Thank you, Prime Minister Trudeau, the sane Americans still love you and your great country. This government is not who or what I voted for. I am so sorry, friends. I think MOST of us do not want this either. Our government is a failure and we need to change it. We, the people. The REAL people. Not the fake numbers you hear about from this corrupt administration that lies like it's their religion to do so. Keep doing the right thing for your people, and know you have our respect. Also, please have mercy when many of us seek to move to a more civilized nation.

You're going to learn to respect America and what we bring to the table. You've been sucking off the tit of the American economy with no appreciation of your neighbor... You're not going to feel and your people are going to feel what America really is in the world

This guy doesn't know anything about being a man. He's a politician and a talker. He doesn't know how to wield power or how to be respected... He's a weak man that's just like all the other people that are being pumped out of college a whole bunch of confident idiots that don't have any real grasp on what the world is.

As a Canadian have have often been at odds with Trudeau's views and actions but I have to give credit where it it due, this is a great response delivered with respect to the American people and without hate or malice.

People that support justice and democracy are always respectful in comments, but if you read what putin and trump supporter's have to say, it's just insults and arrogance. That's the difference. Unfortunately, the uneducated form a majority in trumps supporters.

I am American independent voter who vote against Treasonous Trump this past election of 2024 in favor of Kamala Harris. While many of my fellow Americans voted for Trump many others like me did not. Now so many good and event Americans are going to suffer because of many Maga or Maga supporting Americans who foolishly chose to support Trump and his lies. Any pain and suffering Anti Trump supporting Americans, along international American Allies and theuir people, suffer will be squarely on the shoulders of Maga and Maga supporting Americans.\n\nHow Trumps first term wasn’t a wake up call and eye opener to how terrible he was and is as president is beyond me. He, treasonous Trump, did nothing to help our economy which essentially stalled or went into generally neutral state with essentially no growth positively or negatively, followed by a near complete nose dive due to Treasonous Trump’s poor handling and equally poor response to the Covid-!9 Pandemic. How people could seemed to forget that Treasonous Trump, not Joe Biden, was responsible for the current sate of things following the pandemic is beyond me. \n\nMaga and Maga supporting Americans have been conned again by Treasonous Trump, who not only failed to properly respond to the Covid pandemic but also incited and or encouraged many of Maga supporters to essentially attack the US Capitol in hopes of stopping Joe Biden’s Presidential Certification. Those in the Inter national world are not alone in their condemnation of the disgrace and embarrassment that sis current US President Trump. True Americans who believe in our constitution and rule of law as decreed by the founding fathers of our nation must unfortunately bare part of the shame Maga America has brought upon our country as a whole.Truly good and decent Americans must bare the shame of now living in a country that much International world now no longer trusts and has lost respect for. For all the hateful Maga thinking and or supporting Americans there are as many truly good non maga Americans who want more peaceful relations with allies in the international world. Sadly because of Trump and his hate many must now unjustly suffer .

It's no trade war, it's protectionnism. Something you should have done way before in your 10-year tenure. Also, he's not allying Putin, he's negociating on behalf of world peace. You don't get what you want by insulting people, so thinking Putin will cease fire and retreat if you call him names clearly isn't the solution. It hasn't worked for three years, why would that change now? Also, stop giving away our money to Zelenskyy. Sit this one out, Justin, we've had enough. Respectfully. They're 10 times bigger than us and we have no leverage whatsoever. Inflation is at an all-time high, people can't handle more. Please. I'm sure you're great outside of work, I'd share a beer anytime, but this has to stop. Please.

The US isn't launching a trade war against anyone. We are closing up shop and are getting ready to take care of our own. There is a massive difference. We cannot be expected to continue supporting other countries economies and defense obligations, when we have 2 generations of working class citizens unable to afford a home or have children. We have entire countries we could fill with the homeless and incarcerated, and veterans who see little to no positive treatment or respect within the job market. Things are already very very bad here in the states. I don't think many Americans realize how bad the economy is. Tariffs will force US companies to reduce the outsourcing of jobs, and force other countries who are over-reliant on trade from the States, to cultivate their own self-sufficiency. This may seem hypocritical when it comes to China, but that isn't a problem you can solve overnight. \n\nTo make it clear, Americans are going to suffer in the wake of this tariff decision, but that is the price we pay to force ourselves to change. We have made ourselves into a very weak country because of overreliance on other countries trade, and other countries overreliance on our intelligence, infrastructure, medical advancements, technological advancements, and defense capabilities. The american consumer and taxpayer front the bills for all of this, and they are suffering. This isn't a war on the rest of the world. It us telling everyone else that we can no longer be relied upon because we are weak. \n\nI didnt' even vote Trump the first two times he ran. But things have now gotten so bad that I was forced into voting for him this time. Why? Because he's a bull in a china shop. I expect him to tear every damn thing apart he can within our government. I want everything destroyed so it can be rebuilt by people who aren't complacent.

I am European but also a big fan of the US; it is such a shame to see the light of the democracy fading away in a country which was once considered as one of the most consolidated world democracy. As an American, I've been trying to work out in Alberta as a Pipe Insulator for over five years with no response, but you guys let in other foreign nations. How about you give the people in the US citizenship if we are seeking refuge. As an American, I am totally appalled that Donald Trump is our elected president putting himself & his selfish agenda ahead of the American people. Allowing people like Elon Musk, who is not a government employee to run amok in this country doing what he pleases when he pleases under the guise of ridding our country of wasteful spending, without any type of oversight. I am appalled at the GOP that refuses to stand up to Trump for the people they swore an oath to serve faithfully because they are so afraid of what Trump will do to them if they don't bow down and do his bidding. Imagine if Trudeau announced that he would be pausing the carbon tax on the Canadian people to help offset some of the costs imposed on us by the United States. I am Canadian, and I want to speak to the USA, as a concerned citizen who valued the relationship that we once had between our two countries: please realize that we do NOT want to declare this as any form of “attack”, that these are solely defensive measures against your current administration’s lack of respect towards us as a people and as a country. \n\nPlease rest assured that we KNOW that not all of you voted for Trump, that there are those of you who realize what your current president is truly doing and do not support it. This is NOT about fentanyl. This NOT about money and how much each country was giving whom. We had a respectable trade deal that we were following, previously signed by Trump. We have always had a positive relationship together, business-wise and friendship-wise. Please also realize that, once your administration is no longer in control of our narratives in such a destructive manner, or it gets replaced by one that reverses this destructive policy, we will definitely reconsider our former relationship and we will work towards rebuilding it. \n\nIt is unfortunate for both sides here. The speech of Mr Trudeau, the way Canadians have shown solidarity for one another, today it all puts my country, The US, to shame. I am ashamed of what my government is doing and I am disgusted with the people doing it. In Mr Trump’s first term, as eclipsed as they were by the many many many actions and attitudes he imposed on us that embarrassed and hurt us as a country, there was the rare occasional decision I could at least understand even if I did not support it. Since taking office literally not one thing he has done has made sense to me as an American. I can only say how sorry I am for what the country I love is being used to do to you all, especially our closest allies and friends and in particular the people of Canada today. I grew up in Commerce Twp Michigan. I visited Canada regularly and, even as crime from Detroit poured across the border into Canada, Canadians always treated us with respect and welcome. I never imagined that would stop but now I find it hard to imagine how it might continue and it breaks my heart.
