I’m with my fellow Canadians, I’ll visit the US (although even then, it’s beginning to look less and less ideal) but over my dead body would I live there. \nThe fact you have become desensitized and don’t discuss school shootings is baffling. 4 or 5 years ago, there was a shooting where I live in Canada. The whole city was on lock down. I believe one elderly woman died, and 3 were injured. The person was caught, arrested, and is rotting away in jail. It hasn’t happened since. People still remember it. My little sister and I were scared, so we hid in my bedrooms closet. (It was on the second floor, and there was no way anybody could break in and get up there easily.)\n\nHealthcare is a huge issue. My family has a long line of health issues, and with that in mind, the risk is just to obscene.\n\nI am a woman. The fact that laws are being stripped away from us by old white men who have no idea what it is like to be a woman in the states is horrifying. \n\nGun culture. It’s near-on impossible or at least it’s incredibly difficult to get guns here. Owning guns isn’t respected. When people die from being shot, it’s remembered and spoken about, even years later. At least to me, it seems you care more for your Guns and the rights to own and use them, then Women who want to have bodily autonomy.\n\nYour political issues. I don’t even know what to say at this point beyond. The entire senate is rich old straight white men who like to make laws about groups they aren’t part of, and strip laws away from others. You basically have two polar opposite sides of the political spectrum and that alone, divides people so deep they can’t even be in the same room for more then 10 seconds.\n\n\nI’m Part of the LGBTQIA2S+ community. Enough said. \n\nI’m well aware that not everyone in the US is like this. But in my eyes, that’s more then enough to deter me. I’m glad you decided to take a look at this, and see our reactions to the questions. And I’m glad you didn’t take offence to the harsh or bitter answers. Sure Canada isn’t perfect, but it’s better in enough ways to keep me much preferring staying here.

I am a Canadian and I love the cheaper gas and groceries but I’d never live there. I’ve been in and out of hospitals had about 10 surgeries so far at 46 and I’m transgender I could never survive there. When I use to live in Windsor Ontario and lived across from Detroit I use to go over to buy groceries and gas but that enough for me. No offence to anyone it just wouldn’t work for me. I’m proud to be a Canadian and I live in Nova Scotia Canada and health care sucks in the sense waiting for things like surgeries and MRI takes a long time I know someone who waited 2 years for one but it is free and I would probably be dead if I had to pay for healthcare so I’ll stay here.

My American husband and I choose Canada when we first got married due to health care and educational reasons. My husband has been in Canada for almost 13 years and says he would never move back to the US. I joke about moving to California or Hawaii (somewhere warm) any time it gets to -30 Celsius or colder and he says over his dead body will he ever go back.

I am autistic, and the fact that autistic peoples are treated as inferiors in the US and not well help, oh hell NO. Even if in Canada this is not perfect, at least I was able to be respected by the most of them and not treated as a joke. Even if people don't realise I am autistic most of the times, my youngers years will be even more a nightmare that it was here. And, knowing that my family were broke already here, and I had an operation for my esophagus, wasn't able to eat anything solid, I will probably be dead today only because of that. Not that many people in the developed world are shopping for an alternative country. So I imagine most Americans and most Canadians will be content with their nation of birth. But as a Canadian, I have to admit I'm a bit scared of the US. The level of violent crime down there is such that _many_ (not all) people feel they need guns for personal security. American prison rates testify to a level of desperation and alienation that is _not_ appealing to me. I don't want to live somewhere where owning a deadly weapon seems like a sensible idea! Also, as a struggling creative/entertainment person, I can't guarantee I'll be consistently earning good money – there are plenty of lean times in my biz. I don't want to be repeatedly worrying about my health coverage disappearing, whenever work dries up. I've never had that type of anxiety in Canada, and I sure appreciate that. Btw, although the Canadian health system is a long way from perfect, I've always managed to get appropriate care, according to my needs, quickly enough, at no cost to myself. And currently, I really like my GP _and_ my specialists!

The UK is pretty much like Canada, now. There is only room for the 5% who are rich (the capitalists & rentiers) and the 35% of people on Benefits (the 35% of population who live off welfare paid for by the State using the hard-working tax payer's money). The honest, hard-working middle-class (about 50 to 60% of society) are absolutely screwed and doomed, because all they can now do is keep working their guts out till they drop dead, and never hope to have a decent life. The culture of state-funded Welfare has now gotten so bad that I now live in a street where some 30% of the people who live off Welfare have been given State funded houses, and those houses which are bigger and better than mine (all paid for using my tax money). And I have slogged my entire life (I am 65 now) to pay off a large mortgage on a house that eventually has lower value than the houses that people on Welfare are given on the same Street! Worse still, now that I am approaching the stage where I might need to go into a Care Home, my house (which I worked for my entire life to attain) will have to be sold off to pay for my Care Home costs. While my neighbours who never worked a single day in their life (and whose life was subsidized using my tax money) will again get free state-funded Care Home facility too! It utterly beggars belief. \n\nWhen state-funded Welfare gets to a point that doing an honest day's work actually penalizes you, because all you are doing is funding the lifestyles of the other half of society who wish to sponge off State Welfare (due to the high taxes the Government is forced to impose on the working middle-class to support the 35% on State benefits), then that society can never prosper, firstly because it removes the motivation to work hard, and secondly because some day the Government will run out of money to continuing funding the lavish lifestyles of people on State Welfare. And that is very much now the state of affairs in countries like Canada, the UK, and much of EU. It is an unsustainable model. \n\nBy contrast, in countries like the US, China, India, etc. there is a much greater correlation between hard work and reward. Choosing to not go to work and sponging off Governmental welfare is simply not an option. And that is precisely why countries like these will continue to prosper in the coming years - because they have some form of Meritocracy. Unfortunately, I think countries like the UK, Canada, and most western EU countries are looking at a downward spiral, and there are no easy solutions, because their Welfare model has already created these huge segments of society which depend on it and will not allow it to be demolished - but the day is fast approaching where they will all soon run out of money to continue funding it (most of these countries are already facing huge Debt-GDP ratios, and there is no conceivable way of them coming out of it).

Looks like Canada still needs to learn some lessons in this regard. Ask Italy, were complete swarms arrive at the coast dead or alive from the African continent. Helping people is ok, but it needs to happen in a structured way, so that you don’t destroy your own society. I’m from Belgium and just like any nation in Europe. Multiculturalism has been promoted since the 90’s. There is no way back, and there certainly is no room for racism because of that. However a society needs to be able keep it’s integrity intact. That needs to be decoupled from the emotional aspect.

Do yourself a favour and stay in the US. Trust me, you will regret picking Canada. Our shelter costs here are absurd and we have a government that flirts with communism. People easily give up their freedoms for safety. Broken health care system. Chaotic place with a lack of cultural identity, selfish people, divided country. Full of woke virtue signallers. Our young generations hate the old. Western canada and quebec don't even like the rest of Canada. Divided place with crime rates quickly rising, country is quickly turning into a dumpster fire. It's a good place though if you are a boomer because you just keep feeding off the younger generation and the immigration keeps pushing up home equity that you can use as an ATM. They are running towards a different kind of poverty here. Some of the places they are running from (mexico), economically have potentially brighter futures than here. The kids might be kicking the parents for this when they get older and see the places where they came from, have better standards of living than the place they fled too. India included, they have the potential to become an economic power house. We hardly produce anything here, and our government chokes off our natural resource exports. We have too big of government, too many regulations, too many taxes. Who would do business in Canada? Name a Canadian company other than shopify. Blackberry... Oh wait its dead. Canada is becoming one big California with crappy weather. I wish Alberta joined the US tbh.\n\nSummed up. Canada is a big ponzi scheme that relies on the greater fool theory. At some point it will get harder to attract fools to want to come here. We are lazy and non-productive, our GDP relies on a housing bubble. Canada is what you would call an enabler when it comes to druggies and crazy people. You can have Canada and their liberal and policed country. At one time is was a great country. I lived there once and went back and forth for 30 years and watched the government get worse and worse. The people are great but the government is not. I watched it deteriorate over 30 some years and now the liberals got a strangle hold on it and they are chocking it to death. Beautiful country but the woke liberals have destroyed it. It is no longer the Canada people once knew. So sad, but now I am watching the very same thing happening to the U.S. but I hope we are able to stop it before it gets too far. The woke liberals are actually dead in every sense of the word, brain dead and soul dead.

Once upon a time Canada was a peacekeeping nation... not anymore...once upon a time Vancouver was beautiful.. now it is a has been city.. drug addicts everywhere, homelessness way out of control..my sister and my nephw moved to Vancouver in 2020 they both have walked by a dead person on the street... whether it be from a drug overdose or exposure to heat or cold.. last winter my sister said the homeless people gathered around streetlamps for heat... I left Canada in 2021 never to return.

Canada is not worth coming to if you own a home in your current country and are generally happy, have a decent job and family, don't come here because it will not be easy or better than what you have. You will have to start from nothing, working the worst jobs cleaning hotels and toilets or working minimum wage in a retail store, even if you are a professional in your home country. There is nothing better here, nothing is free unless you come as a refugee. This country is the anti-dream of America. The taxes are very hi, the rent is unaffordable, to buy a house you have to make $200,000k a year, so basically you will be screwed. There is no way to save for retirement in Canada, so don't think life will get easier. In Canada you will get stuck working well beyond your retirement years like into your 70's you will work here until you drop dead. My parents are 70 and still work because they are still paying off their mortgage, while they get retirement $1,300 per month which is the standard is a joke since it doesn't cover the basics, you need $6,000 at least to survive for a month, to buy food, gas for your car, carinsurance, phone bill, utilities, anything else, just the basics. What the government gives you is completely unrealistic to the times, considering the amount of money people pay in taxes you don't get enough during your retirement years, the government has no use for you so they dont care about you when you get old.

I think you ladies are way out in left field and you really don't know what you're talkin about. Unfortunately for some people it doesn't work out for whatever reason usually because they do not want to assimilate very well. I grew up in Ontario to a french-canadian father and an Italian mother in my life in Canada was so perfect said if I had to dream up a better life I could not have done so. I grew up playing all the sports and enjoyed all the different sports and the changes of seasons. My parents had a summer home on the st-lawrence river and every summer we water-ski swam fished, play golf in the morning and barbecues every night right on the water. Even though my grandfather was in the hotel business I was all about sports and enjoying everything about it. I grew up in a town of about 50 thousand about 40 miles from Montreal. When I wanted some great nightlife just drove a short drive to Montreal and it had everything did anyone could want in Nightlife. I have lived in United States for forty years and I can tell you that it really isn't all that it's cracked up to be. Heaven forbid should you get some kind of catastrophic illness you are screwed. I knew a woman who work for travelers insurance for 30 years at the best insurance a money could buy had suffered a couple of strokes and was on the verge of going broke had she not died when she died. People think that insurance continues to pay his long as you're ill and nothing could be further from the truth. This lady was going to have to sell her house to continue paying for round-the-clock care had she not died when she did. United States middle class is getting wiped out. I've seen enough poverty and hardship in this country to last a lifetime. I find greed to be running rampant in this country. When I grew up in Canada there was always the grass is greener on the other side and when I did move over to the other side the US that is I can tell you unequivocally the dead grass is not greener on the other side. There are more millions and millions of people here that are one or two paychecks away from being homeless. And we're talkin 2023. Now let's talk about violence. There is a mass murder in the United States every single day of the year. And a mass murder is defined by four or more people being killed by one person at one time. Killing these so out of control in the United States that now even six-year-olds are shooting their teacher. I find a tremendous amount of built-up Anger from people. Food is very expensive and shelter is also out of control and non affordable to most people. Again I find United States being able to paint a much Rosier picture then does really exist. And there are more con artists and thieves , Crooks, con-artists, bamboozlers, cheats and scammers then anywhere that I've ever been. And I will say this is it it ain't getting any better and I don't see it ever getting better. I find it is everybody out for themselves no matter who they cheat. I live in Southern California and I can tell you that night life where I live is non-existent. Understand that LA and Hollywood they always have to glamorize everything to sell it to tourists. Just remember that things today are not what they were 40 years ago. Middle-class people in Canada would also be just middle-class people in the US. But if your life means anything to you as far as safety and raising a family then Canada wins hands down end of discussion. People that say Canada is boring is because they are boring. That's what I found to be pretty standard across the board. Life is what you make of it. But I will say that you gals definitely need to move away if you don't like Canada. Do not let the door hit your ass on the way out. And just for your information Canada ranks annually as one of the top countries in the world to immigrate to. Canada is the second largest country in the world by land area and next to Saudi Arabia has the third largest oil Reserves in the world. Canada has huge amount of freshwater which most of the rest of the world seems to be lacking and having spent my Summers on the Saint Lawrence River one of the Great Rivers in this world. I wouldn't change my twenty years in Canada for anyplace else in this world and I will be moving back shortly.

I just found out one MASSIVE difference between the US and Canada. Canada is attempting to force Jordan Peterson to go through social media reeducation or lose his liscense. That means free speach is dead in Canada. This religates Canada to some third world backwater nothing.\nWhile parts of the US are desperately trying to follow Canada's example, there are enough people in the US standing against it that it has yet to happen. That means the US can still claim to be kind of somewhat of a legitimate country.

As someone who was born and spent decades growing up in Toronto who moved to the US years ago and spend time regularly in multiple states, I disagree vehemently with what Aba said about safety. Aba did not recognize that not only is the US like 50 different countries, with each state being somewhat unique unto themselves, but the cities are like an amalgamation of 2 or 3 different cities. What I mean by that is about the safety and security aspect, it all depends on where you live and where you hang out. Undoubtedly, US ghettos and the sketchy clubbing districts are generally worse than Canadian housing projects and such. If you live in the regular or especially good parts of the city, it's totally safe. \nBecause most US towns and cities are built around neighborhoods, security and safety is always a big selling point. As long as you avoid the ghetto and late night 'action' areas, it's generally safer than Toronto. Toronto suffers from an outbreak of car break ins, car thefts, home break ins and recently car jackings all over. Many US neighborhoods and areas have no such thing. On a side note, as a POC, I also have experienced far less racism in the US than I used to in Toronto. Without getting into a can of worms, if you live in a Democrat controlled city vs. Republican one, you are going to experience more crime, more homeless, higher unemployment, etc. You guys are referencing LA, which has become far worse, like San Francisco and New York. \nAnd the cost of living comment is ridiculous. Again maybe LA and NYC which are shadows of what they once were. Canada has far higher tax burden, way higher inflation, prices of food, energy, clothes and homes are off the charts. In Texas, Florida, Tennessee and Washington, we have ZERO income tax as well as lower tax than the HST. No way, Aba and Preach are dead wrong on these issues, because they are using LA or NYC as a reference. There's a reason the movies Escape From New York and it's sequel Escape From LA are such prophetic movies.

I've spent 22-ish years hitchiking and hopping freight trains around Canada in the summer and I get the impression you are basing this solely off wikipedia entries and haven't actually been to most of these places. Winnipeg for starters is one of the most comfortable cities in the country to be in during the dead of summer in terms of it feeling nice but lot like a fuckin nuclear hellscape. Calling the humidity there a problem is a bit of a joke too, you should check out Vancouver/Toronto/Montreal/Halifax right around the end of July and see whats up hahaha.

Canada feeds on immigrant money. Employment is high, but doesn't allow you to buy much. For the money you earn in Canada WITH a degree on a very good job, you can't afford any kind of more or less decent mortgage. free healthcare is deadly inefficient. Think twice

The way I see this after watching this documentary for which I am not even an international student, that there are no consequences at all from Canada to those colleges. No one is regulating anything, hence, these Crimes (Yes its a crime because of the straight out lies and misinformation) in India or even other countries will continue to happen. Brampton (City near Toronto) have majority of Punjabi population and I am sure you can find many more students with even worse stories than this. 4-5 Int student dead bodies sent to India every month!! Be carefull what you wish for Girls becasue Canada like New Zeland, Eu Nordic states seem to be some of the better countries compared to say to the USA (its just over the border by the way, if you have plenty of money!) Yes the USA where if you have enough cash then you can get virtualy instant healthcare but remember within a profit driven system enough is never enough and most people will find their cover they try to use isnt the cover they were paying for! Here in the UK our Nhs was reliable & you were seen very quickly, until they started privatising then costs and times started to increase at 1 - 2 hours now they are 12 - 15 hours or even never if you end up dead sitting in the back of a Ambulance waiting!!! so the private sector increasing efficiency is a myth perpetuated by greedy money obsessed people....

Leave Canada to what Africa? Good Luck. if you have to wait in line for 8 hours, So what. Come to the U.S. No money your a dead duck unless you were shot and it was left threatening. Canada is fine but you're basically correct. It's fantastic for mousey types who want security and sameness, but if you are looking for adventure, crackle and opportunity, it's a dead end. But if you say anything, you get swarmed by moaners who hate to be criticized. The country is addicted to news articles saying it's the best country in the world LOL. I lived in the USA for many years and it is like night and day. You feel like you are building the future. Unfortunately, the USA has an utterly broken immigration system, so good luck if you want to emigrate there.

Welcome to Canada first if all. Why do people choose to leave their own homeland, then complain once they move to their chosen location? Canada has wonderful opportunities for anyone coming here, but if you think it’s a bed of roses, your dead wrong. Do your homework , research, decide what’s best for you. Live here for a few years , decide then. If it’s got you, move on, move out, your choice. But like any country there are good as well as bad. You can live a good life in Canada. So sorry we have cold winters that make us have the need to import many items and drive up the need to live here. So sorry you came and don’t enjoy the lifestyle here. I stay in Toronto and omg, inflation is horrible. Everything is so expensive and it's quite pointless. Canada is so boring and dead ngl lol. I think I'm going back to the UK though.

Is it not the same Canada where we are? what f0cking free healthcare are people about? go to the ER and you wait for hours you could die waiting. Private practice is illegal. Do you get meds from Shoppers Drug Mart or Rexall for free? Do they perform surgeries for free? Do you get free abortions?? what the f0ck is free healthcare you guys be f0am!ing at the mouth? Canada is full of TEMPORARY JOBS. F0CK1NG TEMPORARY JOBS. Before u know it, they lay you off. In the winter, businesses grind to a halt because many people f0ckin leave canada cos its too cold. City of Edmonton is sometimes called DEADMONTON. Why? Coss its f0ckin boring. The city is dead. Dont even get me started on Saskatchewan and Manitoba. All they know is lgbt and indoctrination of innocent kids.

Quebec, Nova Scotia and NFLD are tied for history. I suggest visits to Fortress Louisbourg & The Citadel in Halifax and yes Montreal & Quebec City are historic and lovely. You have reminded me of why my friends from the subcontinent love Canada and wish to make their home in our drop dead beautiful country. Really, their is no worst in Canada unless you want to live on the beach all year. Then your likely to get skin cancer.

I am from Kazakhstan lived in Canada Belgium America for 13 years after seeing this western boring, lonely, money saving, politically correct grocery, shelves is full of overpriced dead food and for every simple pill you need prescription wanna go back to home. but only exception Belgium was good , no complaints for Belgium ??

Eh we were all in the same boat as these people or our ancesters were. some of us were taken by the British and forced to come here. So stop whining and be polite to our guests. the government should be building towns on our North shore so we can start selling our resources and Canada could b e a very wealthy country. But too many that have been here for generations still hold their hand out. Even taking from our country for crimes committed years ago by some one thats been dead for years . and it wasn't them that the crime was done to.
