As a Canadian Salvadoran I’m grateful to be in this great country. However, I implore all immigrants/refugees to wake up and smell the roses, it is not paradise here....it’s great but not that great. There are things here that oppress Canadians, and the government is one of them. Racism exists here, better believe that, Sadly, In this world there is no more empathy, kindness. Well, I am not going to generalize all people in the same category. There are good and bad people everywhere in the world but being first generation immigrant in Canada is really hard in every part of life. First, even you are fluent in English you will have an accent that makes big difference in your job hunting, making friends and get along with different people. Many times, I have been treated on the basis of how I look and on the basis of my accent.

Many countries will never let you become a citizen if you aren't born there and yet we make citizens out of immigrants everyday. You just cant sneak in and hope to wait it out, though. In general, people are not given to searching very hard for the truth. I'm white living in Europe, but I think that the way other people treat you is also very dependable on your facial expressions, on what the first impression you make etc.I have had numerous experiences in my life when going with friend (shopping, or organizing something) that because he looks more friendly or more attractive so people naturally speak to him first.Especially talking to females.Not sure how to fix it.Once people know me, it's much easier.Funny world.

If anyone wears a niqab or burqa they are not communicating openly. \nWesterners rely on seeing the full facial expression when talking to someone. I'd like to address this to the woman who went to one of Trump's rallies dressed as a Moslem with her head covered with a scarf and having a sign that reads, 'I come in peace'. I don't know why she was asked to be escorted out, but by her own words the people in the crowd were throwing questions at her as to whether she had a bomb under her cloak. Well, whether she knew it or not, she provoked the crowd by wearing the mark of a Moslem - her cloak. Also, by going to the rally dressed the way she was, she knew before hand that she'd be treated that way. On her part, I see that as provocation. Had she gone plainly dressed or attired like everybody else, there would have been no adverse reaction toward her. I don't know what she could have said why she was asked to be escorted out, but she fully knows that the whole of America had been given the real and true picture of Islam - one of terror, murder, beheading, bombs, war, and blood. How do Moslems expect the most compassionate, kind, benevolent people in the world to act? So, please, use your common sense and do not see America as the enemy, the aggressor, or the provocateurs. They're not. They are just being vigilant knowing that the enemy could be so sly, cunning and untrustworthy. Islamic people,we welcomed you to our country. Don't think that we are not watching you. We have given you a new start for a happy life compared to the life you have had in your native lands, but we are guarding against an invasion that your evil governments have designed for our beloved country. ISIS are some of the most devout Muslims in the world and follow the Quran and the Hadith to the letter. To say ISIS does not represent islam is like saying tele-evangelists are not a part of Christianity. (And I am sure some of you might actually agree with that) but the fact is it does. The personal character of them does not always represent Christianity. Jesus was perfect Mohammad was not. As a young child I remember viewing the Amish women as being in a chronic 'state of funeral' based solely on their signature dark garb. We should all applaud these women for their natural right to be free from outdated ritual and constraints continue to impose these indignities upon women. Muslim women living in Canada who wear the typical dark cloth across the features of the face and over the body are putting forth a message that they are 'second class citizens', are 'less than equal', are 'one mans property' - not unlike a common barn yard animal but possibly owning less importance than an animal since an animal can be traded for goods or services for profit. One can understand how real (natural) Canadien women can view this type of apparel as a slap in the face of their gender, a violent slap to go to the 'back of the line', 'take it lying down and like it'. So much is fear based and these Muslim women should shed their fear as layers of dark folds are sent falling to the floor - once and for all...
