Ya know, it’s honestly comical that some many people have these knee jerk responses to anything they deem “negative” STRICTLY for the fact that it came from Trump, and rather know TRULY ABSOLUTELY NOTHING behind the reason why these “negative” things are said or done in the first place… I ASSURE YOU 99% of the people complaining about this Canada tariff don’t know that it’s simply to (essentially) force Canada to agree to ramp up their border DEA enforcement/presence to help cut down on the illegal drug trade (primarily fentanyl) coming into America! If more of these people complaining knew this reasoning behind it, I think that would quite honestly shut a lot of them up! And to be completely honest with you, that failure falls on NO ONE MORE THAN THE JADED MEDIA!! I truly believe THAT is hands down the biggest failure in our nation currently!! The media is HANDS DOWN our biggest enemy so far this presidential term!

I canceled our familly trip to US because of risks caused by erratic administration that can decide any dumb thing at any time thus jeopardizing our tour and money. One of our son is deeply disapointed but he understood that risk is way too high right now. We will redirect to a EU member state for better security ? Unless the current administration return to business as usual, there is no point into changing mind for the next four years... Way too risky?

It's obvious Trump wants to tear down all of the alliances we currently have and forge a new one with Russia. I only hope that enough GOP politicians are moral and ethical enough to stop this. Right now, the GOP is just enabling him.

Canada should do everything in its power to reduce its dependence on the USA for trade and security to protect itself from a Trump administration gone crazy. There is a chance that the current policies of the Trump administration will be carried forward by future Republican presidents given how the party is now dominated by MAGA people. Have just watched “Newsnight” in the U.K. where Melanie Joli was being interviewed. One very very impressive lady - she didn’t pull any punches and said just how it is. Canada is the only country to have the guts to say the truth about the current U.S. administration. Let’s hope more countries have the guts to stand up to Trump.

Mr. Trudeau, As an American who has never voted for Trump, I apologize for the person we currently have in the White House, and wish Canada and Mexico the best. Do what you have to do, and hopefully it will cause enough disruption that Trump will have to retreat. Most of us consider Canadians and Mexicans our friends. A lot of people in the US are contacting our representatives in Congress, participating in economic boycotts, and joining groups like the ACLU that are bringing lawsuits against some of the actions that have already occurred. the current trade deal with Canada and Mexico is something trump bragged about when he negotiated & signed it 6 years ago. Trump called it the USCMA. Less than 1% of fentanyl comes across the northern US border. we can't refine light crude oil we pull out of the ground here so we buy more than 50% of our heavy crude oil and natural gas from Canada. Canada will turn off the pipes and sell the heavy oil and NG to Europe. The second oil supply was Mexico who plans to sell their oil in Europe too. It will be extra cold in the midwest and east coast this winter without fuel oil.

I hate to see something like this take place, but the bullying behavior of the current administration make it unavoidable. The American people will be the losers. If I were thirty years younger, I'd be packing the Dodge and mapping the quickest route to Canada instead of writing this.
