... and Quebec isn't interested in having a pipeline either so there's nowhere by the oil but to go down to the states. Finally the province of Quebec( which is french speaking and have their own culture and language) isn't interested in the overall prosperity of Canada at all but rather to extract as much special privilages, rights, and money from the Federal government... and even to declare independance from the Rest of Canada.

We have the natural resources to create energy. Yet Trudeau put a stop to anything that could earn Canada money. With the regulations in place we could produce energy a lot more greener than other countries. Wouldn’t it be better if we have our own oil that is produce cleanly than to rely on other country that don’t care about environmental issues? It’s so simple yet the people have been brainwashed by this government. I live in Quebec and we have so much potential energy wise and we do nothing. Frustrating.

The best part of Quebec is that it keeps out the ppl that always make excuses with their lives. then dont be lazy and try a little if you dont know French. I’m happy I watched this because I have been wondering about this depression wave that is in this country if I was the only one feeling it. All these points are valid. Don’t get me wrong canada is a beautiful place and give you access to learning and living with many different cultures which one of the things I love. But all these points these ladies stated just prove that I wasn’t just overthinking. Sometimes this place feels like an open prison tbh, specially Quebec which is the highest taxed province. It’s literally a life of work, pay your bills, feed yourself and work again. 2weeks vacation in a year of work, with 8 off days a month, isn’t enough for the brain and well being of someone. One find themselves doing everything under pressure because of the trauma that many jobs have created. People will walk under a storm, rain, thunder, you name it! just so they can earn that 130 a day.(using the minimum wage,). The gouvernement does it best to put all these programs in place, but no one want to always feel like your life is being controlled because you need a 1000$ check every month. People get tired of this dependency as well. The whole is thing is just depressing ?

I'm from Alberta and think this is the best place to live and not Quebec who force us to put french on half of everything but they have the nerve to force everyone to speak french and then cry's and wines if anyone makes any kind of complaint about it. i live in Montreal and i was informed last week that my doctor of the past 15 years ,at my clinic in Montreal , will only take care of these asylum migrants. ... I am a candian citizen , born and raised in Quebec , i have been paying my taxes for the past 10 years in Canada and my ancestors have been living here for the past 450 years.. All these people have access to a doctor for free , not me anymore. About 45,000 arrived inMontreal in 2022 and only 5, 000 transferred to Ontario and maritimes . So still more 40, 000 in Monttreal and those who crossed since the beginning of this year.

In Quebec we already have over 40000 of these illegals living on government checks, taking space during a housing crisis, taking healthcare when the system is overloaded, sending their children to overloaded schools (Relative to the numbers of teachers) with them not contributing at all... they are making it harder for people to have families during a period of low birthrates. Even legal migrants aren't contributing to key jobs, they come here, try to get elite positions and cry about racism when they don't get them, go to university with the help of the government while most natives cannot even dream of higher education.\n\nMass migration in Canada is an epic failure in a time when we aren't supposed to mess up.

Excessive population growth and density is always the cause of poverty. Justin has skyrocketed immigration. Productive immigrants canadians move on to the US leaving Canada with chronic doctor and housing shortages. The remaining immigrants like the rest of the unproductive majority reduce productivity and standard of living. English was founded by people who thought the American Revolution was too risky. Hence the lack of telecom competition and restrictive loan practices of the big 5. As individualists we are almost as judgemental as Americans towards undisciplined clans- Russians, blacks, amer-indians,... Quebec is as different as two European peoples can be.

Do yourself a favour and stay in the US. Trust me, you will regret picking Canada. Our shelter costs here are absurd and we have a government that flirts with communism. People easily give up their freedoms for safety. Broken health care system. Chaotic place with a lack of cultural identity, selfish people, divided country. Full of woke virtue signallers. Our young generations hate the old. Western canada and quebec don't even like the rest of Canada. Divided place with crime rates quickly rising, country is quickly turning into a dumpster fire. It's a good place though if you are a boomer because you just keep feeding off the younger generation and the immigration keeps pushing up home equity that you can use as an ATM. They are running towards a different kind of poverty here. Some of the places they are running from (mexico), economically have potentially brighter futures than here. The kids might be kicking the parents for this when they get older and see the places where they came from, have better standards of living than the place they fled too. India included, they have the potential to become an economic power house. We hardly produce anything here, and our government chokes off our natural resource exports. We have too big of government, too many regulations, too many taxes. Who would do business in Canada? Name a Canadian company other than shopify. Blackberry... Oh wait its dead. Quebec (montreal): Medical care, any public services rude, irresponsive and bureaucracy sucks n complicated (example: people wait for uncertainty just to renew their driving license), THE CRUELEST THING IN QUEBEC INCLUDING MONTREAL IS MEDICAL SERVICES (my god reminds me of third world countries i have ever been in), they will just ignore you heartlessly even if you have RAMQ (quebec heath care coverage), u have to have family doctor n u have to sign up to get one IN UNCERTAIN TIME, some they get family doctor within 3 years, others 5,7 years so on so forth so uncertain, so if u dont have family doctor u wont get treated, and if u have family doctor u will hve to stick to where your family doctor works at only, and to get appointment at some clinic they will put you on wait for some days or even weeks if u get the availability slots for u, if u got emergency u will wait 8,10,12 or 14 hours in pain. I feel bad for montreal citizen i swear, they r so patient with all of this while the tax is one of highest in canada. \n\nNow for rental (apartment in general), the check is crazy long it takes around 2 weeks just to rent, if u r lucky u will get taken if u r not then the landlord will take others, the 1 year lease means 1 year, so far to my experience in alberta like for example, 1 year lease but minimum period u have to stay usually around 3-6 months n after that u can leave with notice to the landlord to vacate the unit. \n\nBut in montreal, u have to find other person to transfer the lease, n if u found the person like i told u earlier, the landlord will check the person n the approval/ disapproval is by the landlord. I had to stay for one year living like hell cause the neighbors freaking so loud n partying every week end night till dawn. Couldn’t even have good sleep for work, so I called 911 two times, the police couldn’t do anything, yet the landlord n the building management kept on saying that they gave warning etc to that tenant, but they didn’t take any further action toward that, n i know they dont care, they care only for money. When i started to file complaint to the TAL(quebec rental board, they r irresponsive, complicated procedures, n in the end they dont solve any problem, on their site said that renter or landlord has to retain lawyer, the hell they r there for then? \n\nThe apartment building is tiny, tight old, the wall is thin, u can hear everything from your neighbour upstair, downstair n on your side too.. \n\nMONTREAL IS ALSO SO DENSED AND TIGHT, the main road so tight with cars parked on both sides of the road to ways only one lane on each way, cos mostly apartment building they dont provide parking spot, so they have to park on the road side, i feel bad for the bus driver i swear, with snow mounting on both side of the road makes driving bus is just so stressful, almost every neighbourhood looks dirty, trashes, people littering every where. Im Not complaining but that’s what it is, im living in montreal currently for more than one year but im just gonna move out of here lol

gotta agree with the assessment. Due to the cost of living I been scoping out either alberta (calgary) or quebec (Quebec city), and even with quebec's outrageous tax rate, it's just better than calgary in quality of life.

As a Canadian who has lived in 5 different provinces , I would rank British Columbia, Nova Scotia and Quebec as the 3 best . All provinces have their \npros and cons , but your opinions are very slanted. You are very negative on some provinces and not positive enough to show the very good aspects of others. You can find good and parts of all provinces . You mention the snow and cold of some places , all the Prarie provinces are very cold in winter especially Alberta and Ontario has a very heavy snowfall. Also Ontario has a high crime rate now and a huge population. Driving through Winnipeg in summer, I thought was a very pretty city. You also skipped over the beauty of our west coast. I find your list of provinces is very much lacking and cou\nld be done much better.

Lived in Canada all my life. Love it. But,,, there is no future here. High taxes, poor government,, low wags, racism is a huge problem, and its not just white peoples. The immigrants can be super racist also. All this crap that Canadians are polite is not real. Its called passive aggression. When a Canadian says sorry if you bump into them in the store ,, they are being sarcastic! “Sorry you are an idiot and made me apologize to you eh!?” We are not nearly as nice as people think. The health care system here is trash! And will never improve. And its NOT free! Canadians get the tar taxed out of them their entire lives! Every single move one makes is taxed! Tax on tax on tax. This pays for our crappy health care. And not so good education system. People here including immigrants, not just white people, can be very racist. Quebec is a particularly racist province! Montreal rents in pretty good and in Quebec in general. Ontario is a fair bit more expensive. However even Ontario rents aren't that bad compared big US cities. Where Canada is really expensive is the cost of *owning* housing. I also don't really agree about food being more expensive in the US, I'd say it's pretty close, maybe even slightly cheaper in the US.\n\nAnd I don't think Columbus, OH would be that bad to live in. Sure, it doesn't have the big city life like Montreal or Toronto or even Vancouver, but it's probably on par with Edmonton, Winnipeg or London, ON or Kitchener-Waterloo? Maybe even like Ottawa, Hamilton or Calgary? (but warmer than all of the above).

Quebec would be the VERY last place in Canada I would want to live. Lived there for several years, and it's the most racist province in Canada.

As a Canadian in the US (Cali)....cost of living is low because you're in Quebec. Toronto/Vancouver....cost of living is definitely not low. Quebec just isn't a high value destination for most people, hence why Montreal hasn't seen the same cost of living increase as the other two major centers. Cali has crazy costs, but we're literally the highest (maybe HI?) in the US, everywhere else is way cheaper. With that said....100% on tap water. San Fran has great tap water....but outside of that I avoid drinking any tap water here in the US :/.

Quebec is completely different in rent prices, I wouldn’t believe that our cost of living in Canada is significantly better than the states.

As a Canadian, living in Ontario but has lived in Quebec, Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. I feel like you have a very Quebec experience with things like rent and cost of living. \nThe rest of Canada is very......Not Quebec and certainly not Montreal.\nSpot on about our expectations of good quality food though.

The socioeconomic flaws are much difficult to compare considering the very foundations that birthed America as well as its intricate and dense population. There are variety of implications that comes to accommodating a diverse population of 380 million which is 10 times the population of Canada (these can also be structural). The rent in Montreal is not as high relative to major urban cities in America simply because of the demand. People simply do not want to live in Montreal at the same rate that they do for places like San Francisco and New York. Moreover, places like New York and San Francisco, (this can also include Toronto/Vancouver), have rigorous rent controls as well as zone restriction laws that limits the capacity for home builders to produce affordable housing, (especially when compared to Quebec). I live in Canada, but I even I must admit that economic success and freedom is much higher in the U.S. Name me another Western country with more african Billionaires/Millionaires than America? Canada is immensely reliant on Government to regulate trade and commerce and due to our lack of entrepreneurial spirit, I expect that we will remain a commodity-based economy for decades. This is especially a sad reality if interest rates continue to rise, as it will negatively impact the purchasing power of our dollar which is indexed to commodities . \n \nCheers,

sAs someone who has experienced living in both America and Canada. One thing I think Aba and Preach forgot to mention is the cost of produce. In Canada and more specifically Montreal the cost of Produce is higher than anywhere else in north America (From my limited experience). A Block of cheese costs a tank of gas. I have lived in a few places around the world and I have to say the cost of food for whatever reason is so much higher in Quebec. Items can easily be twice the price here.

Montreal the cost of living is so low, because it's in Quebec - where little immigration happens. If you compare the cost of living/rent in Toronto/Vancouver and surrounding areas (basically where 25% of Canada's population lives) the cost of living is higher than most areas in the U.S.

You can't compare Montreal to LA lol. LA is 3.8 million people and LA county is 9.8 million. Montreal is 1.8 and the entire Province of Quebec has less population than that single county by more than a million people. \n\nGo to Jefferson County Kentucky. Louisville is a similar size population and you're looking at a drastically lower cost of living. \n\nOf course LA is super expensive. You were right when you said the US is like 50 different countries. But you don't have to go to super rural areas to find low costs of living.

I moved from the U.S. to Canada. Some observations:\n1. It's unbelievably safe in Canada. The most dangerous places in Canada are still very safe compared to much of the U.S.\n2. Outside of DC and New York and I guess Chicago and L.A. in the U.S. and Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver in Canada, you need a car. I disagree that city planning is that much better in Canada.\n3. The maternity leave in Canada is great \n4. The unemployment insurance in Canada is great too\n5. I prefer the Canadian health care system. I never experienced any long wait times. My wife had literal brain surgery and it was free whereas it would've been hundreds of thousands of dollars in the U.S.\n6. Canada is further to the left and is much more woke than the U.S. Everything here is about equity, diversity and inclusion. Even many Canadian conservatives would be moderates in the U.S. but most people know this already.\n7. There is a better work life balance in Canada. I worked a lot more when living in the U.S.\n8. Most Canadians live by the U.S. border  so the weather is not that different than most northern American states. But once you go to northern Canada, it is as cold as they say it is.\n9. The U.S. is better for making money.\n10. It is much more racially segregated in the U.S. \n11. Outside cities like Montreal and Toronto, Canada is very white.\n12. Things are much more spread out in Canada. When I lived in the U.S. driving for 1 hour to go somewhere was a long drive. In Canada, that is normal.\n13. Canada is pretty great if you like the outdoors. There's only 36 million people here and outside the major cities, you find small towns and the wilderness. \n14. Canadians are quite friendly. I know my neighbors in the country. I never knew my neighbors in the U.S.\n15. Canadian politics is boring and I like this. However, in the rural areas, it seems that people really hate Justin Trudeau.\n16. Since Canada is so similar to the U.S. it is very easy to adjust to life here.\n17. Outside of Quebec, you really don't need to speak French. \n18. The nationalism of the Quebecois is very surprising. There is no group in the U.S. this nationalistic.

ok I live in Canada in Quebec to be precise, I'm from Latin America originally but became a Canadian Citizen a few years ago. I'm not white, I can tell you that the examples that you chose to demonstrate silent or systemic racism are fallacies, that doesn't mean that there is no racism, there is racism in every country in the World. But to point out that because the leadership of mayor companies are mainly 'White', it's not prove of systemic racism, you didn't say anything for example of median age of the different populations, that is an important factor in economic advancement of a population and helps to explain why some groups may be more prevalent in higher paid jobs than others. For example, according to Statistics Canada and the latest census you can see that the black population is around 2% of the total population of the Country, but more over a huge chuck of that population is not only young, but recent immigrants from the last 30 years or so. Maybe you should read some Thomas Sowell to have a more broad perspective instead of 'denouncing' racism gratuitously

I feel I have to speak up, as a Quebecer, the common opinion in the population, especially in the old one is that they fought to have their own country but lost the vote by a tiny % so overall people feel resentful to Canada and the federal governement. Yeah they live in the past, I know, but if we look in history our ancestors had to fight the british over centuries, most of it was fought in institutions and laws, because Quebecers were catholic and british were protestant, also Quebec absolutely wanted to preserve the french language, this unique dialect we have in Quebec. I don't know why language matter so much, but it does. So yeah, maybe that's why Quebec is racist a little, because in order to have the stuff we have now, a lot of nationalistic leader had to be elected. And I completely agree with it, most people wont say mean stuff but they wont mix in with other cultures.

Nova Scotia has many plusses, but it also has gigantic minuses too. Apartment rental prices in Halifax are as high as those in Toronto and rents in smaller towns are also very high- especially in relation to salaries. Nova Scotia has the highest provincial taxes in Canada but with very little to show for it. Around 100,000 Nova Scotians do not have a doctor at the moment and the list is growing not decreasing. Public schools are overcrowded and have very high class sizes- Nova Scotia teachers are the lowest paid in the country. If NS has the best schools in the country, then Canada is in big trouble. Yes, the province did have less violent crime than Ontario or Quebec (property crime has always been around the national average), but that is changing with the increase of 'new comers' in our cities. Fights/Assaults have always been a part of life here, but stabbings used to be non-existent. Now they are common place in our province. Just keepin' in real. It is still a pretty place, but perhaps it is better to visit than to live here.

Hard to rank the provinces because they do each have their particular charms. New Brunswick is my No. 1, mostly for sentimental reasons, but it is a great place to visit because it is compact and has such a varied geography, whether it be Fundy, the Saint John river system, the Acadian coastline, or the Miramichi. Helps if you know people there, but people are generally welcoming and friendly. \n\nI currently live in Montreal and have had two extended periods living here. I don't want to knock it too much, but there are two seasons, winter and construction season. Some day, Montreal will have rebuilt itself, but it is a major pain in the arse getting around and drivers are oftentimes stressed to the hilt. The rest of Quebec is nice and all, but agreed, you have to speak the language and even then, don't expect miracles in terms of gaining acceptance by the locals. However, I do give full marks to a province that seems to finally have its act together and set to prosper in the green economy.

I hate Quebec, and Ontario. They give Trudeau to us and ruin our lives. I wouldn't help anyone from either place ever again
