8:07 - I’ve heard a person recently pronounce ‘developed’ like this. She sounded like she was born & raised in America, (though could’ve migrated with her parents as a young child from India)- it was at a highschool speech & debate I was a judging.\n\nI did enjoy her pronunciation, though it took me a bit to gain enough context to know what word she was saying.\n\nAnyone know where this pronunciation comes from?

Whenever the young leading politician is elected, the country is fated to ruin. Running country requires more than just good look and hype from youngsters, just getting their a couple of voting right. As a Kiwi that has lived in canada for the last 18 months. I have found that all of this is true. New Zealand is reasonably expensive but canada is crazy, fruit and vege is outrageous. Phone bills, rent, used cars, all are far more expensive than home. Lucky they have good snow and beautiful views haha. 18 months was enough though, back to NZ

Govmnt growth and spending, housing inflation above normal, abusive taxes on essential needs like electriciy, much like Brazil, yes Brazil has one of the most expensive energy taxes in the world even though we have more than enough sources of energy, because of government.

Canadian born citizen and my dream is leave and find a country where I can actually buy a house. And my husband and I are both high income earners but it’s still not enough to buy a home without living paycheque to paycheque and in constant fear of missing a payment and losing the house. Uncontrolled immigration has ruined this country in less than 15 years.

I regret all the hardwork i put in to become a pr in canada. I became a lawyer and found a fulltime job only to realise the facts stated herein. Wages are not keeping up with inflation. Which also means that not enough taxes are being collected to maintain adequate services. \nElecting a Conservative government will only make this worse.

Canada doesn't need anymore immigrants. They are a nuisance and have largely contributed to the housing crisis fueling over population growth -- too much demand, not enough supply. Plus immigrants get murdered in Canada too and many can't speak English. Healthcare resources are stretched thin as is. No more immigrants. They can stay in India.

If i compare Today's Canada with my home country Greece during crisis period(2010-2017), the wages in my country was, and still is crap but the good thing was the extremely cheap housing due to a housing crash. That helped me buy two properties. Now it's almost impossible to be a first time buyer. Now also, especially after covid, the energy cost, food cost, made even people like me who are owners struggling to cover daily costs(living in my own property and renting out the other + working overtime). I decided to move to Copenhagen, but i quickly realised that it's not much better, and i couldn't use my qualifications. Now i'm working double the average person here to be able to afford to buy a sh*tbox in a smaller city, and i cannot sell any property back home bc i will pay a huge capital gain tax as a Danish tax resident. My rental income from Greece can't help to get bigger mortgage in Denmark, but i think my income is enough for anywhere outside Cph. ...i don't want to imagine how Canadian cities, London, Australian cities are for the average renter/1st time buyer!

It’s crazy the way people forget that Canada doesn’t end at the end of Quebec. I hate to break it to you, but there are still affordable places to live in this country, They’re just mostly not in the urban centres of Ontario, Quebec, BC or Alberta. If you actually choose to acknowledge the existence of the other six provinces, you can have a pretty good life in this country! with that being said, I also have a good friend who’s making $100k a year fresh out of university in downtown Calgary. Everyone saying salaries are too low, there are no opportunities in this country, I’m curious to know what opportunities we’ve actually lost? Just because they aren’t being afforded to you doesn’t mean they don’t exist, maybe this should spur some self-reflection. You do have to work hard to succeed after all! \n\nLife is hard, always has been. If you actually talk to your parents instead of trusting what others on the internet say, who also weren’t alive during that time, you might realize that things really aren’t that different now. Despite what the internet will tell you, a minimum wage job was not enough to afford a house and a car 40 years ago. Shockingly, a minimum wage job doesn’t pay enough to get you a house and a car now either! Crazy how that works

I've wanted to move to Canada since my childhood. The first time I tried was when I was 22 years old; I received a scholarship for Humber College. Unfortunately, my dream was postponed because I broke my leg. I attempted again at 25 years old, but I didn't have enough money for a comfortable immigration process. So, I decided to accumulate more funds and try again.\n\nNow, at 30 years old, I find myself in a different situation. I've just bought a big house, and I'm living a simple, calm life in Eastern Europe. Here, I have everything I need: a safe environment, the freedom to travel wherever I want, and minimal taxes in my industry. Healthcare is excellent, with no waiting times, and the food is amazing.\n\nDespite these comforts, I still have the opportunity to move to Canada. But I find myself questioning why I was so obsessed with it since childhood. I realize that I earn more in my home country than the average Canadian, even after taxes and rent. Perhaps Canada nowadays is more appealing to individuals from India, the Middle East, and Africa. If I were from these regions, I might still consider moving there. However, moving from Europe to Canada seems like the biggest mistake I could make right now. \n\nCons of Canada: 1) Misconception about communism. 2) High taxes, up to 50% in some cases. 3) Expensive rents(we all know u won't be able to buy anything decent there. 4) Perception of social conformity among Canadians, where sensitive topics may not be openly discussed for fear of judgment. 5) Disparity between the country's overall wealth and the financial struggles faced by some citizens.\n\nPros of Canada: well, I didn't find anything I could not find in other countries developed countries.

I can tell you why I'm leaving...mainly for a far better life. This country ain't worth the effort. Housing and taxes are ridiculous and the economy is failing, besides our dollar having no buying power. Just so everyone is on the same page... BC, Ontario and Quebec voted this clown into power. It all started in 2015 when life was really good in Canada. Now it actually stinks royally so Those three provinces are completely responsible for the gong show we have now..... So the governments answer is to bring in more immigrants from Africa and India in th ehope that they will vote the Liberals back in power next year.... So sad, but so true. I lived in Canada for 12 years and I loved it. I graduated from University and started making good money, but it was never enough. Things are so expensive and you get nothing for what you pay for. It really breaks my heart to see this.

How can we talk about the housing crisis and not mention the fact that provinces gutted the rent controls, allowing landlords to increase rents to whatever amount they choose. The rent control measures, which were removed by conservative provincial governments, kept rental prices within an affordable range, allowing renters who intended to buy to save enough for a down-payment on a house. Growing up in Toronto during the mid 70-80-90's and as a child we used to have to take the Subway, to a Street car then a bus alone from Dufferin & Bloor area alone as a 10 &+ yrs old. Without worry , immigrants were primarily Asia's & Jamaicans which were peaceful, respectful. The Indians etc immigration has Increased crime rates, Toronto used to be amazing. But when is enough..... ENOUGH! I'm personally leaving my once beloved country. Immigrants aren't assimilating to OUR ways, yet if going to theirs, we would HAVE TO! Wholeheartedely agree with the content creator. We all see the measurable deprecation in our quality of life in almost all measurable areas. \nThe only burning question for me is whether we have already passed the point of no return and no matter what government is elected in future (regardless of party), will ever be able to revert the massive damage done over the last nine years to the country. If the damage cannot be reversed I would imagine that our brightest folks will simply leave the country. I grew up in Toronto in the 1980's but have lived in Central Europe since the 90's. Toronto was probably the best place on earth to live at that time. It was big enough, extremely safe and clean, culturally cohesive and yet very cosmopolitan...What the hell happened?
