As an American, I gotta say… we really shouldn’t be doing Canada like this. I get it when it comes to China and other countries, but Canada?! Much of what Canada imports from the US can be replaced with non- American products, or even avoided completely.\nMuch of what the US imports from Canada is is big ticket stuff that can’t be replaced quickly in just a few days, weeks or even months. Oil, steel, potash, lumber, vehicles… it’s gonna hit the US really hard, but nowhere near as difficult for Canada. Is he trying to get a civil war??

I voted for the Liberals in 2015 before I really knew what I believed in. I later voted for the NDP. Trudeau lost my support but lately he’s been incredibly bold and admirable. He makes me proud to be a Canadian.

The really sick thing is that it was trump who signed the Free Trade Agreement himself in his first term! This is part of trumps project 2025, put the Canadian economy in shambles to make it easier to ‘annex’, he has a God complex, he will even ruin his own economy so he can fix it before the mid-term election, so he will be a hero! He is a vindictive person who will not honour what he agrees to, he throws out accusations and insults with a sneer and wants to be Putins friend! They have been putting our corporations out of business that compete with them here by giving those Canada companies subsidies so they can sell their materials cheaper than ours. It’s really crazy how people were so happy to pay more money for everything when Biden’s people manipulated us to think it was important to support Ukraine’s war and that was why prices were going up. Now, no one wants to support businesses coming to the US. \nThere are way worse things than prices going up for a few years. We do need to start chipping away at that $36trillion. We are the 1st country to not go belly up with the GDP ratio to debt as high as ours. Economists that aren’t connected to our government and top CEO’s said last year that it didn’t matter who was president, our dollar will reset and our economy will crash. So, somebody has to do something. Trump and his people has to think outside the box to stop it. Especially if interest rates don’t go down, because if we can’t pay the interest and our corporations can’t either, the crash will happen.

While a belligerent Atlanticist imperialism is becoming a thing of the past, in the meantime; asserting that Zelensky does not want peace and thereby implying that America does want peace is classic Trump spin. What America really wants is victory over Russia and eventually China. Having failed against Russia using Ukraine as it's proxy army, a Trump administration discards Zelensky's Ukraine while cleverly deceiving most observers that Zelensky is the only one interested in continuing the war. Contemporary Atlanticist imperialism in the form of a Tump administration is deliberately and deceptively stepping back from it's Ukraine project to prepare it's next - albeit doomed to fail; project aimed at victory over Russia and eventually China.

European here (Swedish/Germn born in Austria) Cudos to Canada! Even if Trump should row back Canada will not forget this and has once and for all realized that their dependance on the US is not sain. So this was really dumb - Canada is already negotiating with other markets, amongst others Europe. And on the long run this will be worse for the US than for Canada!
