As for oil from Canada I think Trump will let Chevron develop and buy heavy oil from Venezuela. If not might have to wave/reduce tariffs on Canadian diluted bitumen oil.

I find it ironic people are giving underhanded insults to Donald Trump by comparing how Trudeau speaks, yet I can almost guarantee those same people brag about how they refuse to listen to a word Donald Trump says. I suspect the market will become more bullish as some of the companies that have made deals to create factories in the US complete them and start churning out products made locally.

There's many reasons not to like Trudeau up here in Canada, many of which are the reason he'll (rightfully) no longer be the PM next week. As a conservative I hated him for SNC-Lavalin (among other scandals), and the fact that his inexperience with the economy Harper left him is probably part of why this trade war is going to hurt more than it could have, and the fact that he's often been kind of a phony more concerned with looking and sounding good for the press cameras. Not this time. Nothing phony here; I've got to give credit to him for capturing the national mood pretty much perfectly with this speech. These tariffs had initially been deferred to April. The reason Trump decided to put them in so abruptly is in retaliation to Trudeau doubling down on support fir Ukraine. This is so annoying. Most Canadians don't want our tax dollars going to Ukraine either.

Netherlands here: Trump HAS to impose tariffs because he promised it a zillion times during his campaign. As a major narcissist he cannot afford to say that he made a mistake, and therefor: tariffs. I predict however that this period will not last very long. Only as long as necessary to make it possible for Trump to say that they didn't work out as planned because of some reason.
